If you've been to a Trader Joe's, this sure is one. They're all pretty much the same. The one thing that stops me from shopping here fulltime is that they're masters at using packaging and air to make you feel like you're getting more than you are. Only use weight and/or volume. Never look at the size of the packaging. I remain a fan but they could correct a couple of things and make it spectacular. read more

I just love trader joe's. Here's a tip: in general, the fish is relatively cheap. It's frozen into packs of 2 or 3 fillets (perfect for those of us who live alone!) and of very good quality. I get tuna, salmon, mahi mahi...it's all been good! and i love that they sell sparkling water in glass containers. and they have an excellent selection of reasonably priced vitamins and supplements. and to top it all off, they have hard liquor, beer, and wine. it's amazing. don't be afraid of the 2 buck chuck. sometimes it is good, and if it is, buy a case, because it may not be good the next time around. it's all reasonably priced. amazing. read more

How is it that every Trader Joe's I go to always has the nicest workers? Other than that, there's really not much to say. Typical Trader Joe's experience. Decent items, okay prices (I steer clear of buying produce there though...). I've always liked their peanut butter filled pretzels. I'm bummed their dessert-disguised-as-cereal "Chocolate Decadence" is no longer being sold. That along with vanilla yogurt was the most incredible concoction ever! I am familiar with the German mother company "Aldi" and when I found out that Trader Joe's was opening in Livermore I was excited. First off, it is a nice place with very friendly service. The products offered are of a good quality compared to the price paid. A lot of the items are Trader Joe's brand and are much cheaper than their equivalents in other stores. Unfortunately the variety is not too big. It is exciting around Christmas time though, cause I can just go to a regular store and buy the stuff I am familiar with (Gemran Christmas specialties) instead of order them online and pay the shipping. Love this store. Cannot say enough good things about it. Convient, clean, super friendly staff. I have mobility issues, and usually shop on my scooter. Anything I need, or cant reach, there is a clerk, offering to help. The free coffee is great, along with the free tasting of their products. I know the items I buy there are fresh and wholesome. Crave Trader Joe's like an addict. You'll find the following items in our cart at every visit: cilantro & jalapeno hummus, whole wheat pita crackers, Maui (wowie) beef short ribs and bag of fresh greens. For dessert - dark chocolate covered mini pretzels, coffee ice cream, fresh fruit and a bottle of red wine to wash down all the food. Just joined the raffle this week for bringing our own reusable bag. Need to continue this in hopes of winning the $25 gift certificate. We enjoy coming here, staff is friendly and helpful. read more

Not only is Trader Joe's my favorite grocery store but this specific location is great. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly! I would always shop at my local TJs when living in San Diego and when I started shopping at the Livermore location I was pleased to see that the staff is often on the floor and available to help out customers if needed. Trader Joe's Reduced Guilt pita chips and bruschetta sauce are 2 of my favorite items there! Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that they always have a pretty selection of flowers! I love Trader Joe's. It's funny how most people who have never been assume it has Whole Food prices, because it most certainly does not. This location has a fairly big wine selection, compared to the one at Lake Merritt anyway. The staff is really friendly and helpful. This spot is definitely 5 stars. This TJ's is perfect. Perfect size, perfect location, perfect parking situation, and very friendly staff. I bought the boneless salmon and was so thrilled with the quality. They also always have two options of edemame, and i don't know if you know, but that stuff is so hard to find. I swear it's a diamond in the rough, so having TWO options makes me such a happy bean eater. For those who have kiddies or are hungry, they are usually sampling some sort of treat in the back of the store that is so tempting you can't say no - and therefore must purchase -- trick trick TJ! I love this trader joes! The staff here is helpful and friendly. It's strange to say but I enjoy grocery shopping here! It's always clean the bathrooms are clean which is a super bonus if you are like me and run errands in batches. The grocery store is always last and that's always the bathroom stop. There is a gluten free list in PDF format you can download off the website. They have Udis bagels and bread at good prices. There are a lot of gluten free items here but you really have to read every label because they sometimes say things are gluten free that have contamination warnings and they also don't label everything that is gluten free! I usually check the PDF for updates before I go. The staff usually has great opinions on the new products which I love. Plus if you don't like something you can bring it back and they actually care! They are also very nice to call if you are looking for something gluten free and are not sure about it. The best part is the prices! They have the best deals on everything. The pre packaged salads are super yummy too! Oh and gluten free gravy!!! read more

i love this store. All of the staff here are very helpful and friendly. They always have samples with coffee and fruit water in the back. Plus the store is very clean. Everybody thinks trader joes is healthy and therefore expensive. However, i find 90 % of their products are cheaper than any standard grocery store. I only go to other stores if tj's doesn't have it. Love it that I can travel, go to a TJ's, and find the quality service and products that I am accustomed to at home. The workers at this TJ's were no different. There are always plenty around asking if you need help, and they seem truly happy to help you! Love the sampling station at the back. The pumpkin pie tasting was very good. Produce is always fresh, and displays are always stocked and well-organized. Love getting to the checkout and not having to wait. Efficiently run store. Dependable food products. read more

Fresh vegetable, fruits, tasting yogurt and many variety you can buy for grocery. I loved to go trader joe. This was one of regular grocery market in my daily life. Went to many location. i too, along with multitudes, love Trader Joes. Today I purchased non fat Brie, made with milk. I want you to save your money in this one....unless you like tasteless mozzarella, with no spring, no string and no nothing in the taste department. it just sits there with no cheese fragrance and no resenblance of cheese, let alone Brie, cheese. Coming from CO and used to their local chain of Vitamin Cottage, I was slightly disappointed. Although TJ has a decent grocery, wine, and snack selection, they offer hardly anything when it comes to supplements or personal care items. I guess their focus is strictly grocery. If you're looking for a good selection of organic veggies and specialty items, this is the place to go. I usually go to get the organic veggies and some of their frozen items and end up with two grocery bags full! The store is clean. The staff is helpful, very friendly and knowledgeable. And unlike the Pleasanton store, there is ample and spacious parking. The Pleasanton store is good as well but the parking is terrible and cramped. The store is small and the aisles can get crowded during busy weekends but I actually like the size of the store. It's easier to find what I want and everything is logically laid out thru the store. I also love that TJ's encourages using recycle bags so if you have them, be sure to bring them. They also have a nice selection of TJ bags for purchase. read more

This store and all it's employee's are just the best. I can't thank them enough for taking curb side pickup for the groceries that I called in. I'm 73 with a number of health issues and this has been a blessing for me not to have to go in any store for necessities. I can't thank you all enough. Great location although my previous visit wasn't very nice. There was an employee restocking/organizing the produce section and I was looking at strawberries. There was mold on them so I let the employee know and she said she was just using it as a shelf filler. This makes no sense to me. Why would you put mold food on a shelf for people to purchase. She was aware of the mold but still left it on the shelf. She only took it off the shelf when I said something. Just make sure you check the expiration date and look for mold before you purchase. As always TJ's has the stuff I want and you cannot get it anywhere else. Above all the staff is always friendly and will answer any questions I have about any of their products that they sell. The best is their dessert wine that I cannot get enough of (cheap price too). Good place to shop if you really want to know what you are eating:) read more

OMG! OK, so I've admittedly been a bit down on ol' TJ's lately. I just feel like I end up spending a lot when I don't leave with that much. But anyway, when I went today, I noticed something new! They have named each of the checkout stands after a different Livermore "landmark." There is Carnegie Park, Railroad, The Flag ... and more! Plus, I was SOOOOO Friggin' Excited when I saw they have one for The Vine! I asked if it was representing the vineyards or the Vine Cinema and was told it's for the Vine Cinema! That is so awesome! Way to show some support for your local, independent movie theater, Trader Joe's!!!!! read more

I love this Trader Joes! The one in Pleasanton is a traffic nightmare and this one is usually pretty quiet. The staff are nice and the produce is fresh. I adore picking up some fresh salmon or preservative free sausage here. They have an excellent selection of cheeses and wines too. They have a good selection of organic items too! Shopping at Trader Joes I tend to get healthier items and spend less money too. This will be my main grocery store for now on! read more

Trader Joe's in Livermore is set up and designed very well. There is plenty of parking, and there is no problem finding a space, or trying to leave, the way there is at the Trader Joe's in Pleasanton. The grocery carts are small, but big enough, which makes them easily maneuverable. The store is immaculate. It is kept VERY clean. The people that work in the store, are helpful and friendly. There are many healthy selections to be made from the products offered in this store. The checker's are also friendly and efficient. For shopping in a grocery store, this is about as pleasant as the experience gets. If you have not been there yet, you really should try it. read more

Great selections of interesting foods in every category. The staff is friendly, even when I was there, lolly-gagging a few minutes after closing. time. There are some surprises with pricing such as the Anchor Steam Christmas beer which was less expensive than other chain supermarkets. One negative, which seems to be plaguing other stores and restaurants alike, are pets in the produce section and/or in the grocery carts. Although, against California State Code, and for good reason, this unclean act does occur. Owners are too obtuse and managers turn a blind eye. read more

Trader Joe is my secret second husband on the side!! Before I started shopping here, I just figured their stuff would be expensive (like Whole Foods), because of the specialty-store ambiance. I was pleasantly surprised to find that most products are actually CHEAPER than equivalent products from a mainstream grocery store - not to mention higher in quality. They don't have temporary "sales" that you have to wait for just to get a decent price, annoying "club cards", and all that b.s. I now do 90% of my grocery shopping here, only setting foot in one of the... other... stores for the occasional hard-to-find item. When I do shop elsewhere, I always leave in a grouchy mood because it's so inferior to TJ's! If you don't like to cook, this is a great place to find prepared meals that are reasonably healthy - for example, not sky-high in sodium like most packaged stuff. Sure, the other stores will stick something in a green box and label it "healthy", but if you read the label, it is full of refined low-fiber flour, high-fructose corn syrup, 50% of your daily allotment of sodium, etc. TJ is much more apt to use ingredients you would use in your own kitchen. Some of my favorites are the vegetable lasagna, red pesto farfalle, roasted vegetable burritos, orange chicken, and crustless quiches. Great, affordable beer & wine selection too! read more

However, I have a concern that the checker asked for my driver's license when I bought a bottle of wine, then punched some numbers into the computer. Why is this happening and does it happen at all TJ's? Trader Joes is a specialty grocery store where I find a lot of organic and other hard-to-find foods. I especially like their juice selection, and some of the Trader Joes brand frozen foods. The prices, surprisingly enough, are rather competitive, and sometimes things are cheaper than at other grocery stores. The customer service is great, if you need help finding something they will make suggestions, and they are always listening to feedback from customers. Once I asked for something at the register, and the guy said he would make sure it was in stock next time I shopped...and next time, it was! Another time I sampled one of their premade packaged foods and found it to be too spicy for my taste, and was able to return the second can (for cash!!) even though I didn't have a receipt. Almost everything you could want for fixing your basic meals, and more than you can imagine for special occasions. I shop here at least once a week. Everyone is friendly and we're on a first name basis. Feels like a down home neighborhood! I've tried more new concoctions than I can remember and several have made it to my "must have" list. At first I did not want to follow the Trader Joe's trend. My wife started going regularly, now, as a family we are addicted. Every time I get free coffee, and the team, like at all Trader Joe's is super friendly. The meat has been hit or miss on quality. My biggest compliant is that the guacamole kits have almost always had some rotten vegetables, we stopped getting them. read more
