I love TJs... and this location is my favorite. Easy parking. I like the layout of the store. The employees are nice. They usually have the stuff I'm jonesing for and the stuff I need. I also frequent TJs Lafayette, Walnut Creek, and the other Concord location near Buchanan Field. Don't know why but this particular TJs is the most comfy cozy perfect one. They gave me free peppermint coffee once after Christmas and free daffodils in the spring. Shucks. That was really nice! read more

We love this store. They have the absolutely best prices on very excellent quality foods they carry. They carry a large selection, but not an unlimited selection. But who cares. The employees are very friendly, helpful and happy to work there. This says a great deal. I don't know of any grocery type store that is a better value. They make so much sense. They don't even charge for bags. Really. It says so much about them. It is absurd to go into a supermarket, spend a bunch of money and be charged 10 cents for a bag. What an insult. Trader Joe treats their customers with respect and throw the bags in for free to show their appreciation for your business. We love this kind of treatment. I love going to this store. All the employees have been very friendly, cheerful and helpful. I try to be mindful of not talking to them too long, as they make a lot of friends with many customers, while having a job to do. Many of the choices and prices are a lot better than Safeway, so I do most of my shopping here now. I love the sample foods and coffee in the back corner. I got new recipes besides being able to sample foods before purchasing them. The staff are always happy to talk about the products and recipes, provided they're not already doing five things. Sometimes I do some shopping and come back to them if I have questions about the samples. The flowers have great prices, so I can always afford to have some in my house. this is my favorite trader joe's. it's low key, not that busy, and staffed with nice friendly employees. i like the layout too as it's easy to find stuff. they sometimes run low on bread late in the day or on the weekends, but that happens at all the trader joe's. i also love the checkout signs at this trader joe's which look exactly like the trail head signs on mount diablo. they're so cool. what an awesome way to celebrate our wonderful mount diablo trails!! i have one complaint about trader joe's in general and that's their packaged fruits. a lot of these packages have rotten fruit in them, so i avoid all the ones that are boxed in the plastic. i wish they'd fix this problem. read more

I love this Trader Joe's! If you usually go to the one in Emeryville or El Cerrito, this TJ's is a welcomed change of pace! There's always parking, they always have my faves in stock, and best of all, the lines are short (I'm only talking on the weekdays, never been there on the weekends). The TJ's closest to my home, the El Cerrito store, is constantly packed no matter what time of day you go. In this one, I'm in and I'm out in 15 minutes or less. read more

Trader Joe's has been consistently raising their prices for over half of their most popular items for the past several weeks. Some items, including eggs, tortillas, and cheese have almost doubled. The only reason to shop here is their 2-buck chuck wines have remained at $1.99 per bottle. This is probably the only loss leader this overrated chain has not dramatically increased the cost. None ot the prepared foods are good, produce is shoddy, and the help mainly looks like theState Dept. of Rehab or SSI is subsidizing their employment. If you want drinkable wine for $2.00 a bottle, shop here. Otherwise, this chain should be boycotted in abundance by any prudent shopper with and ounce of taste buds. read more

This is a nice Trader Joes and most of the employees are nice and friendly. I have had the experience of having to endure the woman with the dreadlocks racing around the store, screeching in laughter. It's clear that she knows she is being loud and annoying and just doesn't care. Not how I want to spend my time shopping!! Other than that, it's a great place to shop! read more

My husband works at the Lafayette, CA location, so I will try to not be biased in this review... But, I've gotta say the location he works at has much better customer service than this one. The grocery store ambiance and quality of food itself are great, simply because Trader Joe's has an interesting variety of food (for individuals and smaller families, of course - this is not a bulk food chain by any means) and each store is relatively the same. It often seems less crowded at this location too. But, the customer service is lacking. Most of the times I've been there, no one approaches me about needing any help or simply says "how are you today, thanks for coming in!". Yesterday was probably my last time there. It was close to closing and I could tell that the younger employees had already clocked off in their minds - they were loud, obnoxious, rude, and neglectful of customers. I saw an empty cart and was certain that no one was using it, so I started to use it. Next thing I know, two of the younger female employees started saying loudly enough for me to hear "UGH DON'T YOU HATE IT WHEN CUSTOMERS TAKE YOUR SPOILAGE CART?!". I turned around and asked the girl if she wanted it back, which caused her to turn bright red - she said "oh no, it's all yours!". I walked away and could hear her snickering with her coworker about me. (Jesus, grow up - also, HOW do you still have a job while acting that way?!) When I was at the checkout, I was trying to ask two employees a question - they completely ignored me, were singing a song very loudly and obnoxiously, and I had to pretty much force my way into getting their attention. After that, the checkout kid was rude to me... He seemed annoyed that I interrupted his stupid little songfest with the other teenage-ish employee. I ended up bagging half my groceries myself because he was so slow and seemed beyond irritated with having to be there in the first place. Then, he said "have a good night" and started to ring up the person behind me. Um, I hadn't even paid yet - this kid didn't even notice that he rung me up for $75, didn't ask for payment, and was piling the next customer's stuff with mine. I could have left without paying, LOL. I pointed out to him that I hadn't paid yet and, rather than apologizing or joking about his mistake, he grumpily had me pay in silence. So freaking weird, because the other locations - Lafayette, especially - are soooo not like that! Customer service is a tenant of Trader Joe's law! I do most of my grocery shopping here. Whether I just want to pick up a few items, get a bunch of lunchables for work, or stock up for a couple of weeks, Trader Joe's usually has what I need. I like that TJ's carries lots of organic foods at decent prices. I especially like not having to worry about unwanted additives in my food (e.g. - corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, and what not) because TJ's doesn't stock food with unhealthy additives. read more

Close to where I live and I shop here a lot more than going to a conventional grocery store. Employees are helpful, friendly, and have cool personalities as well. A lot of great selection for food and I really trust the source of where their food comes from knowing that their products don't have those harmful ingredients that you'll find in the foods in grocery stores as it tailors towards my transition to a Paleo diet. The prices are great and I like that's it right to Peet's so I'll go grab coffee and then go shop at TJ's. The only knock I give is the customers who shop there kind of annoy me by blockading a spot where I need to get something or run their cart right into me (it has happened on a few occasions) but it doesn't get knocked a star since that's a customer issue and not a Trader Joe issue. I definitely feel the long term health benefits of shopping here than Safeway, Lucky's, or Nob Hill Foods (though I do try to make it farmers markets on weekends for different varieties of food) read more

This is the worst Trader Joe's!!! The worst people work here!!! That also includes the worst manager out of any Trader Joe's that I have ever been in to my whole entire life. So, the manager comes over to me today "Hi, I'm the manager, I heard that you were 86d from this store." She is a liar and that is a lie. Then she proceeds to tell me that she heard" I heard you said some inappropiate things over in the demo area." Again, she is wrong, and she is accusing me of something that I DID NOT DO. You want to know why she is the worst manager ever? She did NOT apologize to me, whatever your name is chick, you are the worst manager ever at any Trader Joe's. Plenty of parking, friendly staff, inexpensive and healthful food. I can't ever suggest getting produce at Trader Joe's. Concord Produce is right down the street and a dozen times tastier. However, for household staples this is the place to go. Their cheese is decent, they have bread and cereal without sugar, and a wealth of vegetarian options. Their nuts and dried fruits selection is excellent, and they have a good diversity of crackers and cookies as well. Everything you expect from TJs, and spacious to boot! read more

I was so impressed tonight. I was waiting in line and the lady in front of me, who was disabled, was trying to pay for her groceries, but didn't have enough money. The checker returned the money she gave him and took out of his own wallet and paid the whole amount due. His name was Spencer. You really don't see generosity like that anymore. Their Penne Pepperonata (penne pasta with red pepper cream sauce) is unbelievable yummy. Every time I served this food people would ask me for recipe and I almost wanted to pretend that I made it, lol, I recommend that everybody should try it, just microwave 4 min and you have the most yummy pasta for dinner. read more

We shop here all the time. Not matter how few items I go in for, I always go out with much more than I planned. The only peeve is that they periodically discontinue items that we liked a lot. Their pricing is very good. I'm always amazed at how much less the bill is at check out versus when we go to a more traditional super market. read more

This Trader Joe's is the best. The jasmine rice in the frozen food section is awesome. Three minutes in the microwave and it comes out with restaurant quality. I also appreciate the quality of their produce...the romaine lettuce is always fresh and the spinach is as well. The kambucha in the refrigerated section is cheaper than other places.
