This is the best trader Joes in Long Beach. The staff is always friendly and the shelves are always full.

The employees at this Trader Joe's location are the problem with this store! My entire family does NOT want to shop here! Just this morning, we drove into the Trader Joe's parking lot a few minutes before the store opened. There was a line of customers waiting to enter the store. Suddenly, a Trader Joe's employee walked right off the curb, in front of our car while we were driving! (She was a short, heavyset woman with dark hair, wearing jeans and a dark colored Trader Joe's shirt). This caused the driver to hit the brakes, even though we were only going about 5 miles per hour. This employee then turned around, stared us down, making rude looking faces at us and throwing her arms up into the air and waving them around while she was standing just inches from our car. She was obviously extremely angry, yet she was the one who walked off the curb without looking and proceeded to walk in front of our moving car! Her actions were total harassment! We felt that she targeted us even further due to our car (SUV) that was not the typical "Trader Joe's" clientele type of vehicle. Her aggressive attitude made us afraid to even enter the store. We parked and waited until the store opened and decided to leave and shop elsewhere. Why would we spend our good, hard earned money in a store like this where you can't even drive through the parking lot without being harassed through your windshield by an employee? I wish we had a dash cam to catch this interaction on film - it seriously looked like something you would have seen on an episode of customer wars! She's lucky I didn't get her name, because if I did, her name would have been posted here multiple times! You cannot make this stuff up! read more

Always love TJ's and this one was no different. Had to pick up cheese crackers and other charcuterie for a girls chat faster later that evening. TJ said everything we needed for a fantastic snack fest as well. Friendly staff. Easy access. Good parking. Clean store. read more

Truth be told, Trader Joe's confounds me. I really like their staff from floor stockers to check out. Everyone is polite, even the customers. Then why do I feel like I've just been let out of an amusement park ride when I leave the store? Dazzled by their own brands some of which are are pretty good, a bit unfamiliar with the other items that they stock, and unused to the wide aisles where customers, I think unintentionally, play bumper cars. Confuses (Confoozez was spellcheck contribution.) me what they emphasize. Grocery Outlet in pyjamas and chandeliers. Somehow I expected everything on my list to be available, but not the case. No miso paste, no shrimp paste, no Harry&David comice pears or Spam figgy pudding. But they did have the Kringle Cake which was #1 on my list and most their delicious chocolate milk and chocolate babka. An unusual shopping trip, a fun shopping trip. read more

This review is referring to my recent visit to the bixby knoll location...and let me add though I usually don't buy fruit from any trader joes for this matter but I was in urgent need of some fruit and was pressed for time. The fruit was absolutely horrific. I purchased blueberries (sour and soft), there is no way these blueberries should have been sold, grapes red & green pack (sour & puny), golden kiwi (xtra sour), strawberries (tough & sour) even the watermelon juice that I love from traders tasted from a bland (frozen all year) watermelon. Now it would appear I had a choice but the way the blueberries, strawberries and kiwi are packaged I couldn't have known before purchasing how poor the quality was however the puny grapes I was hoping to at least be sweet and no i did not taste first because i wanted to clean them b4 tasting. Ok so now I know the fruit is subpar but hey, i can make quick jars and use honey on them...the fruit was so sour not even the honey made a difference, not one iota. Oh and I purchased cherries lol...after eating about 15 of them not coming across one sweet one, I was so frustrated I threw them away. Thankfully, I now have some sweet cherries I purchased elsewhere Ralphs and Northgate (the ones from trader joes were not organic anyways). I am just disgusted in the way this company along with so many others with brand equity lacks the quality expected from their name alone. Meanwhile, I am reminded, do not go to trader joe's for fruit and reconsider my expectations based on its "name". read more

I don't even recall when was the last time I step my foot in a conventional grocery store, Like Ralph's, God forbid. TJ is practically part of my life and I can't imagine life without it. I especially like this particular location, since it's so ample and organized, which helps to avoid those bottle necks at busy times. Ready to eat foods and meals are a life saver for a busy person. I'm new to Trader Joe's shopping. I usually shop at Winco but I find the produce is better at TJ's so I don't mind making an extra stop on my shopping days. COVID-19 - Don't let the looong lines deter you, it goes by pretty fast and it's designed for social distancing. I need 6 feet people! Respect the red lines LOL. They even have a cute sign suggesting people to not shop if they're sick. The staff are wearing gloves at checkout and masks throughout the store. They don't really have the social distancing ground separators at checkout but most people do a great Job at respecting your space. There's no sanitizing after every customer. My go-to TJ items that I recommend are: *Flowers *Fruit *Licorice - Strawberry (it's so addicting) *I've been waiting to try to watermelon drink but it's not in season right now. *Chile Mango slices *I purchased vegan butter and vegan cream cheese (I'll keep you posted on these items. *Green Chili salsa *Oatmeal cookies *white chocolate oatmeal sticks (I can't think of what they're really called LOL) Junk, mostly junk food, but it's my business LOL. However, I'm trying vegan dairy products so I purchased a vegan butter and cream cheese and it's sooo delicious. I'll add a pic of the ones I tried. SYOY! read more

Honestly what can I say, it's the Trader Joe's we all know and love. The parking isn't ideal, it's a bit of a nightmare trying to find parking on the weekends, but I feel like the food makes it worth it. I don't buy my groceries here, this place is more of snack refilling station for me, though it's worth the trip even with the headache that the parking gives. read more

I've never been to a TJ's that I didn't love, including this one. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable. The selection is fantastic and prices are amazing. My favorites are the tomato basil hummus, the everything croissants, the wonderful cheese, wine, and beer selections, and the flowers. All for very reasonable prices. It's like a War zone trying to shop here, trying to grab items without running into their associates who are frantically trying to restock their items, llet alone Snobby cashiers that get offended for asking if you could have some bags. I know you hate your job, but when I was also a cashier and I knew how to politely Greet customers. RayRay is very rude! Scolding people for not bringing in their own bags! I saw the difference of how he greeted customers who brought their own bags. What bothered me the most is how he was roughly bagging the things i bought shoving it and throwing the bag towards me.. I felt so uncomfortable.. Nice store and not that crowded at about 9 am. They had everything i needed for my new place and close by. Parking didn't suck too bad.

I give this store 5 stars for it is one of our first choices to shop. However, we sat around dinner table yesterday evening, trying to figure out why Trader Joe's would take down authentic bottles of Jamaican ginger beer from their stores, with its characteristics ginger flavor, and re-stock their shelves with a sugary substitute in cans. The conclusion we reached is that we would not purchase one more can of the sugary stuff. Whoever thought we would not be able to discern the difference between ginger and sugar made a bad marketing decision. Too many of us miss the former formula, and ginger ale isn't a reasonable substitute. This time we're truly disappointed. read more

Today I went in and was taking pictures of the art work which is unique in each Trader Joe's location. I was making sure I didn't get any people and was asked by an employee to stop. She said I want allowed to take photos even if it was just of the art. I have never been told at any other Trader Joe's that I cannot take photos of the art. This Trader Joe's feels much smaller than others I've been too. In terms of selection, the store was very clean however I felt I hard time finding things I needed. The employees through out the store were very helpful they took me directly to whatever I was looking for. It was a Friday night and I expected it to be packed but it wasn't. There was virtually no wait. The cashier was friendly and engaged in small talk. Parking was easily accessible so that's always a plus. read more

Pros: + Ample parking + Friendly workers and great service + Great selection, from fresh food, vegetables, frozen foods to snacks, drinks, dry foods and cans, and home needs + Flowers and plants are always fresh and well-stocked + Samples are a plus! This store is of course convenient for me, but I also find it relatively larger than other stores I've been to up the hill or in nearby cities. This one works great and the items are fully stocked whenever I go. On weekdays, I find evening times much slower with lesser crowds for those who wish to avoid the lines. I just walked into the most heavenly Trader Joe's! I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. The store even has that "new car" scent! The labels are shiny and the place is immaculate. So spacious, 2 carts can pass each other without having to maneuver all awkwardly anymore. There's so much excitement in the air! Everyone's strolling around, trying to find where their favorite items are, but all look pleasantly happy doing it! The staff give off a sense of relief & satisfaction being in a bigger space as well. I was also stoked to see a much bigger parking lot than the previous location! No more parking on the streets for me! They were even giving out leis and nice, reusable bags on their opening day. It's slightly closer to my home than the previous location, which means I'll be coming twice a week now! I heart TJ's!! read more

The newest Trader Joe's has taken over a portion of the old Ralph's, giving it a larger shopping space and larger parking lot than the average TJ's (most notably larger than the corner location on Atlantic which it had replaced). You'll find all the standard TJ's goodies here, with lots of vegan and vegetarian options. This store is fresh and clean and set up a little differently than the old location, but it's still easy to find everything. Bigger store equals more options, right? Located next to Pet Food Express with a gym coming soon. Parking is a little full right now because of the newness of the location, but is still much better than the prior location. Parking tip: don't forget about the parking behind 7-Eleven on the right side of the entrance. read more

I've been frequenting this Trader Joe's for years, even before they moved to this location (when they were on Atlantic Ave). I have been shopping here twice a week for about a decade since I work nearby. Never have I ever been treated so rudely like today. I understand the anxiety regarding the virus. However, it doesn't mean all Asians carry the virus. Also, the virus doesn't discriminate your race. When the cashier saw me, she pulled her sleeves down and made sure to touch my items only with her sleeves. Now, she did NOT do so with the customers in front of me or behind me. Also, she proceeded to bring out the hand sanitizer and profusely pump it in front of me only after scanning my food items. Had she done this as a routine, I would understand. However, being unabashedly discriminatory is upsetting. Even after this virus pandemic settles, I'll shop elsewhere. Thanks for showing your true colors. read more

It's my second day in a row I come to this Trader Joe's to get my salads and they don't have them. I asked and all they say is "yeah they run out early". I work long hours. So people who work all day don't get to have salad? That's crazy. read more

By far my favorite Trader Joe's. Why? Because there staff members or "crew" members go above and beyond for customers. There is always someone to help you. I will have to give this store five stars because I can't find any reason not to. This is my first time in any trader Joe's and I was blown away by my experience, the prices that I saw took me by surprise because I expected trader Joe's to be kind of high on it's prices, also the size of the store was very warm the staff was very friendly and informative. Trader Joe's has free samples of chocolate, and coffee, they have a variety of wine ranging from the two Buck Chuck special up to some very fine wines which range in price. Trader Joe's really got my attention and earned a new customer in me, I will be frequenting trader Joe's for various items that I found for reasonable prices and also items that are hard to find in other stores. I highly recommend trader Joe's for the experience, the pricing, the brand, the quality of service, and also a quality of life that is promoted there. read more
