I came to this Trader Joe's this morning at 8:45 am to get my lunch for work later. I see a few people in line not in the store yet so I thought they were still doing capacity- no. As I walk closer to the entrance, the associate informs me the registers are down. Not a big deal to me since I still had some time to kill before I went to work down the street. Customers in line were coming and leaving. Some with horrible attitudes and no understanding at all- some even whispering saying the workers should pay for their gas since they had to drive all the way here. I stood my ground and stayed waiting. At 9:30am after waiting outside 45 minutes the associate asked if I had cash, which I did. So the manager let me in. I gave him my 2 items I needed for my lunch and he handed them right back to me and said "pay it forward". Thank you Eric. It pays off to be patient and kind to others. This will now be my go-to Trader Joe's! read more

The spacious parking lot makes it reason alone to visit here. Those crazy soccer moms and their OMG-I-can-totally-fit-in-this-COMPACT-spot (even though I really can't) SUV's can fight in the Pleasanton parking lot. I'm heading to cowboy town for my groceries. There's a TON of space and the spots are angled for convenience. Thank you for doing it right this time. Besides, it's less crowded and the staff are quite lovely. (Most employees at all Trader Joe's seem really nice though). Shopping here is quite a pleasant experience. Love it. read more

This was a nice Trader Joes. Did some shopping on a Sunday evening, as the sun started to creep down behind the mountains. Not too crowded, and parking was easy-peasy. The selection was good (standard TJs stuff), customers and staff friendly, and bathrooms clean. And today for lunch, I enjoyed my TJs bounty with breakfast-for-lunch: Dana G's Lunch Omelette: 1. Open TJs pre-trimmed asparagus package, cut the top of several stalks into 1 inch pieces, and sauté them with a little butter and potatoes that you chopped small. 2. If you'd remembered to buy garlic and onion, you would use those too, but you don't, so maybe next time. 3. Beat three little eggs that were gifted from your friend who has chickens, add salt and pepper and maybe a little milk. 4. Add eggs to preheated skillet. Move the egg around just enough, but not too much! When those eggs have settled, flip them over and add TJs manchego and cheddar cheeses, grated or diced. 5. Add diced tomato to the breakfast asparagus-potatoes and then 6. Put it all on your plate and enjoy with some OJ! read more

We love this store!!! Love TJ's items and I love the crew. There's always a wealth of great items waiting to jump into my cart and come home with me. There are *very* few items by TJ's that just don't live up to the hype in my head. There are items I love so much I buy some every time I go even if I haven't run out for fear of it being discontinued. (I'm looking into help for that). There are some items that are seasonal that I wish weren't, but it's probably best for my safety that they are seasonal. I love that they regularly have my favorite flowers - Gerber daisies - and for such a reasonable price. We have discovered many new great finds thanks to my daughter's beeline to the test kitchen. The cards are AWESOME and so affordable. I always buy cards to stash and send later. The crew is what makes it for me. Basically this TJ's is like Cheers. There are some things TJ's doesn't have that I need at the "regular old grocery store", but I always come here first. The crew is just awesome. My daughter always loves chatting with Kyle and seeing if she can help. Though he's busy, he always makes her feel important by talking to her and asking about what's new as he busily works. Brianna is the same way... always cheerful and chats. Megan is so chipper, she puts a smile on my face each time I talk to her. Rory, Abraham... so many of the gang just ROCK! This store has the most wonderful crew all around. I love getting the lowdown on new items and staff favorites. I think the crew is how this particular Trader Joe's sets itself apart from other locations. I used to go to the Pleasanton store regularly, but never received the same vibe. The Livermore-centric murals, and check out lines named after Livermore landmarks are a wonderful touch to make it so personal to our town. I like this store but sometimes they can be inconsistent with what they have in stock. Didn't see any sandwich rolls that they have had on other visits. Over all they have good options, the green beans and chocolate bars are my go to items here. read more

As a huge fan of TJ's in general I was excited when they first opened up a Livermore location. I had been going to the crowded store in Pleasanton for a few years now. I felt at first the Livermore location was pretty weak compared to the others I've been to. However, since I avoid the hell that is I-580 East during evening commute hours, the Livermore store is on my way home 'n I've grown to appreciate this store. Now for the most part, they have the same products except they always seem to be out of certain things (vegan chili, coconut milk, vegan enchiladas, vegan Gardenburgers, noticing a trend here?) so I still have to stop off in Pleasanton on occasion, though it's been better stocked recently. All the workers are courteous and friendly, except for the older dude that hassled me for returning stale chocolates that I had bought a few days earlier. Speaking of employee/customer relations... Does employee training begin with "you must comment on at least one item in the customer's cart"? They seriously do that @ every location. Since the closest Whole foods is in San-freaking-Ramon! TJ's is the only place I shop for groceries. I'm glad there's one in Livermore, even if it is a little rough around the edges. read more

How can you not love Trader Joe's?!?!? There is nothing to critique about this location so on to the good bits. - the trailmixes are fantastic. Temptation, Powerberries, and Sweet and Salty are some notable mentions. - the frozen food section and, particularly, the side dishes give my husband the impression that I'm the most perfect little wifey in all the land. I was looking for a TJs nearby since I happen to be in the area (in a desperate search for tp). When I saw 4 plus stars, which I had never seen for one before, I just had to check it out. Could it have been my high expectations, the set me up for a letdown? The aisle-lage (yeah, made that up) was pretty small, but I was pretty much over-looking that, since most aren't aisle-buff (should I stop?) like my go-to in Emeryville. And, yes, the stock was low, but this was the new lockdown retailer's reality. The kicker was when I went to check out and the bagger snapped at me for getting too close to her and not social-distancing. I missed the yellow feet-stickers on the floor apparently. But, really, I was shocked at her indignant reaction. It's not like I was coughing in her face at the same time. And even if I were, my N95 coverage would've very completely snuffed it. (No mask shaming please, it was leftover from the Lake County fire days.) A gentle reminder to step back might have been more customer service correct. Kind of like the super service I usually get from the TJs in my neighborhood. Right after she was done with me, she left her post, probably for her break. Maybe that was it. Who wants a dose of coronavirus before they take their precious 15? Anyway gonna to need to average this one down. So 1 star. read more

I love Trader Joes. Where else can you get a large selection of exotic and/or organic foods for such a great price. Given that it is a little more expensive than safeway, you really do get phenomenal quality in the foods here. I'm absolutely in love with their french berry lemonade and delicious salads. Not to mention the staff is super pleasant and always helpful. I've never had bad service here; Trader Joes has truly mastered a superior atmosphere of friendly customer service! :) read more

One of the best Trader Joe's stores that I've ever been to as far as selection and service the only thing I will go to say is that today when I was shopping for bell peppers a young lady with blond hair thigh high red socks and short black shorts had her ass 6 inches away from my face I'm not gonna be a hater she was beautiful but I do think she was dressed inappropriately for a grocery store she looked like she should've been working in a dive bar in San Francisco. Little too sleazy for my liking, but maybe that's your guy's strategy for customer retention. Great job regardless! read more

This Trader Joe's is very close to where I live so I'm here about once or twice a week. The parking lot is always about full, especially now that Mel's is open but I still haven't had issues finding a spot. One of the things I like about TJ's versus other stores is that the aisles are very wide so easy to to maneuver through. I wish there were more vegan options in the the frozen foods aisle though. Some of the meatless options still have milk and/or dairy in them and it's always disappointing to get excited over an item just to put it back. Maybe these items don't sell well at this store and I can check another TJ's nearby which will mean I'll frequent this one less if other stores have those options. I appreciate that the cashiers who have finished with other shoppers always seem to notice if there are people waiting in adjacent lines and check them out as quickly as possible. read more

My local TJ is in Castro Valley. Although it's on the way home from work, it's not the way home I like to take. I've also gone twice to pick up some ice cream sandwiches and they have been out so I decided to try the TJs near my work. After my initial attempts to find the store failed, a call to the hubby directed me to the doors (warning, google directions not safe for out-of-towners). This TJs is big and well laid out. Produce was fresh and many items were not in that horrible plastic. Many more soy-item options. I was really happy and will be back more often! read more

Alright, this place is being hugely downgraded. They still consistently leave expired products on their shelves. Upon purchasing two bags of pizza dough, I later found that one expired in 2012 and the other expired in 2011!!! WTF?!? It is 2013! Not only that, but it seems that their milk never lasts very long before it turns. Also, their alcohol selection sucks, and most of the hard liquor that they do carry (which you will find nowhere else) is cheap because it leads to nothing more than bad hangovers. I'm done with this store. Their frozen foods are all that I would ever venture to purchase again, and only with great trepidation. read more

Don't get me wrong . . . I love love love Trader Joes. My one star is not only for the Livermore location. It is for every Trader Joes that I have shopped. Once again, I love the food selection at Trader Joes and believe that when a new Trader Joes opens, it is not just a grocery store but a community service. Now, what drives me crazy is what seems to be a TJ policy that their checkers must make conversation. I don't mind a little chit-chat, but, when I am waiting in line and the checker is standing there with a can of beans in his hand, motionless except for his jaw, talking to whomever happens to be on the other side of the credit card swiper, I start to get a little pissed. That's all. If you can chat and check the items through quickly, no problem. But, I have yet to see that happen. I am not standing there because I need someone to chat me up. I just want to get in and get on with my life. OK!? Update: 08-18-12 Somebody over there must have got the message. The cashiers have been much better about keeping things moving. I had the pleasure of visiting this Trader Joe's location this past weekend on a trip back to California. Here are some observations I had about the whole experience: PARKING This TJ's is located in a strip mall, so parking is abundant right in front of the store. Access into/out of the strip mall is easy. AVAILABILITY OF PRODUCTS This location had everything I was looking for. I usually stock up on a lot of stuff since we don't have a Trader Joe's in Hawaii (please, PLEASE bring one over) and this location had everything I was looking for and then some. STAFF The staff was very friendly at this location. One guy overheard what I was looking for as I was talking out loud and led me to the correct location. Another talked with me for a few minutes about a question I had about a product, nothing forced, all pleasant. The cashier was also super friendly and provided pleasant conversation while she was checking us out. Thumbs up to all the workers here! CLEANLINESS The store was very neat and tidy, like all Trader Joe's locations. The shelves were stocked and the bathroom was clean. There was even a bench outside of the bathrooms which I used because believe it or not, there was a line for the guys'. read more

Yay! I found my new favorite TJ's! They know how to pack your groceries properly (unlike the one in Fremont), and there's plenty of parking (unlike the one in Pleasanton). Staff are pleasant and helpful. Store seems small, but it's well-stocked, has wide aisles, and isn't crowded. read more

I know I already reviewed the Trader Joe's in Pleasanton, but the other night I stopped by the new store in Livermore on my way home from work. WOW! I love it. Nice and big, parking is a million times better than Pleasanton. Everything is well merchandised, the sales staff is very attentive and friendly. When I asked a person stocking shelves if he had tried the dried mangosteens (my FAVORITE fruit, that you can't really find fresh outside of SE Asia), he opened a bag and offered me a taste. Pretty cool if you ask me. Now if I could just get them to open one in San Ramon. read more

Livermore is on the map! I got my first Fearless Flyer from Trader Joe's about a month ago and was stoked! I don't know why but even the "junk" food seems healthy at Trader Joe's! The new store is laid out great with wide aisles and lots of room for long lines. So much better than the one in Fremont which often seemed crowded even without people. Parking lot works too-lots of room! We waited to go until today due to the crowds. So glad to have access to their awesome selection of organics and different WINES. So relieved to have one nearby- no more trips to Pleasanton or Fremont just to complete my grocery shopping!;-) read more

I never really shopped at Trader Joe's until I moved to Livermore. Mainly because the closest one to Vallejo is Fairfield or across the bridge. Now, it's walking distance from where I live! I probably come in and shop up to 3 times a week! This is only because I buy a few things at a time and come back. What I love about this Trader Joe's is the quick turnaround on items. Yes, things can run out quickly, but don't you think that's a good thing? Knowing that most of the fresh items are...in fact...fresh?! The other thing I love about TJ's in general is their return/exchange policy. Something along the lines of, "If you don't like it, bring it back, no questions asked!" Because of this, I have been trying a BUNCH of new things, and everything so far I've liked! The only problem I had was with a bag of spinach that I just grabbed (didn't inspect it when I grabbed it) and when I got home, my SO noticed some nastiness inside, so we brought it in and exchanged it, no problem! I also love the samples. There have been quite a few times when I've tried something and ended up buying it because it was so good! Prime example was the frozen fish and the tartar sauce. We bought both, but I loved the tartar sauce because it's made with jalapeño, which gives it a nice kick! I also bought the orzo and rice pilaf, which they made with chicken, so I'll be trying that soon. Also, the staff is very friendly! You will be greeted at least a couple times and they always provide great service. Overall, I love coming here, and I don't mind it. I like being able to enter into the weekly raffle for bringing my own bags (I haven't won, yet!), and I love that it's so convenient! Everything we have/cook with is seriously from TJ's! HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!!!! Yay Livermore for letting Trader Joe's move into town!! What a sight for sore eyes! I was Jonesin' for Crispy Oatmeal cookies, Chicken with Wild rice lunches and their cornmeal pizza crust that I can add my own topping at home! The especially awesomest part....It was not crowded! I can twirl my shopping cart around without hitting anyone or anything in the aisles! Albiet there were people there but nothing like Ihave expierenced in the city! This is where I do the bulk of my grocery shopping - and I am soooooo sooooo glad I do. + They always offer to help you out to your car. Up until I had a baby I never took them up on it. But now - I gladly accept the help loading groceries while I buckle a carseat. + I like the friendly banter at the register. Call me weird - but interacting with other humans is becoming a lost art. + They always accept returns. I try new products and if it is downright awful - they will take it back no questions asked. + I once forgot to load a case of water on my cart but paid for it and didn't realize till I got home. I called up and just picked it up the next time. Great service and they really do trust their customers! My list of favorite items: - Vegan Orange Chicken - Frozen Rice - super convenient! - Frozen hashbrowns and morningstar sausage/bacon. - Boxed soups - Cornichons and other pickles at reasonable prices - Grapefruit juice. - Truffle mushroom flatbread - Beer - (Some of which you can mix and match a 6 pack!) - Thai Shrimp Gyoza - CHEESE - Bagged prewashed veggies - Cooked beets and lentils for quick meals! - Premade salads (although some of these can be super caloric!) - Many other things! read more

How can you not love TJ's? This location is large with a great selection and ample parking. I shop here weekly for turkey meatballs, chicken tikka masala, fresh basil, jalapeño and cilantro hummus, marina sauce, almonds...just to name a few. Their prices can't be beat! Great selection of wines, beer and liquor! Try the Cocobon wine and chocolate infused beer...amazing! Customer service is wonderful. Where else can you ask if something new is good and they open it for you to sample? And they make returns a snap. I had never returned food in my life until I bought an off tasting product from here and they exchanged it, no questions asked! I didn't rate five stars because I think their buyer underestimates way too often. There are certain seasonal products that they run out of repeatedly. And the thing with TJ's is....if they run out in the store, they are most likely out in the warehouse and then you have run out of luck. My sister in law lives in Long Beach and her store has these holiday items right up until Christmas. Our TJ's runs out of all of their holiday items before Halloween. I don't understand why they don't look at what the sold previously and increase that given demand. I've been told I'm not the only person looking for a particular item. But with that said, last Christmas I voiced this to them and they had a special shipment of the product sent to me absolutely free, so they completely made up for their error. Keeping my fingers crossed that holiday items will be more plentiful this season. I shop here every week so you know nothing has stopped me from shopping here. Went to this new location for the fifth time today. Love this store!!! I'm a big Trader Joe's fan, but am sooooooo happy that they finally opened another location in the Pleasanton/Livermore area. It's so wonderful to be able to find a parking place and actually be able to move around the store with my cart. Same great TJ prices. Some of my favorite TJ Products: fresh mango salsa whole wheat honey bread - it's so cheap too home-made flour tortillas (really hand made) Brown Jasmine rice in the freezer - takes like 3 mins to cook all their meat is fresh and so much cheaper than like Safeway maple turkey in deli fridge peach juice (bottled on juice aisle) - my 9 year old loves this canned dog food - my new dogs love it Everything is super fresh and they have great prices. read more

I can't really function without trader joe's food, which I know is only slightly pathetic. I just need the samples and new food items, I need people in hawaiian shirts chatting me up at the register ( but not taking too much time and totally knowing when the transaction is over- so is the conversation) and sending me happily on my way. I need fresh organic food, a beer and wine section with more selection, not to mention candy cane joe joes. In fact I just made one of their gingerbread houses. There's more to grocery shopping than buy one get one free and transfat clearance ten for 10$ nonsense. I'm a happier person when I grocery shop at Tj's and trust me that's good for the world. I completely agree that the Livermore Trader Joes is much nicer and convenient than the one in Pleasanton. That parking lot is obscene. I really like this Trader Joe's! Granted, their produce is pretty pathetic, but so are all TJ's and the vast, vast, VAST majority of grocery stores. (However I have a garden and grow much of my own produce and supplement with farmer market produce. So, I'm a little biased!) That said, I find the "crew members" to be super friendly and helpful. They also get you in and out asap. At least thats my experience. They have a nice selection of all kinds of lovely products to choose from! And they have beautiful flowers priced so cheaply sometimes how can you NOT buy them?!?!? I do most of my shopping here. read more

Love the chain, love this location. The prices are more than fair, the selection is great and the staff always friendly and helpful. As an added bonus this location has plenty of parking and is very convenient for those of us who live in Livermore. My wife and I used to go to the Pleasanton Trader Joe's which was also great with the exception of the parking which was inadequate. It was always a pain to get in and out of there. Having our own TJ's here in Livermore is one of the best things to happen locally in the past few years. read more

If you've been to a Trader Joe's, this sure is one. They're all pretty much the same. The one thing that stops me from shopping here fulltime is that they're masters at using packaging and air to make you feel like you're getting more than you are. Only use weight and/or volume. Never look at the size of the packaging. I remain a fan but they could correct a couple of things and make it spectacular. read more

I just love trader joe's. Here's a tip: in general, the fish is relatively cheap. It's frozen into packs of 2 or 3 fillets (perfect for those of us who live alone!) and of very good quality. I get tuna, salmon, mahi mahi...it's all been good! and i love that they sell sparkling water in glass containers. and they have an excellent selection of reasonably priced vitamins and supplements. and to top it all off, they have hard liquor, beer, and wine. it's amazing. don't be afraid of the 2 buck chuck. sometimes it is good, and if it is, buy a case, because it may not be good the next time around. it's all reasonably priced. amazing. read more

How is it that every Trader Joe's I go to always has the nicest workers? Other than that, there's really not much to say. Typical Trader Joe's experience. Decent items, okay prices (I steer clear of buying produce there though...). I've always liked their peanut butter filled pretzels. I'm bummed their dessert-disguised-as-cereal "Chocolate Decadence" is no longer being sold. That along with vanilla yogurt was the most incredible concoction ever!
