The miso soup was so salty and not even warm. The salad was wierd with corn and warm dressing. The seared "tuna" was horrible. They seared each pre sliced slice. Not like every other sushi place I have been to. They normally seared the chunk of tuna the slice it. It resembled over cooked deli meat and I should have sent it back. I didn't even take a picture it was embarrassing I ate 2 or 3 pieces. My husband got the sashimi plater. The fish looked old and was tough. He didn't finish his food either. We don't like sushi with sauces and that are fried. It seems that those who do like this place had the sauce and fried rolls. This rating has nothing to do with the service. The waitress was doing her best running around the restaurant. She was sweet and very respectful and had to deal with serving bad food. DON'T GET SEARED TUNA HERE. read more

The worst sushi experience of my life. Stopped by Tora Sushi Lounge for a drink and to peruse the menu with a view toward having dinner later. There was no one at the front desk, so we walked to the bar and as we tried to take a seat, we were told we needed to be seated by the hostess. Again, since there was no one at the front desk to seat us, we left and found another local bar. Not too upset... staffing shortages are a real thing. Later the same evening, since we were craving sushi, we ordered by phone and picked up our order. As you can see by the photos, the rolls were seemingly prepared by a toddler. The teriyaki chicken was over cooked and the miso soup was unrecognizable. Good thing I packed granola bars. Service was meh... food was less than acceptable. Worst birthday dinner EVER. Really wanted salmon. Saw beautiful rolls being pushed onto the sushi bar and had my mouth watering. I received my roll and it looked like a 4 year old tried to make it. Not only was the presentation disappointing, but the salmon was not...salmon. It was a bright red color, not normal. When I asked about it, I was told it was a "smoked salmon". I refused it because it looked so wrong...and beat up! The spicy salmon hand roll I ordered was hard to eat. The ingredients were not fresh. They make you pay up front and after my friend and I had already split the bill, the server came up and tried to charge my friends card again, saying we both hadn't paid. It was infuriating because we both had receipts and had to actually go there with them. Please, please, if you're looking for authentic, tasty Japanese food, go somewhere else. My family came in here on a weekday around 630pm. We were seated within 10 minutes. It took while to get our waters and our drink orders in, but is wasn't too long. I got a cosmopolitan on the rocks and my husband got the margarita on the rocks. Both drinks were super good. This restaurant has a full bar, which it seems like lots of sushi places don't. So that was really nice! The sushi rolls were good, but no better than any other sushi place. They were big rolls and really flavorful! The service just seemed kind of slow. We were just happy that there wasn't a line or waiting. The music is tight but there are flies flying around the dinner tables. The service was slow but I'm blaming COVID and not enough staff. The staff were kind, probably working their butts off. The tempura was Luke warm as was the miso soup. Just praying the sushi was properly prepared as to avoid food poisoning.... This was part of my Birthday Weekend from My Wife. Plus because of C-19 we haven't really gone anywhere for Dine - In Services and it had been about a year since either one of us enjoyed Sushi. It was my Birthday Weekend and I Was Determined To Eat Sushi. Tora was one of a few choices. They won out by being Close By and They have a Happy Hour Menu. Check and check. Excited, we had a lovely walk from our hotel on the boardwalk to Tora just a few blocks away. Under Pandemic Rules, Tora was fairly busy. We were seated almost immediately. All the staff was busy. Our waitress was on top of things. Our order took a long time but I was able to see the cook's cranking out rolls and the staff taking them out as they came up. Luckily my Wife and I never run out of things to talk about. We're both champions at random talks. Our Rolls came and any concerns about not getting your money's worth went out the window emidiatly. The Rolls were good size. I had a Rainbow Roll and a Dragon Roll. My Wife had a Spicy Tuna Roll and a Rainbow Roll as well. They were so ono. We dove taste buds first into our yummy rolls. We tried each others. It was very tasty. We should have stopped after our two rolls BUT we each ordered another Roll. We both regretted our delicious decision. I was actually going to order another two Rolls but thought I should just get one more. So glad I only got one more. Our bill wasn't too bad. Happy Hour Prices were about $2.00 cheaper than regular menu prices. The Happy Hour Menu isn't huge but there is plenty to choose from. The walk back to the hotel was rough. We were both stuffed with delicious sushi rolls and I just wanted to take a power nap. I was glad to be back at the hotel, in my pajamas, not moving around. We ate enough to not need dinner. Later, much later, I hade some chips but that was it. After going so long without eating sushi, it was good to sit down and enjoy some good food. Unfortunately they put imitation crab in all of their sushi rolls unless you specifically request real crab or order off of the gluten free menu. The menu might say crab, but be assured it is NOT CRAB! It was some of the worst sushi I have ever had and we are on the Oregon coast. Save sushi from somewhere tried and true! It must be that there are two bartenders--one reared by teetotalers, serving cocktails with half the expected amount of alcohol and filling up the glass with water. At 7:15pm, every restaurant was booked for the evening or had a one hour wait. Tora Sushi had no wait for a table but the food took an hour to come out. We were famished and underwhelmed. The server dropped the yellow table rag on the floor, caught it with her foot, and kicked it back up to her hand. She used the same rag to wipe our table. I wiped down the table with our own Lysol disinfectant wipes. The menus and tables were sticky and the chairs had mysterious liquids under the seat. The food was slow to arrive and it's questionable if the food is worth the wait when every other restaurant was at full capacity. We wouldn't dine here again due to service, unsanitary practices and lack of cleanliness. read more

I posted the current menu with current prices as the ones online are old. Yes, prices have gone up. This is about the only Japanese restaurant in Seaside, so it's what you get in a tourist town catering to the mainstream American. So, no you won't find any exotic species of sushi here or really authentic Japanese foods. I was surprised Sukiyaki and Udon are on offer here. Mostly you have a big selection of rolls like most people order, and they do have to sell what most people want. People seem to complain about the service here being slow, well, just relax and have a drink of sake! It is a little slower sometimes, but they have limited staff. If you want sushi fast, sit at the sushi bar. Happy hour is a good deal, sort of. It's basically just $2 or so off the regular prices of the items. We tried the fried calamari, Calienti Roll, pink lady roll and the tuna avocado roll off the happy hour menu. The Pink lady and Calienti rolls were on the over sauced side, but I guess most mainstream people like that. It was hard to tell if the fish was good with all that sauce. All the usual fish were available, except for Ikura, the Salmon Roe. I guess thay only stock what sells. The prices really added up, ending up being about $25 per person. I guess I'm used to visiting Nevada where all sushi places offer all you can eat made to order sushi for about $20. You just keep ordering till you say stop. I was still a little hungry after. I think I'll pass on this place in the future and go for Mexican, or Thai food or burgers ...... money will go further that way. read more

Easily the best sushi I've ever had in my life. I had the Philly Crunchy roll and it was delicious. The California roll was a little lackluster but didn't stop me from wolfing it down. The other not-so-nice reviews are right about the miso soup... it was definitely not something I would order again (sorry guys). I've never had miso soup before so I couldn't tell you exactly how it fell short, but it only took two bites for me to firmly decide it wasn't for me. read more

It came with teriyaki chicken, teriyaki beef, chicken karage, assorted tempura with vegetables and shrimp, sushi, steamed white rice, salad, miso soup, assorted veggies, fresh pineapple. It's not that the food was bad it's that it was expensive and not that good. Everything we got was pretty bland. I wouldn't come here again. The waiter was nice, and if it weren't for the eerie silence from the lack of music the ambiance would have been perfect. The restaurant is decorated super duper cute and inviting and staff is kind. For sushi, this is the only place to go in Seaside. You can always find something you like or even something new. We had the Fire Fire Roll, Jane & Adam, and the Lion King rolls and they were all great!! Gave 4-stars because of the tempera. Tora is fine. Everything is just basic sushi. My husband had the hangover cure soup and absolutely loved it, but it was a tad too hot for me. I like some of their rolls a lot and their happy hour is pretty legit. Not a bad spot! Best sushi around but that's not saying much. We like their sushi and that's why with a newborn we went to seaside branch only to find out they are closed. We had called twice before but no one picked up. However, online it said they were open. Standing outside seaside Tora sushi, we called Astoria branch to see if they can honor happy hour since it will take us 25 minutes to get there and we were reaching at 6pm. They said no. Why not update with a voice message or change timings online? An extreme inconvenience for us. We wanted to give business to Tora Sushi only and were even willing to drive 25 minutes, but the other branch didn't want to honor happy hour knowing that their timings aren't up to date. read more

We had the salmon nigiri, fuji roll, eel roll, avocado roll, california roll and I even ordered more salmon nigiri at the end bc it was so delicious. You can tell they freshly shave their ginger - it's not from a jar - love that! We were in from out of town and the staff was even happy to give me some recommendations afterward on where to go for certain things. Everything was priced very fairly too, and even better is I saw they have happy hour EVERY day from 4-6 PM. We may return before leaving town to take advantage of those amazing prices. We liked it. Service was fast, perhaps because it was nearly closing time. The bento box we ordered was nothing out of the ordinary, but certainly satisfy. The teriyaki beef was tender, tempura veggies and two shrimps were crunchy, side of potato salad was creamy, and the salad fresh. I thought the addition of corn was a delightful surprise. I did not care for the salad dressing though, but I still ate it. The soup had equal parts cubed tofu and seaweed. The Pau sushi, California roll topped with salmon, was average. The strawberry and green tea Mochi were delicate. I love tempura green tea ice cream, and theirs did not disappoint. Location was definitely a plus being so close to our hotel. I'm glad there was at least one sushi joint in town. I was craving an udon soup and then I saw that they had happy hour! Food was good for the average Joe. The service needs to step up their game a little and enforce some safety measures. It didn't feel as sanitary, especially when the waitress gave us someone else's order. Good thing we didn't *touch* it but our aerosol particles probably did. I was a little annoyed that they seated us in this booth right next to a group of belligerent people. I know it's not the restaurant's fault who comes and goes but you could have seated us like not *next* to people like every other restaurant is doing during covid times. Sure, "don't go eat out", you say. But, we're in a tourist town, where else do we get our sushi fix. Also, soup isn't that great in a to-go container. Came here for a Quick date night with my wife. Really enjoyed the pork Gyoza and our happy hour Philly crunch roll and rainbow roll. Drinks were very good my wife had a Moscow mule and I had a tequila sunrise. Great service and Atmosphere. My wife and I started reminiscing about junior high and high school listening to their 90s station in the background playing. Very nice find here in Seaside!
