The inside is very fun; very colorful with a fun mural of the nice torta crab guy. Don't be intimidated by the Spanish menus, it's time to practice your Espanol and if you need help, the friendly staff lives up to its name. The food itself is delicious and generous for a great value. But here's the thing - the salsas are the real stand outs. The salsa bar lets you mix and match: I love the most spicy and the least spicy kinds. The different salsas you use on your torta changes the complexity and flavor profile and they're all good. I can see myself bringing my whole family. My mother-in-law would love the menudo, my brother would love the birria, and my little nephew would enjoy the quesadilla. This place is a hidden gem. It's next door to the pharmacy I go to. It caught my eye because I seen the color pop up and then promoting tortas. I decided to come in and get agua fresca but was sold and bought a carne asada torta. Jose was very helpful and gave his business card with a menu for the feature. Jose and his staff were welcoming and friendly. The menu, boy it's like Disneyland! All the best Mexican dishes you can think of they have. They also have fruit too. By far the best torta I ever had and was traditional and huge! Now in days you don't get authentic torta but this place is the real thing. Their salsa bar has an assortment of condiments for your food. Inside there's plenty of seating, good music and the best that stood out, is that is clean. I saw some food posts of friends, and I was like what is that and where is that, and that's how I found this place. No disappointment. The birria tacos were literally the best I've ever had, not dry or old tasting. Next time I will try a birria torta. And add the fresh orange juice! Really wanted a Torta, therefore I purchased a Torta Cubana. The Mexican take on a Cuban Sandwich (but nowhere close to an original) is still a hearty, solid sandwich. Didn't expect the Torta to be as large as it was, but I loved the detail in the salchica, jamon, Milanesa, and the queso panela. It also has mayo, avocado, tomato, beans, and lettuce. Nicely toasted and the breaded ham is a good texture to the sandwich. Come and try one and let me know what you think. read more

Horrible customer service. Never had a problem before but the way a small issue was handled was ridiculous and that's what this review is solely based on. Bad management. I wasn't being rude nor demanding, I politely asked IF a reasonable request could be made. This business serves coffee in the white foam cups which are not suitable for hot drinks, when hot liquids are poured into them these cups release a disgusting chemical like taste. Coffee is my choice of drink , it's been a few times, where I get one of their meals with a coffee and I end up not drinking it. An easy solution I thought was bringing my own coffee mug, I even told the cashier to charge me extra like 2 large coffees ... the manager who was having a conversation on the phone, asked what was wrong, because I took a minute or two explaining the reasoning behind my request to the cashier. After learning the situation , he just lazily said they couldn't pour coffee directly into my coffee mug which I would understand had he bothered to explain the reason -bad management. When I left I noticed my food was wrapped in aluminum foil rather than being packed in the to-go styrofoam container it always comes in. Well, when I got home I realized the lid for the broth was a little open and it spilled out inside the bag. This won't happen unless management allows it. Like this was some sort of food vendetta? I wasn't going to eat it anyway, wouldn't be surprised to know they spit in it. I just didn't want to be worse and cancel causing a scene so I just took the food and left. Didn't even bother bringing inside my home just threw it in the trash bin. My order was less than 15 dollars it won't hurt them but it's sad to know these are the low customer service standards they use to treat their paying customers. The cashier was incredibly upset because I wouldn't take the order number thing for the table, I'm pretty sure I can remember "97", I also had the receipt and was sitting 2 steps away from the register... But she made it her mission in life to tell a few other employees about it and walk over to where I was sitting to aggressively place it there. This wouldn't happen unless management allows it. I don't even blame the cashier, I mean she didn't want to help from the start, before making the request she had a horrible demeanor. she looked aggravated and fed up with life or her job, May be both? Either way, it sure reflected in her unnecessary rude attitude. May be breakfast spots have a different license to pour refills directly into customers coffee mugs? I'm still baffled about the coffee thing. Stop being cheap and get coffee resistant cups like other restaurants. Something so small. The worst thing is that their coffee isn't even "good" guess the joke is on me. Again this review is solely for their horrid management. read more

Decent Mexican experience based on a couple menu items. After a night of drinking we craved a late night snack and this was one of the few places still open around us. My review is not based on Tortas or Bionicos since a sandwich would have been too much and the Bionicos too cold for night time so definitely a reason to come back for us. Birria Crunchy Tacos: Beef birria was very good, enjoyed the taste. It was not overcooked to oblivion and just a texture like other places, it still tasted like meat and I liked how the onions and cilantro were in it's own layer. Critique on this was the shell was not crunchy. Asada Sope. The Sope and Asada were pretty greasy, we used a napkin to try to soak up some of the oil. Skin layers a bit too thick on the Sope but the bean ratio was nice, Asada had good flavor. Taco Al Gobernador: Chopped up shrimp with cheese and sauteed onion. It was OK, same problem with the tortilla not being crunchy. It was good but the one at Mariscos el Goveranaor on La Palma in Anaheim is much better. read more

Coming here extremely hungry after practice with my housemates, wanted to definitely try their Tortas and Birria Tacos, especially hearing how good they were. For their Torta, I specifically got their Milanesa as I had never gotten to try that style of cooking before. Overall, I thought this was a solid 8/10. What I really loved was the general makeup of their sandwich and their ingredients. The bread was delicious, their veggies tasted fresh, and the mayo and avocada helped add a nice layer to the sandwich. For me though, which definitely is more of a preference, was that I felt their Milanesa cut was super thin. Like thin to the point where when I would take a bite of the sandwich, I would not be able to taste the meat as it was overshadowed by all the other flavors. This made me stuck between a 4 or 5 stars for a while but will give a 5 for now but definitely would want to try it again with a different meat to make sure to see if I truly like this or not but ultimately not too bad. For their Birria, I actually really liked it. 9/10. Whenever I had gone out for birria tacos, I had never been asked about whether or not I wanted beef or goat, I had only gotten beef. I know that goat was the traditional style of cooking, but never had been given the option so I new I had to take it. For me, it goat was pretty well cooked (albiet a bit gamey but nothing that overpowered me) and did not taste try compared to other birrias that I have had, that feel you are eating a rough conglomeration. The consomme they also provide too was also top notch for me and was one of the tastier ones I have had with my birria tacos. Would definitely come and get this place again. read more

Odd name for a restaurant but the food is great. It's made to order so everything you get is fresh and optimized. All of their tacos are at least twice the size as normal street tacos so the price is comparable to paying for 2 of them. Got the Birria combo tacos, the "red tacos" that are super trendy right now. Tender meat, good amount of onion and cilantro. Wish the tortilla was slightly more crispy. The shrimp taco was huge, shrimp was well cooked and chopped up so you get a little in every bite. Cheese and seafood is normally a no-no mix but it works very well in this taco. The asada sope was a bit hard to eat since the ingredients were stacked high and a lot falls off every bite you take. Bean stuffed masa was amazing and well cooked. Would repeat, great Mexican place. read more

Love the food and service here. Highly recommend the birria tacos and tacos gobernador. Either the beef or goat birria is delicious but I prefer the goat. Always tender and juicy. The birria tacos are crispy on the outside. If you get deliveryor take-out, they lose their crispiness as they will get steamed and soften up in the car (it's still delicious though), so it's ideal to eat them at the restaurant right away. I enjoy it with the hot consomé. The tacos gobernador have lots of flavorful shrimp and come with grilled onions and peppers. Just 2 of these extra large tacos are filling. I also love the carnitas tortas. Menudo is available on Saturday and Sunday. It's pricey but is a very big bowl. Lots of tripe. read more
