I normally have nothing but exceptional things to say about Torrance Bakery. In which I have converted ALOT of friends, family and coworkers from Hansen Bakery to Torrance Bakery. But foot some reason yesterday I had yet another horrible experience with Diane at the Gardena location. Perhaps she was having a bad day, but because of the nature of the situation, her lack of customer service was not acceptable. Especially because of my current situation of residing in a nursing rehab facility currently recovering from a STROKE. Earlier in the week, from my nursing bed I placed an order which consist of a custom half sheet cake and three dozens of custom cupcakes for my boyfriend and three other friends celebrating their birthdays. As ALWAYS the custom cupcakes came out perfect. Unfortunately, the cake was not what I asked for. I expressed to Diana and another person that I really needed this cake corrected because the birthday men was not happy with the cake because that's not what we ordered. On top of bad timing from all of sudden losing a close friend from an unexpected illness during this cake disaster. As much as I tried to remain calm, Diana proceeded to become rude with me. Even went on to say in a very condescending tone, "maybe if you keep having issues with your orders, you need to walk in and order". In which she is absolutely correct! However that was the improper thing to say to me when I clearly stated to her, "I am currently hospitalized recover from a stroke". but I wanted to make sure my boyfriend and friends had a great cake for their events that I will not be able to attend due to my current health status! Unfortunately, Diana and I went back and forth about the cake in which she eventually stated would be corrected, however would take some time. Only to still have the cake not the way I asked for. All I simply wanted was for the custom photo I emailed to them to cover the entire top part of the cake with the icing piping border. But I guess to cut ink costs I was still given a small photo in the middle of the cake. Needless to say I nor the birthday gentlemen were pleased with the cake or the service I received from Diana. This may be a sign that it's time for me, my family, friends and coworker to boycott this location and take our business elsewhere, where we will be respected and receive the item that we actual ask for. Which is a very hard decision because I love Torrance bakery treats. But I can't continue to tolerate to pay the money that I pay and receive the poor customer service and be talked to in such a manner. At the end of the day the cakes and treat are worth every bit of the money they charge. They just need to retrain Diana on her customer service. My mother ordered me a custom cake for my birthday and I was very pleased with both the design and taste of the cake. The price for it was also great. Other bakeries I looked into wouldn't accept my order as they required a minimum of 2 weeks to prepare. Luckily we found this bakery that accepted it about a week before my birthday. The bakery was clean, also following the proper Covid precautions. Customer service was fine from the two women working at the front. I love Torrance Bakery. My go to cake is classics white cake with buttercream. Service is always the same, nothing to rave about but I've never received bad service. I do however prefer going to the Gardena location not only because it closer, but I've found they have fresher baked goods (not custom ordered cakes) than the Torrance location. Not sure why that is seeing as how the Gardena Location is sent their items from the Torrance location, but that has been my experience. It's always clean and not usually extremely busy; typically you're in an and out. If there is a wait it's not long. Give them a try. They won't disappoint read more

I order a cake on Monday for the next day Tuesday, the lady who took my order informed me my cake will be ready after 1pm on Tuesday. Perfect I told her I will be there around 4:30 on Tuesday. I still had time to order my cake.. how is it so many people in the store did not know that custom cake orders were cut off earlier in the afternoon If orders are cut off wouldn't it be professional to put up a sign stating all custom cake orders are no longer being excepted, wouldn't it be professional to tell all employees working on the bakery side and the cake order side that all custom orders have been stopped. It's really frustrating when you get mixed messages or you're being told one thing from one employee and a different thing from another employee.. the young lady who worked in the custom cake order worked with the young lady who was at the computer why would one young lady know and the other one not , that's when the frustration really got the best of me :( I have ordered numerous CAKES from both Torrance and Gardena store but it will be sometime before I go back!!!! Per my previous review of Torrance Bakery, this is my go-to bakery for all my events. My kids birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions. Since I haven't updated my review in a while, which is weird because I thought I had. I'll do it again! Their sugar cookies are the ultimate best ever!! I've purchased cookies for my kids and their friends to decorate, I've purchased their already decorated sugar cookies because they're me and my daughters fave. My son isn't really into a lot of sugar. I'm not sure where he came from lol because I am a sugar junkie. I even order some lego cookies for my sons birthday and they were cute as ever!! I'll definitely post pictures. I ordered special 10 cookies for my daughters 10th birthday. I ordered them with the packaging because I didn't need any extra tasks on my list. My husband and I called Torrance Bakery when we decided last minute (like 1.5 weeks before) to get a small cake for our microwedding/elopement. I emailed to inquire and then my husband called to make the order. They were able to do a semi-naked cake for us that we later decorated with flowers and berries. The cake was super moist and delicious even though we picked it up on a Friday and didn't eat it until Saturday evening. We also ordered a variety of cookies and some petit fours, all of which were a huge hit. The chocolate chew cookies are delicious. They are sold by the pound rather than per cookie, which is kind of cool because cookies aren't always uniform in size. The chocolate chews are like brownie cookies, chewy in the middle and crunchy on the outside. Not your typical cookie and the name says it all, they are very chewy. Unfortunately, the wannabe cronuts (croissant donuts) here are not good. We bought a couple and they just weren't worth eating. They didn't have the light flakiness found at other bakeries/donut shops. Maybe they were just old (we were there on a weekend afternoon), but they were pretty expensive for such poor quality. It's a small shop, but they have a lot of beautiful pastry and dessert items. Stick with the cookies, and I think you'll be happy! read more
