A friend visiting the area, staying at a hotel by BWI, and I had dinner at Toro Bravo on 11/12. Every staff member was terrific. I had a Mojito and it was very good (but a bit too sweet). My friend had mixed fajitas and said it was good. I had the shrimp fajitas which was a disappointment only because someone decided to put green zucchini and yellow squash in it - both I cannot eat. When I mentioned it, there was no move to replace it so I picked at it and ate what I could. (I looked at the menu again this evening and no, it does not say that squash and zucchini were part of the dish). The churros were very good. The meal was fine - if a bit bland. Need to spice it up a bit! The staff really did make an "eh" meal much better. read more

This place is good for a quick Authentic Mexican Meal. I've been here twice now, both for lunch. The first time I went, I got the lunch special Chilaqulies Rojos ( Tortilla chips with Ranchero Sauce, Chicken, cheese, sour cream, lettuce tomatoes, and rice). The Chilaquiles Rojos was so delicious and flavorful. It's a big portion that you get, so I ended up having left overs. Although the Chilaqulies Rojos is one of those foods that you debate on taking home because as it sits, it get's soggy. But to me, it was still good the next day. The second time I went for lunch, I order the Lunch Special Grande Burrito. The Grande Burrito itself was tasty, but I was disappointed in the size of the Burrito. When I hear "Grande", I expect something big, which is why its called "Grande". This Burrito was in deed, not Grande. It was the size of a regular burrito. The only thing I could think of, is that the burrito wasn't Grande because its a Lunch version, but other than that, I'm not sure. I ate my whole Burrito and about less than an hour later, I was back hungry. I would like to go back and try something that's not on the lunch menu. I hear they have really good drinks for Happy Hour, so that would be a good time to go. I had a new experience tonight. First of all, I travel about 150 days a year, so I eat out a lot. When I actually was seated, had to wait a bit at the door for anyone to notice me. No, it was not busy. Only 5 of the 14 tables were full. That is not the new experience. When the server brought my food to the table, he did it with one hand as he was using the other hand to text on his phone. He walked around the restaurant texting or surfing, I could not quite tell. Honestly....mehhh. I was in the area at lunch time to catch a movie and drove by this place, figured I'd give it a go. There were a lot of people there. The host greeted me right away and was very friendly. I ordered the cheese enchilada lunch with rice. Honestly, aside from the chips and salsa the food was not good. I was trying to figure out what I was going to eat last night. I wanted to try a place I haven't tried before. So I looked on Uber eats to seek out a place. What do I see? Toro Bravo. Tried it. Ordered the beef Burritos Mexicanos. 2 burritos covered with beans, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole. Big mistake. First the presentation looked like a disaster. I opened the bag and saw that the container that the burritos came in was pushed open slightly. The sauce from the burritos had spilled out in the bag. So, already I'm shaking my head. It looked like a crime scene. But I figured I would still give it a try. I went to move the burritos from the aluminum container to a microwave safe plate and the burritos went limp and felt soupy. Burritos ain't supposed to feel like that. So I knew I wouldn't be eating them with my hands, but with a fork and a knife. It tasted terrible. I can't believe I spent $25 for that. I tell you what. It won't happen again. A picture of the receipt is below. The queso dip had the nerve to be $4 and some change and that tasted like smooth slop. Uber eats gave me a refund of $5. The restaurant itself is nice and clean, a little small. The food was good, I got a quesadilla, however the size of it was disappointing. It was so small and it wasn't even cut into small pieces, maybe I'm spoiled but it's usually cut for me and it's bigger than one small tortilla size. read more

We've been back to Toro Bravo a couple times since my last review and the food is decent, but the service is still hit or miss. Either the waiter is either eagerly awaiting you to be finished (even though you are clearly enjoying your conversation and having a couple drinks) or I have to hunt down the waiter so we can get the check. I'm a big fan of the steak burrito and my husband likes the seafood fajitas, but the service is always what we talk about when we leave- not the food. read more

This is an authentic mexican restaurant. Went here afterwork with my coworker/friends. The food was good, but the drinks were wonderful. I had the house margarita ( 16z.) with a shot of tequila for $11. Then the mango frozen margarita and it was delicious. They are generous with the alcohol and good taste. Will come again. read more

Went on a Sunday. Wasn't busy. I sit at my table. The guy comes throws the salsa bowls and fills it up. Looking at menu I decide on the pick 2 with rice and beans. I came here for lunch a couple of times with co-workers since my office is nearby. It's solidly okay. There is MUCH better Mexican food in the area, for the convenience of the location in regards to nearby offices makes it worth a trip every now and then. The non-lunch menu items are really expensive for what they are and the lunch menu items, while reasonably priced, are really small. The food tastes okay if you like a more Americanized version of Mexican food. I enjoyed the food I've had here but it's nothing to write home about. The staff is very friendly, though I would attest to the fact that maybe they check on you too often. We don't need checked on every few minutes. At a certain point it stops being courteous and starts being annoying. I'll probably come back here at some point when we've cycled through other lunch spots in the area, but I'm not chomping at the bit to return. read more

Toro Bravo was not the type of restaurant I was expecting. Given its location in a tiny strip mall of sorts anchored by an Urban Barbecue at the other end of the parking lot I expected it to be more of a quick service place, bit it is a full sit-down restaurant and bar. The bar area is fairly large with several wide screen TVs, and the dining room is partitioned off with no TVs at all (although it's possible to get a seat where you can still see them if you want.) They have a fairly extensive menu of Mexican fare, and fans of the nearby El Salto will not be disappointed. In fact, my wife is convinced the menu is identical to El Salto's. They do start you off with a bowl of crispy chips and mildly spicy salsa. Maybe they're owned by the same people? In any case, my wife is a fan of anyplace where she can get Chili Relleno, and she loved hers. Tender and filled with a huge amount of gooey cheese, she polished off her entire plate. I ordered the Chimichangas, and I was not so enamored. They were stuffed with meat, but very dry and they splashed only a tiny amount of sauce over them. I'm sure we'll be back, but next time maybe I'll just fill up on chips. read more

Happened to be in the area, hungry and saw this place. Stopped by with sister and niece. First turn off was a huge mounted bull's head as soon as you walk in. That thing smelled--disgusting! Luckily we weren't seated near it. Was there for lunch. Meal selections were what you'd expect. I ordered the taco salad, my sister ordered a chimichanga and my nice ordered the beef nachos. My sister and my food was less than spectacular--rather bland with no real flavor to speak of (my sister said the rice was disgusting). Edible, but just barely. However, the nachos were the best I'd ever tasted! We will not be going back as there are so very many better choices for good Mexican food. I get huevos con chorizo about 90% of the time at Mexican restaurants, and I eat Mexican food a lot. Toro Bravo's rendition was very flavorful, nicely portioned, and served hot and quickly. We found this gem while in town for the Baltimore Pen Show. It was a busy Friday night but we were seated as soon as we walked in the door with chips and salsa greeting us as we sat down. The service was outstanding, friendly and prompt. The manager stopped a couple of times to see how we liked the food. Mexican food restaurants are on our top 3 places to scope out wherever we're at. Nothing authentic here, but the prices warranted it though. Over priced. I also ordered a watermelon Margarita that looked grenadine colored and tasted nothing like watermelon. More like a 7-11 slurpee. No regrets trying and supporting new restaurants but this will be the first and last for my family here. Very unpleasant and unconcerned waiter too. Margarita was $8.80 and an additional $1.75 for flavoring! Sour cream was an extra $1.25. Did not even warn us! read more

This was a HUGE let down, the place is clean and the staff is friendly but my beef nachos were an expensive plate of hot mess. Just gross, the blobs of beef had no flavor, and medium rare in the middle, the chips were unflavorful and canned tomatoes. The cheese was a glob and watery I ate maybe 1/4 of the plate. This is most definitely my new favorite spot for Mexican food in the area!! The service was great, the food was amazing. The guacamole was fresh, chunky, and not too hot. Nice lime flavor too. Hubby liked the warm chips, and they gave me a plate of cucumber since I can't have chips which was a plus. Husband got nachos for dinner with chicken and steak. The portion size was great and he had plenty to bring home. I got carnitas and the meat was flavorful and tender. Not heavily seasoned and married well to the guac and veggies on the plate. Another plus to me was the use of the same good guac on the nachos and carnitas plate. I have been to other restaurants that use a cheaper runnier guac for their dishes. This is my first time here. It is clean and not loud at all. I came in at 1pm on a Tuesday. And since I was by myself, I didn't order a whole lot. I sat myself and was waited on within 2 min. Chips were hot and fresh and salsa was cold. A little spice but not to much. The guacamole was pretty tasty too. It was blended but not creamy...which is how I like it. I ordered a combo with a chicken tamale and beef enchilada, refried beans and rice, and a hard beef taco. The taco was good. Lots of meat, crispy shell, lots of cheese. The tamales looked like store bought, but we're tender and not dry. Actually tasted better than it looked. Beef enchilada was filled and fairly good. The beans were a little liquidy...kinda like when I make them homemade. Rice was good but I don't like the vegs in them (peas,carrots, corn and green beans). Service was good. They checked up on me and made sure everything was good but didn't hover. All in all, I would have to come here again with the family. read more

Just walking in the environment is similar to a bar-restaurants (sports, alcohol, etc.) The overall place is very clean and the servers are very nice. The food is priced a little more than what I would expect to pay for but not too much that I wouldn't come back. They have a large menu full of different things that you can choose from. The taste is in between authentic and Americanized (from my experience), which I understand where some people may have mixed reviews on. Once you do receive the food it doesnt look as pleasing as some places make it, but youre here for food and not the looks. Overall, I would definitely come back every now and then, but it wouldn't be my first choice for Mexican food. read more

Went here last weekend for first time. You must get their guacamole!! It's served in a HUGE bowl, and made fresh for each order. You can watch the waiter/waitress make it at a little guac station towards the kitchen. I watched the waitress cut fresh avocados, onions, herbs, everything. Pretty standard Tex-mex casual Mexican place. The menu is huge and the food usually comes quickly. I've never had to wait for a table which is a plus too. The bar has a lot of TVs and usually have a good selection of sports playing. Free chips and salsa too to start. read more
