Torchy's is always a solid pick! Went while walking around the shops on 19th street. Shared chips and queso which was just the right amount of spicy, the half-street corn, and fried avacado taco. Everything tasted great. The floors were quite slick though and no signs - so be careful in there!

I really wanted to love Torchy's from the recs I got to make a visit. But I was a little underwhelmed with their tacos. They were definitely loaded & tasty yet weren't quite as amazing as Velvet tacos. Trailer park was overseasoned/salty and the poblano salsa was too creamy to enjoy the generous portions they serve. Ambiance & menu overall is really interesting. Definitely worth a visit.

Yummy taco spot in the heights. I know a lot of people will say Torchy's is just hype; but I really enjoy their tacos. They are a little on the pricey side ($16 for 2 tacos and a soft drink) but they really did stuff them full of meet and toppings. I've done both carry out and dine in and no complaints. There was one time my carry out order was missing stuff (didn't catch until I got home since the bag was tied) and they promptly corrected the issue when I contacted them via a refund. If you're looking for a quick bite to eat, I'd say give them a go!

I love Torchy's! They're pretty consistent with their food no matter which location I visit. I also love that they serve breakfast tacos all day (I love the Wrangler). I've been to this location a couple of times. It tends to be one of my go to spots before a show at the Heights Theater across the street. On my most recent visit, I had a beef fajita taco and it was really good! The meat was seasoned well. The portions are always so large so I'm usually good with just one taco. I also had a margarita. I've never ordered an alcoholic drink at Torchy's before. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! I was expecting it to be watered down and mediocre, but it was legit. My friend ordered chips and queso and something was off with the chips. She let an employee know and it took some time, but he brought her out a fresh batch of chips and queso. This location has a pretty decent sized parking lot. If it's full, there's usually street parking available. They have outdoor seating in front and on the side of the restaurant. The inside of this restaurant is larger than I realized. They have a main dining area as well as an indoor/enclosed patio. For some reason I always forget to scan the app for points when I order inside. I need the cashiers to start reminding me lol. Like Freebirds, they offer a reward for your half birthday (a half order of queso). There's a secret menu on the app, but I haven't ordered from it because I'm a creature of habit.

Came here for breakfast and the tacos were great. Super stuffed. Lacking a little something but I can't put my finger on it. Overall a good taco place.

We ordered a to go a tray of different tacos & hillbilly queso with chips. Pickup service was easy. I tried the crossroads (brisket) & beef fajita tacos. Everything was very delicious! The queso is addictive and the crossroads was my fav!

Got the Air Stream salad to-go. Ordered it with chicken. The quantity of chicken provided was pathetic. I searched under the lettuce to see if I could fine any, but none! Service was fine; it was to-go.

On Saturday, 28JUN2024, my much better half and I were given a superior (motor)vehicle tour of the HoustonTX-USA by semi-reTIRED realtor EDIE. I was enchanted with her showing us this vital Houston origins on Buffalo Bayou. [I've already explored parts of Houston/SE Texas/SW Louisiana on my Doublevision, particularly during 2011 and 2012 (the former is well-documented in my 4th book: "Dry'd, Fry'd & Sky'd by Headwinds and Heat:.."] Soon, I will be residing in this expansive community for nearly a year and will gain a much more intimate view/understanding from my "FrankenBike"! Anyway, during our brief luncheon drive about, "TORCHY'S TACOS" was the perfect/classic Houston food typical of this fine community. Despite not being particularly hungry and attempting to slow down my intake of calories, I chose a side dish of street corn. Surprisingly large, I'm glad to not have ordered more of the delicious menu offerings. I will certainly have ample time to try many other items, and if the scent is any indication, my cycling will help justify all the purchases! It definitely has my coveted "¡Wheel of Approval!"

Inside it is a one room eatery with counter service. My first visit was to try the Birria Burrito for $16 with the meal delivered about 10 minutes later. It consisted of their Birria meat cooked for 4 hours mixed with chorizo, cheese, rice, beans and sour cream all wrapped in a large flour tortilla seasoned with their special red colored seasoning. With the meal came a cup of consomne'. Guy Fieri would say, Welcome to Flavortown! It was delicious. The Birria beef was so tender and the flavored flour tortilla with that proprietary red seasoning they use was perfect. It was a very filling meal and well worth the price. So much so, I thought about it the next day. Another visit was to try one of their specialities, the Quesabirria for $14. This meal consisted of 3 grilled and crispy corn tortillas seasoned again with their special red colored magic dust. The tortillas had the delicious Birria meat and cheese inside and I again loved them. The tortillas are only slightly crispy and the meat, cheese and tortillas memorable. This meal also came with a cup of consommé for dipping. Another nice thing about eating here is the customer service. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The guy bussing the tables acted more like the owner than an employee with his helpfulness and the actual manager came out to check on us. Impressive for a counter service restaurant. Tacos Dona Lena deserves its reputation as one of the best restaurants of its kind. Incredible food and employees all at very reasonable prices. We pulled up to this food truck and, while placing our order, I instantly had the feeling that this crew knew exactly what they were doing. The tacos were fresh, flavorful, and packed with the kind of simple, honest ingredients that make great breakfast tacos so satisfying. No gimmicks, no unnecessary fuss -- just well-executed food that delivers exactly what you're hoping for. Since it was my first time here, I ended up ordering 1 chorizo and 1 asada taco, churros, limon aguas, and my friend got the asada taco as well and a hortchata! Since it was super busy (especially on saturday night) it was about a 30 minute wait foe our food but it was well worth it! They hand out free chicharrones and they were super crunchy and a nice snack while we waited for our food. The limon aguas was super refreshing especially in the summer heat and the horchata was really good! We sat at the counter top that overlooks the kitchen. I love that the open kitchen concept so you can see them making your food right in front of you! Everything smelled so good so I was excited for my food. I love that they give radishes, cucumbers, and plenty of limes on the side. I definitely love all of the toppings and the more the better! I tried all of the salsas and the salsa de chile de arbol was by far my favorite! super spicy but had so much flavor. The chorizo was good but a little dry for my liking. I did just want to try it so I can try more than one flavor but I think I would get it again as a breakfast taco with egg instead. The asada was my favorite of the two so much flavor and plenty of meat! I was content with these 2 tacos but I could have definitely eaten more if we didn't order churros as well! The churros came with classic condensed milk and dulce de leche which is just carmelized condensed milk. The churros were crunchy and warm on the outside and had a chewy texture like mochi on the inside! Super yummy and not too sweet! I liked both sauces and would definitely get this again. Overall, I had a great experience and I will be craving the tacos until the next time I can come back! I can't wait to try a lot of their other menu items as well. Definitely recommend!
