Went into the store before it closed last night. Looking for a Black Label bottle, went into the whiskey area and an employee saw me and ignored me, didn't want to help me. Too worried to align the bottles so he could leave. Finally someone asked if I needed help, told them I was looking for a bottle and a few other options. He left, a few minutes later I asked Karl to call him over so he could help me. He rolled his eyes, and said no he would help me. I said no thank you, he refused, so I asked for his manager and he told me no that he wasn't going to get his manager Finally a manager came over, Karl refused to leave..I told him I didn't feel comfortable or wanted to go back and forth with him. Went to this location and experienced racism at its finest. It was late - they were literally about to close but we knew exactly what we needed so we knew we would be in and out. Grabbed our bottles and were at the register in five minutes. The lady asks for all our IDs although I was the only one that was paying (we are all over 25!). She claimed it was store policy to card everyone because they are in the store. She called for the manager to give her an exception. He decides to let my friend stand outside and wait while I pay. This is the first ridiculous thing! My third friend had to run and get one thing so I thought I would stand and watch the same cashier check out the group behind us - simply to make sure this "store policy" exists. The group (3 people) behind us - none of them black - weren't asked for their I.D. The woman in the group actually had here's out and ready and the cashier never even glanced at it. And she didn't ask the two men with her for theirs. One of the men in that party "appeared" to be under 30 years old so shouldn't you have asked all of them for I.D? Of course, I call that same manager over. Excuse me sir, can you let me know why that cashier felt the need to card all three of us but didn't give two thoughts to the three party group behind us. He goes on about how she should have and it will be her job if she doesn't follow procedure. I 100% asked him to stop; like kill the dramatics. You made an entire effort to hassle us but with a different race party you look the other way?!? One of the two managers even went as far as to say "all three of y'all look soo young; maybe she thought y'all weren't 21" Let me tell you what I don't need is flattery. I need fairness and I think it is ridiculous that the two of y'all can stand here joking as if this isn't a clear example of racism. He acted like it was no big deal. Outstanding selection and plenty of knowledgeable staff around to help you find just what you want. We were very impressed with the depth and breadth of the offerings here at Total Wine. They have hundreds of beers from all over the world -- and the signs underneath describe styles, flavors, and countries of origin. As impressive as the ber election is, the wine and hard liquor selection is as expansive, and as well-organised. The humidor area is sealed off so we don't have to smell the cigar smoke. As I was leaving decided to grab an empty box as there were several hundred on the shelves. Clerk asked me why I needed a box and indicated the boxes were for some other customers. Total Wine also has plenty of wines and alcohols to choose from as well as drinking accessories, cups, glasses, etc. The store is huge, it's like a warehouse turned retail store, very clean. They will probably have something mainstream for the average person. Employee knowledge will vary from location to location. If you're a seasoned alcoholic then you're better off finding a local wine/beer store you can trust. The owner/employees will(should) be very knowledgeable and they will have a higher quality selection of alcohol from more regions. I'm an impulsive drinker and always find myself wanting to get something to drink at the last minute. What I love is that the inventory can be found online so I went in having an idea of what I wanted. I arrived 20 minutes before the store closed and found the beer I wanted to try, Paulaner, a German beer, then spent the rest of my time browsing. They have a variety of global beers to choose from. the selection can be overwhelming but each beer includes a small description and sometimes a beer score/rating to help you decide. I ended up building my own 6-pack in addition to the Paulaner Hefe-Weizen. Building your own 6-pack is great if you've never tried a beer and don't want to commit to a full 6-pack of a single beer. read more

I came inside of the store of the other day and I tried to make purchase and I couldn't make purchase. They asked for me and my cousin ID which we did show. The cashier asked who he is and how we related and she couldn't sell it to me. She called the supervisor or (manager) over and she asked how we are related, she couldn't sell the product. I politely told them we from out of town and its okay. We are not going spend our money here. There was no signs on the door says you have to 21 and up to enter and even the people at the door stopped and talked to us. Not mentioned it was a infant in the store also when we were there. Where have you been all my life Total Wine & More????? I prefer the more part in your title, but hey who is complaining? On my trip around the Metroplex one Saturday my mom told me to stop in this store. At first I was thinking, not another dang wine store. I walked it and it is nothing like I have ever seen. First the place is very organized and very clean. This is like the Walmart of liquor stores minus the food. Since I am trying to get my beer taste buds up I loved their imported beers section. There was a lot to choose from and a lot of stuff I have never seen in the regular stores. Their cider selection was great also. The employees were very helpful and courteous. We caught the last few minutes of the wine tasting which we enjoyed. For a place that big the cashiers were quick and we did not have to wait in any long lines. read more

This is one of the largest selections of craft beer you can find in Collin County. Which is probably for the best, best holy fuck, you live in Collin County. Who would choose to live in this suburban shithole? Wait, me? Damnit. Anyways, onto the craft beer selection. Are you sitting down while reading this? Good. Well, this place has over 4 aisles dedicated to the goodness of craft beer. Not only the normal stuff, but the rarities that you've come to love. Though, you'll probably have to be "in the know" or a super regular customer to catch one of the 2 or 3 cases per store releases like Lakewood BBT or PAA BA Bomb. And if you understood those acronyms, then congratulations. Total Wine Plano is for you. They have it all, even arranged by style if you're looking to go exploring on your beer adventure. Top to bottom, this place is fantastic. The only thing I wish would be better is the ability to get in and out of their parking lot on a Saturday or Friday night. Some people call this establishment Total Wine and More. I prefer to call it Valhalla. I can practically hear my ancestors chant my name as I walk through the doors. The selection of local and craft beers are amazing and always up to date with the seasons. I'm not much of a wine drinker but the selection of wine they have is also very extensive. The selection of liquor is also amazing. The prices are some of the best around and the staff is always so helpful. Very nice, clean, well organized, and a great selection. It's basically a liquor "sto" supermarket. The people who worked here were friendly for the most part, but our cashier could have been friendlier and more informed. I asked about something that was out of stock and his suggestion was "maybe in a week", but he was just saying it to say it. Finally, one of the great establishments to buy wine and liquor is landing in Dallas-Fort Worth. Years ago, when my wife and I lived in the Charlotte, NC area, I frequented Total Wine at their Birkdale location because of their quality and selection. I was excited to see one opening in this location in Plano. This is a great establishment; they have an excellent selection of wine (like rows upon rows upon rows), and they have some serious high-end wines and champagnes in a locked cooler, too. Their liquor selection is unparalleled. I am quite happy with their selection of bourbon. There is very helpful information for most of the wines and many of the liquors, including store favorites and wine enthusiast scores. You can make a very well-informed decision if you need to pair a wine with some cheese and crackers, or it is for a main course of beef or chicken. I will be returning to Total Wine in the future. Came here expecting average prices, if not 10-20% more $ because of the more varied selection, and was met with pleasant surprise of certain common items being $1 or 2 cheaper than the cheapest price usually found at Walmart or petrol stations. Absolutely in love with the wine inventory. Separated by both types (Malbecs, Cabernets etc.) and origin (Germany, Portugal, Australia etc.). They have rare Rieslings and things I have never seen elsewhere, including Spec's. Employees weren't hesitant to offer help or answer questions to the best of their knowledge and they seemed stacked on how many people they have on the floor. read more

On this day, I came in for some German beers and ended up staying for wine and vodka tasting. It was awesome. Prices are decent and the staff were very nice and helpful. These guys have thought of everything! Craft beer, wine, kegs, gifts - there is so much to look at! They usually have wine tastings in the back and on the weekends we've been able to sample craft beer. The coolest part is the snack pairings near the craft beer. You might call it an upsell technique, but I like to think of it as a cool little reminder when I'm buying my lager - hey, don't forget the peanuts! I won't, TW&M, thanks! But there is a "manager"(looks too young to have any "good" experience to be a manager) worst customer service ever had. I understand my id expire but it's government issue it does not change my age, fine I won't buy it. My wife goes in with valid id but can buy what was there. Can't even take a pic since she don't know much about alcohol. Been here a couple time, everyone is helpful and nice except this "manager". I expect something about her can't say yet. Being in Plano, it was a bit of a haul to get to a decent liquor store. No, The Colony doesn't count. The other Total Wine & More was off Park Lane in Dallas. Imagine my surprise and salivation when I found out Plano was getting not one, but two TW! This review is for the first of the two that opened in East Plano, off 75 & Plano Parkway in the old CompUSA building. I went there the Friday after they opened and got the same experience as in the Dallas location - brightly lit, huge selection, free tastings of wine/liquor. Some great opening day specials - $9.99 for a case of Shiner? $18.99 for a handle of Tito's? Heck yea! My only gripe if you can call it that is the beer bar could be better placed...it's on the middle West side of the store. With only a few stools and a logjam of traffic with carts and people standing around, it was a bit hectic on that side, and was near impossible getting a tasting of beer. No matter, didn't put a damper on my trip. Thank you for opening up an amazing store in Plano! read more

I bought a bottle of pinot grigio around 2 months aga bottle .Noticed that they overcharged me but just blew it off as it wasn't that much.Today I purchased a bottle of chardonnay and again I was overcharged. This place is great! It's very classy looking and huge, I actually can't think of a booze store I frequent that had as huge a beer, wine, and liquor selection. I didn't partake but the "build your own six pack" section of individual beers was bananas. They had huge selection of cold beer but even more beer on a regular aisle, with a large seasonal beer section. I wasn' t in the marker for wine but there was clearly tons and tons of it. I was there for my husband's liquor of choice which was a good $2 cheaper than anywhere else we've bought it...score! The only reason I deducted a star was that I was not greeted or asked if I needed help by a single employee, and there were tons of employees around and it wasn't busy at all. That's a little disappointing compared to Goody Goody and Spec's where I've usually gotten pretty great customer service. I don't expect it from the little mom and pop places but these big mega chains usually do have some people on the floor to help navigate the expanse. It's cool that they have the smaller liquor bottles available on the shelves (unlike most places where they are behind the counter) so maybe the staff is so on alert for people stealing those they can't be as nice? Fantastic selection! Tennessee, the state where I live, doesn't have my favorite beer. I went to many different stores on my visit to the Dallas area in search of Carlsberg. I drank it during our trip to Ireland and haven't seen it since. This store carries it so I bought three cases. I drank one with my Dallas friends and took the other two home for later. This store is amazing. There were so many items in every section of the store that it was a bit overwhelming. This review is centered on Total Wine's advertisements and website that says they sell beer kegs. Which is true if you want a keg of beer made in Siberia or somewhere else as remote. But if you want a popular beer like Miller Lite, Sam Adams etc. they are always out. I called this Plano store to check availability of Miller Lite and was told that the closet store to have it in stock was in Lewisville and they only had one. Either get in the keg beer business in a serious way or get out all together. read more
