I was quoted a fair price that was consistent with my other 2 estimates. The estimate included hardwood floors in my family room, on my steps, and in the upstairs hallway. Also, they would put on baseboard and shoe molding, sand and seal the floors, and then apply 2 coats of oil based polyurethane. I was away on vacation when the men came to do the work. When I came home (late Saturday evening) I was appalled at the sloppy job that was done. I immediately called Dan and left him a text message. He came out Monday morning. He seemed pretty upset about the work that was done. He said he would come back and fix everything. The following problems needed to be fix: 1. the baseboard molding: none of the corners touched, some of the baseboard was cut to short and there was a broken piece. 2. The polyurethane coating: it was clumpy in some areas 3. The transition pieces: a number of them were cracked and they never put a transition piece between the hallway and my bathroom 4. Chips and gaps: a number of the floor boards were chipped and there were major gaps between some of the boards 5. The steps: These were a disaster. There were gaps between the steps and risers, many of the wood pieces were cut to short. They used a non matching orange wood putty to fill in mistakes and also used white caulk (which was not approved for use on wood floors). Dan and his son came out for 2 days to try and fix it. They fixed most of the molding, however one piece they cut was cracked in half and we had to glue it back together and the molding inside the upstairs closet still does not look right. They replaced 2 transition pieces and installed a transition piece between the bathroom and hallway. They fixed some of the gaps on the floors, but used a darker wood putty that did not match the color of my floor. The steps still had gaps and looked awful. My husband and I had to spend two days fixing the steps, putting putty in the gaps, staining the putty to match the floors, then applying two coats of oil based polyurethane on the steps and entire upstairs hallway. After our hard work they look ok, but are not perfect. The entire process was extremely stressful and very time consuming for my husband and myself. It cost us time, money, and a great deal of personal stress. All of this could have been avoided if we went with another company I would never recommend Danzco and suggest that you choose another company.

The third day they seemed to just not care anymore because they were 3 hours late, made more of a mess, didn't clean it up, and left the house without telling me. I still don't know if they are to come back. Overall, the finished product was OK but I've seen better. This is a fine example of how small businesses fail. From beginning to end, the customer should experience complete satisfaction in the work they paid for. This includes the professionalism of the workers, which is part of the finished product. I found that part lacking.

I wanted everything to be sustainable and non toxic, particularly with the engineered hardwoods, which are manufactured and I wanted them thick enough for refinishing down the road. Eddie did a lot of searching for us and really found the best option out there for us and they looked gorgeous and exactly what we wanted. He and the owner even called me about the installation for the basement floors and said they would have to use tiny drops of glue at the joints but they had found a non toxic glue to use and sent me the material safety data sheet. The price was more than reasonable, especially considering they had to pull out about an acre of wall to wall carpeting! The work was done very well and I know if I have any issues, they will correct them. Great company!

P.S. In June 2023 I hired D B Genesis to reinstall the hardwood floors and some of the steps. They…read moredid a neat and professional job. There were no gaps between the boards evident. Subsequently I filed a claim with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission against its Guaranty Fund. The fund was set up to compensate homeowners who hire licensed contractors who either fail to complete a job or do it in an "unworkmanlike" manner. After a very long drawn out process, the MHIC opined that the multitude of gaps "were not significant enough to render the installation unworkmanlike." Prefinished hardwood flooring is an interlocking tongue-and-groove system and it is certainly not good workmanship to install the boards with clearly visible separations. This contractor left more than 50 open joints between the boards, significant gaps between boards and stair rails and installed steps with stair noses that were not level and that creaked shortly after installation. This was certainly an unworkmanlike installation. (I guess that tells you what a license from the MHIC is worth.) What matters, however, is not my opinion or the MHIC's but whether you would be pleased if this contractor did such fine work in your home. This contractor has cost me time, money and a lot of aggravation with his threats of legal action, lies and refusal to accept responsibility. He continues to lie about conditions in my home alleging that I do not operate my HVAC leading to wildly fluctuating temperatures and humidity levels, causing the multitude of gaps. Don't be fooled. He is just lying to shift blame for the shoddy work of his subcontractor to me, the homeowner. BTW he's also lying about offering to replace the flooring at cost. P.P.S. As I have stated before the "official unbiased inspection report" Eric is referring to falsely stated there were no separations visible in the floor either from a stand up position or under 10x magnification and thus, concludes there were no installation problems. So I guess those are all imaginary gaps Eric's subcontractor filled in with wood putty. The MHIC a scam?? I would not put it that way but certainly they did not have much sympathy for me as a homeowner harmed by a licensed contractor. They seemed much more concerned about protecting the Guaranty fund from claims, even legitimate ones. Sometimes the system does not deliver justice. In any case, a license from the MHIC is clearly not a guarantee against shoddy workmanship.

STAY AWAY!…read more I made a terrible and horrible mistake of employing the services of a handyman named Carlos who told me he was the owner of Faith-Based Handyman Services, to install some vanity tops, lights, etc. I chose the company because of the ratings and the name Faith-Based. I would rate it less than one star if I could. I have given it a lot of thought before rating Mr. Carlos as the representative of Faith-Based Handyman Services. I have always looked for goodness in a person and I do my best to be fair with everyone. My conscience would not allow me to keep silent and not share my experience with prospective customers regarding Mr. Carlos of Faith-Based Handyman Services. Mr. Carlos is an incompetent, arrogant handyman with a nasty attitude and has a serious integrity issue. He is the dumbest handyman I have ever dealt with--the dumbest of the dumb. He lacks very basic plumbing and handyman knowledge and has caused significant water damage to my home due to his incompetence. He attempted to fix three water leaks he caused to my home four times and has admitted to me that he did not know what else to do to fix the leaks. He lacks candor. He damaged the ring that connected the piping together and the knob in my shower stalls and attempted to conceal it until I confronted him, which he admitted it was caused by his wrench. His level of incompetence is absolutely stunning. He has no equal. You cannot and will not find a dumber handyman. The lighting system does not work properly, which is similar to what he did with the connection of the water lines, which are still leaking. He has left a bucket underneath the faucet, which has been collecting water ever since. I have contacted him on various occasions to inform him of the substandard job he had done and each time he had an excuse for not coming. He either said he was in class; his truck overheated; he had a scheduling conflict and finally he stopped responding to my texts and emails while he kept my money. I kept plenty of photographic and written evidence of the damages he has caused to my home for appropriate action. I would not hire him under any circumstance. Mr. Carlos is a sorry example of a handyman and is a bad example to the honest, knowledgeable and hard working handymen that perform quality work for their customers. Do not waste your money and your time. If you care about honesty, quality work and your property DO NOT HIRE him under any circumstance--STAY AWAY.

I really wanted to like this company. The communication has been terrible from day 1. The supervisor would tell us one thing and the owner would tell us another. No one was on the same page. After the work was completed, I have contacted the owner and supervisor more than 20x to get some things fixed, like cracking walls from where they did drywall too close to my vent system (so now it makes a loud boom sound every time it turns on) and the closet doors being put on the wrong way so we struggle to get them open. When we were designing our bathroom the reps told us we couldn't get an itemized bill, so we could get something in our budget or pick more affordable parts. They also told us that they could give us a discount but only if we signed right then. Expect high pressure sales tactics. If you try and cancel your project after you sign, you're responsible for 75% of the cost NO MATTER WHAT. If that's not a predatory contract I don't know what is. The bath authority ended up subcontracting out our project and after months of trying to get our bathroom installed, the subcontractor arrived not knowing the scope of the work. Parts were missing, they broke our toilet, tried to double charge us for our deposit, and left a mess on our lawn. They replaced our glorious porcelain throne with a short kindergarten-sized toilet and tried to force us to sign the work complete doc. We had to call SO MANY times to ask them to fix their mistakes and it took another 3 months of being dodged and ghosted to get our toilet replaced and missing pieces of our original order installed.
