Ran into this place during lunch while attending a training down the street. There are a lot of food options around. I'd probably go elsewhere if I had the chance to do it all over again. I had the Mole Chicken which came with rice and beans. It wasn't as satisfying as I'd hoped, but it wasn't horrible either. At least the mole wasn't too sweet. Deciding to go basic, I went with carne which included jalapenos, lettuce, tomato, salsa, onions, and guacamole (hold the mayo). My b/f ordered a carnitas combo plate which included rice, beans, and a few tortillas (corn or flour). I thought the torta was huge in comparison to others I have tried in the past. It was also so much better than any other torta I've ever eaten. The bread was not soggy and the jalapenos added a nice spiciness to almost every bite. Their carnitas was also really good. No alcoholic beverages, though they have pictures of them on the wall to look at. Small and intimate inside, there is an option for some outdoor seating in the open alley. They take cash and card. I was astonished by the quality of TM's Carne Asada torta. Was it that I was so hAnGry after the GA vs. OK Rose Bowl on Jan 1, 2018? No sir or ma'am or person. A good torta has crispy, thin bread, never tough even at the corners, and has to break cleanly with every bite. The inside has to be evenly distributed...no naked corners you boorish oaf! Good ratio of meat to everything else. If sliced, has to look good, with nice layering that makes one want to stare before consuming. And should be moist throughout, never dry. Can be messy, but not like you stuck your face in a torta trough. Toras Mexico was all of these things, and it cost less than 4% of what I paid for the Rose Bowl ticket. read more

Their breakfast burrito has everything an American breakfast burrito has plus everything we put in ours: beans, salchicha, rice. I was looking for a good torta the other day and found this spot on Yelp. I did an online takeout order and they were unable to get me the sopes I ordered so they gave me tacos instead. Even though the name says tortas, this place serves a variety of authentic Mexican cuisine dishes. They have everything from from quesadillas to burritos to tamales and it all looks and smells good. The recipes comes from a town in southern Mexico called San Juan Yucuita. Tortas caters and is really popular with the locals in Pasadena. The combo plates are large and definitely filling and the prices are just right. I ordered the Cubano torta (which was delicious) but found myself salivating at somebody else's tortilla soup. Tortas Mexico is in a very small location with about five tables inside to dine at. You order your food at the counter and the line cuts right through the dining area which can be a little annoying. The chicken salad wasn't too good. The lettuce looked like it was processed and the chicken lacked flavor. The portion size wasn't very big and it didn't come with enough dressing.
