We stopped by and saw the ads for ube coconut yogurt tea, got curious to try this. Verdict: it's OK. It's really sweet and the flavors all come through which is good but it's a bit too much. I think the yogurt flavor was a bit too overpowering, so the sourness doesn't work that well with ube and coconut 's rich and creaminess. Like sour cream. So not something I can reconcile when I want to enjoy the ube and coconut flavors. Interesting idea though! read more

Went on a Sunday afternoon - busier time than I usually go. Usually, I go towards the end of the day. Maybe that's why, but everything tasted a little better today than ever before! Plus there was a wider selection of different pastries. The staff were nicer today than my previous experience. But, the lady packed my pastry in bags inside out. I think she was trying to go fast, but it made me cringe. It just doesn't seem quite as sanitary as it should be. Also, they need to be a bit more careful with labeling. Some of the similar items are put next to each other, but they look the same on the outside. For example, I wanted some cream sober pastry (I love their cream!) and picked up two. Came home and saw that one was a red bean cream pastry (which was delicious, but I didn't want red beans). Chestnut pastry - this was like a little mini cake, caramelized on top, and filled with chopped chestnuts inside. Sooo good!! My new favorite! kimchi Croquette - they have all different flavors of croquettes, but this is pretty much a basic, and my favorite. Cream soboro - so my receipt says soboro, but it was more a cream pastry. Soboro is a bun with crusty, sweet outside. This one was more like just a regular cream pastry. red bean cream soboro - same as the cream soboro, but with the added red beans. ===== from previous review: Shrimp croquette - had peas. And not enough shrimp. Pass this next time. They're all the same price. Shoud've been my clue to not pick up the shrimp. They will cheap you out on the shrimp. Chicken croquette - better than the shrimp. But I think I would have just preferred the good old kimchi croquette or the veggie croquette. Coffee cream bread? - The coffee cream is yummy, and the bread isn't as crusty as I would have liked, but decent. But they have raisins inside, and I don't like raisins. Heaven on earth. The Hazelnut cream bread with its fluffy light filling infused with just the perfect hint of Nutella enclosed on a dough that's as soft as a pillow is - to die for! The same can be said for the strawberry and milk bread versions of this pastry, both are sublime. Try not to rush consuming it all- that would be heathen. My experience here was mediocre. The pastries are lined up in a self serve style. However, they are not kept warm. Customer service is the first impression about an establishment and I felt the customer service was subpar here. We were not greeted at all upon arrival and when ready to pay the person taking our order was not friendly at all. In fact, my spinach puff pastry was cold and I gently asked the person if it can be warmed up in ANY way (I was okay with even microwaving it for a few seconds), but he responded with no it's not possible. I'm thinking if you can't warm it up, then please have it ready to be served in some sort of warmer instead of serving cold puff pastries. It totally affected the way it tasted. I have visited this bakery many times and I have always enjoyed the variety of different cakes! I have tried a few different types of cakes including strawberry cloud, banana, mocha, earl grey, and green tea/strawberry. All flavors have been delicious, but the earl grey is the one cake that stands out for me! I have never had a cake that tastes like earl grey - it stands out as one that is unique and tastes just like I am drinking a cup of tea. I absolutely love it! The staff are very nice and willing to help, whether I go in for treats at the moment or if I am picking up a pre-ordered cake. This is an Asian style French bakery. You walk in and can grab a tray and tongs to select the pastries you want. I chose a milk bread, a cream filled pastry, and a kimchi croquette. The kimchi croquette was my least favorite, and the filling was cold which made it off putting. It would be a lot better heated up. Whenever I'm in the area I also go here for drinks and baked goods! Today was a special day so me and my family got a cake (earl grey latte flavor) to celebrate and it was very light and good! The whipped cream wasn't too sweet and the cake was very moist. I also got an iced ube latte and it was super refreshing, had the ube flavor and it didn't just taste like milk! The pastry display is beautiful and in our experience, delicious. We'll come back for more! However we deducted stars due to unfriendly staff. As first timers, we could've used a little direction. For any other newcomers; grab a tray or bag for pastries, serve yourself with tongs, and then approach the counter! Sounds simple. Not the most obvious M.O. walking in off the street. Also, a star is lost for really not good espresso drinks. My iced mocha was one of the worst I've had: incredibly watery with oddly little chocolate or espresso flavor. Came to Chicago for the New years! Was walking around Chinatown and saw this authentic french bakery. Always wanted to try mochi pancakes so I gave their Honey cheese mochi pancakes a shot. Love it! On the outside, it looks like it's been baked in cheddar cheese as you can see cheese on the outside of it. The texture's soft chewy with hint of cream cheese in it. It's definitely a must try! I love Tous Les Jours and since I was in the Glenview neighborhood, I picked up a Mother's Day cake for my mom. I typically go to the Skokie one but I noticed that the Glenview location is the mothership and therefore has a bigger selection of goodies. I got my mom the Peach Mousse cake since I've never seen it before and it was a hit! It was really good! So when Father's Day came around, I stopped by again to see if there was something new or different that I haven't tried and alas there wasn't. So I picked up the Mango Cloud cake because I knew it would be delicious. I did notice that the price points for Glenview was slightly cheaper than the Skokie location. Could be on the expensive side but it's so worth it! Have you tried baking? It takes a lot of work to make each of these bread so I don't mind paying that much at all! Ordered fresh cream fruit cake ahead of time for a birthday. I've had 2 different ones (at 2 different occasions)- one preordered on the phone, and one bought from cake stand. I liked the preordered one much better. The fresh cream tasted much more fresh & fluffy! It's one of my favorite place to get cakes for birthdays! I was immediately surprised by the volume of pastries~ overwhelming in a delightful way. First you take a tray and a pair of tongs. Then anything you would like to buy/try, you put on the tray. They also have pre packed items and macarons- they pack those for you. And a plethora of drink options. Mango juices, smoothies, & lots of coffee drinks. Anyone who know me or my reviews know I am a coffee addict and try coffee anywhere I go. Sadly, I can't have caffeine for a 24 hours period so I had to forgo the coffee. I will go back for sure. The pastries were almost as good as in France. The macarons have incredible flavor and a thick filling- I missed the crack when taking the first bite, but still very good. They have a small selection of tables to enjoy a treat or to work and sip an espresso. Go and enjoy a treat. One more thing! The cakes!! They are unique and well done. This place is the ONLY place I will be ordering cakes from. I've been to almost every other Korean bakery cafes and this place is definitely the place to go. I always 100% get compliments when I buy this cake because starting from the soft fluffy cream to the moist cake bread is amazing. I can't go back to any cakes. I've tried even the new Korean bakery on Milwaukee Ave, and it was a clear cut difference. I spoke with the owner a few weeks ago and she said they only use organic fruits too which may add to the freshness of their cakes. It's an easy operation to pick a tray, fill your tray with the items you like and pay up at the cashier. I've tried couple of their pastries and the tasted so good(except for Red bean donut...not the taste of my choice). This place is a hidden gem. Delicious pastries and cakes. The mango cloud cake is by far our favorite. I will say I went today and bought one of their chocolate party cakes and we are exceptionally disappointed with it. Chocolate cake is my favorite and I'm pretty easy to please but this is just terrible. The cake is beyond dry and tasteless. It's just a huge flop which really stands out bc this place is so amazing. (And it's a bummer bc their cakes aren't cheap). I really liked the mocha cake we got, nice and spongy and nice mocha flavor to it. I also got a buttered cake one of their chocolate flavors, for me it seemed dry compared to the mocha cake that I got. It was good but I really liked the mocha cake better.
