I went in for my very first visit here for a deep tissue massage with hot stones, and was impressed! I work a desk job and have several knots in my back and Tiffany was wonderful. Not only was she very good at what she does, but she was also kind and thoughtful. The neck and shoulder part of my massage was the absolute best part. My wife and I had a 60 min. massage for the 1st time hear and loved it. The room was clean and comfortable, and both my therapist and my wife's were great. Unfortunately I didn't remember either one of their names but when we go back I will ask for the same services and personnel. This is a very close location since we live near Lindsey and Williams field. The front waiting room is a little on the small side, but we didn't sit there for long after finishing up our paperwork, so it wasn't a big deal. However prices keep climbing and quality declining. I finally had the very misfortune to meet the "owner". She's money hungry (trying to charge me full price and give me half the service for THEIR mistakes) and for lack of a better word... A total bitch. Very rude. Doesn't smile. Tried to scold and treat me like a I was a child because THEY gave me wrong information and then "confirmed" my appointment with a family member that also went there but not even from the same household. I had a very good experience here last night. I was running a little late and they said no problem. I was checked in and taken back quickly. My massage therapist was great. She really gave me a great massage and i would go back to see her again except I totally forgot her name. You could tell she is a very experienced therapist. Check out was easy! The only reason why I give 4 instead of 5 stars is because there is not much that makes this place really stand out and nothing was really above and beyond. I just recently went to Touch of Tranquility for the first time. It was recommended by a neighbor on NextDoor so I decided to give it a shot. When I called to set up the appointment, the woman who answered the phone sounded very winded like she was in a hurry. I had read on previous Yelp reviews that the front desk tends to be understaffed, so I assumed she was busy and tried to be quick about making my appointment. I told her it was my first visit and that I would like a deep tissue massage with a therapist who is known to be strong and doesn't mind doing therapeutic work. She stated that Aracelis was available on the day I requested, so I took the receptionist's recommendation and booked a 60 minute appointment. She was quick to get off the phone and never gave me any kind of instruction on whether or not I should come early for paperwork, etc. Because I have been getting massages for the past 20+years, luckily I knew to arrive a few minutes early. The front desk is very busy with clients checking in and checking out, and it does get a bit cramped, but the building is very pretty and cozy. When my name was called, the therapist took me back to the room and introduced herself. It was not Aracelis, who I had booked with. For reasons unknown to me, I was put with a different therapist. I went ahead with the massage anyway. The tables were very comfortable. As another stated in a different review, I could hear the clock on the wall ticking. Once the massage started I was able to tune it out for the most part but I am able to unwind and relax pretty easily. But I could also hear someone closing what sounded like cupboards on one wall, and a bunch of talking and laughing on the other side of the opposite wall. (Perhaps I was next to a break room?) This went on for most of the 60 minutes I was in the room. Again, I can tune it out, but I know that many people cannot, so it is worth noting. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the massage. I will say it was a beautiful medium to firm Swedish massage, but that is not what I requested. I wanted (and needed) deep tissue. So the reason for my lower star rating is because 1.) my therapist was switched and I was not made aware of the switch ahead of time, and 2.) the therapist I had NEVER ONCE asked me how the pressure was, how I was feeling, how I was doing, etc. I had to ask for the temperature on the table to be adjusted.--Perhaps I should've spoken up about the pressure also. But more importantly, she should've asked!!! I didn't leave feeling any better than when I first walked in. The check out process was easy. - Not as many people were at the desk when I left compared to when I checked in. I did have to wait a moment for the receptionist to finish up a phone call but it wasn't that big of a deal and was a normal check out process. Because Touch of Tranquility is somewhat close to where I live I would consider going back but only if I can be guaranteed a massage with a therapist who does deep tissue work. read more

I had a fabulous massage here today, by Jessica (Jess)... she gives a very firm / deep massage, just the way I love! My neck was a bit stiff before going in, and I could tell she knew what she was doing, as she was working on my neck. My neck feels GREAT now!! Jess is very knowledgeable about health and wellness, and you can tell she is passionate about what she does. We talked a bit, during the massage -- which normally I don't care to do, UNLESS the conversation is worthy of my not focusing only on the massage. She's knowledgeable about pressure points, and she is truly a healer. I've had tons of massages over the years... and today's experience fits into my top 3 massage therapists that "really" know what they are doing! I had seen one negative comment on this business which I thought was ridiculous -- it actually sparked me to come try this place out... lol. It's not hard to "not" have conversation during a massage, if you really don't want to... you just remain silent. Plus, that particular review reeked of retaliation over opposing beliefs vs. facts. I HIGHLY recommend this place... they answered my Yelp request to book the appointment within about 10 mins, and got me in on short notice. The massage therapist that I wanted (Jessica), even stayed a bit later - so she could fit me in. And, the decor of this place is beautiful! My fabulous fiance booked me a much needed massage after my neck had been spasming at work causing my head to tick as I worked. I have had shoulder problems since swimming competitively in HS, so I live for the opportunity to have a real deep tissue massage and don't get them often enough. He booked me on a Sunday afternoon and prepaid, which was a lovely surprise. The place is very nicely put together, clean, with relaxing music playing upon entering the building. I was greeted by my masseur Gillian (sp?). She was tall, slender and I was a little concerned that she wouldn't be able to break up the scar tissue creeping throughout my upper back. She asked me what areas I wanted to work on, I told her of my neck and upper back problems, and she went to work. HOLY COW she is good, I almost hesitate to write the review because she will get booked out through 2054. I told her I preferred deep pressure, and she worked out every kink of my neck, shoulders, and entire back. She was strong, but experienced in what she was doing, she checked in on me to ensure that I wasn't pretending I could handle it when I couldn't. She applied heat to the areas I told her were bothering me the most, and listened to my biggest concerns. The massage was so helpful, I have slept like a baby for the past two weeks and she deserves all the praise. I can't wait to go back and book with her again, and I am so excited the location is just down the street from our home. read more

Booked a couples massage here for my husbands birthday after hearing nothing but good things. We were definitely not disappointed. When you first walk in, it feels cozy & quaint, not too fancy that you feel out of place but all the simple touches you need are there. Also, weird observation, but it smells really good too haha. Not too strong but we both commented on the good smell. Couples massage room was set up & ready to go, with two heated massage tables (excellent touch). Both therapists were arguably the best either of us have either had (& we aren't exactly strangers to getting massages). Included warm towels on our feet, a heated head rest when you flip over to your back & a clean wet cloth at the end to wipe down if needed before getting dressed again. All the little details you would expect from a high end resort massage, but with a quaint neighborhood feel. We will definitely be back!! read more

I need to rave about Kathleen. I have fibromyalgia and also had pulled something in my upper back that caused a great deal of pain and discomfort. I have had many painful experiences with massages as many therapists don't understand fibromyalgia. I have come away with 3 days of aches and pains. Kathleen, however, understands, not just fibro, but what the body needs at the moment. She gave me a therapeutic massage and almost completely fixed my back in one session. She is thorough and extremely knowledgeable. By the next session, my upper back was fixed. But I also benefited from other aches and pains going away. I highly recommend Touch of Tranquility and especially seeing Kathleen. She really knows her craft and what a body needs. The therapeutic massage is different from a simple relaxation massage but it was exactly what I needed! Any questions I had, she answered completely. I've been here a few times and have had good experiences. Jillian is a standout massage therapist. Unfortunately, my last visit was less than satisfactory. I was scheduled with Jess whom I've seen once before. As soon as I entered the room, I asked for the ceiling fan to be turned off because it was making a clanging noise. Jess said it had been like that for a week due to a repair. I waited awhile for her to return to start the massage, and I noticed the ticking of the wall clock was very bothersome. When she came back, I asked her to turn up the music or stop the clock. She asked, "Is that seriously going to bother you?" Um yeah, that's why I said it. In my past experiences, massage therapists are usually striving to make you comfortable. Jess sighed and was gone again for what felt like 10 minutes. I nearly got up and left. When she returned, she explained that she had to hunt for another way to keep time. She also told me that the owner said I should let them know up front that I'm bothered by noise. Excuse me? So I'm a diva because I don't like loud ticking clocks during a massage that should be relaxing and soothing? I'm a weirdo, I guess. Maybe when Touch of Tranquility can figure out how to monitor time without loud clocks, I can return. I hear there's lots of great digital options. read more

I'm so disappointed to have to update this review. Having moved to NYC and back here again it was really a place I was looking forward to visiting again. I travel a lot and sleep on planes a lot and in bad hotel beds a lot so having a massage is obviously super important. A super important thing I don't do often enough. Which is why I booked a massage twice in one week here. The first visit I saw Sydney (sp?) and she was great. I needed a deep tissue massage and that's exactly what I got. I also had a pinched nerve that was just killing me, but she couldn't get to it so I let it ride. I knew I needed another massage as my body was just rebelling against my constant abuse of it so I made the second appointment. The day of I called and said that while I really liked Sydney's massage, she hadn't been able to get to my pinched nerve (one of the main reasons I came the first time) and I was desperate to have someone who knew a little more therapeutic massage try to fix it. I would have been fine had they not been able to change so quickly, but they told me that the owner would be doing this massage. I assumed that it was because she could definitely get my pinched nerve to come UN-pinched. Ouch. Met the owner, not sure of her name, I think I forgot. At any rate I wasn't super impressed with her personality. Moved on as I wasn't there to make friends. She began the massage and, this is the one thing I really disliked about the place before, she starts doing really strange things to, I think, get that hard to reach nerve? Not sure. I have had an excellent therapeutic massage for the exact same problem and this was NOTHING like that AT ALL. I wasn't contorted into a million different positions and the other person knew exactly how to un-pinch that nerve. This was not that place. Anyway, before my massage I had a momentary lapse of judgement and went and spray tanned. Had I remembered my massage I would not have done this. No worries, the owner asked me where I got my tan at. I proceeded to tell her that it was actually a spray tan, not a bed tan, and I got it at this place around the corner where she snidely interjected that I needed a new tanning place. She then commented that the sheets were black. This is not true on any level. She massaged only my back and not much else. The spray tan doesn't come off that easily. Give me a break. Don't be upset when I write a review like this then use your commenting abilities to make me look bad. First, I don't pay someone to comment negatively on my buying choices. I pay someone to get rid a pinched nerve. Second, it's a spray tan. It isn't permanent, it's spray. They say to wait 6 hours to shower for a reason: it definitely comes off if you rub oil on it (but it doesn't come off parts of the body that don't).. Mea culpa. Anyway, after all was said and done I went to pay and the owner was talking to the receptionist about me. I also don't pay for that. I left knowing I would never be back here and that my pinched nerve problem was still not solved after spending a lot of money. While my back felt good after loosening the muscles, a few hours later it was back again. Never again. (I'm super nervous about posting this. I do NOT want a bi***y reply from the owner. I originally was not thrilled with this facility but after speaking to the Owner she handled the situation and gave me a complimentary massage with an excellent therapist and I have returned several times since- seeing that particular therapist. My experience with this facility was not the best. I had previously sent my mom there for a spa day and she had a wonderful experience. I then recommended it to a friend who also loved her day there. I had held out with a spa finder gift card to have a nice relaxing day... my massage was awful! The girl forgot an entire leg and the scratched my head for about 15 minutes and continued to do so even after I told her it was not comfortable. My facial was fantastic! I felt my skin was glowing after. Upon leaving I was not checked out with friendliness, I was not asked how my services were, and she seemed annoyed I payed with a gift card. $50 for an hour massage, are you kidding me?? Admittedly, I went in to this appointment a bit skeptical, however after being a massage club member for a year, what did I honestly have to lose? When I called to make my appointment, the gentleman was very accommodating and friendly, asking if it was my first visit. He genuinely said I would love the aromatherapy, hot towels, etc and helped me schedule a same-day appointment that accommodated my schedule. Score 1 for business, 0 for skepticism. I was running late due to horrendous traffic and called ahead and the receptionist was very understanding and assured me that I would receive my full 60 minute session and to relax. Not condescending, truly kind. They're racking up the points, this business. I arrive and am greeted warmly though the receptionist is on the phone with another client. (Which I'm sure we've all had that awkward experience of being ignored so do you sit...stand...or maybe I'm just awkward...) Anyway, leather chairs, candles burning, plush blanket draped over one of the chairs, gorgeous decor...I am instantly relaxed though it's taken me about 90 minutes to drive home from central Phoenix. My massage therapist led me back through an equally beautiful hall to the room. Ambience is clearly what the owner(s) paid attention to when considering the decor. High walls, dark wood, the massage table had microfiber sheets, candle burning. The massage products are all natural, as I understand from reviewing the website. I have very fair, sensitive skin (read: I'm a princess) so this is important to me. A hot towel is applied to the back of the neck after you roll over. My massage therapist even did some eucalyptus aromatherapy as my nose gets stuffy from lying face down that long. Excellent experience. As an added bonus the massage therapist is extremely knowledgeable about neuromuscular therapy which is helpful for my chronic headaches. I will definitely return! read more

I was excited to try this place out because of all the great reviews, and I was pleasantly surprised by my therapist. I've called a couple times to get in on same day and fortunately I was able to get in today. I have to say, the reviews are spot on for poor customer service. I phoned in and got a lot of attitude from the front desk girl. Furthermore, when arrived, she didn't offer water or share the location of the restroom. Furthermore, she had a number of employees whispering with her up at the front. She never engaged in conversation, welcoming me as it was my first time there. I got in with Danielle H and she was amazing. Completely worth the attitude from the receptionist. Danielle was able to completely read my body and adjust technique accordingly. She was able to work therapeutically without going Helga's House of Pain on me. She never took her hands off my body and followed through from origin to insertion of muscle. Danielle checked in throughly throughout the massage to check on pressure. It was just amazing. Upon exiting the serene massage room, Danielle was there with water and checking in still. Loved it!! I would have loved to book another session or more with Danielle, but receptionist, again with an ale player at the desk, didn't even offer to book another session for me. I'll phone in an speak with a manager to personally give my praise of Danielle and to book with her again, but also to express my disappointment with the receptionist and lack of customer service from her. Took my dog to a new day care ranch for the first time and was waay out of my neighborhood. Yelped a couple massage places to kill some time and this one looked good, called and, they were able to get me in for an immediate appointment with Amanda, just 50 minutes but, better than nothing. right? Recently, I have made the switch to the Asian Foot Massage scene where you can get 90 minutes for less than $50 and its really good almost always. If this place was closer to me, I would switch back to the in and out full body. The receptionist/owner, Kathleen was nice, the therapist was in my top 5 of all time, and the facility is super clean and comfortable. The price is reasonable and yelp saves you $5 more. They close early 3-4 nights and the prepaid only saves you about $4 a massage but, if you live near here I highly reccomend this place. This place is so good that I would not review it if I lived closer. Wat???? Yup, selfish of me but, I did this with one spot and after a while the receptionist was ALWAYS saying "Im sorry but, we are booked for today. How about Friday at 9 am?" My wife and I had a very interesting experience here. All I will say is, really make sure you request the right person for what you need. I will not hold my first experience against them, as my wife had a great experience. Now with that said, go see Sidney if you are like us and go for true therapy and knots getting rubbed out. Found this spot on yelp with outstanding reviews so I checked out the website. The website had pricing that was reasonable for couples and i wanted to treat my boyfriend to a wonderful birthday massage. We were able to book their last spot a week before so they do fill up quick. We both signed our three page documents prior heading in so we were set. Got escorted into our room right at our appointment time at 12:45pm - so +1 for punctuality. Got a chance to use the restroom before the services and their facilities are all very clean and smells good too! I had Chrystal and my boyfriend had Jill for our masseuses - and we were very pleased with the strength they used for our massages. We both like deep firm massages and my boyfriend was very pleased with the strength of his massage. My masseuse focused a lot on my upper body like I asked and gave me a firm massage just like I needed. Many massages I have previously had were not strong enough, but we left really pleased. We dressed down to just our underpants and they were very respectful of us too. We got bottled waters right when we exited from our masseuses - awesome service. We paid at the front desk and gave above 20% tips for exceptional service - total was around $133 for two people with the $5 discount on yelp - so don't forget to check in! I had belonged to one of the major membership massage places for a few years but had stopped with them about a year ago. I was dying to get a massage but was hoping to not have to commit to a membership again. I was very pleased with the massage I received at Touch of Tranquility. I went in asking for a deep tissue massage and although it was very different from the treatments I have received before, it was different in a good way. I have never had my neck and shoulders manipulated the way they were but the results were amazing. I felt SO much better. I was lucky enough to have Kathleen (the owner?) treat me. What can I say...this place is truly a gem in Gilbert! Called to make an appointment when they were closed expecting a call the next day, but 2 hours later, on her day off no less, the owner, Kathleen, called and made an appointment for the next day. The ambiance of the establishment is beautiful and serene, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. You truly feel, once you step through the doors, that you are paying next to nothing for a top spa experience. I have been to different massage places around Gilbert, and this one is by far the best. The best thing about it, is not only are the massages expertly done, but you actually get the whole hour, not the standard 50 minutes. I had a back problem, and explained this to Kathleen, and she actually spent extra time after the massage to teach me how to stretch to help it heal. Do not waste your time with the other massage places that try to sell you on their memberships after an "average" at best massage, just go here and you'll never go any where else!! read more
