This was a great discovery! It's located on beautiful resort property near the bottom of ski lifts. After visiting their incredible Skybridge, we chose here for lunch. Stopped into the tavern for a quick bite to eat and drink after enjoying the sky bridge. Boyne feels like a resort as there are a few dining options and shopping. The tavern was very busy around 3pm on a Saturday in November. We got seats at the bar otherwise we would have had to wait. There was 1 bartender and they had an open-like grill at one end of the bar. Drinks were good, around $10 for a draft beer. Food was good too. Burger was a bit expensive at app. $25 but what do you expect for being on a resort and the convenience. It was tasty at least. Definitely a touristy area but makes a nice stop if you're enjoying the resort activities. read more

My sweetheart and I really enjoyed our meal here this September 2024. We arrived early, about 4:30 PM. The place was filling up and getting louder over the next hour. We had: the French dip, The Bad Barb (drink) Beet Carpaccio Salad with Salmon (which was excellent but sprinkled with too much salt. If I'd had more time, I'd have asked for it to be re-made. For dessert, I had the Banana Foster Creme Brûlée. It was good but the whipped cream was not real whipped cream. More like a Cool Whip product. Best restaurant at the Boyne Mountain Resort. Located right at the foot of the mountain steps away from the main ski lift this tavern of smack dab at the center of the fun. It's small but packs a pretty decent crown either belly up to the bar or at high and low top tables. There is a tv in a central location playing sports related programming and there is quite a buzz in the atmosphere with the usual level of barroom noise. The service is fast and friendly. The servers know the menu well and can make food and drink recommendations to your taste. The cocktails were strong and tasty and the menu has very decent bar fare and even some more fancy offerings. My group's absolute favorite appetizers were the honey siracha wings, the crab cakes and the spinach and artichoke dip. All were yummy! I can also say that the seafood pasta was top notch. If you are in the area, I do recommend stopping in. You will have a good time. read more

Let's get the bad out of the way, first. To start... server had an attitude. Never roll your eyes at the customer. I watched him make a face and roll his eyes when *gasp* heaven forbid he had to answer a question. Oh my goodness! The world must be ending for you, you poor thing. Second. I know its a resort, and prices are usually higher at a resort, but dang! Did you dip the food in gold as you walked by? Are the glasses made of platinum? I mean, the food was good, but it wasn't THAT good, you know what I mean? I almost had to call the police for highway robbery! You gave Ruths' Chris a run for their money on pricing for some sandwiches and a drink or two. Now, for the good. To start, I ordered a drink from the bar. It was served in decent time, had the necessary amount of alcohol, and was quite tasty. Being as expensive as they are, I only ordered one. (Here's a tip... stop at the liquor store in town and buy your own. Much cheaper.) The French Dip sandwich I ordered was defiantly well prepared. Soft bun, plenty of au jus, enough cheese, and tender beef. Served with chips. If you want fries or another upgrade like onion rings, it'll cost you $6 bucks, even though the menu says 5. The server won't tell you that, either. Other people in the party had the Reuban. They also enjoyed it as well... but again, be ready with the wallet. All in all, I enjoyed the meal, but I can tell you we left the resort to drive into town for further meals as it certainly wasn't worth panning for gold. read more

On our spring break ski trip to Boyne Mountain, our favorite spot to eat was easily Forty Acres Tavern. They are located slopeside at the base of the Hemlock lift. They had plenty of tables set up outside and the weather was ideal for this! Happy hour runs 4-6 everyday but Friday and Saturday, featuring $5 craft beers. I recommend Petoskey Brewing Everett's IPA. As far as food goes, their fried chicken sandwich was very good. It a large panko fried breast topped with provolone, coleslaw, spicy pickles, and lemon sriracha aioli on a brioche bun ($17). Their onion rings are also very good. I would also recommend the loaded grilled cheese, which actually has cheese grilled to the outside and inside of the sandwich. It is stuffed with aged cheddar, provolone, feta, applewood smoked bacon, caramelized onion, avocado, and tomato aioli on Texas toast ($16). Their sweet potato fries are also very good and go well with this sandwich. Our service was great. Prices are high, but as to be expected on the slopes. I stopped in here shortly after they opened and sat at the bar. The bartenders were nice, friendly and prompt. They offer a nice selection of warm cocktails and beer. The food menu like most ski places are expensive, but was able to find something that was doable. The grilled cheese was delicious and I would definitely recommend it again. Probably the best restaurant at the Boyne Resort. It's still overpriced as expected but the quality is higher than the rest. The staff was very friendly and I need to give a shout-out to the young host working that night. He was very helpful and working a busy night. The calamari was pretty good considering we are in northern Michigan at a tavern. It was large enough to share with our large table as well. I ordered the burger with onion rings and I enjoyed it. The table next to us complained that all of their burgers were over cooked, which made me nervous for mine to show up. To my surprise, it was cooked how I asked and I had no complaints. The onion rings definitely hit the spot as well. As I said above, my only complaint is that it's overpriced. My wife and I each had an entree and we shared calamari and we paid $75 after a 20% tip. We didn't order any drinks or dessert either. Seems way too steep for a tavern but you are on a resort. We wouldn't go out of our way to eat here again but it's convenient if you don't want to leave the property. read more

Our first stop the minute we arrived. Visited last year and spent 4 out of 5 nights sitting in the same spot-the bar by the grill. Love this place! So many places to eat at Boyne Mtn resort but we chose this for lunch because we could sit outside and the kids could run around while waiting for the food. The grilled artichoke dip came out piping hot and the bread seemed freshly baked. After the initial burn of my tongue I smartened up and let it sit for a minute. It was delicious and long after I was full I finished every last bite! My gyro salad was good but not great. The tzaziki sauce/dressing was pretty runny which was a little disappointing. Also the gyro meat which they said was lamb and beef, was on the dry side and not a whole lot on a $13 salad. read more

Every year we come up to boyne and we get this fried chicken sandwich because it sounds so good and every time we are so disappointed with how horrible it isthe chicken is 3x the size of the bun for 0 reason and it's just not good at all. 0/5 stars The burger was decent nothing special but you won't leave disappointed. The buffalo chicken dip was pretty good and the mozzarella sticks were ok. Overall it's probably a 2.5 star place but that chicken sandwich has gotta go. We truly had the best experience this evening at Forty Acres Tavern. Just steps away from the Clock Tower Resort within Boyne, Forty Acres has a unique craft menu that left us wanting more! We had really good service and simply loved the diverse menu and food. We started our meal with the Maple & Siracha chicken wings which were perfectly crisp with a nice balance of sweet and spicy. Next, we split the loaded grilled cheese and the brisket wrap. The grilled cheese was crusted in melted parmesan cheese and featured bacon, avocado and five cheeses. The brisket wrap included tender brisket, slaw, cheese, and granny smith apples. Both were fresh and unique and quickly our new favorites. Our server Ali was thorough in explaining the menu and various options and really friendly. She made the whole experience even better-- truly. My group of four put our name in for the three hour wait, and skied in the meantime, only to get a text just 55 minutes later letting us know we had ten minutes to be at the table. We had no courtesy text letting us know that our wait time had changed, which would be expected as this restaurant serves a 300 acre ski resort. As we sat, the server promptly came over for drink service. We then didn't see the server for another 10 minutes. Eventually we ordered food and patiently waited for it to come, which understandably took some time since they were busy. My last takeaways from Forty Acres are that while there is good food, the service is unwelcoming and seeming lacking in the attention to detail, including missing silverware, no napkins at the table, and the server whom forgot to bring a drink back after taking it for a refill without communication. I was personally handed two waters when I only had one hand free which caused a little spill. I was definitely bummed when I experienced this kind of service when visiting and restaurant of this price range. read more
