Came here for a Christmas cake, left with a cake and a big full of bread (oops)? It's just like going to Target for one item but it never ends up like that... except for that fact that bread smells so good; you walk in and the fresh warm breeze of delicious smelling bread just slaps you like the bitter cold of snow (I'm just getting hungry now). So, Christmas cake. My friends and I have an annual Christmas party since forever but this year was the first time a friend was invited that was allergic to nuts and chocolate. Christmas cake was a must so we tried a few places before here and they all weren't positive about what could've possibly touched the cake. For here, when asked, they were certain and very informative about the ingredients. We got the mango cake and the only little thing was the chocolate sign placed on top, which was no worries since it was only on the front half of the cake. When we had the cake, everyone loves it! There were little chucks of fresh mango within the cake and everything was so light/fluffy/moist! It's the kind of cake that I can eat an entire one of... Cake purchase success... but we couldn't just leave with only a cake? A tray full of sweet fried donuts, sausage buns, red bean bun, milk bread and walnut roll (wrapped away separate for parents)... and 2 orders of drinks, we were able to leave. I really love their savory breads, fluffy and delicious! As for the red bean bun and the milk bread, it was a little on the super sweet side but nothing a cup of tea can't fix to balance it up. Drinks were earl grey latte and a caramel macchiato. The earl grey was very well balanced of sweetness and tea flavor, perfect for the chilly weather. The caramel macchiato was delicious, not too sweet or milky. Final Thoughts: It's not the cheapest here but everything was definitely worth it. If anyone asks me recommendations on where to get a cake, this is the place I'd direct them too. Oh and as for a Christmas thingy, they gave up Lisa/Bart Simpsons USBs as a gift with the purchase of a cake. read more

I hate giving bad reviews especially when I do really like their cakes. However I was left really disappointed during the process of ordering a two-tiered cake for my son's birthday. First of all, they don't make the strawberry cloud beyond maybe 8" so I was left to decide which flavor to choose for the bottom, bigger layer. From reviews, I figured I couldn't go wrong with mango but really wanted to try it and then finalizing my decision. I had tried to drop in around noon the first time, since I also wanted to place the custom order in person. Unfortunately, they didn't have mango slices anymore. Which was fine, as I said I wanted to give the staff more details on my custom cake so it wasn't a wasted trip. Now I know TLJ doesn't really make custom custom cakes, my request was simply a different color to the cream for top layer and how to place macarons on top of this layer. I even showed the staff a photo and she came back after talking to the baker and showed me a lighter version of the color I had asked for. Which was fine. I then showed her a photo of how I would like the macarons to be placed, after she told me the baker couldn't do dollops because the top layer was too small? She gave me a regular receipt and I had asked for maybe an email receipt confirming the details which she said was not possible. Anyway I left thinking everything would be fine. A week later I tried calling them a day before I had planned to drop by again to try out a slice of the mango. I simply wanted to know if mango slices would be available the next day and what is the earliest time it would be available. You would think they're simple questions, but the staff seemed annoyed and kept telling me to try 11 or noon. I tried explaining to her that I dropped by noon one time and was told already sold out. Anyway after much hesitation, she ultimately went to check with someone else. This person told her to tell me that I could simply preorder this slice of mango cake to which the staff seemed surprised too. I thought it was their new feature, since I was able to order whole cakes online before. Anyway, got off phone and didn't see any option to order an individual slices of mango cake... Next day, dropped by a little before 11 and guess what, no more mango. I asked the staff one simple question, which was whether or not they sold mango that morning and they couldn't answer me?! Okay whatever going to just stick with the mango for being bottom layer, a completely wasted trip. Anyway went to pick up cake yesterday and lo and behold the top layer was an entirely different color! It wasn't even off by a shade or tone, it was a different color! Looked at the order form and it said the name of this color which idk why the staff put down. She had showed me a lighter version of this other color on her phone and we agreed that we didn't know what to name it. But I trusted that maybe she referenced this photo in the work phone. The macarons placement was completely wrong and looked sad. The girls helping me felt really bad for me but what could be done? This was less than an hour before the party. I hope someone is reading this and give better training to the staff. Anyway like I said, cakes itself were really good. read more

I finally got myself over to Tous Les Jours! I've had their cloud cake before at a friend's birthday party, but I always wanted to order one for a special occasion and also try their pastries. I ordered a welcome home cloud cake for my mom and they did not disappoint! It was beautifully decorated and the cake was delicious! I don't know how they get the whipped cream so perfectly smooth! There was not one blemish on their when we opened it! It truly was like a cloud! While I was there, I also bought a few pastries. Unfortunately, we forgot to take pictures of the pastries before we all dug into them! However, we got the milk bread, cream cornuts, creme brûlée cruffin, strawberry cream croissant, and a fruit pastry! They were amazing and definitely high quality. I was definitely hooked on the cronuts! Try those for sure! I only wish I had gotten a couple more! I can say this was a successful trip! I got a beautiful cake for my mom that was enjoyed by all and I got to sample various pastries that turned out to be very satisfying! The employees were very courteous and friendly and do a great job at packing up your items. They don't just throw everything together in a box in a way that the pastries can get smushed. Came by a few days ago to pick up a cake. Stood in a line behind a few others. The cashiers saw all of us standing there for 10 minutes, ignores us, then proceeds to take people on the side that just walked up. The lady in front said she was in line next and the cashier responded very rudely saying the line was to the side. If we were all standing in the wrong place, why didn't any of the 4 cashiers say anything?? Are we all to know that we weren't standing in the correct place? Why would we stand to the side blocking people trying to get their baked goods? wouldn't the natural placement of a queue be in the open in front of the registers where u can actually make eye contact with the cashiers? After we all shuffled to the side, the next cashier said they were open and a random person not in line walked up, because they didnt know there was an actual line. That poor customer got yelled at by the cashier! I picked up their special peach and fresh cream cake for $32. The cake was light, and not too sweet. There wasn't a lot of peach flavor. The peaches were only in the center of the cake. Some people only got slices on the edge and didnt know it was supposed to be peach. Love, love this place. I used to like Paris Baguette better than Tous Les Jours when I was in Korea, but everything is very delicious here - just the right amount of sweetness. Their bread and cakes are amazing. I would especially recommend any of their milk-chiffon cakes. Their coffee is great too. Their bingsoo (snowflake dessert) is the best in town (even better than the ones I've eaten in LA recently). The owner is very sweet. She gave us a great deal on our custom cakes, and suggested the best choices for us rather than try to sell us the most expensive cakes. The employees are always friendly and fast! read more

Cakes are super moist and delicious and not too sweet. Every cake I get for any occasion is a big hit and always gone, whereas when I get cakes at other places there's always leftovers. Had a random sweet craving one day and just decided to pop by Tous de Jours to try their selection of goodies. I picked up a slice of strawberry cloud cake and a blueberry cornet. It didn't take me long to finish both items and they were tasty. However, the piece of strawberry cloud cake is more on the lighter and less sweet side as I usually expect from cakes bought at Asian bakeries compared to buying cakes at like Safeway. I've tried a couple of products, and aside from one they've been pretty average. Overall I think they do really well with any sort of croissant-like pastry, but the breads I've tried have been just ok. Creme-Brulee Cruffin - 5/5 : If you got anything from here get this one, it's divine. It's a croissant-muffin with a vanilla creme/custard filling. The filling is not overly sweet and fills the cruffin to the brim so you get cream with every bite. The cruffin part is also amazing. Super buttery and flaky, slightly glazed too so it's mildly sweet. Milky Bread - 3.5/5 : Saw a lot of pictures of this and it looked interesting. It's just regular milk bread though - a little fluffy, slightly sweet. Might've been because I ate this after the cruffin, so it felt kinda lackluster. Still pretty good though, and really big and filling. Milk Cornet - 4/5 : They keep these chilled in a little refrigerator, so the milk cream inside stays nice and cold. The cream tasted pretty fresh, and because it was chilled it kept its texture well. The only downside is that because it was chilled the croissant-like cornet part was a little hard and chewy. Still had a nice glaze around it so it was delicious flavor wise, but the texture wasn't the best. Curry Croquette - 2.5/5 : I thought it was really nice that they kept these warm, but the texture really threw me off. The bread part was kinda spongy, not fluffy. The flavor of the filling was pretty good, so that was kinda disappointing. Overall pretty good, I'd come back to try the other stuff and the cakes! It was my first time going here and although most of the items were gone we were only looking for a birthday cake. It's a very cozy location and inside is quite roomy. Best bakery ever with great macaroon flavors. Prices are a bit pricey but I personally think it's worth it. The macaroons are $2.35 versus the typical $1.75-$2.00. I love the chocolate pastries super yummy worth every penny! What we ordered: Mocha cake: if you love Mocha you will definitely taste it and super fancy and beautiful presentation. Chai & green tea macaroons : absolutely delicious, I went outside my comfort zone with these flavors and it paid off. Man how I missed these guys. I used to live close to a Hmart in Massachusetts and this pastry shop always made the most beautiful cakes. This location is even better! I dropped in one afternoon in need of refueling of caffeine and of course could not help but be attracted to the fantastic scent of their bakery. They have some unique items here that I haven't seen anywhere else: Almond banana croissant for yours truly? Check. Chocolate croissant for hubbie? Check. At the front counter, I also spied some unique assortment of macron flavors - black sesame, peanut butter and jelly, green tea. I love how they blend in Asian ingredients into some of their pastry, in truly a fusion spirit. The almond banana croissant, so tasty! It was not just every minion's dream, but every human's dream! The beautiful flaky outside, responding to the bite with pieces that readily falls off with an almost inaudible crunch. Stopped by REI with a good friend of mine, and on the way out, we spotted Tous les Jours with its new grand opening sign. After walking in, we meandered through the rows and decided on the croquettes (both flavors - curry and pork/veggies), a cheesy donut ball (fried sugary donut ball filled with parmesan cheese and a pastry reminiscent of a slice of pizza. Lastly, we also decided to head to the fridge and grab a package of mini cream puffs. Everything was fresh, and I really enjoyed the warm selections compared to the prepackaged things. We especially loved the cheesy donut balls, and ended up ordering more of these. The croquettes were flavorful and filling. The cream puffs left much to be desired, and the pizza bread was underwhelming. All of the pastries were done well. I stopped by this cute shop yesterday... Had been craving Macarons in a big way! And, the shop that I'd previously visited was closed. Let me say, even though the Macarons were on the pricey side, the flavor makes up for that (but it's also the reason for the three stars). The raspberry and lemon flavors were my favorites. The texture of the merinque was a bit different than others I'd had, but didn't take anything away from the yumminess! Depending on the day of the week, I'll probably stop back in. Macaron craving... Although I don't like this place quite as much as Kee Wah Bakery, I'm going to give it four stars because they offer different types of items and very, very good coffee. Very good coffee = Illy -one extra star. In addition to the Asian style sweet breads and pastries, this place also offers french style desserts (ie macarons, tarts, cakes, petits fours etc). They also offer gelato and shaved ice combinations. So a bit more variety than Kee Wah. The buns at Kee Wah are definitely better though. In general, fresher (you can often find warm ones), bigger, tastier. We still enjoyed what we bought at this place: red bean donuts, snow pea pastry, walnut bread, pumpkin filled ball. You could tell that everything had been made fresh that day, even the packaged items. Big downside is the price. Definitely more expensive than Kee Wah. Macarons were really pricey (more than $2 a piece). May or may not try those in the future but for now the price kept me from it. The variety of items to try was a bit overwhelming. Definitely see ourselves coming back to try other things. read more

This was my first time coming here and I ordered a cappuccino and a "pumpkin donut" or something like that. The cappuccino was okay. A little better than Starbucks I would say, but not amazing. I was surprised that I really enjoyed the pumpkin filled donut though as I've tried Asian bakeries before and am usually not a big fan of their baked goods as they often have flavor combinations I'm not used to. All in all it has a great atmosphere and the cakes and baked goods looked beautiful. I am a huge fan of the kim chee croquette but be advise, eat it right away. Don't save it for later. Gets very soggy and oily. What I especially enjoy the most are the cakes - their cloud cake filled with fresh strawberries and home-made whip cream is simply divine. I especially like the packaging - each cake is placed in a well-designed cake box and they provide you with a cake cutter and free candles. On special occasions, an added gift is given. Came by this TLJ a few weeks ago. This was the only store I find with the new Honey products (during mid-Feb) and not the locations I also visited before. Bought a few of the new honey product pastries for over $15 and received the free "The Honey Storage Bag" which was really cute. The Honey Pastry Pie is really good after I heat it warm at home. Love the honey with nuts fillings. The Honey Pan Cake Bread is also good. The Milk Cream Cornet is pretty good and interesting. The cream texture is not too sweet and very creamy. They do have some special items different than other two stores, like the Florentines - cookies. Customer Service was excellent. Very nice, professional and friendly! read more

We tried two different styles of Asian donuts with red bean paste, a chesty sweet bread, and some macaroons. Everything we purchased was fresh and tasted good.
