A taste of Japan right in Aiea! This place has been in my bookmarks for years and I finally got to try it out in their newest location. When they first opened this location, there was literally a line before opening but today, there was no line at all and we were the first ones in at 11 am. However, by the time we got our food, there were around 10 ppl (max occupancy is ~15 ppl). We ordered the Ume Bowl which is the most basic one which highlights their infamous Negitoro. Their negitoro includes ahi, scallops, cucumbers, ocean salad, green onions, nori, & you can add your own sesame seeds. I loved that each bite had something different and all the textures. We also got the shoyu egg (+$1.50) which added a salty and sweet flavor. I also liked the step by step instructions on how to best enjoy their bowls. My favorite way was making your own hand roll using the nori. I love the added crunchy nori and salty/sweet combo. Lastly, all bowls come with miso soup. I opted for the seaweed soup and the hubby got the soup of the day: salmon miso soup. He enjoyed it and said the salmon added another level of depth to the miso. There were also chunks of salmon in it. Overall, great quality fish and quick service! We'll definitely be back!

Just left Totoya and OMG! This was so good! First time here and my daughter and her hubs wanted us to try this place. First off, the service is EXCELLENT! Super friendly and very helpful. The food? WTH! I felt like I was in Tokyo! Fish is so fresh and the salmon miso soup was killers! We will definitely be back!!!!! I would give 1000000 stars if I could!

Honestly, finding out of your to go place to eat ..opened up a location in Aiea is an absolute game-changer. I usually brave the traffic and parking over at their Kaimuki spot, so saving some serious gas money by coming here is a massive win! Lo and behold, it's practically right next door to my absolute favorite dessert spot, Ice Garden. Dinner and dessert in the exact same plaza? Absolute perfection. The food was incredible, but the service really sealed the deal. I was honestly pretty focused on devouring my meal, but the lady who took my order was so genuinely cheerful and happy that it just put me in an amazing mood. With the cheerful attitude brings a good ambiance to the place. Great food, sweet people, and the perfect location. I'll definitely be back!

Happy Mother's Day... It's something we don't usually do as this busy day makes our experience more chaotic and hectic besides I take care of mom on more than just one day but since I didn't have any plans or errands to do I decided to take her out at some places that she's been asking me and decided to do and Totoya was a place she's been asking for as well so checking out their third location in Aiea sounded like the perfect thing to do. We arrived just before they opened and with just a few guests waiting outside I thought that we had a chance for their first seating which we did and it was just nice. Can't really say which location is more spacious as it's all pretty cozy but the staff does work the system well as we sat on the counter hugging the kitchen I sat next to a lady who was very loud and it really destroyed my vibe and talked throughout the whole time is my only complaint but we enjoyed our bowls...Negitoro with crab miso soup for mom and Salmon Ikura for me with Ikura on the side. What makes it nice is the fast service and self service water and ginger they have table side so there's no flagging down anyone as you are able to enjoy your meal at your own pace. If you don't finish their generous portion you can take it home which take out is a new thing that they're doing as well is a nice option since they get so busy and are able to enjoy at your leisure wherever you are but on this Mother's Day it was very nice and happy mom is happy me as well. Thank you!

First of all, if you want to eat here, then you need to plan accordingly. They do not take reservations. You also can't just leave your name and come back when the table is ready. You check in and wait in a line outside, regardless of the weather. Luckily, we had a large umbrella to shield us from the sun. The servers may collect your order while you're in line so that your food is ready. There's limited seating so this practice benefits them. If they serve you quickly, then you'll leave quickly. There's no alcohol here so the vibe is very much "fast food" (as in, please eat and leave). With that having been said, the food is worth every bit of the wait in line. I could eat here every day. Get the shoyu egg, even if you don't know what it is. It will compliment the flavors coming up. Next time though, we'll either take out or delivery. There's no real need to dine in. But if you do dine in, we appreciated that they played JPop overhead, adding to the ambience.

Negitoro (ネギトロ) is a popular Japanese sushi topping made from minced raw tuna mixed with green onions. It traditionally combines fatty tuna (toro) scraps scraped from between the bones with green onions (negi), though modern versions often use minced, blended tuna mixed with oils to create a rich, creamy texture. (Google) Totoya is known for its Negitoro. This is the second location on Oahu. The first Totoya is located in Kaimuki. We stumbled upon this Aiea location when we went to the Roast Duck Kitchen. My daughter, who is visiting from CA, wanted roast duck with cake noodles for lunch. Lo and behold, she saw the Totoya sign and changed her mind, when I said ... my treat. Neither of us had tried Totoya. We both heard about the delicious rice bowls topped with Ikura (salmon roe/fish eggs). The restaurant is small in size. There is counter seating and a few tables against the wall. Clean tables and nice wall decor. I did not check if there was a bathroom. Service was attentive and 5 stars. Water jug provided on the table. Our order came out quickly. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. We each ordered a different bowl. See photos. I really enjoyed my maguro lover bowl that was filled with maguro slices that had been seasoned in a shoyu like sauce. Rice was nicely prepared and I highly recommend getting the nori pieces to wrap some rice and maguro into a hand roll to devour! A happy and delicious meal here at Totoya.

Fresh food? Check! Friendly staff? Check! Cozy space? Check! Are you are hungry for Negitoro, check out this place! Space is limited so expect a line. When we visited, there wasn't a system for waiting customers. We just stood in line and were called in wherever seats were available. Ikura shower comes with a cool performance from the staff~ :) Eat fresh & Have FUN!

Outside... located next to Ice Garden... go before opening and stand in line!

Lunch in Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i... This third location of Totoya is the best one because of the parking... LOL! There's FREE covered parking at Aiea Shopping Center! This Totoya is on the same level as McDonald's, and is between Ice Garden and Koa Pancake House. I would recommend coming before opening time to stand in line. I arrived after 11am and the first round of customers were already seated inside of the cozy shop. There was a long line to get in and I waited about an hour for my turn. Luckily, it was overcast... or else I would be sunburnt or soaking wet from the recent downpours. The system was very efficient. While we were waiting in line, the staff handed out menus and took our orders. We were seated in an organized manner where our food was brought promptly! I had ordered the Fukuju which had a tower of scallops, uni, salmon, tobiko, red shrimp, snow crab, tuna, and original negitoro. The bowl included two pieces of nori which i used to make loose handrolls. I appreciated the complimentary bowl of seaweed soup that washed everything down. I did grind some sesame seeds over everything, but I actually didn't need more flavoring because I added on the Ikura Shower for $9.80! That was really fun! Everything was delicious, beautiful, and fresh! Staff were friendly, cheerful, and personable! I look forward to returning, especially since I have a Loyalty Card!

Went in on Thursday, and no line! was greeted as I walked in and sat down. Served was very friendly and ready to answer any questions I had since it was my first time. Restaurant was very clean and bright! All the condiments located in front of you. Also self serve pitcher of water and glasses. Decided on the Matsu bowl with the egg/shoyu. Wow! It looked so delicious! Followed the instructions on how to eat my negitoro bowl. Everything tasted so fresh! Next time I'll order the ikura shower, I like that salty burst of flavor! I wish I could order more uni too haha! I certainly will be back for more!

We went right when the restaurant opened at 5 pm and were the third party to be greeted and seated. The shop is cozy aka small, but comfortable and not too noisy. The menu is simple but the offerings are tasty. I'm not a huge ikura fan so I settled on a maguro bowl with a side order of snow crab and nori. It was delicious and fresh and I'd definitely order it again. The crab miso soup was tasty but I'd probably get the plain one next time as I was so full after my bowl I could barely finish it

Today, Feb 15 is the first day open at Aiea location. There's a sign in sheet and just write your name on the clipboard. They open at 11 am - 2pm for lunch. We came around at 1130 am and got called about 12 noon The food is delicious. Great customer services. And if you get the ikura shower they do a little cheer. So recommend it. At least one of your party should try it. Yes. We will be coming back again. Thanks for reading.

The food was delicious, fresh fish and flavorful. The food quality is high. The service was smooth. The ambiance is calm and cozy for a small area. The portion size is decent to the price.

The hype is real! I've been seeing this place on my fyp on social media and I knew I had to try it!…read more First off, don't be alarmed when you pull up to a mechanic shop on the side of the road. Although in a weird spot, I promise the food is worth it! I personally have never had this type of Mexican food before. I'm used to chimichangas, enchiladas, street tacos so I was really out of my comfort zone here. But, I'm so glad it gave it a try because it was delicious! My friends & I came here for lunch and it was pretty busy. The line to order was out the door! I already knew I wanted Da OG Tostada with the infamous blue crab dip and shrimp ceviche. It was soooo refreshing & citrusy! The ceviche and well with the crab dip. The tostada was super crunchy despite all the juices from the dip and ceviche. My friends ordered the Kiawe Smoked Marlin tacos and the Ahi Tostada. They said they were delicious as well. The marlin was smoked and deep fried. The ahi was super fresh and the portions were generous! Lastly, we got chips and salsa and chips and guacamole. The salsa was on the saucier side (not chunky) and had a little bit of a kick to it. The guacamole was so good! You could taste the onions they added in it. The chips though. Omg. They were super crispy and perfect for dipping. Overall, although this was my first time, my friends said everything they've tried has been phenomenal! I'll have to come back to try more!

Of the two, we surprisingly ended up liking the latter more, as it had more of an Asian flair to it, whereas the OG tostada just tasted like traditional ceviche. Each tostada came with a generous amount of fish, which made the pricing more worth it. Although the tostadas were good, we didn't care for the steak quesadilla, nor the Mexican rice. The rice tasted oddly charred and smoky, which was not at all what we were expecting. It was honestly hard to finish. We tried mentioning it to the staff, but they seemed dismissive. Also, the parking is a hot mess here! There's literally only three small lanes that can fit two to three cars per lane for tandem parking.

There is plenty of parking, so unlike a lot of popular lunch spots finding a place to park is one less thing to worry about. I ordered the Spicy Crunch combo, and the first thing that stood out was just how fresh everything tasted. The fish had that clean, buttery texture you hope for when ordering poke, and every bite tasted like it had just been prepared. Please do yourself a favor and get inari bomb with unagi sauce because it absolutely lives up to the hype. It's a cone sushi stuffed with sushi rice and filled with spicy ahi and it is the perfect combination of sweet, savory, and rich. Even with a long line out the door, the employees kept things moving at an impressive pace while still being genuinely friendly and patient with everyone ordering (including tourists). Between the quality of the poke, the efficient service, and the convenience, this is an easy spot to recommend whether you're a first timer or already on the hunt for one of the island's best poke spots

After walking around, the hostess asked if we had a reservation. I gave her my name, but she said we didn't have one, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. She then explained that our reservation was actually at their sister restaurant around the other side of the building. We went over there and found that it was primarily a sushi restaurant, which wasn't really what we were looking for. We had expected more of an izakaya-style experience, so we canceled the reservation and returned to the original restaurant. Once seated, the service was good and our server was attentive throughout the meal. One thing that was a little confusing was that sushi and sashimi had to be ordered from the sister restaurant, even though we were dining in the other restaurant. The food was brought over and served to us without any issues, and there were no problems with the bill, but it took us a while to understand how the two restaurants operated together. We ordered several dishes, including chicken skin wrapped gyoza, crab tempura, an assorted sashimi platter, a cream cheese and fish roe appetizer served with toast, an egg dish topped with fish roe, chicken karaage, and the miso butterfish. The highlights for me were the chicken karaage, miso butterfish, and gyoza. I enjoyed them enough to order another round of the gyoza and chicken. That said, many of the dishes leaned toward the sweeter side of Japanese cuisine, which just isn't my personal preference. If you enjoy those flavors, your experience may be different. Overall, the food was good, the service was solid, and there were a few standout dishes. The confusion with the reservation, entrance setup, and relationship between the two restaurants got the evening off to an awkward start, but the meal improved once we were seated. I'm not really a Japanese food person, so four stars is probably the highest rating I could realistically give a Japanese restaurant. With that in mind, I thought they did a good job, and there were a few dishes I would consider ordering again.
