Very fun & upbeat place for dinner!!! We went with a big group and had a great experience. We had a reservation and were sat right away upon arrival. We started with cocktails which were good, but not great. So might be best to stick with wine/beer. We also started with the artichoke hearts which were one of my favorite things I had. They melted in your mouth and had a thin and crispy breading on the outside. The caesar salad was good, but don't need to get it again. All of the pastas I tried were amazing!!!! I don't think you can go wrong ordering here. My favorite (which I didn't get a picture of) was Bucatini Arrabbiata Burrata. It was basically creamy tomato sauce with thick spaghetti noodles & I LOVED it. The Shrimp Fettuccine & Pesto rigatoni were very good too. I loved the sauces on all of them. All the stars! Such a fun, delicious meal. Our waitress Olivia was great. She obviously loves the food and was so kind and helpful. We started with tomato tartare with crostini which was beautiful and delicious. The three of us then split three pastas and all of them were great--midnight pasta, bucatini arrabiata and leek risotto. Thanks to Olivia's expert guidance, it was the perfect pasta trio. Finished with perhaps the best tiramisu I've ever had, a lovely light olive oil cake and a really fun amaro sampler. Great staff, from the nice woman on the phone when we had to change our reservation time because of a 2 hour flight delay to the perfectly attentive, without being obtrusive, waitstaff. Was able to reserve for a high top table about a week before (all the regular tables were pretty much booked). This place is a lot smaller than I anticipated. Once sat, the staff were very kind and attentive and we were greeted by our server right away. We ordered the black truffle burrata appetizer, torchio pasta, and rigatoni alla vodka. The best dish was the signature torchio pasta. The pasta shape was super unique and had a great texture you can really tell it's fresh pasta. The sauce was good and creamy could use some salt but the sausage made up for it a little bit. The appetizer was ok as well. I'm not sure what it was about the rigatoni alla vodka but it tasted overly acidic or bitter for me almost as if the vodka was not fully cooked out. I couldn't really finish it. As other reviews stated there are lots of Italian spots around the city so I'm unsure if I would return especially considering the prices of the dishes. I LOVE TORCHIO!!!! This has been my new favorite pasta restaurant. Seafood fra diavolo pasta is delicious and full of goodness. I also tried a different seafood pasta with squid ink spaghetti and I loved that item as well. Everything I've tried this far has been great. The service is also nice. For the ambiance, it's clean and cute inside and in the patio but the tables are small and high top tables are a bit annoying. I am not sure if they really need to be high top. But I will certainly be returning many more times since I am addicted to their pasta!! read more

We ordered: - pulpo neri - off menu item that I've had before but loved it so much had to get it again! Still very good, nice kick to the sauce and an abundant amount of octopus, shrimp and mussels - scallop fettuccine - husband had his heart set on this and initially, the fresh scallops hadn't been delivered yet so he was figuring out what else he wanted to try but luckily the delivery got there and Bebe made it happen for us - braise short rib pappardelle - Bebe mentioned it was slightly sweet and I'd agree with that. The short rib was so tender and the sauce was good. Somewhat similar flavor profile to the Thai dish - pad lard nar - meatballs - really good and great flavor - cocktails- highly recommend the ponte vecchio, the Brooklyn and the espresso martini Such a gem for Italian food and great service! read more

Our favorites were the risotto and diavolo, but the squid ink pasta in the bianco nero was the most al dente. At the end of the meal, they brought a bread basket to dip in the sauces, but the bread was quite stale. The mini cannolis for dessert was just okay. We ordered the Aviation (my go to if I ever see it on a menu) and the Espresso Martini and they were both fantastic. We had the Arrabiata Bucatini and the Cacio E Pepe and were satisfied with our choices. Both were made well and were happy to find an actual spicy kick to the arrabiata. Updated review: I had the Puttanesca with capellini (similar to angel hair pasta) with capers, olives, capers, white wine, prosciutto, garlic and Italian fennel sausage. Absolutely delicious. (I substituted the capellini instead of bucatini because I prefer very thin pasta.) The lemon sorbet to finish the meal was creamy and refreshing. The service was good. My only objection was the espresso. Why is it so hard to get a good espresso in Chicago? It's almost always unpleasantly sour instead of pleasantly bitter like the great espresso in Europe. Best carbonara I've had outside of Italy. It's sort of a running joke that my family and I always order it whenever it's on the menu. Often times it isn't authentic, or you can tell the pasta isn't homemade. It scratches the itch but doesn't fulfill the craving entirely. I was thoroughly blown away. Torchio has been on my list for over a year; however, I just never really make it out in this neighborhood. We were a walk in party of 3 at 745pm on a Thursday. It was more crowded than I expected but the wait was only 15 minutes. Between three, we ordered the béchamel lasagna, fried burrata truffle fettuccine, and the pancetta sausage risotto. The pancetta sausage risotto tasted exactly like a deconstructed pepperoni pizza. I think I was too distracted by it tasting like pizza, I didn't really pay attention to anything else but the risotto itself was cooked well. The lasagna was just your ordinary lasagna.. I wish it was more crispy and burnt as the burnt edges of lasagna is always my favorite part. Because I was so amazed by the fried burrata truffle fettuccine, I didn't care too much for the other two dishes. The fettuccine was unlike I ever had before. It was so thin almost like an egg noodle texture. So light and bouncy. The cream sauce had a nice truffle essence without being too overpowering. I also really enjoyed the fried burrata. I was a bit skeptical thinking it would be too much but it was great. I can't believe it's taken me this long to try Torchio. I will most definitely be back for the fettuccine. read more

Love this place! It's very small, intimate and so cute. Very easy to get a same day res at 7pm. Service was fantastic. Took our coats for us, very fast, had the best recommendations as well. I got a dirty martini to start, it was perfectly done. We got the burrata for an app which was also perfect. The pesto was full of flavor. The main I had the scallop fettuccini. The scallops were cooked perfectly. You can add a Parmesan bowl to any pasta dish for $3 more. Very fun and the bottom of the bowl was very good from sitting in the pasta. The menu is huge. Looked for a great pasta restaurant for a night out in Chicago. Came across Torchio on Yelp and we decided to give it a go. The food was AMAZING! I also had a limencello spritzer to start out and it was so good! We started with the meatballs and whipped ricotta and tomato fig jam. It was smooth and creamy, and the meatballs and sauce were delicious! The mushroom pasta was a weekly special and it was topped with fried burrata. It was so good! I love burrata so I was sold as soon as they said it was on top. I love mushrooms and it was absolutely everything I hoped it would be! My husband got the braised ribs over pasta and he devoured it. OMG, I couldn't love this place more. Cozy, friendly, and the food is FANTASTIC. I had the asparagus appetizer and it was honestly the best restaurant asparagus I've ever had. I also wanted some pasta since I was running the marathon the next day, and I couldn't decide, so I let my server choose. She NAILED it! I even got to try Malört for the first time, and while that may seem like a punishment, it definitely wasn't since the bartenders were so fun and friendly. We ordered three pastas to share between four of us, this included the Truffle and Fried Burrata Fettuccine, which was my favorite. For appetizers we got the Whipped Ricotta and Tomato Fig Jam crostinis. They were delicious, and easy to share. We ended the night with the tiramisu even though we were so full but had to get dessert because we knew it would be just an great as the rest of the meal. Tiramisu was a solid choice. The day that I came here with a friend the power cut out on the entire block. After we ordered the lights went out, but it didn't get too dark bc we were sitting by the big bright window. We decided to stay, just because there isn't electricity doesn't mean the stoves can't light, and our beautiful pasta came out hot and steamy. Oh my god I still think about her and I miss her so much bro. Every nood was perfect, I could drown in the sauce. The restaurant is so romantic and cozy, the pasta was soooo good, the staff were so cheerful and the atmosphere was light-hearted and fun, I couldn't even comprehend why the staff apologized for the inconvenience when I was having the best meal of that month. I started coming here when it first opened in 2019 when I initially traveled to Chicago for work. Since then Torchio was my go-to every time I go to Chicago. This trip is special as I am taking a personal trip with family and have raved about this place over and over again (even taking food on the flight back for them!) I took my mom to Torchio because she loved it so much last time she was in town, and I've enjoyed it every time I've been. It's been a while, and we were both looking forward to it. Our server was adequate. Humorless and disengaged, but maybe she was having a bad night. The rest of the staff was nice. The gnocchi were good, and the sauce on them amazing, but they weren't hot. They just came out of the oven in a hot pan and had cheese melted on top, yet were only just warm. The bread was an offense to bread. I couldn't believe we were given such Subway-looking white bread in an Italian restaurant! I looked at it and covered it right back up. My mom tried a piece anyway, describing it as "gummy." Sure, the bar for bread is higher in an Italian restaurant than others, but it wouldn't have made the grade anywhere. Better to go with no bread. The arrabbiata burrata and caprese pasta were both great. I would probably ask for a short pasta for the arrabbiata next time. The bucatini is long and too dense to wind on your fork, but yummy! The pesto on the caprese was so fragrant and lovely. We finished off with a tiny tiramisu. All in all, good. But that bread was an honest to good SHAME. read more

We had an excellent meal here. The price point for pasta dishes was a bit high, but overall well worth it. We started out with the gnocchi, which came baked in marinara sauce and cheese with bread to dip in the sauce. Gnocchi had a fabulous texture and taste. Pasta portion sizes are large and I was able to make two meals out of my entree. Our server was helpful and engaging, and we never went without refills. Staff frequently came by to clear the table of any extra plates or glasses. We sat on the patio and it was a nice ambiance with flowers and string lights. Came in with a few out of town friends on a Saturday evening with pretty high expectations for a 4.5 star pasta bar and was disappointed. I thought the food was average at best. The cacio e pepe was perhaps the dish that shocked me the most with how underwhelming the quality of the pasta it had and how much of a Parmesan taste overpowered the entire dish. The burrata & pesto and rigatoni was acceptable but again nothing to write home about. The interior was very pleasant and service was great. However, I will most likely look elsewhere in Chicago for an Italian food experience. read more
