I had a great experience, hence all the negative reviews. I'm glad I came for happy hour, because I spent less than 25 bucks for a large nachos and 2 margaritas! You also get free chips and salsa. My server was very friendly and efficient and checked on me often. Everyone just seemed very happy which contributed to my overall great experience. The nachos are just pretty basic, as they could have had more flavor but nothing to complain about for the price. I'll definitely be back to try more on their menu! read more

After a long drive decided to try TF as it's been a few years. Sat at the bar which wasn't too busy and Tina was bartending. She was attentive but not too much so and the food was excellent. The chips were a bit thicker than I like but they were warm and crunchy. The salsa was fresh and delicious and she gave us crushed jalapeño to add for heat. The tamale was really good and huge! The enchiladas came with red sauce instead of the green verde we asked for but she brought a side of it. Music in the bar was nice and not too loud or soft. Will definitely go back soon! read more

Fiancé ordered a vegetarian burrito and was served one with meat in it. When she told the server she said "I must of grabbed the wrong one" and didn't offer any compensation for the fact a vegetarian ate meat unknowingly. Get the bill and they still charged us for it... Went here for the first time after living in merrimack for 28 years, and was definitely disappointed. The best thing was the chips and queso. Other than that the food and drinks were mediocre. The chicken wings were so small and barely had any meat on them. The tacos didn't have much flavor to them. The rice was pretty bland. The service was weird and awkward. Hubby and I looking for a local establishment to enjoy some Mexican. We arrived at opening but still needed to wait a few minutes for the doos to be unlocked. We started of with the Caddy margaritas. Seriously amazing margaritas! WTried some queso dip with chips, chips were great, queso was not good, cheese wiz a spoon full of salsa tossed in. I'll never order that again. Moved on to the corn ribs, and they were amazing. I should have ordered 2 orders of the corn ribs, and avoided the queso.We split a build your own burrito, which was ok, a bit on the boring side. Nothing special about either. Total was 57.15 for meal. I recommend the margaritas and the corn ribs, go elsewhere for burritos and queso. read more

We went here for Valentines early dinner. First, the wait staff horrible. The wait was long. I got the wrong Margarita that took 20 minutes to get. I waited another 15 for the next one We waiting 25 more minutes for our meal, they brought me fajitas but I'd ordered chicken Quesadillas . I waited while my husband ate his meal. They brought me a fajita quesadilla ( not what I ordered) again. But worse, it seemed someone had dumped greasy tough meat, a few fried onions and some unknown items inside the quesadilla, basically not filled.. It was horrible. They took well over 45-min to bring our meal to the table after ordering. The waitress was barely to be seen and it wasn't busy or during a peak time. We complained about how long it took after getting the bill and she said they have one guy in the kitchen. It doesn't seem responsible of the management or owner to do something more and not punish paying customers with long wait times, poor service and who knows what else. Great Americanized mexican food! I wouldn't say it's authentic or anything but it's certainly delicious! We sat in the bar on a Friday night around 630 and was surprised they already had some dance music going. It was quite loud in there but to be expected at the bar. The restaurant side was too packed for us to get a table, we barely found a parking spot so clearly everyone loves this place! They also have good deals during the week like taco Tuesday and wing Wednesday. I got the chicken fajita salad and it was amazing. We also got an enchilada and that was also delish! The picture is of the Chicken Enchiladas - it was cubes of chicken wrapped in a soggy wet shell covered in sour cream (which I asked them NOT to put on my meal). I took one bite and was not able to keep it down. Saturday afternoon, there was 1 server working, Angie, super cute with such good energy and the sweetest personality, she was PHENOMENAL. Our food was top notch and I'm a bit of a Mexican food snob! My margarita was perfection. The avocado fries were the best I've ever had, light and crispy, and the presentation was delightful, so so good. My veggie fajitas were absolutely the best I've ever had, a sizzling great mix of actually recognizable veggies! Broccoli, carrots, 2 kinds of onions, different peppers... all perfectly cooked but not over cooked or mushy/soupy but with great caramelization, not just heated up frozen crap. Hub had the taco salad, some places do a pretty crappy/generic taco salad but this was just more-authentic. So, excellent service + really really good, delicious cocktails, appetizers and entrees along with a cute quaint decor inside what must have been someone's home at one time... 10/10 will definitely be back! read more

Stopped in at 7:45 last night after attending the Anheiser Bush Xmas lights with friends. We searched yelp and decided that Tortilla Flats was close and some drink would be great, nope There were 6 of us and the place wasn't very busy. Staff scrambled to figure where to seat us. Hostess was taking us into one area when a waitress told her "no seat them in my section" Took a bit to have anyone come over to the table but they finally drop 1 small batch of chips and Salsa off for 6 people then disappeared. There was a table of 5 seated next to us and they were having an issue getting all their orders brought out at once. When are finally took our drink orders we also asked for another batch of chips and salsa. After waiting another 10 minutes there were still no drinks or chips to be seen. One of our party went over to the server and asked if our drink orders were put in because we were waiting for over 10 minutes. The server very rudely pointed to a table and said, "No, do you see that big table over there? I have to take care of them" At that point we walked out and drove up to KCs rib shack where we dropped $200 on food and drinks instead and got great service. After the nasty treatment at Tortilla Flats, I would never recommend this place to anyone. How do they stay in business? Flats is great. All the food is freshly prepared, well seasoned, and arrives piping hot from an attentive staff armed with oven mits. I've sat in the restaurant many times but I overwhelmingly choose to sit in the bar...sorry, the cantina. All the bartenders are friendly and are great at providing quick service despite how busy it gets. They remember their client's first names and their usual orders, and to first timers they are equally welcoming and inviting. The blonde bartender is especially sharp. Great attention to detail and great interaction with the customers. Try the nachos. Or the Fajitas. Enjoy! read more

Stopped in for the first time tonight, sat in the bar. I have to say I am very unimpressed. The chips and salsa offered are bagged chips and pace picante sauce. The food was very subpar - canned refried beans, probably Rice-A-Roni for the rice. I had a burrito it was disgusting and filled with cold beans. Very lacking in flavor. Everything my husband and I ate looked like it had been bought at Costco and reheated. I can most certainly say I won't be back. The only thing good about this place was their tacos. We would be willing to give it a second chance if we can go back sometime and sit at the bar without our kids. Service was "meh". Drinks were average. We are also not fans of the old rustic look if it means that the chairs are extremely uncomfortable and you can barley scoot yourself in to get closer to the table. I also have an 8 month old and when I took her into the bathroom to change her the bathroom was dirty enough to make me uncomfortable even though I brought my own table liners. This is a decent place for Mexican food and drinks (one of the few watering holes in town). The place is dimly lit and there is the bar area to the right and the main dining area to the left. When I'm here, it feels like I'm dining at a cozy lodge. The service is friendly and efficient. The complementary chips and salsa are good here. The Margaritas here are strong. My favorite dinner is the Crabmeat Enchiladas (2 of them) served with rice and refried beans. For dessert, I like the Banana Chonga (banana and chocolate rolled in a deep fried tortilla and served with whipped cream) which is very sweet, but it goes well with my hot coffee. read more

Ok. I admit it. I went to the tortilla flat when I first moved here because I was told it was haunted. I love ghost stories and I wanted to visit a "haunt" of new england. Sadly, I didn't find the ghosts, nor really any ghost stories (the staff didn't have any, but they did tell me they had a ghost hunters (not the tv show) in the night before. What I did find was pretty good Mexican inspired food. I very much enjoy their queso and chicken chimis. The only complain I had was the spiciness was left out... but then again this is New England, and can understand why. I love the ambiance of the place, the old house turned into restaurant is a real treat. This Christmas, they had the cutest moose display made out of birch on the front lawn. Worth a trip. Maybe you can have the "ghost" experience I so want to have. read more

Mexican food in New Hampshire is always a dicey proposition when you are first timing it. I'd been by a few of these locations but never tried them. The inside was small and tables compact but we got in for a quick, uncrowded lunch. It was clean and the staff was friendly. The food itself was pretty overpriced for the quality, which honestly wasn't very good. Bland salsa, stale chips, the burrito I had was edible, but largely flavorless and a bit undercooked. The veggie fajitas were the better choice, but not overly good either. I don't like playing guessing games with my Mexican, and I'm sure it does good with locals, but I'm happy to not go back. read more

The food is what you should expect for an American style Mexican restaurant but they have the BEST margaritas in the area. Kayla was our waitress in the bar and was exemplary to our needs; I was catching up with a friend and she was extremely accommodating to us catching up and chatting and popped by at the perfect time. I have been coming here for years with fantastic service. I can't believe how poorly we were treated tonight. We tried to order one more drink as our dinner arrived just before closing at 9 (mind you we had been at the restaurant at 8p), and we were told that we and 3 other tables could not get another drink by our waitress. As this was happening, the manager unplugged the tvs and turned off the bar's string lights. However, the bartender continued to make drinks until 9:30p. When we asked the bartender if we could order a drink since we were seated in the bar area she stated that she could only continue to serve her own patrons directly at the bar. When asked the "manager" stated that when they say closed at 9pm, there is absolutely no more orders to go in and that she had never heard of announcing last call. 20 people still in the bar and 15 still getting served but the ones at the tables in the lounge got handed their bills. I'm still appalled at how the "manager" spoke to us, completely passed the buck. We're done. read more

The food is decent, a bit expensive if you go for dinner. They have lunch specials that are reasonably priced. Service is mediocre but I know that they are desperate for help, as I can't remember the last time a "Now Hiring" sign wasn't up. The restaurant is very spread out with a bunch of completely different rooms, seems it was built into a house. It's very strange in my opinion as you do not hear the noise of the entire restaurant and it is very difficult to have a private conversation in your little room. We passed this establishment coming home from my in laws. My wife wanted to try it. We went in and were seated tight away. The hostess was wonderful as she gave us the menus. Waitress appeared 5 minutes later. We asked for water. She shows up 10 min. later. Takes our order and says she forgot to give us silverware. Shows up 20 min. later with app. food and still forgot utensils. We asked for more water. She shows 15 min. later and brings utensils but no water. We get our meal and remind her of water. 15 min. later we get water. We are but needed more water. 25 min later we finish and wait for dessert since we weren't asked. 20 min. later she brings our bill and we request more water and dessert. She leaves. The next table over looks for waitress so the girl goes off on her own to fetch her own salsa. Both tables are out of water. 30 min. later she showed up with dessert and bill. We asked for water ( never hot our refills ) when she left us again. We arrived at approx. 5:30 pm and left at 7:00 pm. I get better service at some little places than I got here.
