Trader Joe's Costa Mesa is the Bomb! I love this secluded TJ's. It's never crowded, it's fully stocked, and has the easiest parking lot to drive in and out. Moreover, it's near Growers Direct - my favorite shop for veggies and fruits (it is so reasonable). The frugal, wise gal in me, loves these stores. read more

Moving to Costa Mesa has been the BEST decision that I have made in a long time.. I mean I have made tons of others but right now I am stoked that I am so close to a TJ's... I used to have to rive what seemed to be forever to get to the TJ's that was in the last city that I lived in..The location here convenient for me. The store itself is insanely large. They have a surplus of that tasty Sunflower Baguette like bread here... ... I love TJ's and the fact that it is not far from my home has inspired me to cook again! Maybe..... Being single has deemed for many nights out and about!! But, the idea to cook again is there.... Perhaps maybe.. For now the Hansen's diet Ginger Ale and the Mochi are tops!! read more

I have been putting off writing this review for a long time, as I generally would prefer to Yelp about and support the little guys (local vendors, markets, taco trucks), but I can no longer ignore a store that has saved me on so many different occasions. I present to you my homage to why Trader Joe's rocks my socks. A.) "Oh shoot! I forgot it's so-and-so's birthday!" A fun card, beautiful and inexpensive flowers (that surprisingly stay alive for a while) and some Belgium chocolates and beer will save the day! B.) "Seriously? I thought I was cooking dinner for four, and you sister invited 12?" Thank goodness the prices are inexpensive and the heat and serve meals taste like I've been cooking for hours. C.) "I love people, but sometimes being in a customer service position makes one want to forget that people exist." I can't stomach the "2-buck-chuck" vino, but I surely do love the selections of Chianti's, Sangiovese's and Pino Noir's that are under five bucks each. D.) "I'm feeling unhealthy, stinky and we are out of toilet paper." Gummy vitamins, amazing soaps, and toiletries to the rescue! I could wax poetic about this great store forever (did I mention that it is walking distance from my house? Win!), but I digress. If you have not already, I recommend that you stop by one in your neighborhood. It may not always a one stop shop if you're looking to prepare a homemade meal, but there is always a great selection and good prices, and the staff are generally very helpful and friendly. read more

I went to shopping there today , store is as always good but there was a guy named in my receipt called M. John and instead of minding his own business he asked a weird question . My T-shirt has printed a word called fresh and he asked me (woman )what does it mean ! Why he bothered about my T-shirt writings rather than doing his job as billing . Shop owners should teach him to do just his business instead of poking and asking weird questions to customer . I have heard good conversation like how is your day going and what's the plans and those are all normal but this one is not normal . read more

It's Trader Joe's. Everybody loves Trader Joe's. But I don't love THIS Trader Joe's. Maybe it's the employees gabbing at each other in the aisles, making it impossible to shop. Or maybe it's the cashier flirting with the guy who's already done while lines of people wait and wait. Or maybe it's the parking lot that feels like an obstacle course. In any case I'll stick to the Santa Ana one, seems much better run. read more

I would give this Trader Joe's 10 stars if I could. This is my neighborhood TJ's so maybe I'm partial, but it's a gem. I admit, this location doesn't have the best layout of all the other locations, but it does have a fantastic wine selection, free wine tasting, knowledgeable staff, and the friendliest people in Costa Mesa. Sure, due to the excellent wine and cheese selections, we tend to get a few more Newport Beach crazies than we're entirely comfortable with (yes I'd love to repeatedly slam my cart into their BMW's, Benz's, Land Rover's, etc. every time they decide that they need to be exactly where I am currently walking/driving in the parking lot), but our lovely store can't be held responsible for the sins of their clients. The staff here is amazing and the selection offered is worth tolerating the ridiculously dressed Newport crowd. read more

Trader Joe's is a great place to shop. The food is fresh and wonderful and the people are nice. I really like their dairy, lotin, wine (oh I love the wine), bread and veggies. The meat leaves a little to be desired though. Good thing, the Meat House is across the street. read more

This Trader Joe's location convinced me to join the cult following. If this Trader Joe's stocks it, I'll buy it here, even if it's cheaper elsewhere. The only downside to this location is the parking lot can be difficult to drive through, but that's mostly due to people not knowing how to stay on the right side or making the widest turn possible to enter/exit the lot. I couldn't ask for better customer service. The other day the cashier asked if I found everything okay. I let her know I was looking for something and couldn't find it. Three employees stopped what they were doing to run to the freezer section and get what I asked for. read more

Dear Trader Joes: I recently purchased Trader Joe's *50% less Salt Roasted & Salted Shelled Pistachios from your Costa Mesa, CA store #35. Though upon review, the price and quantity provided created enough value to encourage my purchase, I found that some of the shells are not properly split and therefore are impossible to crack and extract the nutty goodness of the pistachio. This has not only caused sheer frustration and a "pain in the hand" but has also caused me to question the actual consumable amount of product to be less than the posted 16 oz on the bag. As you may be well aware, this could be viewed by the local Federal Trade Commission department as false advertising. I do have a solution though: I am inclined to "turn a blind eye" to this obvious manipulation attempt to squeeze margins at the expense of consumers if I somehow had a Trader Joe's gift card worth at least $100 USD in the mailbox of the return address of this letter. Centrally located to where I live and I love all of the employees at this location. I do not know any by name or face, but everytime I am there people love to help and are very kowledgable about where things are and what I may be looking for even if I wasn't aware of it. Hahah. This is a larger store than some of the other ones that I have been in, and very clean. Parking lot is usually full, but somehow always manage to park up close. This Trader Joe's seems bigger than my old one. But it's set up really weird. The vegetables are in 2 separate areas. That's weird. Also, the workers just didn't seem as nice and friendly as they were up north. On a positive note, this TJ's has a much better parking lot. I la la la love trader joes. I never shopped here until I moved to the area about two years ago. The organic food there is amazing. The unique product selections are great and the fact not everything is processed or terrible for you like a standard market makes me keep coming back. They have the nicest employees too. Always so personable and go out of their way to strike up a conversation and see how your day is. Businesses are not always about the product, sure its great that they have healthy options, but so does Sprouts. Sometimes employees truly can make or break your business and this place has the best employees I have seen. read more

I love trader joes. Can always find organic foods for reasonable prices. I enjoy buying groceries here. When it is packed it is hard to move around inside, I always use a hand cart because a grocery cart it is like impossible to move around. The staff on the floor never offer help and I have been there well over 10 times. Also I have only had one friendly cashier. read more

I have been to many Trader Joe's stores throughout Orange County and I have to say this one is my favorite. Aside from the complimentary(!) wine tasting, this store always has the latest and greatest Trader Joe's products, and never seems to run out of the items I need. The store is spread out nicely so it doesn't get overcrowded and there is plenty of parking. read more

It definitely increases sales, I bought two bottles of wine and I wouldn't have bought any if it wasn't for the tasting. So much more spacious than the one in Westchester! I almost didn't know what to do with all the room to walk through the store. I am curious, though, if Trader Joe's stock their items differently...like for example their salsa roja and salsa tomatillo were no where to be found. We love Trader Joe's. They sell a pesto pasta spinach salad that is the BOMB baby!! Best salad available at TJ's.

If you are new to Trader Joe's, all the stores are almost identical with exceptions to local specials, produce etc etc etc. This is about Costa Mesa store, but I loved the West Hollywood and Studio City store as well. Remember that moment in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, when Cameron complains there is nothing happening and Ferris begins to show him there is always something happening. Rent the movie if you are too young or didn't get it. We take sooo much for granted, like a visit to TJ's on 17th when you walk in and they're cooking samples in the corner or there's wine & beer tasting in the back. We see it everyday and dam it :) we expect it as if we are entitled. We're not and we are very lucky to have Trader Joe's and the great people that work there. So, stop looking at the floor, look up and say Hi to everyone there, get a free bite, taste some wine or beer and thank your lucky stars you're not living in beautiful Hawaii where there isn't a Trader Joe's... that's another story.
