Toro is our go-to Mexican food place. Great service. Great food. We always get our food fast.

Great place, we went to Ranch Viejo right down the road a couple weeks ago and it was so awful that we needed some good Mexican food. We've been a few times, great service and food. The salsa could use a little kick but the tacos al carbon and beans and rice were exactly what I needed! It's usually not hard to get seated, great for impatient kids who need to eat now! read more

Wow... I'm really unsure why they don't have a 4 star or more rating. The service was exceptional, and place looks very clean compared to many dives I've been too. Considering that I'm born and raised from San Diego anyone reading this should take my recommendation like it's the Bible. I had the Junior's burrito which didn't disappoint and was delicious, creamy and perfectly cooked. My boyfriend had a combination plate with a chili relleno, and cheese enchilada which was also good. Per other reviews stating that the rice is crunchy- that is true but that's how I like it! Haven't y'all ever seen the show Survivor and everyone is fighting over the crunchy rice- because it's bomb.com that's why! Anyways, I digress.... I would only state that overall the dishes and salsa could be spicer. I would definitely eat here again! read more

Worst food ever!! It's NOT MEXICAN FOOD, it's dog food. I'm Mexican, not from Idaho, I'm a transplant from Cali. I grew up eating Mexican food- real Mexican food, where EVERYTHING IS HANDE MADE, everything was full of flavor!! It seems that their so called Mexican food is whiten down and cooked for the population- white folks. I would rather eat at Taco Bell, taste better and cost less. read more

We were staying in Hayden and we're looking for something close so we decided to try. First the ac didn't seem to be working & then they brought 4 cups and then filed with water. The glasses were dirty, and one glass had weird stuff floating in it. We left without eating and will never go back. read more

My husband and recently moved here from California and have eaten at many great "Mexican Restaurants". We have been eating out a lot. We tried Toro Viejo in Hayden. The restaurant is nicely decorated. The service was fine. The chips and salsa were not very good and not tasty. My husband ordered his usual: cheese enchiladas and a shredded beef taco with rice. He said they lacked much taste and were very average. My two tacos with rice and beans were the same. They lacked good seasoning were very bland. Our overall rating was two ordinary somewhat bland meals. Nothing to write home about. read more

Very disappointed in food and service. Stopped in for an early dinner. No other customers. Food arrived promptly and was hot. Three other tables had patrons. Saw three other employees (other than our server) working. Queso Fundido was a total waste of money. Tasted horrible and was runny. Hardly any cheese present. Chips had funny after taste and were thin. Had to ask for a drink. Server took my request and didn't ask if anyone else wanted a drink. Had to ask for refill. No refill of waters, chips and salsa without our asking. Place was clean but we won't go back. read more

I enjoy sitting in the lounge area which is to the left of the reception area. The atmosphere is friendly and casual. I ordered menudo and a margarita which were both quite good. Great place to meet up with friends. And the service was very good. read more

When my wife says the food is bad and we are never coming back, then you know its BAD!!! She gives everyone the benifit of the doubt, but not this time. Horrible experience. Floor had food everywhere when walked. It made me take notice of everything ele. Should have walked out. Food was terrible, bland, and over heated. Spanish rice crunchy from warmer. The big white 55-gal chip barrel was filthy on the outside. Service was bad, but servers were polite, even the spanish mumbler. Paid cash w/ tip, handed to server and he never said, Thank you, please come again- just "want change". Restraunt is DIRTY. Dont get me started, Geasy hand marks on booth wood were every grabs to sit down - yuk. And the pictures on the sites are staged or from a different dimension. Love going in whether it's with family or friends. The servers are always friendly and can remember what you ordered on past visits. And they never mind accommodating special requests. The salsa is tasty as well, and that can be a make or break for a restaurant. read more

The food was pretty good but what put this place over the top for me was the service. The waitress was super nice. And when I asked if they had spicier salsa, since I'm from TX and my spicy meter seems to be totally different that N. Idaho, she totally got it and had the kitchen whip some up for me. Even offered to packed it up so I could take the rest home. You have no idea how happy I am to finally find a place that can make flavorful spicy salsa!! read more

Wow...where does one start? Went there trying to get a decent mexican dinner...but was let down the moment we received our food. My wife's fajitas were not bad...shrimp was a little old...mine...well when I received it...the taco was ice cold. The tamale was barely warm and tasted like fish. I didn't even look at the enchilada...just knowing if everything else was cold...well...you figure it out! After 3 attempts at the taco...they finally got it right...after using the microwave. All the food tasted as if coming from the #10 food cans. I never thought someone could ruin mexican food...well I found the spot! I would not...nor will I recommend this place for anyone! Too bad...as the evening went on I got a really bad stomach ache...not good! read more

This is the place I always want to go to. I have tried several dishes but usually get the comb plate. I lived in Ca. a long time time & while this is not as spicy as there I add a little of the hot salsa & its very good. Wish it had the melted cheese dip or the marinated jalapenos with carrots to serve with the chips but this it I think the best in this area for sure. The fajitas are excellent also. read more

We are Hayden locals, and typically go to Rancho Viejo, for no reason in particular. After my husbands softball game, we decided to mix things up and try Toro Viejo instead, as they are right next to each other. I checked Toros website, stating they close at 10. I felt bad pulling into the restaurant late, but as I have been in the restaurant industry in the past, I know that you as an employee, work until the exact closing hour. We pulled into the parking lot at 8:54 PM, and as we were getting out of our vehicles, I heard the front doors lock quickly. We attempted to enter the restaurant, and at our dismay, the doors were locked and the employees had their back's to us. Needless to say, I guess we do go to Rancho Viejo for a reason, and had a very delicious, and accommodating meal. read more

I used to love going here with my son....Key word "used" to. The quality of food is poor and the prices are ridiculous also the staff treats there younger workers like garbage because they are young and I guess they feel as if they can. Note to the owners of Toro Viejo please be aware that maybe the kids do not understand when they are being harassed when you are speaking in Spanish but let me tell you everyone has a cell phone and if people are not being treated properly all they have to do is hit record....They also have access to every social media site known to man and they just may reveal everything you do not want the public to know! ; ) read more

Do not go to this restaurant if you want to experience good Mexican food. I have eaten here twice. The first time was not good, but I thought I would give them a second chance. Big mistake. I have been eating at Toro Viejo in Hayden for about 8 years. It used to be my favorite mexican food place in CDA. I loved it the most at the old location and noticed right away that the food quality went down hill when they got the new location off of honeysuckle. But I still kept going because I still liked it and the prices were reasonable and the staff nice. Today, wow. I will never go back again. They charged 1.95 for adding sour cream and guacamole... which i knew and sucked it up.. but when my mom asked for a little more sour cream, they wanted to charge more for it.. wow. also, you have to ask for them to add beans to the taco salad. they are the only place i know of anywhere that does NOT have beans on a taco salad. Then when i got the bill, they had charged 1.95 each for the beans! Thats a $10 taco salad that had watery ground beef (had to ask for an extra plate to get rid of the juice), beans, cheese, iceburg lettuce and a few tomatoes with 1 spoonful of sour cream and guac... wow. i could get better for cheaper at del taco. Also, when i told them about the charge for the beans, they treated me very bad. I just went last week to the downtown cda location with a friend and they did NOT charge for the beans. When I told them that, they said they were going to call them, and tell them they cant do that. They didnt do anything to try and fix the situation.
