If I reviewed Seattle's location, I definitely had to review my home location. After hitting Grand Reserve, this makes Total Wine an even better location to go to. Why? 1. Once you hit Grand Reserve ($2500 in a year), you get access to special events where you can purchase rare bottles of alcohol. 2. You get free tickets to their alcohol tasting classes, which also has free food in addition to the alcohol. 3. You also get smaller perks, such as free delivery, etc. However, even if not hitting Grand Reserve, Total Wine has the cheapest selection of alcohol that I have seen. Specs might have a couple bottles cheaper than here, but overall, nothing really tops Total. In addition, they have a huge selection of THC drinks, and the prices are cheap and reasonable as well. I'm from California and a grand reserve member at Total Wines. Came to Texas with my sister to visit and she wanted to purchase some alcohol as gifts to give to her friends. I recommended to go "Total Wines". Now I'm very disappointed with this store in particular. Accompanying my sister to buy alcohol, while standing in line to pay with her, the cash register "Julia" asked to check both of our ID's. Why does she need to check 2 of our IDs'? I understand to check the purchaser which is my sister, but why me too? There's a customer of 3 that was in front of us and she didn't ask for 3 only the purchaser. I asked her... is this your normal procedure and did she check the people in front of us? She said yes, she will check what is necessary. What does that mean to check if necessary? Agreed for purchasers.. However, knowing the fact she didn't with the consumers that purchased before us. That means the consumer in front that left had to provide 3 IDs, and I didn't hear that she asked for 3 IDs. She literally lied... the only reason I could think of is that she did this was because she's racist and we are CHINESE. Never ever had I encountered this incident before. Again, I'm a grand reserve. Many of my friends and my teenager son accompanied me to multiple Total Wines locations and never once been asked to check ID's except (me) the purchaser. If this isn't racism I don't know what else it is! Definitely not a protocol to check everyone's ID(s) if they are not buying. FYI: this happened on May 14, 2022 @ 5:27 pm. For the CA transplants, this is the best equivalent to BevMo. The selection here is awesome. There's a lot of variety here. Every time I visit, they have a good amount of cashiers, so I don't have to wait too long. The staff here is always willing to help me out.
