"Side of fruit" really undersells it. So good!
Cherie C.

I underestimated Torch-wood. I saw a steady flow of customers w henever I walked past, but I put off trying them despite living so close. I got a breakfast panino that said it came with fruit. The fruit salad was HUGE and made up of a wide variety of fresh, quality fruit. The salads easily feed two people. They are fresh and use great ingredients. Order online and it's ready quickly. It's a reliable place for healthy, quality food.

Summer Royal Panini and BBQ Chicken Panini

My co-workers and I were looking for a sandwich shop that can deliver to our building and we found this cafe on Uber Eats. The restaurant has really interesting sandwiches to choose from and they all sounded delicious! My co-worker and I decided to split both the Summer Royal Panini (Ham, Brie Cheese, and Fig-Apricot-Orange spread on ciabatta) and the BBQ Chicken Panini (Rotisserie chicken, American cheese, bacon, and barbecue sauce, we omitted the tomatoes that it normally comes with). I also ordered the Lavender Lemonade. The lavender lemonade was absolutely delicious and is a close second to my favorite lavender lemonade ever at a New Jersey teahouse. It was sweet and not too floral, delicious!! As for the sandwiches, out of the two that we split, we preferred the BBQ Chicken sandwich. I would have LOVED the Summer Royal better if the spread was JUST fig, not apricot/orange/fig. On Uber Eats, I wasn't able to find a field to customize the spread (to only make it fig), but maybe next time if we go there again. The food was really good!

Wow. Wow. Wow. We split a egg, turkey, pesto panini that came with a huge fruit salad. One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had. Don't judge my awful picture. It was perfect! Serve La Colombe coffee - made perfectly. Such a cute little place, no nonsense with their food. Small seating area. Order at the counter. And wait for deliciousness to arrive. It's a very busy take out place- lots of bags ready to be picked up. I will be coming back because it's well worth it! Stop by and support this local family owned place.

DELICIOUS!! Service is fairly quick. We went on a Monday and they had a lot of orders. The menu in the store is way more than the website. So many options for everyone! 24hrs later: We came back 2 more times! Not realizing they were closing my friend was craving another tea. Staff quickly accommodated us! We came back Tuesday morning and it was busy yet again but just as delicious! This is definitely our forever spot in Philly when visit! Ambiance is relaxing. No one really sat in the shop but to wait for orders. Music is constantly playing in the background

Service and coffee was grade A. The ambiance is just right. I'm surprised the "ma and pa shop" feel you get given the location. Thanks, Torch-Wood!

I've had Torch-Wood on my radar since I heard it had some pretty delicious sandwiches. Finally found them for delivery on Caviar! Of the three things I tried, my favorite by far was the breakfast bagel. Good flavor on the sausage and a good sized bagel, it was delivered while it was still hot! Second favorite was the lox on a bagel, coming with a good amount of lox and a good ratio of cream cheese. I find that bagel shops sometimes skimp on the fish, but not Torch-Wood! Woohoo Last but not least, the Italian hoagie. Comes with spinach instead of lettuce, and it felt like a classed up version of a staple that we all know and love. Good cheese and just enough meat. Good bread quality in all cases, good toppings, and well worth the suspense!

holy moly!! i didn't know sandwiches could be so delicious! i stopped by on a whim because i was in the area, and was greeted with friendly smiles and a very aesthetic (beautiful handwriting!), overflowing board of menu options: coffee, hot cocoa, seasonal sandwiches, hot and cold sandwiches, salads. i chose the spicy dragon (was told it's popular!) and oh ma GAHHH. it disappeared in 5 min. the stars aligned. the flavors, impeccable. slices of turkey, generous. a perfect spicy kick. melty goodness. i hope to be back very soon! what a lovely place!

Great family owned business right in old city! I came in with dietary restrictions and everyone was super accommodating and very patient. I ended up getting a sourdough panini with chicken, avocado, onion & BBQ sauce. All around, I would recommend this little spot. It's the perfect quaint deli for old city! So many options for everyone to choose from.

Great place for a quick breakfast or lunch! Their sandwiches and wraps don't disappoint. Smoothies are in a variety of flavors. My favorite is the espresso chocolate peanut butter smoothie! Wonderful staff as well!

Stopped into Nicks on a Tuesday night while in Philly for a work-adjacent trip. Nicks is a nice…read moreunpretentious spot; very local, very neighborhood. We arrived with a party of 7 and no reservation but were seated quickly with no hassle. The bartender appeared to be doubling as the server but took great care of us. The menu and draft beer list aren't extensive but what Nicks does they do well. There were enough selections to accommodate everyone, including a vegetarian member of our party. My waffle fries were to die for. Nicks is a great spot for a solid meal in the heart of Old City Philadelphia.

This place treated me and my company terribly and they turned us away they must be making so much money that they could just be mean to whoever they want. We wasted like an hour of our precious time that night recently. It was 1am Saturday night (technically Sunday). He said last call was done and proceeded to kick us out rather than letting us wait there for our Ubers. However there were tons of other people there and he was fine with that. We were well-mannered and did not deserve to be treated that way. The bartender guy even flicked his middle finger at my best friend who is a gentleman that tried to capture a video of the establishment name and him. So he was brazen and bold to be nasty to us. It could've even been due to the color of our skin, and I am saying this as a patriotic Republican (meaning I do not cry "racism" for everything), but I will call it out as I see it. To prove this is a true review and story I've attached a video of the bartender who flicked us off and you can hear a girl in our group talking about how rude he was.

I had heard alot about their chicken caesar wrap, and as a chicken caesar enthusiast, I had to give it a shot. This was absolutely incredible. Dare I say the best wrap I've had in Philly. Everything was perfectly fresh, the dressing was delicious, and the wrap was perfectly grilled. I went for the truffle fries on the side, they were great as well. Perfectly fried and seasoned. Unfortunately my snickerdoodle latte wasn't the greatest. The flavoring was lovely and was just sweet enough, but the espresso was a bit burnt. Overall this was great, definitely adding to my lunch rotation.

It's possible the bagels weren't fresh when we visited (Tuesday morning). I ordered a cereal latte and a mango smoothie. The coffee was fine but not something I'd order again, while the smoothie was really good and something I would recommend. While dining in, the overall presentation felt more like a cafeteria experience than a sit-down café. We were given plastic to-go utensil sets, plastic cups, plastic straws, and our food was served on a baking sheet. The overwhelming use of plastic felt underwhelming for dining in and didn't align with the price point, especially when the average coffee + bagel total exceeds $15. Service: The staff was friendly overall, but not very mindful of professional behavior while working. While the atmosphere is meant to be relaxed, one barista was sitting on the countertops and taking personal calls on speaker, which felt off-putting as a customer. Ambiance: It's a nice open space with great natural lighting and plenty of seating. Overall, it's a good place to work, hang out, and get caffeinated.
