I was trying to dial in a new espresso machine and decided to rule out one of the variables - properly roasted beans. Decided to stop by Torque and check out their offerings and I was not disappointed. Andy took the time to talk to me about my experiences and offered quite a bit of free advice. He and the rest of the staff are extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of coffee, from roasting to grinding and preparation. I tried a cup of his recommended Guatemalan variety and it was really good. When I mentioned that I was trying to grind beans that day for another espresso experiment he said that all of their pre-bagged beans were just roasted the previous day and needed a few days to rest. The next thing I knew they were taking beans from their own supply and bagging them with a cute little note that had details about the beans and recommendations. This is my new favorite coffee spot! The espresso drinks are absolute perfection--not only are they beautifully crafted, but you can taste every single note of the espresso, which I have never really been able to do before. Their scientific approach to coffee is fascinating, and it's clear they put a lot of care into every step. The staff is wonderful to talk to and incredibly knowledgeable. I bought beans to take home, and they took the time to give me detailed advice on how to dial them into my espresso machine. It is a great place to chill and do some work.
