Seemed like a nice place when we walked in, but when my wife and I asked for a menu, we were told that "it's on the table" and the waiter pointed to a bar code on the table. I guess you're supposed to use a smart phone and squint to read a menu because the ownership is too cheap to spend money on menus for the patrons. We also have a strict rule in my house: NO CELL PHONES at the table. That is reserved for the family dining and communication experience. I don't need to dine in a place where you see a bunch of idiots staring at their phones instead of enjoying each other's company. And there's A LOT of that out there today. So, I will not support a business which forces me to use a phone in order to place an order. NO cell phones at the table. Period. We left and enjoyed a REAL dining experience -- La Posta in Old Mesilla. Won't bother coming back to this joint. read more

Amazing every time. There were 8 of us and the service was impeccable. We ordered appetizers; toro tots, cheese fries, and fried mushrooms no complaints. 6 adults all ordered burgers and all were super happy. I ordered the "Firey green Chile burger" and it had so much flavor and it's enormous. Well what was even more enormous was the what my son ordered "The Grand Matador Burger" double elk patty. (My son says the only way to go is the elk patty but I'm not quite there yet. They also offer wild boar. Seriously holy crap! Not only did he love the flavor but I loved the price. The amount you get on all items is great for the prices. The 2 kids with us had chicken and mini burgers and for picky eaters they ate it all. Our service was tip too too. The waitress was very friendly and missed not one thing. She smiled and seemed happy to be at work(which is weird for theses strange times) . I was super pleased with my experience and highly recommend this restaurant. Super comfortable laid back and kid friendly. Oh and great music playing. The food met expectations. The service was pretty poor. Took 40 minutes to get drinks and water. The beer menu did not match what was actually available so it took 3 attempts to get something they actually had. My wife had mixed drinks. Her first came out okay. The second was delayed by 30 minutes. Our "date" lunch took almost 2 hours. We were hopeful for the new location. Looks like we don't be coming back. read more

This place is hit or miss with the service. On our last visit, there were four waitress with a total of seven tables (inside and out). It took 10 minutes for someone to offer us drinks at which time we let her know we were ready to order - thank goodness for the QR code on the table so we were prepared when she came. After ordering it took another 35 minutes to receive our food - no offer to refill our empty water glasses during this time either. There were at least two cooks that I could see and they weren't busy so I'm not sure what the hold up was. We've been frequenting this location since it opened and service has always been an issue. When our food came it was delicious, as always. We continue to go despite the poor service because we love the burgers, fries and the outdoor seating area. The guacamole bacon burger is fabulous. If you decide to go, remember to bring a good amount of patience and enjoy the food. read more

A week ago I went to eat a hamburger!!! I paid in cash and told the waitress that the rest should be charged to my card along with the tip!!! He made me two charges, one from the account and in another I charged the tip! I asked for my money back!!! because they charged me twice the account!!! Well, surprise! Not only did they charge me double, but they also charged me another ten dollars more! Seriously, the waiters are stealing from the client and how they make the charges to the card, many do not notice it, fortunately I have mobile banking and I could see two more charges!!! They have to be careful in this restaurant because the waiters are putting a tip on the card that you don't leave behind!!! read more

My husband and I were visiting family in El Paso from New Jersey, and I had wanted to find a restaurant with a good veggie burger....not at all interested in a doctored up 'Impossible Burger' or 'Beyond Burger'. Toro Burger Bar advertised a Black Bean and Sweet Potato Burger that caught my eye. We arrived shortly after 12:00 on a Thursday afternoon. The restaurant seemed 1/4 full, with one person, Adan, being the host, the bartender, and the server. What an impressive job he did all the while wearing a smile. He was quick to suggest an IPA, the Voodo Ranger, that my husband truly enjoyed. My husband ordered the Kobe Burger and a side of parmesan fries. Burger cooked perfectly with my husband saying it was one of the best he'd ever had. My black bean and sweet potato burger was awesome as well (I had even ordered it with no Toro Sauce and no cheese)! The sweet potato fries had so much flavor that no ketchup was required! Adan was very attentive and served everything, along with some modifications, as ordered. We will definitely be back the next time we visit! read more

Food was amazing. The service, not so much. We sat outside on the patio which was very comfortable. The server took our order pretty quickly but the drag time between the order and the food/drinks was way too long. Checked on us only once, no water offered, never cleared our plates or asked if we needed anything. There was only 2 other tables and had there been more, I'd be more understanding. My wife and I loved this place. We were greeted immediately when we walked in and and treated like family the whole time. I had the green chile burger and it was probably the best burger I have had in many years. We had a drink with our meal and they were delicious. Our server was Anissa, and she made sure everything we ordered was to our satisfaction, she was very friendly. The manager also came by to ensure everything we had was great. Me and my friends are regular costumers there. We went today and it was the worst experience ever. Ever since they changed there location the service got horrible. The chef doesn't know what is he doing. He doesn't know how to even cook the burgers in the right temperature (not just this time). The waiters are just careless. I was pretty disappointed with the food. It all sounds so amazing on the menu, but the burgers were overcooked, the buns soggy, and the tater tot special was not that special. We went around 6pm on a Saturday, which I would've expected to be the family friendly hour. We ate outside, where most of the families were seated but the music was super loud and it was hard rock. So my wife and I decided to try something new near our neighborhood- boy did we pick the wrong place. We ordered our food and waited 20 minutes to go pick it up. As I walked in to pick up the food, they greeted me with saying that they didn't have "half" of our order and that we could sub it with something else from the menu. After completing our new order, we got home to open our food. The kids chicken tenders were burned so wildly that we couldn't fathom how they could burn them so bad. We tried to peel the breading from the chicken and literally half of the tender was gone. The chicken was flavorless and honestly, horribly cooked and flavored. My chicken sandwich was ok but it was falling apart and Just bad. We learned our lesson about trying new places out. read more

Before deciding to order here, I saw several raving reviews. Among them, Toro was listed as the #4 burger place in all of Texas. After ordering takeout from Toro, it would be safe to infer that they paid a hefty sum for that magazine spot in the "best burger" category. From the very moment I picked up the burger, my experience with Toro was beyond upsetting. I called the restaurant to pick up curbside, and despite my order being ready, it took them over 6 minutes to bring it out. This was only after I called multiple times to make sure they knew I was waiting. Everything on the receipt was correct, and yet when I got home all 4 burgers we ordered were incorrect. While I asked for basic exemptions such as "no lettuce or tomato" all the burgers came with the toppings I asked to be excluded. On top of this, 2 of the burgers that had no exclusions on the toppings came without several ingredients that were listed on their menu. Although the burger order was entirely incorrect, the drive back and wait was not worth bothering so my family and I ate the burgers. These burgers were the furthest from "the best in Texas". So much so that I would've preferred a whataburger with bacon compared to this sorry excuse of a "burger". We decided to call the manager to inform him of our incorrect orders, and we were promised a call back to possibly get a refund or credit. We are yet to receive that call, although given the already horrible service, this doesn't come as a surprise. I would implore all reading this to find almost anywhere else to get a better burger. Do not be fooled by a paid magazine spot for a below average burger. read more
