This was my 1st time getting the turkey burger but it definitely wont be my last. This turkey burger was so freakin juicy and seasoned to perfection. I got it fully dressed, I initially thought I wanted a double pattie because the burgers are usually thin. The turkey burger doesn't come in double and that's because its a thick hand formed pattie. I'm in LOVE. Its better than the burger to me. I ordered my husband the double cheeseburger. Looked yummy, smelled yummy but I'm sold on the turkey. Service was fast and efficient and even though I walked in as the lobby closed they still took my order. Lobby closes at 9 but the drive though is open til 10, I believe. I am not a fan of bad reviews, it's been my mission to never write another one for several years. So here is a one star review cloaked with three stars just so I feel better about writing a shitty review. If anyone reads this, no one does really, but maybe if I can save one person from making the same mistake it will be worth breaking my own rule. I dropped in to try the new Smokehouse burger they were advertising. Order up and make the no mayo modification at the register, pay, get my cup, and grab my drink. Before I can get my whole narrow ass in the seat here they come with my food. If you know Tops burgers and how quick they make them, then you know I got old precooked food if it came this fast. Fries are cool and soggy, beans are thick, dark, and congealed, and the cheese on the burger is still cold. I flip it over to find this bitch is slathered in mayo. Nope. I can deal with the rest but won't ingest that shit. I head the counter where you can sit and stare at the assholes that work here. I stand there with my food in my hands for upwards of 5 minutes while 5 people make eye contact with me and say nothing. So I'm fully irritated at this point and start calling them out. I asked where everyone in the whole place could hear me "do you not see me standing here"? Nothing. Just a glance up and continue to do their thing. I guess the manager in the kitchen heard me and came up. This dude comes up and looks at me and says "someone will be with you in a min". Then one of the people that was in the kitchen that I had been heckling comes up front and finally speaks. At this point, no way in hell I'll eat the food these people touch after I have thrown an entire fit. I request my money back, get it and bounce out of this greasy ass place. I've been a loyal customer for many years and today I'm very disappointed. First, I ordered the Family Meal for six. The website picture included baked beans. Unfortunately, it was not added in the order...which is considered false advertisement. Second, I ordered half slab ribs, the ribs was flavorful but the amount of fat and bone made the $15.99 price not worth it. I called the restaurant to complain, and was told baked beans item was discontinued and the meat product was from a new distributor. Normally I'm a big fan of Tops, as a Memphis native, their bbq was never my favorite but in my opinion they have some of the best burgers anywhere. Most anywhere you go, a DOUBLE cheeseburger implies 2 burger patties, 2 pieces of cheese, as a frequent Tops customer I know this isnt the case for their cheeseburgers. Knowing this, I very politely and explicitly asked for 2 pieces of cheese regardless of whether it costed extra or not. Then got home and, almost expectedly, unwrapped a double cheeseburger with only a single piece of cheese between the two patties.. I know its a very small thing, but whats the point in being polite and being charged extra if they're just gonna do whatever they want anyway. Is the burger ruined now? No. Am I still gonna eat it? Yes. I dont normally leave bad reviews or go out of my way to leave a review at all, and I realize its only .60 cents, but its the little things like this that drive people away, I will not return to this location again. read more

I can't believe the number of bad reviews this location is getting. I liked this place. My father, brother and I came here after going to the Memphis Zoo (and, OK, I came here a few years back). The ribs, which had Top's famous rub, were superb. I also had the baked beans, Mac & cheese and potato salad and they were excellent. And the banana pudding was the perfect capper to the meal. They also have barbecue sandwiches and burgers as well. Maybe next time. Simple atmosphere and great service; they take your order at the counter. 5 out of 5 stars. read more

I am posting due to having tried Tops brisket for the first time. And I have eaten Tops bbq pork sandwiches for quite some time. Tend to believe it's bbq pork in the South and bbq brisket in TX. I like your food a lot. 5 out of 5. Service I just received, was disappointing . three out of five. However I just picked up a dry 1/2 rack of ribs that I ordered dry. At the dry thru window, I was given a paper bag with cellophane wrapped ribs inside with a container of dry rub. The problem with this is that drive thru customers are not expecting to be asked to do food prep in their car. I've ordered the same item before, so I know what I received today is NOT the usual. Had an altercation over food I ordered with gal at register over wether I ordered fries or slaw. Instead of fixing order politely she immediately argued with me, stating "She has good memory and I ordered slaw". The polite and correct way to handle the situation would be to take the slaw and replace with fries since the food had not been touched by me and the cost for meal does not change. The gentleman, I assumed was the manager offered me the fries without question. I do not plan to visit the location again for lunch so long as the staff is rude. So delicious! We appreciated the great outdoor seating, 5 star service & you can't forget to mention the DELICIOUS FOOD! Between our group we had brisket, pork shoulder, ribs & a turkey burger. Plates were licked clean! We came in multiple vehicles and even a 12 passenger van and found parking easy and accessible. We had a large group and Johnny Lee was so friendly and helpful. I hate having to write this review. I was born 2 years after Tops was born in Memphis and have alway told everyone that my favorite bbq in this bbq town is Tops. I'm gonna have to change my response. For the last couple of years I have found my sandwich to be inferior to its Tops predecessor. It was a bit smaller, it was not chopped as well, and the biggest disappointment has been with the fat in the sandwich. Today was the worst. EVERY bite I took had fat in it. I was getting my car serviced nearby this place. I walked in. The burger had good flavor and was juicy. I went with the double cheeseburger. I also added a half slab of ribs.
