I've been to this restaurant quite a few times over the past years and neglected to give it a five star rating as I try my very best to give as many positive reviews as can. There have been a five star rating in my mind each time I've been there, however, this last time was unacceptable. It was a busy Monday evening and we were introducing friends to toro, as we were at a growler house next door. The hostess greeted us and gave us a menu as we asked for carry out. We were ready to order and she never once greeted the four people standing behind me and did not make eye contact with me to take the order. 15 minutes passed and I walked over to a server to ask if I could order. She wrote down the order as the cooks yelled 1 hour wait for food! She told me that she will call or we could come back in an hour to pick up our food. 45 minutes after the order, I walked back to Toro to check on my order, needed to flag down the hostess to ask for an update. The place had four tables, the rest were empty. She told me ten more minutes. I left, went back to the growler house and returned in ten minutes. This time the server greeted me and asked how she could help. I mentioned that I put in an order with her an hour ago and was here to pick up my order. She asked the cook and they hadn't even started my order. The order consisted of six rolls. It amazing how you can have such an amazing experience for years only to have one huge disappointment create a sour taste in your mouth. I cancelled the order and will be hesitant to order again. The taste of the food is so-so, but probably the best you will find in the Spokane Valley. read more

Wow! We came in for lunch and loved it!! Sushi was fresh and delicious! The restaurant was very neat and tidy. The service was better than outstanding! There is no kid menu so we had improvise but even our 10 month old son loved their chicken rice bowl. read more

How was the food? Well I couldn't tell you. I work near by the restaurant so I have stop by to get lunch (during lunch time hours) on three separate occasions and each time they have been closed. This last time was at 2:00 in the afternoon and they don't have any normal hours so you're stuck trying to guess weather or not if they will be open. When I questioned the employee for the odd hours he just gave me a sarcastic "sorry" and went back to cleaning his wok. Definitely will not be coming back to this restaurant. read more

I was visiting from California and saw this sushi spot. The decor is really elegant and modern. I had a Dragon roll and a Salmon bowl. The food was awesome and fresh. I went back again before going back to California. The prices were decent then again I'm used to California prices and the portions were adequate for a sushi restaurant. Well, Saturday night (Royal Wedding Day & all) & we decided to go out for dinner. I am visiting from CA & staying w/my son & his girlfriend. For the record, this is my first Yelp Review & I am very sorry to say that it won't be a good one. I'm not a big Sushi fan (just my bad) & decided to order the Beef Teriyaki as it was a rib eye steak which sounded good. The food arrived & the steak was completely over cooked & dry. Only a few pieces in my opinion were edible. My son tried the steak as well & labeled it "shoe leather". Our family is in the service industry; my older son is a chef in Big Sky, Montana & I have worked in the design industry. We all have stories to tell of dissatisfied customers & how we handled the situation. Bottom line, we all resolved the situations favorably for the customer. Even if it meant that we took a loss on food or an exclusively designed piece of furniture. Toro Sushi (the chef) not only refused to credit me for the Beef Teriyaki, but charged me for a new entree. The staff, who were awesome and obviously embarrassed, informed me that I would be charged for both meals. I paid my bill & I did tip the staff, but I was appalled by the chef's behavior & attitude! I basically paid for a $20+ meal that I did not eat plus another meal that I ended up taking home w/me. My son eats here often w/his manager & other employees & unfortunately, because of this incident, I sincerely doubt that any of us will return to your restaurant which is a shame as I realize it is not easy to run a business. read more

OK, here is the deal, for years Ginger Asian Bistro on the South Hill has had the best sushi in Spokane. I tried out Toro Sushi as I do with all the sushi restaurants in Spokane. I sadly came to realize they now have the best sushi in Spokane. I wish I lived closer. They don't skimp. They wrap big chunks of fish in your sushi. I melts in your mouth and the flavor is so fresh. The taste is amazing. I feel very bad for Sushi Saki down the road (11520 E. Sprague). They don't even compare. Don't get me wrong, they are good and I should share Sushi Saki will add little things to your sushi, like cream cheese, with no charge. Toro Sushi charges a dollar. Toro Sushi kicks butt in other areas like customer service, free salad and soup, staffed well, and attitude. But for me those things don't really matter. I just want some good sushi. And Toro Sushi will exceed your wishes. read more

My wife introduced me to Sushi about a year ago and we've gone to most of the local Sushi spots over the last year. I was excited to take her here for Valentines lunch as I discovered this one before her! We both LOVED it. Great atmosphere and we had good friendly service. Not super fast, but the rolls and even the Sushi bowl were AWESOME! Been there twice now and plan to come back often! Definitely top of my list for Sushi in Spokane Valley area! read more

I've been eyeing this place for forever. I didn't feel like going very far to get sushi today so I opted to try this place finally. Service was good, most of the girls were new and the place was moderately full. They did keep pretty on top of it though. It didn't take long for me to get my food. I ordered the seaweed salad (Yum!), california rolls, and smoked eel. There was a small oops where I got smoked salmon instead of the smoked eel but they fixed it no questions asked. All the rolls were delicious but the smoked eel was the best. I haven't had it in forever and it was well worth the wait. Everyone there was polite and friendly for the most part. read more

Ridiculously long wait for a to go order. Placed the order in person before 4:45pm it wasn't ready til 5:25pm. They said their internet went down, so they had to wait for it to come back up to charge me. In my opinion that is horrible customer service to have someone wait that long for a to go order. I've ate at Toro sushi over the years since around the time when they opened. While Toro has been my favorite Sushi restaurant in Spokane for years I will most likely no longer be returning due to the poor service. On 1/3/15 we went into Toro with 4 tables occupied. They had one server working who had us seat ourselves. After we seated ourselves we sat for like 10 minutes without anyone bringing us a menu, and eventually just left. It wasn't like they were swamped either. It literally takes two seconds to bring a menu and tell someone you'll be right with them! Usually, when there is poor service I endure, but we had gotten horrible service in December as well. When we stopped by in December at Toro, the restaurant appeared to be slightly filled and the service sucked. The server took our orders, and then took so long to get back to us that the other server asked us if we were ready to order. As we waited a year for our food, we were finally brought the salad that comes complimentary with all orders. The salad is usually brought at the same time as the miso soup which also comes complimentary with the order. However, we had to ask for the soup. When we finally got the soup it was luke warm and gross. Toro must go out of their way to hire horrible servers and fire the good servers, because I can think of two or 3 good waitresses that they have had, and the rest have been horrible! Besides the terrible service Toro also runs out of stuff all the time. If you go their to order food their will be a 25% chance that you won't be able to get what you want because they don't have this or that. When I first ate at Toro I would have gave them a 5 out of 5 review, but now I will be going back to downtown Spokane for sushi where someone will actually want my business. read more
