First of all I asked for a BOWL not a CUP! who is this a "bowl" for? A Smirf?! Secondly, all was put together quite sloppily. A no no for take out hunt. that reflects back onto your restaurant. I've been wanting to try Torchy's for some time now, and I'm glad that I can finally check it off my list. My girlfriend joined me on my visit and we were both eager to see what they had in store. We ordered our food to-go while in-store. The inside of the restaurant is much more spacious than I'd expected. I was pleasantly surprised! It was clean and decorated in a fun way. There was even an outside patio area that looked perfect for tacos and drinks. The staff were very helpful and were patiently assisting us as we asked different menu questions and decided on our orders during our first visit. Service was for sure a 10/10! I ordered a Baja Shrimp taco and a Mr. Orange taco. As you can see in the pictures, they wrap the tacos in their own individual foil wraps. Personally, I was not a big fan of that because it makes tacos wetter and gives the tacos a smashed look. My Baja Shrimp was a 4/5 stars. There are a couple of additional modifications that I'll make next time to bring it to 5 stars. I chose the option to have my shrimp grilled. I was very satisfied with the size of the taco and the amount of shrimp piled inside. I wished I had ordered just two Baja Shrimps instead of 1 Baja and 1 Orange. The Mr. Orange was not nasty, but not delicious either. The seasoning was a bit salty. The taco was not visually appealing given the ingredients were all rolled up, pushed together, and distributed a bit unevenly. I simply adore Torchys. We lived in Austin for three years (where Torchy's started) and ate it once a week while we lived there. The tacos really are "damn good" and delicious. You really only need to order 2 to feel full (3 if you're hungry!) Personal favorites are the "trashy trailer park" and the Baja shrimp. They give you a buzzer like piece and they bring your food out to you. We grabbed seats and got our waters. The fajita taco was stuffed full of fresh ingredients! It came with a side of a tomatillo salsa. The Baja shrimp seemed to have a lot of toppings in it, but not many shrimp. It was tasty though! That one has a chipotle cream side sauce. One of my friends lives in Dallas and I told her we were getting a Torchy's Tacos. They have them all over the south I guess and finally made to Indiana. I'm glad they did. The tacos are bigger than street tacos. A little pricier, but are very good! I ordered the chicken fajita taco and loved that one and the Republican. That one has jalapeño cheddar sausage in it. I liked it but wish the sausage was cut up into pieces to make it easier to eat. The street corn comes in a huge dish and is good as well. They have a ton on their menu and outdoor heated seating. This Tex-Mex taco spot is always a favorite in our family. We used to go all the time when we lived in Texas and they became my husband's favorite. You order at the counter and then they bring out your food to you. Food came out relatively quick and I liked that I was able to sub something on my taco when ordering. I got the scalywag which was the taco of the month but substituted chipotle ranch for the peach habanero jam. I also got the trashy trailer park which means that they take the lettuce off and put queso on the taco. This was my first time having the scalywag and it was delicious, definitely the best I've had here. The trashy trailer park is a little spicey but good so I continue to get it despite it giving me heart burn. I got a Tito's cherry limeade to drink and it was the perfect amount of sweetness and alcohol. I will be getting it again next time. I the love ambiance inside and how well lit the place is. They have a bar area with TV's which is nice for watching sporting games. Give this taco spot a try and you won't regret it! read more

I got the latter extra trashy as the server suggested. The meat is well seasoned and tender and the toppings are very plentiful and of course fresh. My wife had a Cross Roads taco. It had a very tender and plentiful helping of brisket. We got some churros with caramel sauce to take home but they smelled so good and were so warm, they didn't last the trip home. Now, what every successful eatery needs is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable servers. We'll, if you dine in the bar area SONNY will give you the absolute best in service and guide you to favorite menu items. She was one of the friendliest servers we have ever experienced. You can tell by watching her and interacting with her that she loves her job and believes in their products. If you haven't been go. We've eaten here several times since they opened and do enjoy it overall. Only real challenges keeping us from frequenting more often are that it's on the other side of the county from where we live and there's a good bit of construction always going on along the way, including immediately next door to the restaurant. When you enter, you are essentially already in line to place your order at one of the registers. After placing your order, they give you a device to set on your table so they know where to bring your food, which they are extremely prompt to do. They do offer bar seating where there is table service in case you do not wish to go through the cash register lines, but that is not our preference after trying it once. Favorite items include their guacamole (one of my favorite restaurant versions around) and of course their tacos [Fried Avocado, Salmon, Migas]. Their tacos tend to be priced anywhere from $3.50 for the breakfast-themed options to $6.50 for the more expensive proteins. They have non-taco items on the menu as well as a "secret" menu that includes 5 or so other larger/more expensive tacos. They do have a loyalty club that emails taco-of-the-month info as well as special offers such as on your birthday. Only catch is that you have to remember to check in when you are ordering as you are not able to submit your visit for credit to your loyalty account after your visit if you forget (which has bitten us on most of our visits). read more

The tacos are REALLY Good! Torchy's has a fresh flavor that comes from quality ingredients. Damn Good Tacos is what their sign says, and I have to agree with them. I miss the option for a hard-shell taco, but as full as the tacos were, I can see why it's not an option. Their chips and salsa (free refills) and their taco sauces had excellent flavor and some heat. I like things spicy, but if you don't test first as the "Torchy" part is there in the salsa and the sauces. The staff was friendly, although they were busy, and there were times that we had to wait to get someone to service us. The dining area is relaxed and has a cool but casual theme. They have several unique taco offerings that set them apart from other taco places. I had the Mr. Orange and the Trailer Park taco. They were both excellent, and I still have a few I want to try. Having gone to college in Texas, I was a huge fan of Torchy's and was missing it terribly--imagine my absolute JOY when I stumbled upon it while running errands in Fishers. I love this place. It is important to note that this is pure TEX-MEX which is a different genre from Mexican. The queso is hands down the best thing about Torchy's AND also the tacos are top notch. The Baja shrimp tacos are my go to (add in some Diablo sauce) but there's something for everyone, whichever protein you'd like (including options for vegetarians). The ambiance is an interesting mix of sports playing on TV over in the bar to picnic benches outside to indoor booths-- you can definitely find space for anything you'd like, whether you're there to watch the game, eat with family (kid friendly!), or have a birthday gathering. I went here on a strong recommendation from my uncle. Living in California for the last 20 years, I would never think to look for tacos in Indianapolis. In any case, I made the effort to go and even took a friend. I should have known first the name I should've known from the location. I should have known from the concept of Mexican fusion that wasn't identified as such... Somehow salmon and tacos just didn't seem right together in my head. I should have known from the vibe on an early Friday afternoon with the aggressively perky bartender/waitress whose name and personality we both "Sunny. " But, alas! I tried anyhow, and ordered the salmon, tacos and in-house sangria. The sangria was good enough, but once again, I should have known by the "tortilla" that my "taco" was served on. It was more like a mix between a corn and flour tortilla With beans mixed into the batter. It was spongy and flavorless and appeared to be way over processed and waterlogged. The salmon looked like your typical microwave fillet a squiggle of Sriracha on top. It was not delicious. At all. Nonetheless, I forced myself the taco and honor of my uncle's enthusiasm, and keeping polite company. Within an hour, I was asking for ibuprofen ( I'm not a big pill-taker, so that was a red flag). Within 2 hours, I was so hot I was peeling clothes despite freezing temperatures. With three hours I was meeting some other friends across town, and had to excuse myself within the first 15 minutes, only to spend the next 15 minutes projectile vomiting in the ladies room. We came here a few weeks after it opened after hearing the excitement from all of our Texas friends. The vibe is super cool inside and there was a line out the store. The staff was great and the line moved quickly. We opted to eat out on the patio even though it was a cold day. It was enclosed, heated, and great for extra space. We got the chips and queso, Airstream Salad, Fried Avocado taco, and Chicken Enchilada tacos. The chips were pretty oily and the salad was too spicy for me to eat. I wish I could handle spice more, so just take note that their food has a kick to it. My fried avocado taco also had a kick to it and I ended up just eating the avocado. My husband thought his tacos were too oily too and we ended up leaving almost all of the food behind. We never will write anywhere off, so I'm sure will be back in the future. My first experience at Torchys was confusing. When you walk in, there's a line to the counter so we stood in it to order since there was no hostess stand. However they also have waiters, so some people went & sat straight down. I don't like spicy food so I ordered some tacos on the menu that looked safe -- the fried avocado and the Mr. Orange. My husband got the mofaux and the Brushfire, plus an appetizer of chips & queso. Maybe I'm naiive & should've picked up on it from the devil logo, but EVERYTHING WAS SPICY. Like ours noses were constantly running. This was disappointing to me because the menu didn't say these items were hot. Even the queso was spicy, so it was unenjoyable to me.
