Street parking only. Metered out front. Located right next to a Church's chicken. Side streets are usually packed with cars so parking is a little difficult. Small amount of tabled and bar style seating inside. They have lots of merchandise for sale inside. They are dog friendly. Order at the register towards the back. They have food and drinks. They offer whole milk (straus organic) and oat milk (no extra charge, they use planet oat milk). You can choose between two different types of espresso for your drinks, both on display at the register. Drinks take a bit to come out, come with patience. Their menu was a bit confusing with the +cold foam next to the drink which makes you think it comes with it but it does not. Took two pictures of the menu and one had the +cold foam and the other had a separate note saying cold foam $1. Iced drink creation: they add ice, then milk, then espresso and then syrup into a cup. They pour into a shaker, gently shake/swirl and then pour back into the cup. Great way to mix the flavor profile throughout. Tried: Holy Banana $8.50 - Good flavor. Orange blossom $8.50 - wasn't a fan of this one.

Came here again on a Sunday for a meet up. Line wasn't long at all, I get nervous ordering as many others do. So, I forgot to mention the size I wanted, which is 10 oz. The lady working automatically put in 16 oz since I didn't specify. I would have liked if she asked me. And I also thought that they let you choose between 2 diff beans in the latte, but then again she didn't ask so maybe that was just a one time thing (the time I went with my brother, there was flavor profile breakdown and all that). Anyways, I got the $8.89, Iced Vanilla Lavender Latte with dairy milk. They don't accept cash unless they can around the number up (I guess maybe if you order non dairy milk it will come out as an even number? Idk). I think the price is not worth the quality that you receive. It was mainly milk and couldn't even taste the espresso. A very very faint lavender taste. I think they need to rework their vanilla lavender syrup, maybe look into some culinary grade lavender as that is super fragrant. Whatever they use or the ratios doesn't come through at all. Another thing I wouldn't recommend ordering is the matcha. My friend ordered his with a little bit of sweetener and he said he couldn't taste the matcha at all, and it just tasted like milk. It was disappointing. However, my other friends, rave about Torque Coffee saying it's one of their favorites. If you tend to order espresso, pour overs, cold brews, & sparkling espresso drinks -- Torque Coffee is a spot to come to. In addition, I think the owners are really nice and they do think of their customers. I saw that they added more seating and benches outside their space. And I believe the owner brought out extra chairs and a table for us to sit as more people started to arrive. They even had a little bowl of water for dogs. The interior had some things moved around and it felt more spacious! I think if you DON'T order lattes and matcha, this spot is the place to go for you.

The interior has depth, low-top and hightop tables, and is colorfully eclectic. Staff were helpful and friendly with my order FOOD Creative, flavorful options with Empanada: filled with savory beef and peppers Flaky pastry: Cheese and Berry filling Waffles: love the addition of berries I definitely need to drop by again. I stopped by Torque Coffee to pick up espresso beans for my husband after reading so many good things on Reddit about their customer service and espresso. From the moment I walked in, two people greeted me right away and made the shop feel super welcoming. The space itself is really cute, with a relaxed vibe and a few tables where people were working on laptops. I actually don't drink coffee (I'm caffeine sensitive haha), so I told the barista I had no idea what to pick for my husband. They have really well-stocked shelves with beans roasted in house, and you can tell they genuinely take pride in what they do. The packaging is beautiful, and each bag has a card explaining the flavor notes and where the beans come from. After I mentioned a few coffees my husband has liked before, the barista recommended the Dark Drop beans. He was so kind, patient, and helpful -- especially to someone completely clueless about coffee. While I was there, he also made me an oat milk matcha with honey, and it was really good. Smooth and creamy. My husband had been gone for work for a month, so I wanted to surprise him with fresh beans when he got home. He absolutely loved them and said the espresso was balanced, bold, and incredibly fresh. We'll definitely be back to try more beans, and I'll absolutely be returning for another matcha. Thanks again for the great customer service and welcoming atmosphere!

I went by on a trip to San Diego and had a great experience. The two employees were great and welcoming. I got a cold brew and it was so smooth and yummy. Also an avocado toast which was great. Then i take a look at the beans and they're in a super cool package , you can tell so much detail was put into the packaging. And they were fresh ! I got a bag of Burundi and they were so good. I just ordered some more beans online and i'm super excited to receive them. This is a great coffee business that cares a lot about when they serve and it shows. I will continue buying beans here and stopping by whenever i'm in town. :)

STEPH JUDGMENT: Artsy neighborhood coffee joint with friendly staff. We were visiting some friends in the area who are fans of this place and they told us that they were running anniversary specials so we decided to stop by. I got a free anniversary coffee (forget which kind), which was fine, but the real star of the stop was their housemade "Pop tart", with a raspberry jam and vegan goat cheese filling that was out of this world! We enjoyed the eclectic artsy decor also and are fans!

Torque has such a positive energy about it with its bright, welcoming cafe, community driven initiatives, ethically sourced coffee beans brewed in-house, and collaborative spirit with other local businesses. They also supply free resources, namely a 'Coffee Brewing Quick Guide" leaflet for brewing between 6 different methods, perfect to keep at ones coffee bar as quick reference, especially for one such as myself who enjoys them all and rotates between the different methods here and there. Their offerings are vast from seasonal lattes made with in-house syrups, to a very spice-forward, only slightly sweet chai, and to their coffee beans. I do absolutely LOVE the graphics on their coffee bags which provide very detailed information on the bean's overall profile, but presented in such an easy-to-understand, intuitive way. Their dedication to coffee education is quite evident, a very admirable quality of this coffee shop and roaster. Parking is available out front and when that is not available, the side streets are fair game. Not a single bad thing to say about this outstanding local coffee shop!

A great way to start my morning! First time trying the coffee and I now love it here!

Firstly the service here is great. The staff is so kind. I am the biggest klutz in the world and they remade my spilled drink instantly. I felt so bad so thank you for being so kind about it. I has the Sumac Sparkle which is definately a different type of coffee drink. Its almost like an Aperol Spritz decided to be coffee but without alcohol. I enjoyed it. The waffles are to die for. No syrup needed. So good. Overall the place is super cute. And ill be coming back.

This is my favorite local spot, I walk here in the mornings several times a week for a drink & brief chats w/ the baristas. The staff is awesome, & the atmosphere is very well curated. I've lived on this block long enough to remember this building as a dilapidated eye-sore, so to say I'm grateful for Torque being here is an understatement. They've played a large role in cleaning up the neighborhood, & having great coffee & veg food within walking distance is a blessing. Also, the Americano being recently changed to the Mexicano is hilarious. To the owner - please don't ever capitulate to those who wanna gripe about a harmless joke! They can always drink BRC instead :) read more

This place is amazing!! Ive been coming weekly since they opened, I absolutely LOVE the vibe and that all of their products are ethically sourced all the way down to the equity for the farmers they get their beans from Drinks are delicious, I'm an oatmilk girly and appreciate that they don't charge extra for it. I love this little neighborhood gem! The coffee is awesome, with tasty roasts, unique flavors, and creative craft drinks. The food is good too! I especially like the biscuits - they have a great airy texture with good moisture, and a nice crunch on the outside. I live nearby and have regularly patronized Torque since they've opened. It has been cool to see how they've cultivated a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff is always sooo friendly and so are the patrons. Every time I'm there, people from the neighborhood are often casually chatting and exchanging pleasantries. Feels like a real 3rd place in the community around El Cajon Blvd where there aren't a ton of other places like this in walking distance. read more

This coffee shop is for the adventurous soul. If you like experimenting with coffee drinks this is the place for you. They have unique flavors. I got the palo santo drink and for that they put palo santo into their honey to make the honey have a unique earthy/woody flavor. I've only every smelled palo santo so to taste it was an experience. I loved it. The drink itself was a little bit on the sweet side but I was amazed at the flavor. I got their waffles to go and it was a little on the burnt side (which I actually liked-- a little bit of the sweet and a little bit of the charred side). I would def come back again. The cafe is small with only a handful of seats if you're planning to do work here. I see it more as a grab and go kind of place. The crew here was really nice. read more

We are Nanelle & Andy Newbom and we are two Coffee Lifers. In our whirlwind journey through coffee over the last 21 years we have been hands-on in nearly every aspect of the industry. We have been baristas, bar backs, cashiers, roasters, machine techs, green coffee buyers, coffee trainers, barista & roaster competitors, cuppers, judges, wet & dry mill operators, exporters, importers, and coffee brokers. From co-founding the Barista Guild of America, Barefoot Coffee Roasters and IPCoffees Mexico Importers to directing the coffee programs for multiple coffee companies we have surrounded ourselves with the magic of coffee and the magic of coffee people.

Torque isn't even fully open yet as it has yet to hold it's official grand opening, but it's already showing it's personality as a quirky shop with a super-friendly, accommodating staff. Where it really shines, however, is in the thing that matters most for a coffee shop - they serve the best damned coffee in San Diego, seriously. Not by a long-shot, but I think it might even edge out my other favorites like Bird Rock and Better Buzz. Added bonus for being super sustainable and paying coffee growers fairly. Ordered 3 drinks:…read more 1:Mexican Mocha hot with oat milk was the best I have had in San Diego!! 2: Iced vanilla bean latte made with house made vanilla syrup with 3 different vanillas was delicious. You can tell that it's not just some torani or artificial syrups being pumped into my coffee! 3: Piloncillo latte with oatmilk. I thought this was going to have a cafe de la olla vibe but it was totally different. Very refreshing and you could taste the piloncillo! Overall I LOVED the coffee. The service was also great! They were friendly and you can tell they back and take pride in the quality of their coffee! I will definitely be back!

Heard about this place on Instagram and I was in the area on a Saturday morning at 10AM. There was…read moreplenty of parking outside so my wife and I had no trouble parking around the corner. We were greeted right away and the service was pretty good since they were nice. We ordered the vanilla latte on ice with oat milk and it came it super quick. The drink was so good and had a distinct coffee flavor and not too sweet. The perfect balance We hung out inside for a bit since there was plenty of parking and AC (which is a godsend after this ridiculous heatwave). The music was blasting and regulars were greeting each other. It was a super chill place to hang out. I'd easily come back.
