Great sushi! Very good service. I eat here 3 times a week at least.

We we're looking for some Sushi in Cheshire and I remembered Toro from several years ago. We had to eat in the car because of Covid. Ordered a Kanni salad and special salad with seaweed. Both were very small portion and dry. Also two avocado rolls one with seaweed wrap one with soy paper. These were adequate. No drinks. Price $22 take out. Not the best so many better choices for a bit longer drive and less expensive. I don't mind to pay more for good food but this was not that. read more

Their instructions for when to pick up the food was unclear, they asked for my number for the order, I gave it to them, I waited for 30 minutes and went inside, they said that If I didn't get a phone call yet it isnt ready so I waited another 30 minutes and they said it has been ready so I told them I didnt get a phone call then they said that they don't call to say it was ready. Their instructions were absolutely unclear and they tried to make it my fault that I didn't get the order even though they made it seem like they would call. Not to mention that the quantity and quality of the food was not good. read more

Being the only place to serve sushi in Cheshire should instantly give them a 5/5, but there are other reasons too. The sushi is reasonably priced, the food is great, and the staff is friendly. I love getting a bento box for lunch or the pepper tuna/sunomono for dinner. I come here with friends at least once a week. There is only one downside, they don't deliver. It's too bad they don't, I mean they could use silver spoon or something... Ah well. Still 5/5. read more

The sushi is absolutely delicious! As are the soups and appetizers. And they are always so friendly. It's a small place but a really nice, cozy atmosphere - good for a date. The takeout is always ready very quickly. A real gem in an unexpected place. Never been disappointed! read more

Toro Sushi is always fresh, the service is quick and Tony is the best! I definitely recommend Toro Sushi. Their prices are reasonable and they have a very large menu with lots of vegetarian options, too. Plus, the rolls are very consistent because I tend to order some of the same rolls whenever I go there. I like the Elf roll which is scallop and avacado, the spider roll is always perfectly cooked and I love the out of control roll, too. Take out is usually a 15 minute wait. read more

At Toro we got edamame and shumai for appetizers as usual - both good, though not extraordinary. We got five rolls to share: spicy salmon (because it is always good), peanut avocado roll (honey roasted peanuts and avocado *swoon*), a New York roll (Smoked salmon and apple with sesame seeds, tasty but a bit bland), a sweet potato roll (tempura sweet potato with bonito sweet sauce, my favorite of the bunch) and an Indian roll (yellow tail and banana, my fiance's favorite). The service was great (hot towels to wipe your hands with after your food) and the decor tasteful. I'd definitely recommend it. read more

Not great. My family and I go out for sushi at least once each week and tried Toro for the first time. The sushi was just fair. The salmon was really fishy tasting which is not a good sign. Although presentation is not a big deal for me, this was pretty lame. 6 rolls just crowded together on a cheap plate. The service was adequate, but we will never return to this place. read more

I ordered the House Udon with seafood. The menu says it's a stew. Usually a stew means it's something that cooks for a while and also usually the broth for Japanese soups simmers for a while and has good flavor - THIS was like they dropped noodles and vegetables and a few small pieces of fish into hot water and then served it. Zero flavor. I told them and they told me they put flavor powder in it and maybe they didn't put enough. Flavor powder in soup for $15? I can go get top ramen and do that myself. Very disappointing - I'm sure people rarely order soups here but if you can't take the time to make a proper broth then take them off the menu Toro! read more

I have been a big sushi eater for a long time, and this place is at the very top of my list Nationally. Nobu, Morimoto, Blue Ribbon, etc, all have great Sushi because they use great fish vendors and know how to cut and serve, these guys are in that league. Premium quality fish, perfect rice and great knife skills at Toro. By far my favorite in CT. It's not a trendy looking or fancy place but it's a great place if you want real deal sushi. read more

This place recently changed it's name "Toro" but it should've been Terrible instead. The service was average, but the food was terrible..... meat wrapped in plastic wrap, onions were served as their "vegetable" with the meal. I would not recommend. read more

We continually go to Toro at least twice a month if not more. I always start with the Kani salad, and my husband the seaweed salad. We generally order the Elf, Phoenix, and Vocano and try a new roll every time. The service is always quick and attentive. The food is always fresh and carefully prepared. We had a little problem with the waitresses not understanding us and was given the wrong check twice and tried to explain but they just didn't get it. However, we will come back. My absolute favorite sushi place. We order from here weekly and are never disappointed. The Calimari Roll and Spider Roll are my favorites. Prices are good too. You have to try this place! Wow! This is some of the best Sushi I've ever tasted! Its such a tiny little place, run by a wife and husband. Its not bad for Cheshire, but its not my go-to sushi restaurant. I go every once in a while just because I live very close. The atmosphere is a little too dark/dimly lit for me but usually pretty clean and the service is usually pretty good. Definitely not the freshest fish I've had, I would say middle of the road. read more

This restaurant is awesome!!! One of my favorite items is hamachi kama (broiled yellow tail collar). Not too many restaurants have this delicious part of the fish on the menu. The sauce is made from ponzu and yuzu (Japanese citrus) and is so light and refreshing. Gyozas are cooked perfectly, as is the unagi. I hate hard cold unagi. Toyo grills their unagi which makes it tender with a little crispiness on the skin. They pair it with spicy mayo and tempura crunchies. Yumsie!!! The fish very fresh as well. My husband's parents live in Cheshire so it is very convenient. And in my opinion, it is so much better than sushi places in New Haven. read more
