All the reviews about the poor customer service are absolutely true. The female cashier was very unapproachable. We ordered a chicken grande burrito (which was cold) and after several bites we unraveled it to discover that there was no chicken inside. Once we brought it to the attention of the female cashier, she examined it VERY closely and took it to the back to be "re-made." No apology. It took several minutes for a new one to be brought out for it to only two pathetic pieces of chicken inside. How does that even happen in the first place did someone prior to us order a plain burrito and never picked up and it was given to us?? The other night I went and picked up my friend to grab some tacos. I love this Torchy's location. The manager Jason is always friendly and has a smile. Currently they are only doing curbside so when we got there this lady named Ashley greeted us at my car. She took our order then quickly came back with our drinks. My friend and I were catching up and laughing. Ashley came back and check on us while we waited for our food and every time I rolled my window down she made us LAUGH. If I could give her 10 stars I would. Even though it was warm out and she had on her face mask and gloves....she was probably the best server I've ever had. I love Torchy's. I really do but for the life of me I cant figure out what the heck takes so long for your order to come out! Knowing they're slow AF this morning I cranked up my laptop to do an online order in hopes that I could skip the long wait. I placed the order at 8:39 and was quoted 9:00 for the pickup time. I live down the street from this location and left immediately. Stopped at Starbucks, ran into the grocery store for two items and drove across the parking lot to arrive at Torchy's at 9:03. The curbside server comes out and tells me it's not ready yet. This particular morning was interesting because there was no one else there. I know this because I was the only car in the parking lot and the dining room is closed. So why after 24 minutes isn't two measly breakfast tacos ready? I wait another 11 minutes, count em ELEVEN minutes before the server finally comes out with my order. 9:14 to be exact. From the time I hit send on my computer to the time my order walked out that store was 35 MINUTES!!! For two breakfast tacos???!!! That is just insane. They're always slow but usually I stop in in the morning when other folks are there or on a busy weekend when I can cut them slack for being busy. But today they had no other customers but me and it still took 35 minutes for two breakfast tacos. I can go to a sit down restaurant and my food doesn't take 35 minutes to come out. At this point it's turning into one of life's greatest mysteries because I really want to know what and the heck is taking them so friggin long in that kitchen. Well I happened to stumble in on national margarita day and low and behold I see the frozen margarita machine. Immediate winning on their behalf. Service was quick, guac was good you can taste the freshness of the cilantro. I ordered one taco to test out and boy was it good. Only thing is I wish we had an option to choice the tortilla. I have been to this taco chain many times and like it because of the fried avacado taco and the prickly pear fruit punch which is a N/A beverage. Normally, I dine out by myself about 99% of the time because I just pick up snacks to keep me going throughout the day. After shopping today, I had wanted to pick up a light lunch and decided not to go in after I saw the pitchfork decorations on the doors. OK, my review for the San Felipe Torchy's may be a bit biased. While I was sitting in line one morning to enter a nearby grocery store (due to COVID-19) an employee from Torchy's came by offering free breakfast tacos for the folks waiting to enter the store. Of course, that gesture made me stop by for a Togo order before heading home. My tacos were fine. The only negative was that considering that the restaurant was empty at the time of my arrival, I thought the wait time was a little long. However, I will go back when in the area. read more

I had a pretty good experience overall! I went on a Sunday afternoon, and there was a big parking lot with plenty of space. It did take quite a bit for the food to be ready, but the line was pretty long and there weren't a ton of people working at that time. The food was great, and service was pleasant. I was shocked to see reviews on Torchys so low! I love their tacos. They aren't authentic Mexican by far but they aren't supposed to be! It's a fun twist on tacos. I love the trailer park - and make it trashy! I make all their tacos trashy (which just means add queso) and their queso is delicious with that pop of guacamole in it! You can also get any of their tacos on flour, corn or in a bowl if you're doing low carb or don't like tortillas! They have a wide variety of salsas and awesome drinks And I had no issues with customer service as I noticed some of the other reviewers noted. I live right around the corner from this place and while they are extremely slow the food is great. I am sad to say this will be my last visit at ANY Torchy's. I sat alone on the patio, about 3/4th of the way through my meal the manager comes out and asks me to move to a different table, because I'm not far enough away from the door, though I'm alone on the patio. And he had on his magic mask! I thought it was pretty ridiculous they opened their dinning area well after everyone else in the strip center. Several times I showed up to eat but they were still doing cub side, so I Passed them up to eat next door and sit on the patio. Now I'm beginning to believe it's an ownership issue. Had a terrible experience at this location yesterday. It was Cinco De Mayo and Taco Tuesday but that doesn't mean you don't communicate accordingly. Had order online for pickup at 6:24 and it showed pick up for 6:40. I did not receive a phone call nor an email updating my order saying it will be delayed an hour and a half. Got to location and a huge wait. I asked how long the wait would be and no one working there could give me an answer. Waited for 30 min and then just said I would like to cancel my order. They took my order number down and had to wait another 15 min to cancel that order. Every other Torchy's around the area stopped taking online orders earlier because they didn't want this to happen. I'm not sure why this location couldnt have done the same thing. I understand how they were very busy , just wish they would have been better prepared and had better communication. read more

Tried shrimp and brisket tacos, good flavor but the size could be a little bit bigger.

Apparently they make their own corn tortillas and these are super thick and doughy inside. Literally as thick as pita or gyro bread. Don't bother mentioning that your order isn't correct either because they don't care unless simply "Oh ok" is acceptable. Possibly the super young and apathetic staff is to blame? I guess you shouldn't order tacos with corn tortillas here if you don't want a Greek style taco. Also they over flavor the guacamole at this location. I never would have realized they used the same spices/ flavor in their queso. Yes the guac tasted like strongly like queso! Never had that happen at any other Torchy's read more

My boyfriend and I ordered from this location tonight for the first time. No issues with customer service however the food was really salty. I like salt but this was almost inedible. I ordered the trailer park (trashy) and he ordered the regular trailer park. His taco came with one small piece of chicken, a little lettuce and cotija cheese. No pico. We had referred this location to our friends a couple months back (because we love Torchy's!) but they also complained about the amount of salt in their food. We used to frequent the rice village location and after moving to this area we were excited to be close to Torchy's again. Hoping that this location can make the needed changes soon. read more

I know Torchy's is popular--I used to live near the Shepherd location and would visit most weekends. Most locations I see are busy. I was very excited when I saw that one was opening near me onSan Felipe. Sadly, it seems like the high quality of the food is not traveling well as Torchy's opens new locations around Houston. A phoned in pick up order was not ready when I arrived, fine, if they were crazy busy. Waited 6-7 minutes. Headed around the corner to my home--food was already cold--and the corn tortillas were under-cooked. The flavor inside the tacos was still on point--once warmed up.
