Not great; even for the already low expectations regarding American Chinese. The egg drop soup had not a drop of flavor. I ordered crab rangoon because all the places near me do it as triangles rather than the gathered at the top style as they do here, and it was ok but also rather bland. If I could give negative stars, I would. We have ordered here a few times but tonight was definitely the last. The delivery was supposed to take 45 minutes. However they after 1 hour and 20 minutes. Fine. You were busy tonight. The part that disgusts me is the giant fly I found in noodles. Not a little gnat.. a huge dead, slimy fly!!! This is the worst of the worst places for Chinese carry out. Its name indicates that it's Chinese food, but ironically the kitchen is not run by any Chinese or Asian chefs, & the food here does not taste Chinese at all. The meat & the seafood all are so dry, so over cooked and without any flavor. The fried rice here is so dry, filled with salty dark sauce. I can only comment on the Sesame Chicken that I ordered. It was just OK. Nothing really special, I've defiantly tried and ate better. I ordered via delivery, food come within 20 mins. only problem I had was the person taking order does not speak English or understands very well. I was really nervous on if she took my order correct. They have mock meats, though they're not listed on the menu anymore. Just ask and ye shall receive. My friend got some normal General Tso's and was impressed. This place is pretty awful. I have ordered from them once before and the food was better. This past order was a colossal waste of money. The hot & sour soup is pretty good, the Szechuan chicken is mostly veggies, the teriyaki beef was absolutely inedible, and the veggie spring rolls were disgusting. At least the fortune cookie was good. If the food had been this bad the first time, I would never have ordered again. This time, it took 30 minutes longer than the hour that grubhub estimated. My friend and I ordered chicken chow mein, general tsao's chicken and chicken with snow peas. It took around 40 minutes which isn't bad at all, but the chow mein and the chicken with snow peas was awful! The actual chicken tasted really, really off, and we couldn't even eat more than a few bites of each. I think because the general tsao's chicken was fried it didn't taste weird, and it was actually pretty good. Still, I would definitely not recommend this place, because we essentially paid $30 dollars for one entree and white rice. Lastly, a few days later when I was checking my bank account I realized that they charged me 4 extra dollars. When I called the lady said I could come pick up the four dollars in cash, or they could give me $4 credit for my next purchase (I am 100% not ordering from here again though.) read more

This is a great go-to delivery Chinese place. Always fast and pretty good compared to other local options. General's chicken and Kung-pao chicken (ordered as very spicey but never that spicey) are my go to favorites. The food isn't that great if you know what Chinese food is suppose to taste like. However it is cheap and if you are looking for a quick cheap meal get it here. Also beware of the service, there is a chance you'll get burnt food and they could care less about it. They'll send new food out again if you want to wait another hour. They won't refund you. There are quite a few Chinese places on Columbia Pike and Tops is just one of the many. I ordered their hot and sour soup and general tao chicken. The hot and sour soup tasted like it came from a powder mix and was poured out by the second spoon full. The only thing that redeemed them from two stars was the general tao chicken which was well cooked and had great flavor. My recommendation of you want Chinese. Call ahead and order from Sichuan Gourmet in DC. A 10min drive but worth it. read more

Pork Fried Dumplings, General's and Chicken and Broccoli are all delicous, for take out standards. I usually pickup and my order is ready within 10 min. 1 star taken away for lack of brown rice. Where do I start? I order delivery yesterday and from the start, I thought this place was sketchy. When I called, a man answered saying, "Hello, may I help you?" and I thought that was extremely odd because usally restaurants announce their names when people call. I was weary but I let it go. Then, he told me to hold on so I did and I could hear his conversation with another customer. Thought it was weird that he didn't even put me on hold. After a few minutes, he came back on the phone and said, "What do you want?" I was like uhhhhh okayyy...kinda rude but it's whatever I was starving. I ordered the Hunan Chicken, Chicken Lo Mein, on egg roll, and two vegetable spring rolls. After 45 minutes, the food came. I was about to cry I was so hungry and this was at 3:45 in the afternoon. The delivery guy said $22 and I was concerned because the man on the phone said $21 and some change. Although it's only a few nickels and dimes, I thought it was extremely unethical for the delivery guy to round up the amount I owed!! Then, I preceded to ask for a receipt in which the delivery guy said, "I need this copy" and I said, "You don't have a copy for you" and so he said, "no." I thought that was really fishy. Even if someone pays with cash, they should still be able to get a receipt. Anyway, I paid the man and took my food. The food was disgusting. It was so bland. There was absolutely no flavor to the food at all. And the vegetable spring rolls were terrible. The breading on the outside was mushy. I've never had such bad Chinese food before and I've even plenty of Chinese food. Needless to say, I will not be a returning customer. read more

Delivery was fast, and the two chicken dishes we ordered were good, but overall we were disappointed. First of all, this is the only food delivery place (and we have used a lot around here, other Chinese places included) that had an issue getting to the actual door of our apartment, but maybe he was not buzzed in by the front desk for some reason. The real problem was that one of our orders was a combo platter that was supposed to come with fried rice and an egg roll, and it didn't! Instead, it was just a plate of sesame chicken. The other was a regular of orange chicken and there was a box or white rice to share. The chicken was good, but we had ordered a combo plate so this was wrong. The fried dumplings were decent. However, the biggest shock that was completely unacceptable to me was the fried bananas. Where I come from, this dessert is fried brown, sticky and covered in sugar. It was in the dessert section in the menu, so imagine my surprise at taking a bite to find that the white crystals all over the tasty enough looking treat was SALT! Unbelievable. We will not be ordering from here again. For two people all of this disappointing meal was about $35 including tip. While the chicken and rice was good, I've had much better and for a much better deal. read more

But after waiting for an hour, no word or sign from Top's. So I called. I was told it would be *another hour.* I said to cancel it and was told it would be another half hour. Then after my husband got on the line, the woman on the phone hung up on him, seemingly intentionally. I still don't know at this moment if the food is even coming. It's one thing if they had let us know that it would be an unusually long wait, but they never did anything and were rude and uncooperative when we had to call them. Never again. Pretty good, but the beef teriyaki was way over cooked and dry unfortunately. Spring rolls were just ok and I normally love spring rolls.

Unfortunately I do tend to eat Chinese delivery on the weekends when Im just to lazy to make it out my house. Enter: Tops. I was so hungry, hungover, lethargic...well, you know. So most people generally in this state would happily nosh on anything, or so I thought. I ordered shrimp chow fun (large flat noodles), crab rangoons and an egg drop soup. The order came on time (well I live maybe 4 blocks from there so that's no high mark) but that's about all that was positive about Tops. The shrimp in the chow fun had a texture that even trumps freezer burned shrimp, grainy in some places and so tough in others. Then the actual taste of the noodles (o yeah no veggies to be seen in there, maybe a lone onion slice I did discover) were so tasteless. It had the correct color of the dish I normally get at other places but I swear to you, it tasted like boiled noodles and nothing else. Thank goodness I had multiple Asian seasoning sauces at home to doctor that hot mess up to make it at least edible. Then the rangoons were burned in some places and the red sauce for it had solidified into what I can only liken to Jello? I could only break off cubes of it to put on my charred Rangoon lol (dipping must be for the birds I guess??). Moving past those two to the soup, it was strangely devoid of egg. Egg...drop..soup....not? There was only a faint swirl of egg suspended in an unsurprisingly tasteless "broth". Yeah, "broth" because it was more like warm water both looking and tasting. Then to add insult to injury the little bag of fried bits that comes with Chinese take-out soup seriously had like 5 little crisps in it. Gee...thanks. Those were all I really enjoyed out of the entire hot mess. Oh hey I can give it points for being hot! Hmpft. And the cherry on top, no chopsticks or forks or spoons of ever napkins or the watery soy sauce packets most places give you. Not a thing, not even a menu for ordering next time. Hm...maybe I could give them another point for being psychic and knowing I would never order again anyway.. Ha, anyways, no to the food at Top but yes to the palm readings. read more

The food only took about 40 min but when the guy got here he didn't have a record of me paying so he had to call the restaurant and I had to talk to the manager finally he soda he found the proof and they just had me sign the regular receipt and I was only able to tip $2 because I had no cash which is why I paid with CC.
