I hate saying anything bad, and I'm not trying to talk trash, just the truth…read more I joined in the hopes of have access to gym equipment but to be closer to home and avoid the yuckiness of the larger corporate gyms. My first problem: I could not get a hold of anyone. Ever. I tried calling four times. I left two voice mails. I emailed them. And I never got a reply. I actually got super annoyed the I tried contacting them for a month and no one got back to me so one day after work I just walked in. Equally annoying was one of owners feigning surprise saying "Oh, that's weird! We never got any messages!" So I join anyways, because it's basically the same price as 24Hour, but closer to home. And it seemed like it would be great. The facility is tiny but is NICE. But after a few times I realized the downfall in this as well...........I was hardly ever able to use any equipment because when ever I was there, they were using them with their personal training clients. I mean, that's the point of the gym, but .......why take non-personal training clients if they can't use the equipment? I was basically relegated to using the treadmill most of the time. So that was a bummer to realize. After a month, I realized I was not going to be able to work out at the level I wanted to, and decided to quit. The owners had both told me that they had a 30-day trial period to see if I liked it, and after that, they required a 30 day notice to quit. I called on the 31st day to quit. On the 31st day, and, I might add, in that time they closed for a vacation day one of those days. But anyways.........I called to say I as quitting (the same number on their website I'd tried to call and never gotten any call back) and they called me back IMMEDIATELY to say "Oh sorry you're leaving AND WE'RE CHARGING YOU $50 for your 30 days notice!" I called back to say "Hey......I quit on the 31st day......can you cut me some slack? You said you offered a 30-day trial period." And, of course, no return call. Overall, I feel like they kind of use clients like me to supplement their personal training clients. This gym should really be ONLY for their personal training because it's just not available enough for folks like me who just want to come in and work out a four or five days a week. And apparently they only return your phone calls to say "Hey, we are taking your money". Nice facility, if a bit small. But not worth it if you are serious about working out.

I took the strength endurance class, and loved it! What I like most about studios like Iron Roots is, the predetermined workouts: You bring your water, your energy, and they take the rest from there! Very efficient for those looking for a great workout on a time crunch (hour long training session). I will definitely be back... I believe they are still offering your first session for free, so there is no reason NOT to go and check them out!

Due to an injury I sustained I decided to pull out the crossfit lifestyle and take a break. I knew I wanted to take my training for the Spartan races to another level! After researching different gyms and trainers, I came across this young lady. Reading through her website I noticed a link she had for obstacle course training that she provides. As I scrolled further down her page and then... ta da!! She herself, has ran several Spartan races and has competed on American Ninja! Theirs nothing better than being trained by someone who has first hand knowledge of what you're trying to achieve. I was sold like someone selling me a churro at the Kings game! After reaching out to her she was very quick and timely in responding to my inquiry. Next thing I knew we had our first meet and greet set up. After meeting her, you can tell she's very passionate about what she does, and is very genuine and sweet. I am very happy to have joined the Shufit team! I'll be doing doing my workouts mostly on my own for awhile with a program she has created for me, but after meeting her and having her in my corner now, I know I'll be able dominate all my future races! Before I started training, Anna scheduled time to meet with me to begin the process of understanding my goals. During this intro meeting she outlined her style, pricing, and what she does as a trainer. It was very clear from that initial meeting that Anna was all about the training/fitness/outcome. Flash forward four month later and I'm beyond thrilled with my decision to train with her. In this short time I have gained strength, better balance, and a very strong foundation for future growth. During our training sessions we discuss form, technique, diet, and many other variables of a successful fitness regimen. I also started seeing a physical therapist for running-related issues and the PT has given me the same exercises Donté already had me doing to rehab. Donté knows his stuff and is able to challenge me in a healthy way without getting injured, and he helps plan workouts for the rest of my week as well to ensure I'm getting the recovery my body needs. It's hard for me to put into words how much Kennedy helped me. When I came into the gym, I could…read morebarely walk and I was in so much pain after herniating a disc and having back surgery (and giving birth at 45 years old). My prognosis was poor and I was told to expect a spinal fusion. But Kennedy took me from 0 to 100. I learned how to lift weights and really push myself and ....NOT GET HURT!! Little by little I gained strength and agility...now, I have never felt this good in my entire life and three years after back surgery, only because Kennedy trained me so well, I was able to downhill ski again.
