Momosan was a mixed bag for us, but overall a good experience. The biggest disappointment was the tonkotsu ramen. Tonkotsu broth is supposed to be rich, creamy, fatty, and cloudy from hours of simmering pork bones. Momosan's version was surprisingly clear and thin. It lacked the depth and richness I expect from a tonkotsu, and my husband outright disliked it. If tonkotsu is your go-to ramen order, this version may leave you disappointed. The tan tan ramen was the complete opposite experience. While the broth itself wasn't especially spicy, it arrived absolutely boiling hot. I had to let it sit for quite a while before I could comfortably eat it. The broth was thick and rich, almost like a tahini gravy coating the noodles. After adding some of the ramen pepper from the table, the flavor changed in a really pleasant way and gave it a little extra kick. It ended up being the highlight of the meal. Before visiting, I read several reviews describing the food as bland. I didn't find that to be the case. The food seemed less salty than ramen often is, which I actually appreciated. Many ramen shops rely heavily on salt, and I usually end up with a headache afterward. That wasn't the case here, and I consider that a positive rather than a flaw. We also ordered the salmon poke, which arrived with the rest of our food. It was very good, but I was so stuffed by the time I got to it that I could only manage a bite before packing it up along with my ramen egg. Both made for an excellent after-nap treat later in the day. Service was a little slow at times, but nothing too frustrating. Everything arrived together, and we were still in and out in a reasonable amount of time. One thing I noticed was that the meat portions were on the small side. However, the quality was outstanding. The meat was cooked beautifully--exceptionally tender and flavorful. While it wasn't as fatty as the meat I've had at some other ramen spots, the preparation was excellent. There's a tradeoff between quantity and quality, and I'd much rather have a smaller portion of perfectly cooked meat than a huge serving of something tough or poorly prepared. While the tonkotsu ramen missed the mark for us, the tan tan ramen, salmon poke, and overall quality of the ingredients made this a worthwhile visit. Sad to give this place a bad review, but the food was quite underwhelming, and way worse than their Waikiki location. I order the Tonkatsu Ramen. It came in a clear broth which was pretty flavorless. It definitely did not appear to be traditional tonkatsu broth. There were only two small pieces of meat, which wasn't very flavorful. The only other ingredient (aside from the noodles) was some kale. None of the usual Ramen ingredients. Underwhelming, to say the least. My daughter ordered the Tokyo chicken. The egg was fully hard boiled, not soft boiled. I didn't try hers, so I'll reserve judgment on the taste. The order also took about 40 minutes to show up from the time we sat down. So bad service, mediocre food. It's too bad. read more

Stopped here for a quick meal before heading to an event at BNL. I didn't have super high expectations since I had read the reviews beforehand, but overall it was a decent experience. It's located inside a food hall type of thing, so it shares the space with other restaurants. The area is very well lit, which I actually liked, it made the space feel open and lively. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll, which I had read can take a long time to come out, but that wasn't the case at all. It took about 10 minutes. I also ordered the duck fat fries. Everything I had was pretty good and came out at a reasonable pace. One downside was that our table didn't have utensils or napkins, so we had to ask for them. My friends ordered drinks and had to ask for straws, and a few appetizers were ordered only for us to be told later that they weren't available, which was a bit annoying. Getting a seat wasn't too difficult around 5pm on a Thursday and we didn't have any reservation either which was nice. And overall the service was alright but the waitress was kind of rude. The restaurant was practically empty when I visited so I placed my bag on the seat next to me at my table and she told me I had to move it if someone came. It seemed very strange for her to say that given there were more than enough seats to go around. Overall, I found that the tables were kind of small and the noise level was loud but not too loud that you weren't able to talk to one another. The host was kind enough to reserve a table for us to return around dinner time, and we were seated right away when we arrived. It's located in a food court-style area with several other eateries serving the West End. Our server was wonderfully polite and truly the only reason this place earned any stars. I ordered the popcorn shrimp, spicy wontons, and a spicy yellowtail sushi roll, while my wife ordered a ramen bowl and edamame appetizer. The edamame portion was quite small, though she seemed content with it. Unfortunately, the food was a huge letdown. The popcorn shrimp was drenched in sauce, making it nearly inedible. The spicy wontons had absolutely no flavor; it was the equivalent of eating mushed baby food. The sushi roll was the most disappointing of all; it was dry, with a thin sliver of fish and none of the quality or freshness I'd expect from a restaurant associated with a "well known" chef. While the space itself is nicely laid out and the food court atmosphere didn't bother me, the overall experience was a total disappointment. If you like ramen, AVOID this place. Went here recently after catching a movie at AMC. We ordered Brussels sprouts and some baos. The Brussels were excellent. The Baos were plain. Just the bread+meat+piece of lettuce. No sauce, no garnishes. My husband ordered the $30 all star and I ordered the Tokyo chicken. It took FOREVER to get these soups. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Good ramen, but the sushi was very slow to come out. We were looking for a dinner spot in the TD Center food hall and this place caught our eye. I wasn't in the mood for ramen so opted for the sushi and roll combo (3 pc nigiri, choice between two small rolls), which took WAY longer than the ramen to come out. We saw that they had two separate areas for ramen and sushi preparation, and the sushi guy was falling behind--perhaps due to to-go orders? This is a convenient place to get food if you're in the area, but otherwise it's a meh experience. We had a concert to attend to next door and thought we'd get a quick bite, but it was anything but quick. We waited over 20 minutes for seating and weren't going to get seated unless we asked because the text didn't go through. Then we waited another 40 minutes for our food and we were late for our concert by then. The food was decent, got the tsukemen, and I think they felt bad and gave us some extra toppings. I didn't have much time to enjoy it though and just scarfed it down. They also don't have udon noodles. The karaage was very good though, crispy, juicy and flavorful. Am always star struck when it comes to Chef Masaharu Morimoto. Been to his NY restaurant several times before it closed years ago; then to his restaurant in Napa Valley - had a beautiful graduation party there with my first cousins in San Francisco; then to his restaurant in Philly. Spoiler: the food was excellent, and the server was absolutely lovely. We popped in here when we had a layover in North Station on the way to hit up the Downeaster Amtrak train. It was cold and windy outside, and they had vegan options, so in we went! I got the vegan miso ramen with an extra side of the fried tofu, a glass of chilled sake (which they fill the glass to the absolute BRIM with sake), and a couple of Japanese Highballs (the server didn't have it on the menu, but if you ask for one, they're happy to make one for you). The broth was creamy and rich, spicy, and thick. The noodles were bouncy and cooked through with a bit of a bite. There were plenty of veggies swimming in the broth, with a very generous helping of tofu. There was also a large pile of scallions to give you that fresh bite every now and again. Sooo good. The tofu was a lot sweeter than I'd usually like, but it was a very nice complement to the spicy broth, so it didn't bother me. I wish that the fried tofu sauce wasn't so sweet. I'd have been happy with just a plain fried tofu without the sauce on there. The batter (?) on it was crispy and light, and not at all greasy. It was a Friday afternoon, and the place was absolutely empty. We were one of like 4 people, so they didn't care how long we took, or how much space our luggage took up. That said, this is a restaurant in a train station. The servers are efficient and friendly, and will bring you a bill as soon as you're done eating, so that if you need to get a move on, you can indeed get a move on. We had a really delicious dinner here. I do not know the specific Japanese names for some of these but I will do my best. Appetizers we had pork goyoza which was very tasty. The filling was pleasantly firm but the wrappers were very delicate and easy to bite. Japanese fried chicken was so flavorful. It had a bit of a general tso's chicken vibe but was so much better. A light heat, crispy, so good. I wanted to eat a bucket of it. The spicy chicken wontons definitely had some spice but it wasn't overpowering. At my first bite, it vaguely reminded me of buffalo chicken. The filling was tasty and the wontons were so delicate. Very good. My table mates had sushi which they said was good, not amazing. But not bad by any means. I had the "dipping ramen" which is a fun idea - noodles and toppings in one bowl, broth in the other. It seemed like a fun idea, but the noodles were not warmed (which the server had mentioned) which wasn't to my taste. Next time I would just get the basic ramen all together. We sat at the table and the server took a good 30 mins to come and ask us if we are ready! We asked for spicy vegan broth ramen with glazed tofu however we requested if shrimp can be added to it. She straight up said no, and they didn't have any other seafood option. We requested she asks the chef and then let us know. This place is within walking distance of where I was staying downtown. I originally stopped in the food hall for a cup of coffee when their modern decor caught my eye. I pulled up the menu while waiting for my coffee & quickly decided I'd be eating here. I was immediately seated & started with fried gyoza, one of my favorite foods. Being that I've tried gyoza from countless places, and can make them myself, I can be a tough critic. The dumplings were crispy thanks to being fried perfectly, packed with flavor & came out sizzling on a hot plate. The scallion ginger dipping sauce was unique & I added some sesame looking seeds from a container on the table, both elevated the dish. Initially I had gotten Momosan Morimoto confused with the sushi restaurant "Morimoto", but I learned that Momosan Morimoto offers ramen, nonetheless, this spot inside TD Garden's Hub Hall did not disappoint! My wife and I stopped here before an event at TD Garden. I enjoy venturing out and trying different ramen establishments so was excited to give this a try. I got the dip in ramen, and it wasn't the best bowl of ramen I've ever had, but it was definitely good. My wife got some Gochujang wings and they were excellent. The ambiance in this place is nice. Although it's ultimately a part of a busy food court style area, Morimoto has its own section with its own seating and dedicated wait staff - so you're basically in a sit down restaurant within a larger open food court. Came to Momosan Boston during lunch on the weekend. Momosan Boston is located in Hub Hall, the upscale food court in North Station. Due to its location near TD Garden and the train station, the restaurant is surrounded by the hustle and bustle of sports fans, concert-goers, and commuters. It's a great spot to go to if you're looking for a meal right before a show or before catching a train. It wasn't too busy, so we got seated fairly quickly. The staff were friendly but it did take a minute to grab someone's attention for the check when we were wrapping up our meal. Between the two of us, we shared the Tsukemen (dipping noodles), Soft Shell Crab Roll, and Popcorn Shrimp. The Popcorn Shrimp was battered with tempura and coated in a gochujang aioli. The gochujang aioli was a bit too much for me since it was a little too salty and since there was so much sauce, if we didn't eat it right away, it became soggy. I think having the aioli on the side instead would've been awesome! The Soft Shell Crab was tasty and had tons of crispy crab that was fried. The roll was gigantic, yet I still found myself wanting more! There was asparagus in the roll, which I wasn't a huge fan of. I did enjoy the unagi sauce drizzled on top of it. Last, the Tsukemen was the star of the show. Their tsukemen comes with tonkotsu broth, ajitama, chashu pork, menma, and of course the noodles you dip the broth into. The tonkotsu broth was super flavorful and rich. It was the perfect pairing for the noodles. The chashu pork was also so tender and tasty. I would consider coming here again, but only if I was nearby since the food is expensive. The ramen and apps were all right - nothing amazing, but not too bad nonetheless. I enjoyed the brussels sprouts and the portion there wasn't bad. The soup for the ramen came out lukewarm which was a little disappointing though and the prices were quite high, however the location explains that as this is right by TD Garden. Very Tasty! We ordered the -pork belly bao: very generous thick piece of meat. Presentation was a bit sloppy.. I had to fix it for the photo. -soft shelled crab bao: crispy crab, bit of sourness from the pickle and spicy mayo. -tonkotsu ramen: The broth was so rich and delicious. My only complaint was that the pork belly slice on top was very fatty, 80% fat 20% meat. I would've preferred the regular thick cut of pork belly on top because I felt a bit sick after eating that much fat from the slice. It looked very beautiful but when eating it, was a bit too much. They also added pickled greens to it which I wasn't a huge fan of. -duck fat fries: nothing special but if you pair it with the garlic pepper on the table, definitely elevates it! read more

It is far enough away that I assume it's never as busy as the other places there. The ramen was so hot and comforting after a long day of partying. Ona Sunday evening, I decided to try Momosan. Arriving at 530, received seating immediately and elected for a spot at the bar counter rather than a table. My order consisted of chicken karaage ($12) and tsukemen ($17) The tsukemen, as described by the menu, consisted of dipping noodle dish with tonkotsu broth, ajitama (marinated soft boiled egg), chashu pork, and menma. This proved quite disappointing on multiple dimensions. Firstly, the dipping sauce itself has a watery consistency. It was essentially the broth used in tonkotsu ramen, but made slightly saltier. Tsukemen dipping sauce is supposed to be thick enough to coat the noodle. Instead, I had to use a spoon to get some of the "dipping sauce". This defeats the entire raisin d'etre of tsukemen. Secondly, the ingredients arrived with varying temperatures. The bamboo shoots, picked vegetables, and noodles arrived just above refrigerator cold. Why is this a problem? Imagine getting a bowl of ramen where some things are cold. It saps heat from the broth. Imagine a much smaller heat reservoir. Now the tsukemen is not just like a bowl of ramen because of the watery dipping sauce, it's now lukewarm. Even if this dish had some identity crisis with ramen, it should be hot. This is not supposed to resemble cold zaru soba or hiyashi chuka soba. Less egregiously, the ajitamago seemed well-marinated, though whoever cut the egg in half should be fired for mangling cutting an egg. The noodles are chewy at least, looks like they came from sun noodle (a decent supplier). The "chashu" was a sad looking piece of pork belly, unrolled, that looked like leftover supermarket bacon. To summarize, the tsukemen disappointed utterly. However, the karaage fared much better. Described in the menu as Japanese-style fried chicken with spicy garlic soy, it was just that. Piping hot, savory, salty, juicy, and unapologetically garlicky, it proved addictive. The appetizer and entree lie on two extremes - one well executed, the other poorly so. I thought perhaps this place would be the one to carry tsukemen into Boston. Clearly, I thought wrong. read more

Ok I was visiting Boston for two days with my husband. I came by for a beer and a snack and loved every bite. The vibe is awesome. The restaurant is in a courtyard opened are to other businesses so it's pretty opened and loud. Service was great. Waitress kept up with our table while the restaurant was packed. I tried some of Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto's cuisine at his restaurant at Disney Springs in Orlando, so I knew this would be a great place to grab dinner. Interior was nice and I liked that it was part of a larger food court with other types of food and activities. Waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable. Food and drink was unique and delicious. I started with their signature Shochu alcoholic drink, the Morimoto. You mix it yourself by pouring the shochu and water into the cup (the water was apparently filtered for 100 years in Japan) and squeeze lemon and lime into it. Very strong and sour but I liked it nonetheless. Next came the kara age (Japanese fried chicken). Very crispy texture and the sauce at the bottom was delicious. Atypical compared to Kara age I've had before but it was wonderful. I do wish it came with more sauce, though. I also got a spicy tuna hand roll they had as a special. It was good, but not spectacular. After that I had the vegan ramen. The tofu had some sort of special seasoning that made it almost taste like real meat. The tomatoes absorbed the delicious broth and tasted amazing. The noodles and other vegetables were of top quality as well. Overall, it's no surprise that this restaurant was amazing. Sadly, this restaurant was not anything near my expectations. The price was high and the food was pretty average, but the staff was nice and the actual restaurant itself felt clean and modern. I ended up ordering the Tsukemen, which is one of my favorite types of ramen: Tsukemen ($17) - Normally, I LOVE Tsukemen - if you've never had it before, it's basically a bowl of dry noodles with meat and other toppings accompanied by a bowl of thick and salty broth. The idea is that you dip the noodles in the broth right before eating them, but you don't really let them sit in it for a long time. I normally love this kind of ramen because it keeps the noodles nice and bouncy and I can regulate how strong the taste of the broth is by dipping the noodles a little instead of fully submerging them. However, at Momosan Morimoto, the broth was very thin and not salty at all. It practically tasted like a normal ramen broth that you might pick up and drink, which meant that dipping the noodles didn't really give it enough of that kick in flavor. The actual toppings (meat, veg, egg) were really good, but it was extremely disappointing as a dipping ramen. I've had a few in other restaurants in Japan as well as some instant Tsukemen from a Japanese market and every time the broth is thick and salty, so I was surprised that this one was thin and very much like a normal ramen broth. On top of that, $17 for the bowl seemed a bit steep - I think there are a lot of other great spots that you can find ramen in the $14 or $15 range. All in all, the staff and ambiance was great at this restaurant, but the dish I ordered fell a bit flat. I would have liked the broth to be thicker, saltier, and less like a normal ramen if it is being called Tsukemen. I'm not an expert, but this was the first time I ordered this dish and had it prepared this way - it seemed like it would be better served as a regular bowl of ramen with the noodles in the broth instead of separated. That plus the high price point mean that Momosan Morimoto get a 3/5, and I likely will not return. read more

Best ramen in Boston! Servers are always so nice and food comes out fast! Highly recommend!

This is only a review of their takeout/togo location within hub hall, not the sitdown restaurant. Maybe it was the selection that we chose for our order but the items didn't really meet or surpass the expectations that we had. We had the chicken karage and fries. Overall, it wasn't anything special. Chicken Karage was actually very dry, which was unfortunate. However, I would definitely come back to try to sit down restaurant as that seems to be a lot more popular and seems to be a lot more fresh and complex as well. read more
