This place is comfort and lively at the same time. It is a couple blocks away from the movie theater in the landing. There was not a long wait coming in at peak dinner rush on a weeknight. It is definitely more relaxed and for families to enjoy. Chips came out piping hot crispy with not only salsa dip but also a fried bean dip. I ordered the carnitas steak and it came out with bell peppers, onions, and beans. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium pink and flavorful. It also came with sour cream and guacamole. We found Torero's to be in a safe part of Renton. But - street parking only! Not good for an old guy who can't walk very far. But, we made it! Such a nice place inside and out, great atmosphere. And the Staff! They really welcomed us, made us comfortable. When our friends arrived we were seated and the Service was Top Drawer beginning to end. The Food, OMG - the crafters in the kitchen know what they're doing. This was not suburban shopping mall Mexican fare. What we received was so fresh, so good, so well crafted, prepared and presented - and so delicious I wanted to take some home! Torero's is no joke; they're for real; they're proud of their place, their Service and their food and it shows. By the time we finished and were leaving, the line was out the door, people waiting to get in! Do I recommend Torero's? Resounding YES!!! We'll be back to Torero's no doubt. I was nervous eating here as it seemed like a total flavorless Pacific Northwest white person's restaurant. I was right. "Cheese dip enchiladas"on the menu was the first warning. At least say chile con queso for some sort of authenticity! I ordered what I felt was safe. Chicken taquitos. They were a messy horrendous disaster. Taquitos are little rolled crispy tacos. I have never had a taquito made with white flour tortilla. They would have been acceptable but they were covered with celery laden liquid sauce which made them wet and soggy. So much you could not pick up. I asked the bartender to make a less sweet margarita and he did. It was nice but the $19 price tag was a lot....along with the almost 20 dollar appetizer of mushy flour tortillas with celery! read more

Checked this place out yesterday over at the Landing in renton. My daughter ordered the Mexican pizza and I ordered the $20 butter shrimp dish. My favorite part about my meal was RV's homemade tortillas. They were amazing! I love how they serve beans and salsa when you are waiting. The beans and chips were really fresh and good. My daughter enjoyed her Mexican pizza but it just had A lot of cheese. The $20 butter shrimp dish was really good but it's not worth $20 at all. You get 6 pieces of shrimp and A LOT of mushrooms. There is anything special about it to cost that much. I wouldn't order it again. Food came out hot and fresh and was really good though. Also not like many people care but I do! If you want great Mexican food - this is the place. AMBIANCE There's a lot of space and tables so having a group dinner here is really doable. The noise level can be loud during dinner but it's more of a vibe and brings to the ambiance vs being a negative thing. Love hearing them sing their version of "Happy Birthday" to the celebrant so if you go for a birthday, have them sing! FOOD You get complimentary chips, refried beans, and salsa as a starter while you decide what to order. The refried beans dip is one of the bests I've had. It's seasoned unlike some places where it feels like they just boiled or fried the beans and smashed it without adding anything to it. This beans are warm and yummy! CARNE ASADA The meat is soooo tender. They ask how you like it cooked and to me medium rare is perfect; especially since I have left overs, when I reheat it's still tender. The dinner size is a large portion (see pic for reference). They didn't ask what type of tortillas I wanted like in the past but they gave me the FLOUR TORTILLAS and that what I wanted! It's warm, soft, and fluffy. You can enjoy on its own but with the refried bean dip....YUM! TACO SALAD (BEEF) It came loaded with protein (on the bottom) more than what hubby thought that he's noting to ask for extra lettuce next time. Love that the shell is a fried shell and not a baked one. PIZZA and FRIES Yup, you read that right...pizza and fries. And thank goodness because my son wanted pizza and to our luck it was on their kid's menu. The crust is fluffy so it's really easy to eat. It's not your typical pizza crust. SERVICE Outstanding service! They were so attentive noticing when our drinks were low, asked how we're doing, and was quick to bring anything we needed. Food came out quick and delicious! And the touch of them calling us amigo... you gotta love it. They are under new ownership but thank goodness the quality of food and service stayed in tact. These guys have really made a mess of what used to be a great restaurant. After I posted my review outlining all the issues I saw since they bought the restaurant, I got the posted reply from new management. I reached out to them as suggested and they did not reply. Like most, they try to post something positive to make up for the fact that no flunks are given! That should have been the last straw, but I decided to give them one more chance. Per the menu, they have a 1/2 pound hand formed Angus patty, for $20. That alone is ambition with Red Robin next door doing the same with bottomless fries for less. Placed the order and when the food came, I noticed a few things right away. The portion of fries was happy meal size. The patty was not hand formed, it was food service and it also appeared to be 1/4, not 1/2. I got about half way through before I got someone attention. It was a manager and when I explained my concern, the look on his face told me he know they were full of BS. He said he would talk too the kitchen and since my burger was half the size, he'd only charge half the price. YOU CAN'T TRUST THESE GUYS! Prices are already unreasonable, then they pull a stunt like this? I can say, I won't be back and after eating at every Torero's location ever opened several times this is a sad ending for a name that used to represent value, flavor and integrity. We came here on a Sunday evening to take my dad out to dinner. We were seated immediately! The restaurant was pretty busy with people celebrating birthdays (we were celebrating my dad's bday but we didn't tell them bc my dad didn't want the attention so we piggybacked on the other table being sang happy birthday lol)! The food was great, consistent with Torerros. Quality was good. I love how they serve not only salsa with the chips but a side of bean dip as well. I got the chimichanga with birria beef (basically shredded beef) and so did my dad. My sister got the fish tacos. Everything was good and came out quick. What happened to Toreros amazing customer service? We have been supporting this local business since it was in the old location near Fred Meyer. We have had a few issues in the last few years. But continued to order food to take home during the pandemic and going in when they reopened. We recently ordered a to go order. They forgot 1 entree when we got our order, it was $18 so not a small amount. I called to get a refund. I was told sorry no refunds. I explained but we hadn't been given the item, and we're home. Too bad, food is unrefundable. All the said was we can either come back or next time request a free entree. This is will keep our family from returning any time soon. First time here to this location at The Landing. Food was pretty good-- I did really like the Chili Relleno. Service was okay, a little slower than I would like. The atmosphere is nice. I am disabled (trouble walking) and the place was easy to get in and out of, and there was plenty of room between tables for me and my Walker. The restrooms were also easy to access, no problems. The big problem: Limited parking. I need to park close to where I am going. This place has no dedicated parking lot. There is some on-street parking but it was all full. My friend dropped me off and had to park 1-1/2 blocks away. That might preclude me from ever coming back. All in all, pretty decent Mexican food. read more

Solid spot for classic Mexican eats in The Landing. My friend and I came here for lunch and had a fun time, given our super friendly server and strong, scratch margaritas! Located in The Landing in Renton, parking is easy to find, as there's free parking in the designated parking garage, as well as several side parking and lots around. The space is large. Right now, the bar is closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, and every other table is blocked off. It was easy to social distance here, with how spacious the restaurant is. At this time, they are only serving their dinner menu. No lunch specials. But they do have lighter meals, with not as large of portions. There was a lot to choose from on the menu, with traditional Mexican entrees, of different protein options. But I went with the loaded beef nachos while my friend had the shrimp enchiladas. More importantly, we both started with the scratch, house margarita, which I higgghhhhly recommend. The nachos were solid. Chips were covered in melted cheese, ground beef, refried beans, sour cream and guac. I got the full size because my I was hunngrrry, but it was way too big. For one person, get the half size and you'll be satisfied. I don't think I even ate half. My friend enjoyed her shrimp enchiladas, but said it wasn't her favorite. Our server was super friendly and social. If you're coming here for an hour lunch break, the food comes out fast and service was speedy. But I recommend coming here for when you can really enjoy a marg or two because they were definitely the highlight here. Just note that they are $15, which is steep. My wife and I went for lunch last Friday. I ordered the Torero's salad and my wife the Tortilla soup. The salad with chicken was almost twenty dollars and there was maybe three dollars worth of material in it. It was like a bag salad really with some chicken on it. Chicken was good -grilled -but very skimpy -about four or five half inch wide strips. Twenty bucks for a salad -really? And this was on the lunch special menu. Very small portions. The soup was OK -but spicy and needed sour cream to cut the heat-but none was offered. I have not been in Renton for a time-but 40 bucks for lunch -really? We used to go here when they were in downtown Renton some years ago-but now they are going for the Bellevue crowd perhaps? I'll keep you posted if I find another place-or not. read more

Me and hubs came here Saturday night around 6pm. We sat in the main restaurant, our server Francisco was very attentive and helpful. My partner is vegetarian so he ordered a enchilada with just beans inside and then rice on the outside and sometimes some people don't understand that, but Francisco made sure to go over our order which was perfect. We had a couple beers, a savory meal, wonderful service and the guacamole had chunks of avocado which i love. As soon as we were seated they gave us hot tortilla chips, a side of beans and chunky salsa. There was someone constantly refilling our waters which is ideal for me cuz im that b that drinks after every bite. The restaurant was practicing social distance by seating people at every other table and all of the servers from what I could see were wearing masks. Came here late Sunday and sat at the bar. Service was good and came with complimentary chips and salsa. Ordered tacos combo with rice and ordered the pork meatballs soup. I ordered the chipotle one, but they accidentally gave me the regular one. Instead of remaking it, they gave me cold chipotle peppers in water to put in the soup. I assumed they would've at least puréed if for me instead of a whole pepper. Didn't want to complain, but instead I tried my best cutting the peppers and just dumped it in the soup. The soup was delicious, but definitely not worth $14 for that bowl. I would come here again. -1 star because of the chipotle incident which I feel they could've at least puréed it or took it back and fixed it for me. read more

This restaurant is conveniently located in the middle of The Landing. It offers a wide variety of Mexican foods, from pozole to tacos to burritos. There's definitely something for everyone. The service is super attentive, quick and friendly. The food comes out piping out and is really flavorful. I ordered a side of guacamole (great consistency, perfectly seasoned) and tacos al pastor. The tacos came out so hot I couldn't even pick them up, so by the time I got to eating them, the tortilla ended up being a little soggy, but the meat was well-cooked and well-seasoned. This place is definitely a little more expensive than most Mexican restaurants I go to, but they're operating in prime real estate, so I get it. Also, this is apparently the place to celebrate your birthday.
