Ordered the $20 double feature. 6 carne asada tacos on corn with beans, rice, two drinks, and for valentines weekend an order of churros. Tacos were fresh and tasty. Staff who took our order was super friendly and let us know one order of nachos were big enough to feed two people and they were right! My husband and I stopped by Torchy's for lunch because we were starving, and I had one question in mind: does the queso live up to the commercial? I could drink that queso, so I had high hopes. Ordering was off to a weird start since everything is done on a touchscreen with no greeting, and the system feels more complicated than it needs to be. The taco menu is messy and not very appealing...why is there teriyaki sauce on a taco? The only thing that caught my attention was the steak fajita taco, which I never order at a real taquería, but we went for it anyway. We ordered two steak fajita tacos, a Crossroads taco, pinto beans, and the Hillbilly Queso. The staff was friendly when they brought the food and service was quick. The queso was delicious, the pinto beans were good but could be better, and the tacos were the biggest disappointment: all the tortillas were cold, the steak had a nice grilled flavor, and the brisket was dry. I've had gourmet tacos with bold, thoughtful combinations (even grasshoppers)and street tacos made from every part of the cow, but Torchy's combinations feel like a 4‑year‑old raided the fridge and threw random things into a taco as a joke. Clean, fast, efficient location. Arrived around 12:15, ordered in person, not at one of the two available kiosks. Chips and queso came out as we got our drinks. Tacos came out shortly thereafter. When we were done someone took our plates, noticed we still had some queso and brought us a reload of chips-lived that! Manager went to every table asking guests how their experience was. Some of the best tacos around. A huge variety of tacos that you can order and all of them are good. Pork, chicken, shrimp and salmon are some of the many different types of tacos that you can get. Food is tasty and has a good range of spiciness. My wife does not like spicy foods and she can get tacos here and loves them. Meanwhile, I love spicy foods and can get spicy tacos and load them with Diablo sauce. Also, when you go, get the queso. They put Diablo sauce, Cojita cheese, cilantro,and guacamole in it. This torchy's is clean looks great has great people working at it. The food is good. The only complaint is they give much less food here at the torchy's in The Woodlands then at other torchy's. The chips we ordered large and it looks like they gave us half of a small order. Maybe 20 chips for $8. Each of the tacos, we had the chicken, had only one thin strip of chicken in them. The cheese it looks like they gave us about half the amount that they give it other torchy's. I know they need to make money but this is very inconsistent with the other locations. read more

The food was fine. I had one taco and a small side of chips and queso. The most disappointing thing is the "lack of Torchy's." Walking in, there are no humans. There are two kiosks to place your order. Four words were spoken to me on my entire visit when my order was brought to my table. If you want something like extra hot sauce, you have to get up and track down a human. And the music was sooooo loud it was like a midtown club. It's hard to put into words but it felt sterile, impersonal, and awful. I've eaten at dozens of Torchy's over the years across the state and there's always a buzz with quirky, fun people working the counters, etc. This is completely different and it's unfortunate. Our bartender was Ashley. She was warm, welcoming, and the vibe was like when you meet that old friend you haven't seen in forever... and they just happen to be a bartender at Torchy's (no... not the free drinks kind). She hooked us up with a copy of the new secret menu (gonna say here that Tipsy Chick needs to come back). I had The Matador, and The Ace of Spades, which we came to the conclusion that when anyone orders the Ace of Spades they should sing it like Motorhead. It made the ordering so much fun. Both tacos were loaded and omg good af. You have to check out the picture. We had house Margaritas (because we earned them at the gym). All in all Ashley gave us a dining "experience" that was refreshing, kind, engaging, and all around awesome. She was the cool bean serving the awesome sauce and I will absolutely be back. I'm sad that this place has bad reviews. Because genuinely from my recent visit, I was moderately happy. I recently had a bad experience at the conroe location with terrible service, so I was delightfully welcomed to a calming environment, in a convenient location, with workers who were nice and compassionate. Not only is the service nice, but their hours are an extra 30 minutes longer than most torchy's. The food was very consistent and even though we took take out, we were very happy with the tacos. But on the downside, we also ordered chips and salsa and when we made it home there was no chips in sight, just salsa. So we ended up having to drive to HEB to grab tortilla chips. While it was a fun adventure, it was not fun getting ready to eat and seeing that what you paid for wasn't there. If you're in the area and have never had torchy's tacos before. I definitely recommend giving this place a try. But if you're taking takeout, make sure to check the bag before you drive off. read more

Went here because we wanted some good tacos and the one in the vintage has a great rep. Apparently that's not the same at "The Woodlands" location. First thing we noticed was the cleanliness. None of the tables were wiped down, and there was still leftover chips and queso at the bar from a previous customer. Keep in mind we were in the parking lot for about 10mins and no one came in or out. Even the bar was filthy, the chairs had wet shoe prints on them as if someone just used them to step on recently. The drink menus at the bar were very dirty and had food all over them when they were handed to us. It was a huge turn down, so we ordered only chips and queso. The chips were very stale. We do not recommend this location to anyone. I don't know how this building passes any health inspections, absolutely filthy. Yummy. I'm a big fan of this taco joint and have been since I first enjoyed visiting their place in Austin, Texas where they started. I don't know if you can really call them Mexican Tacos but then again when you have good food wrapped in a tortilla, how else can you describe them? I've had tacos with a myriad of fillings but in this case I would venture out and call them Tex-Mex tacos. My favorite are the brisket tacos called the "Crossroads". They come with a slice of avocado and if you order the tacos in corn tortillas, they serve them with two tortillas which I use to make two tacos with the generous amount of filling they serve. What I like about this location is that their tortillas are made there, in-house! Fresh in-house tortillas makes a difference in flavor! Drop in and tell them Gabriel sent you. You won't get anything extra but they will wonder who this "Gabriel" is that everyone is talking about. Lol! read more

The Tacos were great, we tried an assortment and they were all good. The pork green chile taco was my personal favorite. We also had the queso and chips which were great. This is a terrible Torchy's and I will be shocked if it is open much longer. Because this Location is close to my work, my friends and I come here often but tonight was the last time. 1. It always seems dirty! The floors are often slick (my daughter fell tonight). The tables are never wiped down. 2. Only one person is working at the register ALWAYS, even during a rush. The service is very slow. The person that delivered the food tonight did not have good hygiene. 3. Tonight we were served queso in disposal cups... I'm assuming because no bowls were clean. The past several times we have ordered the chips and queso, the chips have been stale. 4. The food is always dissatisfying. Tacos come out hastily put together and cold. 4. I love Torchy's and am going to miss them dearly when I move back to Florida for school. They would make an absolute killing in any Florida college town. Pictures is two Wrangler breakfast tacos! We could each probably eat two, but just the one is satisfying every time. These both have brisket, eggs, potato, and cheese. It usually comes with a medium heat salsa verde, but I added avocado to mine and got Diablo sauce...SO DELICIOUS. I also recommend the avocado hot sauce if you don't want to pay extra for avo, but still want some creaminess and added heat. I would eat at Torchy's every morning if I could.
