We stopped by King burrito, we used to eat here all the time the staff is familiar than ever under new ownership just recently the food is high-quality tastes great at a great price. I had the Carne Asada burrito. The person I was with had the Caldo de res price was very reasonable. I was extremely surprised. The place is hidden so unless you know it's there you don't know to look for it and you go next-door, which is your greatest mistake because the price is next-door are a good five dollars more per plate for the same amount of food and the food. Here is higher quality, fresher, and better tasting. The new owner is extremely friendly. The customer service is above and beyond any expectation the ambience is your typical Mexican food type of place Alberto's that kind of thing I strongly recommend king burrito definitely my go to spot now support a local business. It's been under new ownership for about two months three months maybe but the new owner has been there all along strongly. Recommend them give them a go. You won't be disappointed. read more

LA has amazing tacos but it's been difficult to find a good burrito spot! Having lived in San Diego for 6 years, I stand by the fact that SD's burrito scene is much better than LA's. Come for me, but I will die on this hill. We've DoorDashed from King Burrito several times now and each time, it hits the spot! Their burritos are also fully loaded and gigantic so will last me two meals. Saw so much good stuff on social media I made a point to go there. 2 employees sitting in the cold restaurant, NO CUSTOMERS THE ENTIRE TIME I WAS THERE. Person who took my order didn't know what was in the burrito when I asked. he had to look at the menu. I ordered carne asada special that came with rice beans and a soda. He asked me if I wanted anything to drink with my order. DAH! it came with a soda. There was a small salsa bar that was there but had ZERO in it. They put soda bottles there to distract from there being nothing in the salsa bar. Got home and ate the burrit. HORRIBLE. So chewy I had to chew the carne for the flavor then spit it out. I spit out 90% of the burrito. TOTAL WASTE OF MY MONEY. I FEEL LIKE I OPENED MY WALLET AND JUST THREW $20 IN THE TRASH. Don't expect this place to be open very long. Horrible horrible experience. I came in today and specifically ordered a "carnitas burrito with pico, beans, and cheese," however when I got home and took a huge bite, I immediately noticed that it was "carne asada" instead. No problem, I called in and explained the mix up without any kind of attitude, the cook informed me that he would fix it. When I got there, it was a whole different story. The cook basically called me a liar and did not want to correct his mistake now. The cashier lady then began to give me attitude and they were both extremely rude about it. This was my second visit here to this place and they don't disappoint. The food is very good but nothing special. I ordered the 2 cheese enchilada plate, 3 roll tacos with everything and a carne asada quesadilla. The enchiladas had the perfect amount of cheese, the roll tacos were freshly rolled and deep fried and the carne in the quesadilla was pretty juicy. It's attached to a Chevron gas station and the space is pretty small but not tiny; a few booths and some tables in the middle section. A sweet older lady was the cashier and she barely spoke English but an "A" for effort for trying, seriously, it was the cutest. She also made sure all my order was correct before handing it over to me. Reminds me of the grandma who fed you while you over at her house. Overall, I had a good experience and I might be back to try other special plates offered. read more

It's a mom and pop shop so I'd love to give it 5 stars... but I can't. I had some inedible chips and some crunchy rice. I think they left a few items under the heat lamp a bit too long. The taocs, enchiladas, salsa, and service were good. It's attached to a Chevron gas station but it has a separate entrance and upon entry feels very disconnected to the gas station/convenience store. I ordered the combo plate with a beef taco, cheese enchilada, and rice & beans. The taco was 3/4 lettuce, 1/8 cheese and 1/8 beef. It was light and refreshing with all that lettuce but not very filling. The cheese enchilada was my favorite part. The tortilla was warm and pliable, filled with melted cheese, and topped with enchilada sauce. The salsa was tasty but they were very shiesty with it. They had 2 tiny salsa cups by the salsa bar and when I asked for more she glarred at me asked if I ordered in. Then dropped 3 more tiny cups on the counter. It became obvious they were guarding salsa. It was the tiny cups 0.5 oz ramicans not the 1.5 oz cups. I guess next time I'll have to ladle salsa directly onto my plate to get enough. /shrug read more

Don't let the fact that this place is attached to a gas station deter you. I've lived here for 10 years and only just started coming here last year, and I feel like we've been missing out on a lot by not coming here. King Burrito has become my absolute favorite go-to for a bean and cheese burrito. They make mini ones which are the PERFECT ratio of beans versus cheese. I usually order two, eat one then and save one for a little later we've had other things on the menu, but I always go back to the mini bean and cheese! Keep in mind that if you only order minis, they prefer for you to have cash. The lady behind the counter is the sweetest. The chef is pretty quick, especially compared to other local shops. They need to change the name to King of Small Burritos my dad had the worlds smallest carne asada burrito so much tortilla so little fillings. There was so little meat in all the stuff we got I get it meats pricey but dang give me some at least. This taste like Mexican food I got in Virginia plain, poor quality, and a waste of money. Nothing had flavor I didn't even finish my chicken taco the shredded chicken had no flavor and was dry. They kept asking my dad if he was going to tip on several occasions. This place reminds me of why I miss living in North Park the San Diego Mexican food scene down there is untouchable. I probably should round down to 3 stars but I'm feeling generous today and I'm also willing to give them the benefit of the doubt here. I stopped in earlier today to check out this Mexican joint inside the Chevron gas station. I'm always fascinated by this fusion of concepts and my interest is always piqued when trying to find how such a partnership works. There's surprisingly a decent amout of seating inside with enough tables to accommodate a group of 8 with ease. Parking will be an issue because of the shared space so be prepared to walk a little and make sure to be on alert when walking through the parking lot and gas station. King Burrito is not open 24 hours but they are open for most of the day. What I like about King Burrito is their Carnitas Burrito. For $4.40, you can hook yourself up with some pork heaven. The magical meat is cooked well and paired with some equally magical guacamole and pico de gallo. You can ask for your carnitas to be cooked well done so that you can enjoy those little crispies. So you're probably wondering why I almost docked a star. Well, during my burrito extravaganza I bit into not one, not two, but three bones. It was quite the predicament really. On the one side, I was loving the flavor of the burrito and the salsa verde and the pickled carrots. But on the flip side, I was becoming more and more fearful of biting into another bone. Been trying other menu items too and all are pretty tasty; Chile relleno (plenty of cheese), chorizo (like Mom used to make), beef tacos (yum!). Horchata is always on point never watery. You can tell the owners take care of their lil taco shop, very clean and cool paintings to look at :) Better than their neighbors "los tacos" which tends to be too "Americanized" and commercialized. read more
