I have been a patient here for 5 years. I have received care from both Dr. Do and Dr. Yu and am very pleased with both! I'll see either; normally whoever is available for my requested appointment times. The office staff is friendly and efficient and I love all the means of communication they have to remind you about appointments, or notify you when your contacts are ready for pickup, etc. Their selection of frames is quality, but somewhat small. They do, however; have the ability to order some frames they don't carry. The parking garage is also a huge plus. There's always a spot and you don't have to drive around or pay. I really wish I could give this place a 5 star rating from my experience with Dr. Yu alone. He's really an exceptional doctor. He's friendly, easy to speak to and really knows his stuff. My experience with him was wonderful. He helped me to get out of my old, bothersome contacts and into a new comfy pair that helps me to see 100% better! Thing is, the staff wasn't as helpful/friendly. The receptionist was pretty RUDE to me when I showed up for my appointment. She completely ignored me until she felt like addressing me. When I finally spoke up and mentioned to her that I had an appointment, she snapped at me and got really pissy because I spoke to her while she was working on her paperwork. What a jerk! I am not sure if I will come back there or not, I really liked Dr. Yu - but I don't know if it's worth it. read more

Came from 6 miles away from where I live to this shop to buy a frame. My doctor referred them to me. I got there at 1:00 pm and opened the door, then an old lady said that we're at our lunch break and asked how did I get inside their store. She said that they would open again at 2 pm. So, I left the store right away and they locked the door after I left. WOW I think those people open for their lunch break and they don't care about making money. Very poor hospitality and I would never come back to this store because it says on Yelp they open from 9 to 6 pm Anyhow, very bad experience. read more

The staff are also extremely friendly and are always willing to answer questions and help you out. I was so frustrated with this place. The technician told me she would follow up with how I was doing with the trial contacts I was given, but she never called me. When I finally got a hold of her, she asked me if i knew my contact size. I'm like..what? Shouldn't YOU know?! Anyway, it took over 3 weeks (4 calls and 1 email) to order my contacts. I understand if they are super busy, but at this day and age, customer service is very very important! I should have known since they got my fiance's prescription wrong before! if you want to waste your day here, your welcome, ms alexander does not take the customers requests into consideration...told me she didn't have the contacts i requested and forced another brand they most likely to make more money. changed my eyes size for contacts .4 and did nothing to help me as the customer and kept me there for hour and twenty mins first time around. there's a reason her schedule is wide open. feel bad for the other good doctors tied to her. insurance forced me here and not my choice. If I could selected a "No Star" I would. More disappointment with this group. Several months ago they were supposed to contact VSP and request that my benefits be credited back so that I could get glasses at a new location because after several attempts they were unable to provide me glasses with good vision. I had not had a chance until yesterday to get to another optometrist. I selected my glasses, provided them the prescription and then was told that I did not have any benefits available through VSP. Come to find out, Torrance Optometry did contact VSP and requested that the benefits be reversed, but a few days later resubmitted the claim. This means they were paid for services that they did not rendered. VSP called the office and was able to get it resolved and all is good but it still pissed me office that they inconvenienced me by there dishonest actions. read more

Now I don't have a ton of experience with Optometrists, but this office was fast, efficient and friendly. They had a good selection of lenses and they're close to my office, have online scheduling and they were super cool with me having to reschedule an appointment too! Dr. Alexander was great, very attentive and had a lot of good information and knowledge to share about my vision. They also said if I have any issues with my glasses that I could come back and they could take care of it. Overall, they're great! read more

My boyfriend and I came in on his birthday, looking to possibly purchase new glasses for him. We were looking for glasses for him for quite awhile but he didn't find any he liked. We visited various optometry offices, Lens Crafters, and Costco. Lety helped us when we came in and we let her know we were just looking. She was so patient and so helpful. She let him know what his insurance covered and we looked at A LOT of different frames. She recommended frames based on his face shape and his previous frames. She even pulled frames that were just received to give him more options. I cannot say enough good things about Lety! She was so fun to work with and talk to. She makes choosing glasses a fun process! :) He ended up picking a Banana Republic frame and then had an eye exam the same day with Dr. Do, who was friendly and had a good sense of humor. They tested him multiple times for color deficiency and to say the least, that was my favorite part of our visit --- Dr. Do said I need to pick out his outfits now LOL His glasses were ready 2 1/2 weeks later, which was a little later than we had hoped. But no stars taken away for that because Lety followed up with us to inform us of the slight delay. We are in the office now picking up his glasses and my boyfriend definitely recommends this place! We will be back in January for a new set of glasses or sunglasses ;) read more

First time using Torrance Optometry and I must say that I was very impressed with the staff and services rendered. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by the reception staff. Wait time was less than 10 minutes. All the equipment used for my detailed eye exam was very clean and wiped down with alcohol wipes prior to use. Dr. Alexander rocks! I've been going to her for eleven years. She gave me my first pair of glasses and diagnosed me with high eye pressure which is a sign of the onsets of gloucoma. She always remembers what we talked about at our last appointment, (I think she takes notes) and says hello when we see each other around town. She and the staff are very very friendly and will answer ANY and all questions you have regarding payment and insurance. She even gave me a personal referral to an ophthalmologist that might be interested in my condition. Her assistants are good at choosing frames for your face AND your budget. Yes, its true, they don't have a huge selection of frames. Nor do they have an in house lab, which means you have to wait for 2 days, but they are more than willing to write you a prescription right there to go somewhere else. Dr. Alexander even comes out to give you the yea or nay on how the frames look on you. Going to Torrance Optometry is like coming home! read more

Waste of time AND billing issues. Waited over an hour, never saw the doctor. Free chocolates for Yelp reviews. Today I arrived to my appointment 10 minutes early. Waited over an hour to see the doctor. Throughout the waiting period, I occasionally asked the staff how much longer. They replied, ''You're the next one.'' An hour later, same response. I had other things to do, so I left. When I got back into my car, I found another optometrist and they immediately gave me an appointment. Last year, I had an issue with them double charging me for my contacts. It took about 2 weeks to resolve, however it was finally resolved. While I was waiting, they had a nice display offering a large bag of chocolates for Yelp reviews. Likely why there's so many reviews on here. My verdict: find a better place. There's other places that will take your business and treat you with more respect. read more

Of course I knew I didn't have 2020 vision anymore but it was nice to talk to a professional that was very informative, very professional and most importantly very personable and friendly. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful as well. How have I not written a review for Torrance Optometry? This practice has been taking care of me for so long, I can't recall the exact number of years, but it's easily a decade! I owe my eyesight to Dr. Alexander. She is not only an excellent Optometrist, she is a warm and caring individual. She takes the time to not only check out your eyes, but evaluate your vision in the framework of your general health and lifestyle. This is really important because she caught the early stages of an eye infection back in 2004 which could easily have blinded me. She helped me through my lasik and eye muscle surgeries and is carefully monitoring my aging vision as I make the transition from into middle age motherhood (ack!). I have gotten contacts and glasses from the office over the years, as well, and have been nothing but satisfied with the quality of the products and support. The office isn't huge, but has a very wide selection for adults and kids alike. My favorite part of this office is that they recommend frames and can order almost anything, even if they dont have it in stock. I've been going to Dr. Do for almost a decade now. This guy knows what he is doing - period! I'm extremely particular about my vision and it has to be exact - and Dr. Do has gone way out of his way to make sure everything is perfect. And if it wasn't perfect - he fixed it. I have brought my family and referred numerous friends to him. Something I don't often do which is recommending someone because it always seems to backfire. Not one person has ever complained to me. I have been going to Dr. Yu for checkups and contact lens refills for a few years now and am happy with the results. This week I took my daughter in for her first contact lens fitting and the technician Crystal was SO wonderful. My daughter was having a really hard time getting the hang of it but Crystal was very patient and encouraging. I think only because of her positive attitude and support we were able to walk out of there (after about 40 min?) with my daughter wearing the lenses with confidence. We are now on day 3 and she is able to put them in with relative ease. We really appreciated your time and daughter has declared contact lenses a "game changer." She was already nervous and getting flustered so I could see us giving up on the whole thing if you were not there to assist. We were recommended here by others and this was our first time. My mother made an appointment last month and called again last week to verify that we come in today at 2 pm. We arrived on time but waited a bit because they were on lunch. While waiting, more people arrived. A lady finally opened the door and said "Appointments? One at a time" without asking further questions such as who was there first and what not. The lady then proceeded to go back inside, without even holding the door for my mother, who was hastily walking to the door because it was going to close on her. To make matters worse, when my mother walked in she was told, rudely, that the appointment was only for her, and not for my sister and I. Unprofessional and would not recommend. read more

This place is always exceptional from expertise to customer service. I was really impressed by the way they're taking precautions for the Covid-19 situation by scheduling appts, keeping door locked, wearing masks & having air purifiers throughout the office. Dr. Alexander is so nice and always takes extra time to get to know me and keep up my life. She does a great job using her advanced optometry equipment and makes sure I leave without any questions (and still some $$$). And she's always available in a pinch to help out. One time I had a friend visiting from out of country and my friend lost her contact len(es). Dr A. made time for my non-English speaking friend (not even a patient!) in her busy schedule and gave my friend trial contacts so my friend could enjoy the rest of her trip. Thank you Dr. A! Just please stop confusing that friend with my now-wife (though not wife at the time of incident). The two are different people and I could find myself in some (un-deserved!) trouble. J/K. You're the best! If you're in Torrance and need an eye doctor, go to Torrance Optometry. And try to get Dr. Alexander. I don't know the other doctors.
