No wait staff, only walk-up service, the individual taking orders and payment was pleasant and cordial, the atmosphere is casual but dim-lit with shades down although it was late afternoon and sunlight wasn't an issue or a factor it appears clean and the service was OK, don't understand why the individual handing the orders had yell out if the order was paid for given he was standing there when I placed my order and paid. I had my order to go so I suspect that is why the fish and chips were tough not light and crispy, I had inquired if the onion rings were hand dipped (indicating they were from scratch) I was told yes and that they are the best buy was disappointed as I began to sample as I drove home, on the other hand the zucchini was good but the batter was a bit to thick. It's been a while since I've been here and after some recent reviews I was ready to try them again. Covid Prep: The restaurant is extremely clean and they had a great setup for how one goes about to pick up their order. I placed my order via door dash, arrived at the time my order was supposed to be ready and was greeted and directed to the station to pick up my order. I love a good authentic fish and chip place and generally the tartar sauce is key to a great fish and chip spot. I ordered a few dishes so I could get a bit of sampling of all items that I generally eats. The sampler gave me fish, shrimp, oysters and scallops and while the fish and shrimp were good the oysters were a bit greasy and the scallops a bit fishy for my liking. The theme at this spot that doesn't make me crave their fish and chips is the amount of breading that they use, it's quite heavy and I generally take a layer off to be able to enjoy the fish taste. The same can be said for the shrimp ...the dish itself looks great but you bite down into a lot of dough. There are parts of it where the ratio is just right and that is super yummy. The tartar sauce here is also unique in how it is make, it's not your classic white tartar sauce. I don't know what they add to it but it has a bit of a unique taste and it's good. I would love the option of a standard tartar sauce for a good ole classic fish and chip tray. read more

My wife & I randomly stopped at this restaurant, & decided to try the fried fish, prawns & chips (fries). The fish was good, the prawns were okay & unfortunately the fries were soggy. I would recommend asking for "extra crispy" if you prefer a fry with some crunch to it. I liked the tartar sauce, my husband not so much. Also, they only offer canned sodas & after we ordered, some other customers sat down with delicious looking teas & lemonades that were not on the menu. So... this place was a bit of a let down, however, I do want to talk about the good first. I ordered the scallops & chips, while my boyfriend got the fish & chips. The major killer for me was the portion size. It was so small, I legitimately asked my boyfriend if he spilled some of the food on the way up to our place. He assured me, he had not. The portion sizes are just that small. The food comes in a little tray paper tray and it was so empty that I could see the bottom of the tray through the fries and scallops. Very disappointing, especially, since we spent almost twenty bucks. The fries were sub-par, the handful that were in there. We were not given lemon for our food and my boyfriend had to ask for the tartar sauce, it was no automatically included for our meals. I was really bummed out, because those scallops and that sauce were just fantastic, but I don't think those two things really being enough to come back here and spend that type of money for so little food. After we finished our meal, we were talking about going out and getting more food somewhere else. It was not filling for us. He said he was the owner and it was "ok". Since he emptied the garbage onto the floor next to me while I was waiting for my food, I told him it was not "ok". We stopped over for lumpia and deep fried Oreos. Great place for a quick meal in the car or on the go. Coming in and placing a order was super easy especially since they accept Apple Pay. Contactless payments during these COVID times are preferred by customers so it was a relief that they offered this option here. My order was ready in less than 10 minutes. Since then, we've stopped here 4 more times on our way towards Stockton. By far the BEST PALABOK I've ever tasted. I'm Filipino and I know my food so you yelpers can trust my taste. This place is great after a night of drinking.. because everything is fried! And it's cheap eats. They do have some grilled fish and teriyaki options. I find their tempura batter a little on the heavy side, but like I said after a night of drinking, it might not be so bad. This is a family owned establishment so hours are limited. So if you do have a hangover, you're gonna have to wait till the lunch hour to get your grub on. As far as the service, everything is made to order so it will take time to get your food. The best Halo-halo ANYWHERE! Also recently tried a tray of lumpias for a party and it was a hit. They stayed crunchy. They were delicious, not cheap on the ingredients, they're also bigger than the typical shanghai lumpia I order, which is a plus. I really wanted to like this place. I always want to support local so here is my initial review and I'll try again as always and see if there's an update. We ordered from DoorDash. Food. And quickly and was hot and fresh!! The breading was a bit thicker than I'm used to but it tasted good. The pieces of fish were MASSIVE. I order 9 pieces not knowing this for the 2 of us. Oops. The problem is that the inside of the breading was mushy!! Not sure how since the inside was so crunchy. The fish was hard to find with all of the breading. Plus, there were NO lemons!!?? Who eats fish without lemon!? Is that normal around here and maybe I'm the odd one? The hush puppies were fantastic and we both enjoyed the fries but all 9 (or 8.5) remains pieces of fish went to the garbage since the inside was so mushy. When my tray of food arrived - three large pieces of fish and a smattering of fries - I was quickly brought back to earth. Everything overcooked, dry and tasteless. No amount of malt vinegar and salt could revive the fish and only extra malt vinegar to turn the fries soggy made them easily edible. I get it, I'm just off the freeway, miles from water so more fool me for expecting good fish and chips. That's not my issue... First time ordering from here so we ordered a variety. 1- Fish and chips: The fish (Alaskan Pollock) was very good. Large pieces. Nice thickness. Good classic batter. Not overly thick batter. Chips were just ok and to be fair we had this order delivered to us so fresh fries are always the best. These were a bit bland and dry. Tartar sauce was very good and there was plenty of vinegar. We would order again with out the fries. 2- Clams and chips: I really wanted to love these. The clams were heavy battered and overcooked. Dry. Bummer. Might try again. I want to like these! Lol 3- Teriyaki chicken: This was very good. Nice grilled/char taste. The sauce was really tasty. It was not drenched in sauce. The chicken was clean, no fatty bits.
