I had a pretty disappointing experience at this location. The store was really unorganized--there were boxes scattered all over the place, making it feel cluttered and hard to navigate. It didn't seem like anything was stocked properly, and it definitely took away from what should have been an easy shopping trip. What made things worse was the customer service. I interacted with the store manager, Alex, and he was incredibly rude and unhelpful. When I asked for assistance, it felt like I was bothering him, and his attitude made me feel uncomfortable enough that I just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. Overall, between the disorganization and the poor service, I wouldn't recommend this location unless things seriously improve. read more

Karla Baker is the spirit manager and she is extremely knowledgeable about bourbon and so friendly! She made my shopping experience all that much better. She explained what the yellow tags mean and how she genuinely wants you to be happy with your purchase. I have lived in California for 25 years and had never visited Total Wine & More until recently. Being a regular at BevMo, which is conveniently close to me, I decided to explore the Pleasanton location of Total Wine & More while I was nearby. What was intended to be a quick visit turned into over an hour of browsing this enormous store. I was highly impressed by the store's cleanliness and the helpfulness of the staff. From what I recall comparing prices to BevMo, Total Wine & More seems to offer better deals. The reason I am giving it four stars instead of five is that despite the store's size, they were missing several bottles I was specifically looking for. I still purchased two bottles, but it could have been more if they had the selection I was hoping for. read more

I also like they provide the aisle location in the app so it is super easy to find where it is in store. This makes a huge difference so I don't have to go all around the store looking for the item. First time I went to a Total Wine was in Folsom. Before they opened any locations in the Bay Area. It's been my go to for bourbon and whiskey for years, competitive prices and occasionally hard to find bottles. Today I went to get a bottle for a friend's birthday with my son. There was a Bushmills Irish whiskey vendor there, so I got to sample two of their bottles. I went in there for a particular whiskey, which they did not have so ended up bringing a different bottle to the register. Once I arrived to the register the cashier proceeded to card me and my son. Well my son is not 21, so the need to see his ID is irrelevant. At this point the cashier brought over another coworker to question if this was my son. Uh, yeah of course he's my son. They did not believe me. I have never had this happen to me at any sort of establishment until today. I walked out and left the bottle, furious and in awe of what had just happened. My son was confused just the same. There are other stores that I am more than happy to spend my hard earned money on. Thank you Total Wine. Last time I will set foot in your store. read more

Big store with lots of selection. Their sales people push their products on you versus the well known brands because that is all they care about and how they meet their numbers and make their money. Their brands are often not as good and just as expensive. Better off just buying what you like. A manager by the name of Bianca is lacking customer service skills. We asked where a specific bottle of wine was located, and she just pointed to an aisle so we had to find it ourselves. Cashier was friendly. I shop here regularly due to proximity but their prices are often not the lowest so best to check Safeway etc for price comparison. read more

What is impressive about this chain besides the store being large is the level of service from the staff. They really know what they're doing. Unlike some other stores there's plenty of staff to accommodate you. The selection there is just massive. The store is well kept and clean. It's just mind-boggling the vast selection that you have available there. I only bought Luxardo Maraschino cherries and Angostura bitters but did see my favorite Chambord on the shelf - a large one at that! They should have more locations! While this locations size and selection is better than San Ramon I find the knowledge here is not up to par like San Ramon. Except for the gentleman who knows his stuff about wine and came from San Ramon. I walked in last week and went to my favorite section bourbon. I know a ton about bourbon and what is good and not good. I've been blessed to have tried a godly amount of it. While I understand finding an employee that knows a lot about bourbon is not easy. But I encourage if you are going to have someone in that section don't do the typical and suggest what corporate wants their employees to suggest cause of the margins. Or have someone that has enough bourbon to make good suggestions . Also have that employee ask the customers proper questions to understand what to recommend. While the employee was beyond really nice and friendly. Me as a customer did better helping the customers. This is what leads customers to shop else where cause of lack of knowledge and bad suggestions. This review is not by any means to be rude but to bring awareness to a problem I see. Worst experience ever. The cashier named Chance was extremely rude to us. Yelled at us for not laying the bottle down on the conveyor belt. It seemed like it was his goal to bust us for being under aged, when in reality we are in our mid 30s. He told my husband that his license was expired when it wasn't and quizzed me on my license. Was extremely condescending to us and I felt racially profiled (he was nicer to the people behind us bc they were Caucasian) Total Wine - do better and hire people who know what customer service is, not someone who is rude and looks miserable to work at your store. Store isn't bad and they have a lot of stuff I like. Prices are just slightly better than Bevmo. I hate going in here early because every aisle has people stocking stuff who block the aisle. Also hate when people ask me if i need help but it turns out they don't know much about whiskey or whatever I'm asking about. Don't waste my time if you're not an expert on this stuff (because I know way more than you) But overall, not a bad store. I don't give 4 (or 5 stars) for two reasons: 1. The lines are always long and they refuse to open more lines. Why? There's two long lines and six employees wandering around the store. I was in today, two lines (and they weren't that long, only about a five minute wait which is super short for this store), a lady actually came and opened the register next to me which was a shock, and I start to head over there and she has someone just walk up who wasn't in line, instead of taking the person who's been sitting there like an idiot waiting. Not professional. Why does the guy who wasn't even waiting get to walk right up and get out of there before me? Can anyone explain that one? 2. They refuse to stop sending junk mail to our house. I've emailed them so many times, I'm so tired of it. They send ads for 2 bucks off wine, which we don't drink and don't want. Asking them multiple times to stop sending this to us does nothing. So now I don't use the phone number when I ring up now - and I cant' remember the last time I actually got a discount on what I was buying. Their "club" is the worst 'club" of any store that does this. But they'll read this and not care one iota, guaranteed. It's just simple stuff that could make the store much better. read more

Here's the deal - Total Wine followed us here from the East Coast several years ago, and I haven't been to a Bevmo since. The TW locations here do not have the full selection of products that we had back in Claymont, Delaware (really! that place was HUGE!). But it's still impressive. A couple of things to note - if you ask for a liquor recommendation, they may steer you toward brands they own, like Grangestone, without revealing that. I once googled a phrase that an employee said to me about their "personal" Grangestone preference, and discovered that it's a stock phrase that many employees use. Second thing to note, and I took a picture to illustrate: bigger is not always better, for price. There are many liquor bottles available in both 750ml and 1 litre sizes, and the bigger size is often by far a worse deal. I don't think this is exclusive to Total Wine, but buyer beware! Do some quick math - is the bigger size more than 133% cost of the smaller? I asked an associate once why this happens, and got an unconvincing answer. I'd love to hear from anyone who knows. Meanwhile, in the absence of a huge sale at Safeway (sometimes happens!) I'll always buy here, for the price, the expertise, and selection. read more

I love a Total Wine & More whenever I need wine....or more. Whenever I'm in need of a wine or special beverage, I always try to find a Total Wine. Why? Because they have a huge selection, organized inventory, and lovely customer service. This spot is very much on par with the other locations I've been to. So it's "Great" in my mind. L O C A T I O N Total Wine is located in Rose Pavilion off of Rosewood Dr closer to Mochiholic side. There's a bunch of parking here shared by all the establishments. I easily found a spot. I N S I D E Similar layout to all the other Total Wine & Mores I've been to. Wines in one area, beers in another, spirits as well and colder drinks in fridges of a variety of offerings. S E R V I C E I was there pretty much in and out and didn't need anyone's help, but I did over hear conversations of an employee helping a customer and they were quite helpful and patient as they provided options for what the customer was looking for. I easily paid at the register. O V E R A L L Again, I would go to Total Wine & More in a heart beat when looking for drinks and especially new ones to explore. They have fairly descriptive tags as well as you can go to their website to view the item and read up on reviews on the drinks. The staff here are all very friendly and warm! When assisting, they go above and beyond what they are asked for to accommodate. When I had trouble with something, they checked the system multiple times and offered different solutions. I watched another customer ask if a certain drink is around and they crouched very low and searched in the back of the shelf just to make it easier. They also noted that gluten free options should be refrigerated and more accessible to the people who need them. I was touched by the sentiment, and the lady who was being helped was too. I know that this is a retailer, but places like these are part of people's everyday lives and simple acts of kindness and care even if it's not not required mean a lot to me. You know: just in case there's one closer. And what luck! What were the chances of THIS kind of find! (BTW, I'm from nowhere remotely close to here, so yeah, it's a YAY.) Like most Total Wines I've been to, this, too, was inviting and clean and open. No clutter, nothing out of place and whatever I was looking for was really easy to find. (And that's a great thing considering it's my first time here.) It did help that the structure and general set up is like the ones I have been to. I used to work at Westea next door from 2016 to 2021 (when it closed in May). I pretty much witnessed this place being built. I just turned 21 in March so I've only been here like 5-10 times but it's amazing. They have more drinks than I could possibly think of. I'm definitely an amateur when it comes to alcohol, but I know that's definitely a lot of options. I would say thousands of different choices. The restrooms are clean and elegant. They provide free electric vehicle charging in 2 spots with 2 level 2 chargers. 100% free, no card required by Volta. This was definitely something I took advantage of while an employee at Westea - many times during my shift I moved my car to and/or from this spot. It charges a good distance after 1-2 hours, I would say full (55-60 miles) for the plugin hybrids such as my current Chevy Volt. For the Nissan Leaf I had before this, I would say 2-3 hours for a full battery. I would assume a Tesla from 20% to 80% would take less than 4 hours but I wouldn't know! read more

Went there to get a keg which they have on hand and u just walk in cooler and pick the one u want very cool very easy,but now is when the snag came keeping them from 5 stars we had a empty keg to exchange but didn't have the receipt and they couldn't figure out what to do,very frustrating after standing around for 10.minutes waiting I ended up just paying the deposit not right but I was tired of being there. Totally rude staff!! Went in there yesterday to get very specific items. The guy that I stopped seemed put off just to be asked a question about where to find a product. While waiting to ask another question, he got into an argument with two other employees over a bottle of wine. This review is for the Pleasanton store. They have a location in San Ramon which is equally good. Two stories about this place. First, I needed a little Jamison for hot cocoa. You know, the 50ml size. I checked prices online. It's $4.95 at BevMo and $2.50 at Total Wine. So I come here. Secondly, I was looking for Jeremiah Weed Spiced Whiskey for my famous egg nog recipe. This is a Diageo product that I have used for years, but cannot find it anywhere this year. People must have heard that it's good in egg nog. Even though the website says that the product may be available in limited quantities, check the shelves, it's not there. I asked for assistance. The guy helping me couldn't find it either and said he never heard of it. However, he did help me find a suitable alternative. Bubba's Secret Stills Brown Spice Liqueur is technically not a whiskey (Maybe it isn't aged like whiskey is.), and it has a caramel flavor instead of spice, but it works in egg nog. So everyone on the staff is not thoroughly knowledgeable (Some are wine & spirit encyclopedias.), but they are willing to help. This wasn't the first time I stopped into this store and chatted with someone about what I was looking for. Each time I talk with someone, they either take me to the right place immediately, or they spend the time to help me with my selection. I never feel rushed or unimportant to them. read more

Why do they call Disneyland the happiest place on earth when the happiest place on earth is clearly total wine! I'm a newb and have never heard of total wine until I moved in the area...bye Bevmo! From the outside, this place looks fairly small, but nope! It is HUGE, well stocked and very organized. Staff is very knowledgable and helpful. They have a great selection of local brews and so many cigar options. I wish they had a bigger selection for imported Mexican beers but no biggie. I specifically came on here to write about their ID policy. I see a few other reviews about it so technically it is my fault for not checking Yelp before I went there (how dare I). Everyone in your party carry an ID!!!! Even if you're not paying. First time I ever went in this store was with my boyfriend. We were the happiest adults in a liquor store, shopped around for over an hour...maybe two. Finally have all of our items and we were turned away at the register because both of us didn't have ID. We tried to go around that by having the person without ID sit in the car but that was not allowed. They offered to hold our stuff at the register while we went home to grab it. This policy is a hit or miss, sometimes they check all IDs, sometimes they don't. Kind of annoying but I get it. I went into the Pleasanton tw&m today and man was this store one of the cleanest and well displayed. I came in to look for something sweet since it's been pretty hot. I was greeted by staff every time I walked by one asking if I needed help. The wine manager, Frank gave me two suggestions, one was a champagne and another being moscato. These pick were absolutely on point. It was perfect! I was absolutely stunned at how reasonably priced they were after the first sip. I feel like a lot of the prices are even better than Safeway , Costco and BevMo. I would definitely come back. Everyone was hard working. I see a lot of holiday deals and display up too! They even have an area with a bunch of mini versions that you could purchase if you wanted to try a certain drink without buying a big bottle. The sections are labeled with signs that say: Vodka, whiskey, etc. so it's easy to find the alcohol that you are looking for and the employees are very nice. A couple of employees asked if we needed help looking for a specific drink while we were browsing the store. The whole store was stocked pretty well too. None of the shelves looked bare. The staff here is great, friendly and very knowledgeable about what they are selling. We usually find here varieties of things that we have tasted on our travels. They have Indian Rum, Whiskey! Icelandic beer and vodka. If you don't find what you are looking for, it's easy to reach out to one of the member/staff and they can look in to ordering or bringing it over in to the store.
