My husband and I were a bit divided on this place. He had the burrito Colorado, and loved it. It was huge and the tomato tortilla added a pleasant taste. I had the combo with a taco, burrito and enchilada, all chicken. It looked nice on the plate, but it was boring. The chicken had absolutely no flavor. To me, Mexican food should have cheese. There was next to no cheese on my plate. I was excited to have a new place to try, but left disappointed. However, the waiter was a nice kid and very attentive. read more

The atmosphere is great, I love the lighting! The bathrooms are nice and clean, and they make you feel at home. The horchata is top-tier! The hot sauce was made with peanuts with no other option for your tacos. It was strange making your tacos taste like Thai food which isn't what we were wanting when we went to a Mexican restaurant. Service was great and the food came very fast. My wife had a chicken ham and shrimp meal with cheese sauce on it and she really liked it. I had a pepper stuffed with yummy cheese and a piece of steak over it that was tasty. My daughters both had a steak chimichanga with cheese sauce on it. They both liked the queso sauce. The only complaint were the slides as they were very bland and flavorless. The Mexican rice was average., the vegetables did not have any seasoning or butter on them and the black beans were tasteless. The salsa for the chips was very good. It had a little spice to it but not so much that my daughters could not it eat it. The presentation was awesome. So in summary a nice restaurant, and yummy food. Totonacos is awesome. Great staff and great food. I got the Burrito Colorado and it was so good and a lot of food. Eva, one of the owners, came over and told us that they make their own Chorizo and it was so good. I would definitely recommend that burrito and my wife got just the grilled chicken salad and I actually enjoyed it too! Really unimpressed. We were the only customers at 5 pm on a Thursday and still had to ask twice for our bill. I asked what the waiter recommended for my 12-year-old son and he said "There's lots of things on the kids menu. How about fries and Macaroni and cheese?" I suggested he recommend something Mexican; the waiter then recommended the half burrito, which we said, "Yes, half a burrito." The waiter brought (and charged us for) a FULL burrito, which my son took one bite of and pushed away. My 8-year-old took one bite of her quesadilla and said, "Ooh gross!" She did like the fries. I ordered a chicken fajita; they served grilled tomato strips instead of grilled red peppers. And look at the photo above of their fajita--where's the plate to actually set your tortilla to assemble the meat and veggies? There is none. You use the tin foil. read more

I came to this place because I heard nothing but good comments and good reviews. I ordered a carnitas taco, tamale, and a chile relleno. The carnitas tasted nothing like carnitas be more of a bland shredded beef on top of a dry corn tortilla. The chile in the chile relleno was under cooked and was hard to cut and the egg around it was soggy. The tamale tasted like it was store bought. The beans that came in my meal had absolutely no flavor. My toddler son's love mac n cheese but this was not the case here. The mac n cheese was to watered down and had a small hint of cheese flavor. The only thing that tasted good was the fries from my sons kids meals. With a name like Totonacos I would expect it to be more authentic. I will not be coming back to Totonacos again. read more

This was our first visit to this place. We were greeted and seated promptly. We got some chips and salsa and our drinks in good time. The salsa was really good. It didn't have so much cilantro that it made me want to gag, and it was thicker (like blended) and it had a good flavor and texture. The place was clean and it was laid out quite nicely. Our waitress took our order and after a short amount of time, brought out some of it. Up to this point, everything was fine. But I didn't received my salad that I ordered or my black beans. I asked for these. The tortillas that were served with my fajita were very dried out and hard on one end, so after the first one, I didn't have any more. The fajita was very flavorful and so were the veggies, but just a bit on the dry side. It took quite a while to get my salad and black beans. I had my meal half done when they came. We asked for some more salsa, and we were nearly done by the time it came. So the server was not great. I'm sure she was probably new, but hopefully the next visit, it will be better. The food was very good and we will give this another try and hopefully the service will be better. I hope this place does well. It is extremely good Mexican food. read more

This was one of the best Mexican food experiences I have ever had. Let's begin with the service. The owner is the one who waited on us and she couldn't have been better! She was very friendly and provided great recommendations. Moving on to the ambience. It was extremely clean, a lot of seating, bright lights, and pleasant wall colors. The best part is that I didn't leave the restaurant stinky. Okay now on to the food. We ordered burritos and fajitas and they did not disappoint! The burritos were huge and the fajitas were steaming hot. We left with our bellies full and smiles on our face. So glad Spanish Fork finally has a great Mexican place. Well done Totanacos! read more

I've been twice to this restaurant. Pros: Can seat you pretty quickly. The chips and salsa for those who don't like a lot of heat are great and plentiful. Sodas good. A employee in the back sure can sing along with the radio-- not kidding pretty good voice. Con: Slower service (and this may be completely dependent on your server), but we were long finished eating and indicated we were finishing up and waited a long while for check. Waited close to 20 minutes for food. The food however is one note-- as in I had a chile relleno that was mushy and obviously straight from the freezer to the fryer--the filling just came out in a watery liquid. It and the red sauce with it tasted as spicy as the bland spanish rice and the refried beans. I had a taco and a enchilada as well with the ground beef (if your kids are picky the ground beef has quite a bit of onion in it) reminded me of old style taco time. Avoid the kids chicken nuggets kiddo was sick pretty quick after eating--they weren't a natural color inside. The positive of the taco which I liked okay the shell was freshly fried. The rest of the table said the same-- no flavor--bland. Disclaimer we are native Utahns we are used to Utah type Mexican food as in covered with cheese. read more

I've really enjoyed the change-up in high quality Mexican food with Totonacos. It's unique compared to any other Mexican restaurant I've eaten at. The best way I can describe it as fresh, delicious, and more healthy than traditional. I've eaten there four times in the past year since they opened. Three out of four meals were 5 star, one meal was a 3 star. That just leads me to believe they were having a bad day or maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. I can't remember. The fajitas, enchiladas rancheros, and fish tacos were all incredibly delicious and fresh. We've recommended two sets of friends, both foodies, to check it out. One set had a stellar experience and they eat there all the time now. The other set must have gone on a bad day because they didn't like it as much. I believe that they are worth trying more than once if you get anything less than a 4 or 5 star experience. Awesome food and great service! read more

My wife and I are recent transplants from the state of Washington state, east side of the mountains. We have been searching the Spanish Fork area for a Mexican Food venue comparable to the food trucks of the agricultural side of the Evergreen State. Readng the Yelp reviews seemed to direct us to this place. Clean, well lit, reasonable prices--okay, good to go. Best chile relleno? not by a long shot--chewy as a rubber tire, cheese almost non-existent. We asked for some bean dip for our chips. We got some refried beans with a very soupy cheese sauce (seriously, it was like a weak cream). We didn't finish it. Wife wanted a cheese enchilada--it was virtually two dimensional. As if they put a teaspoon of that cream sauce inside a tortilla and served it. It hardly rose above the plate level. To be fair, the chicken inside my chicken enchilada was flavorful and plentiful. Wife took one bite of her tamale and declared it too dry for meaningful consumption. Signs inside and out about a buffet on Thursdays, but of course, not THIS THURSDAY. Soon, they said. Sadly, we'll never try it. 4 out of 5 main courses were only two stars. We'll keep searching. read more
