It's a carry out, so the food must be the star, and it must be affordable. Both are true AND the people who work there are great. Each of my orders has been handled promptly and correctly. I time my orders with the hopes that I'll get to see my meal being prepared. If they're not too crowded, you can watch the chef do his magic. You get nice sized portions, each item cooked to order. They are well organized and super efficient. It's not haute cuisine--it's Chinese-American takeout. But in that context, Top's is about as good as it gets. Top's in on the backside of a small strip mall on Columbia Pike that is greatly impacted by the ongoing roadway construction. And the parking lot is small and crowded. There is street parking, though. It's well worth the trouble, and I hope they don't dry up due to the prices that "progress" is imposing on the neighborhood. read more

Had a combo of broccoli with garlic sauce, egg roll, and fried rice. There wasn't enough garlic sauce on the broccoli so it was a little dry, and the rice was good almost seemed a little too healthy in that it wasn't greasy enough like you expect fried rice to have that little edge. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it was very fluffy rice not like fried rice. The egg roll was good. The crispy noodles that I got were not real crispy noodles that you would dip in Duck Sauce they were even packaged in a see-through bag. I've never seen that before. All in all though since I am traveling and was staying in a hotel, and delivery was prompt and the food was decent I give it four stars. read more

You can tell they take pride in the quality of the food. The price is very reasonable and the lunch specials come with egg rolls. Decent carry out for the area. The food is reasonably priced, the restaurant itself is very clean, and the employees are sweet. The reason for 3 stars is because they don't have a lot of the typical Chinese American options that I've come to expect from Chinese carry out. No shrimp rolls? No fried scallops? I honestly have no idea why the reviews for this little place aren't much better. The food here was delicious! It was quickly prepared and very enjoyable. We went here for a quick dinner while staying in the area with our 2 grands. This is a small take out restaurant and it was conveniently located. It worked out well. We were in and out quickly with 2 tired pre-teens! We got in and started to eat, all realizing how great the food was! The kids literally ate all of their food! Unbelievable! No complaints, which normally come! I loved mine as well! The next night, they asked for it again! We gladly agreed. All in all we had sweet and sour Chicken twice (best sauce ever!), Beef Lo mein twice, Crab Rangoon twice (Best ever!), Combination Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, and a couple other things we can't remember because the kids ordered extra stuff. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. Each night we spent roughly $33-$35 dollars to feed 4 people with nice sized servings. We were all full and happy, and didn't break the bank. I'll never order from this place again! I ordered the Moo Shu Pork, and it comes with plum sauce. They sent one of the tiny containers of plum sauce that is not even half full. Also, at a good restaurant the Moo Shu pork has delicious flavors. This is like they cooked the pork and everything else without putting any sauces or seasoning at all. None! I called immediately to report the issue, and the first person I spoke with passed me off to someone else, and that person then had the manager/owner call me back later. This place makes me feel like I'm back home in Jersey City. Finally, a place where there is no seating (that's the whole point of Chinese takeout), the food is prepared faster than you can say "Top's China" 10 times, there's one person who speaks full English and will help you in the case of bad miscommunication, and the food tastes 'ghetto' and not fancy - if you know what I mean! It's kind of sad that this is the only place in the Pike area that has the highest rating. Chinese food really isn't popular around here! Hopefully this rating allows for people to visit/rate them more for more reviews! The parking is a little tricky but thankfully you will never be in there for more than 30 minutes, no matter how much food you order. They're that fast! So you should be able to find a spot soon. I was browsing Uber Eats today and saw that this particular restaurant was offering free delivery at the time. So, I decided to order from here. I kind of regret it. I ordered Beef Lo Mein and Pork Fried Dumplings which came out to be $22 total. I waited about 40 minutes for the food to arrive at my door. I was so hungry so I immediately opened everything. The Lo Mein looked so delicious. It was colorful and juicy. The dumplings looked amazing too. It came with the typical dumpling sauce which I love. I started digging in to the noodles and the first bite was good. But quickly as I ate more, it became quite unappetizing. It started to lose flavor and got dry. I took a bit out of the dumplings and it was pretty much filled with veggies. There was hardly any pork in it. It might as well have been the veggie dumplings. I didn't enjoy them as much as I had hoped. Even though these two dishes didn't satisfy my taste buds, I still finished everything. If I wasn't so hungry, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed those first few bites. The actual service was pretty good. The food was prepared in a timely manner. Very good portions and they gave all the utensils and sauces I needed for the meal. The only thing was the quality of the food. I was disappointed there. I miss the nineties. Not only was life much simpler back then, Matt LeBlanc was still considered attractive, Michael Jackson was alive, and I didn't have to worry about my food being fair trade, non-GMO, gluten-free, low-fat, low-carb, clean, local, and fresh. I do appreciate that most restaurants have taken a whole foods, global approach to their food but sometimes I just miss the days when Chinese food was considered exotic and eating at a Hunan restaurant with their signature pale pink table cloth, and black laquered chairs was a treat. Top's China is a blast from the past for me. They serve my favorite dishes from childhood like pan fried noodles, sesame chicken, beef and broccoli, chicken fried rice and shrimp lo mein. They take American Express and delivery is lightning fast. Like I have to put my pants on while I order because by the time I hang up the phone they are at my door. I sometimes have trouble communicating my order over the phone or with the delivery person because their English is not the best but I've never been once disappointed with my meal. Top's China is exactly what it needs to be: cheap and good enough. I got Chinese delivery from Top's on a bit of a whim when I was stuck with an inordinate amount of work. Delivery was lightning fast and the price was extremely reasonable (though note that delivery is only available for orders over $15). You can also order online through Yelp, which is pretty rad - I didn't really have to leave my computer at all. The food here is solidly middle-of-the-road, which is pretty much what you want from joints like this. The egg rolls are absolutely massive and pretty darn good. The beef dish I got here was well-seasoned and tasty - not in any real way different than any other cheap Chinese place I've ever had. I got their Chinese doughnuts on a whim to go over the $15 minimum and was given a HUGE amount of sugar-encrusted doughnuts - they tasted that sort of awesome type of cheap and sweet that you only get from places like this, though they were so voluminous I had to throw some away for my own health. Tops China is a decent Chinese take-out/delivery. I've had better Chinese take-out, but since I don't order Chinese often, Tops is fine. I've done both take-out and delivery, and both are fairly quick. I've had the General Tso's chicken, fried rice, egg roll, wonton soup, Szechuan chicken, and vegetable lo mein. I'd go for either of the chicken dishes again, along with the fried rice. General Tso's was perfectly hot and crisp, so I enjoyed that. The other dishes were OK, but I would try another side before what I've ordered in the past. There were many wontons in the soup, but it was in a beef broth, so I'm not a fan. I'll stick to Tops instead of trying another Chinese joint on the Pike. read more

Love love Top's. This is serious no drama basic Chinese food. Delicious, fast, affordable and the family that serves are kind and serious about making you happy and getting you exactly what you ordered. We used to live across the street and would walk over but now we have to drive for pickup or get delivery. We also have plenty of Chinese places like this near us but none compare to Top's!! It takes them usually less than 10 mins to cook our food, no matter what we order. And we love that they have a special where is you spend $20 you get free spring rolls or egg rolls. Some of our favorites are the Kung pao chicken, shrimp with lobster sauce, Szechuan chicken, garlic chicken, crab Rangoon, egg drop soup, the chow fun. I love that another yelper praised the crispy beef and said it rivaled Peking Duck but at least than half the price--I'm definitely going to try that next time. Also check out their lunch specials! 3.5 Stars.... Yay! Top's China is reopen after its fire from a couple of months ago. I had never ate here previously, so I tried it for the first time last evening. They delivered it to my house 45 minutes after the initial call. People in the reviews said it was fairly quick, I guess my definition of quick is different from others? The food was luke warm. You could tell it had been sitting out awhile before it got to us which isn't a big deal really. The chicken fried rice tastes better second time around usually to me than the first time anyway. Kind of weird, but this is a reoccurring thing for me every time oddly enough. As far as the crab ragoon, they didn't have a whole lot of substance on the inside, but they were damn good! I really liked them. They come with 8 of them in one order. Everything totaled to be $15 even. I think the cost was decent considering we are getting meal #3 out of it right now, and that's for 2 people. I think it is the best Chinese take out we've had so far on Columbia Pike. Ms. Chen's Kitchen won't get a second visit from us since we've discovered Top's. read more

A solid Chinese delivery option. Not gourmet, but you are not paying gourmet prices, either. We ordered after we found a flyer on our door. We have lived a few years overseas and one of the things I wanted was to order Chinese takeout in my own language and have it delivered to my home. So, we bit. First, delivery took thirty minutes exactly. I can see that has not been everyone's experience, but we ordered at 6 o'clock on a workday right after they put flyers in our building of 970 apartments. We figured they might be busy and expected to wait. Nope! Second, the delivery guy was really nice. On to the food. The Crab Rangoon was warm and fresh. Delicious! The hot and sour soup was standard. It came in the standard container and was hot. I really like standard hot snd sour soup, so i was happy that the "small" size, which cost only $1.50, was actually pretty large. So large that we shared one and put the other in the fridge! I ordered Chicken Chow Fun as an entrée. To be honest, it fell a little short. It was plenty hot, and the portion was huge (3/4 went to the fridge!), but it just lacked the zest and life of fresh food. It seemed a bit on the fatty and salty side. She ordered Kung Pao Chicken. It seemed to be mostly carrots (carrots are good for you!). The flavor was pretty good, though, and we did more damage to this dish than the other. We got two packets of little fried crunchies. I like these! We got fortune cookies. My fortune only had one word: "Relationships." Huh? Chop sticks and napkins did not accompany the meal. That was okay, since we were not on a picnic and we have these things in our home. (So do you. Right?). Soy sauce was included, though we didn't use it and this we did not keep. A quick check of the little packet revealed that this is the cheap stuff - water, salt, hydrolized soy protein and preservatives. I know we just ate the Chinese equivalent of fast food. We are not above a guilty pleasure. But the hydrolized whatever sauce is just not food. Overall, this is the Chinese take-out that your parents used to eat in their one room flat when they started their first job and shared an apartment with a couple of starving artists and a fledgling singer-songwriter in the 1970s. Its the stuff that litters detectives' desks in procedural cop shows. Its exactly what you expect, its cheap, and they bring it to your door. read more
