I had heat prostration while driving my car from Oakland to Monterey after my car's catalytic convertor had been stolen in Oakland and I had been given a ride to Oakland to pick up the repaired car. I was driving unsafely and needed to pull off the freeway. All I could think of was getting to Morgan Hill TJs where maybe I could recover in the air conditioning for a while. I was right and more so. The staff was so helpful and supportive. While I waited for my husband to come get me, Heather, Lu, Helen and a number of other staff found me a chair, gave me water, checked on me frequently, would have called health services but I was recovering well and chose not to have them do that. I was and am so impressed with their caring and concern. Thanks to them, I recovered and was able to pick my car up the next morning. I am so so grateful! read more

Just amazing! I wasn't that familiar with the whole TJ's thing, and in fact had never even been inside one up until about a year ago. My family & friends would always tell me stuff about this place, but I didn't realize how amazing it really was until I got to see it myself. First of all, the "amazing" part is that I was expecting something else, maybe like a whole foods or high end specialty grocer like Ludardi's. I have no idea. What really took me by surprise was the sheer number of specialty items you will NOT find in a typical grocery store. We are talking about QUALITY stuff. that you absolutely MUST try, and looks VERY Delicious! Even more of a shock was the prices, ad some items were not only reasonable, but sometimes a downright bargain. For example. TJ's is famous for their own house brand of wines called "Charles Shaw", or by the nickname "Two Buck Chuck". These are FANTASTIC bottles of wine that cost a mere $1.99 ! I'm not kidding. The first time I saw these, I thought it was some cheap "reject" wine. Oh, no! I've since tried the Cabernet, Pinot, Zinn, and a few others. I was beyond impressed, in fact. I'm definitely no wine snob, and in fact don't know that much about wine. I just know what type I like given certain occasions. I used to buy bottles of red cabs at Costco or Walmart for FAR MORE, at least 5-10$ per bottle.... After trying the Two Buck Chucks, I'm a believer, and hooked. There is no way going to buy my wine anywhere else. Aside from the great wine selection, I should mention CHEESES! I LOVE CHEESE, and we are talking about a significant selection of different types, imports, specialty craft selections. and many many more you will NEVER find im ANY OTHER store. In fact. much of the specialty products TJ's carry are exclusive to Trader Joe's and only sold there. Just browsing the aisles is a huge treat, and to be truthful. I really don't like shopping much. This store is one of the very few exceptions. It's a very special place, and the Morgan Hill store seems well stocked and the employees go out of their way to help you find what you're looking for. Forget grocery stores, forget Walmart, this place is in a whole other league. You really can't compare it to anything else. I don't give out 5-star reviews willingly, and if you look at my profile you will see that's true. (@ the Morgan Hill location) Yesterday (March 9th, 2019) I went to get some "2 buck chuck" AND they ALMOST never have the Pinot Grigio. UGH!. Anyway, I found it very unprofessional that every corner or isle I went down there were employees standing in the way gossiping. I kept telling them "Excuse me" so I could get an item. Two girls didn't even move for me. It's different if they are talking about work, but, they weren't keeping their voices down. Maybe the manager or "Captain" needs to pay attention more. read more

I haven't been in here since covid. Gone are the days of the happy employees. I was so excited to be in Morgan hill today & get to shop here. I was not greeted, I was in the employees way while trying to shop. I approached the register & was met with you have to stand over there while I check your groceries. Fair enough, but again not even a greeting. I can't see him ringing me up, so I have no idea if I'm being charged correctly. And finally not a bye, thank you, or a come again. Customer service isn't quite the best. I guess it all depends on when you go. During covid times the customer service has gone out of the window. Before, they would greet you, smile and say hello, Those people thinking, Uh everyone is wearing a mask, you cant see a smile. Yes, you can. It's the creases by the eyes you can tell if someone is smiling or grumpy. Anyways, so you go on your way following the little arrows. Before, they would open more registers when there is a line of a few customers. I have been there 3 times since all this covid crap started and each time has been the same. One time there was 4 people in front of me, another was 6, last time was 3. But last time I swear I had the slowest checker in the world. She literally took 26 minutes to check the 3 people in front of me out. She would scan the items and the guy would bag them. I brought in my own bags, and she said we weren't allowed to use our own bags. I said, "What, really? Literally every single other store lets us bring our own bags, we just have to bag ourselves." She said, "No, our store doesn't allow it. There is a table outside you can bag your things." But yet I had about 20 items, couldn't possibly carry them all outside. I asked if I could get the basket back so I can bag my stuff outside. So I place my stuff in a basket, go outside, literally no tables anywhere outside. So I put my basket in a cart to bag my stuff. I love Trader Joe's. We did a short trip to Yosemite and I read in reviews that restaurants at Yosemite is not good and expensive. I also had my two dogs with me so I decided to do a quick stop at Trader Joe's and buy meals I can easily put together at Yosemite. We bought: Their soup dumplings. So good. Easy. First meal that day. Lots of fruits and veggies and hummus and dips. All delicious. We bought chocolates and snacks. We also bought their frozen chicken tikka lunch. Yum! Portion was little small but flavors were so good. Their French Onion Soup in the freezer section was so good. After hiking all day, we had a bowl of soup with their baguette. We bought salami, cheeses, baguettes, spinach dip. Everything was delicious. I love Trader Joe's. Great selections. Great Price. Clean. read more

Always finding more than I need, because everything is so good! I usually go in to pick up fresh English peas, Thai yellow curry sauce, and Garlic naan. But, tasting samples always leads to over shopping. I love the frozen items: fish korma and butter chicken. The new product "Ginger Shot," I really love. We used to get the frozen orange chicken, but it got too spicy for the kids. The staff is always happy and helpful. An absolute joy to stop in whenever I can. read more

One of the better Trader Joe's I've been to. Trader Joe's is my favorite grocery store and they have everything I love, and this one is probably the most well-stocked Trader Joe's I've ever been to. They had absolutely everything I was looking for in abundance and I bought A LOT of stuff and I estimated it would cost me under 25 dollars, and it cost me 24! I was deeply disappointed to see this man at the front door of Trader Joe's Morgan Hill spitting at the handles of the rolling baskets. These baskets are out front and he was the attendant. I quickly informed the Manager Stephanie and she acted as if she didn't care. I asked her what was his name? and she told me the man's name was Donny. This was my most horrible grocery shopping experience. I feel they are both spreading the Coronavirus. I feel sorry for anyone who shops there. There was another male employee that was restocking packs of Salad and putting them in the front and not rotating the older ones from the back of the shelves. Several of their packs of nuts and products are often stale. I feel sorry for anyone who shops at Trader Joe's Morgan Hill, CA I have grocery shopped at Lucky's, Nob Hill, Safeway, and Sprouts. Each store has an attendant out front greeting customers and maintaining the sanitized rolling baskets. I always loved going into Trader Joe's! It was always a fun experience or at least pleasant. I understand the COVID 19 has become our reality, so changes had to be made as a result. Their products are still great. But today I encountered a very rude young gentleman at the check stand. When I arrived, he rudely told me told me to stand in that box, not friendly, impersonal the whole time etc... after I payed my money and everything was bagged, a girl appears and I had difficulty hearing what she said, I thought she asked to see my card for the alcohol purchase, I brought it out nicely, he rudely said NO! She did not she's asking if you want a cart! I felt humiliated and hurt that moment. I understand that there's changes now that are not pleasant. But if your in service you still need to be courteous to customers!! Whoever he was, he sounds to me like he's on some power trip!! read more

My favorite store!!! They always have fun new things to try at great prices. Their prices really are comparable if not cheaper, than a lot of local stores. Their "cheerio" flavors (reg and honey nut) my daugter likes more than than "real" ones. They have great fresh breads, cheeses, etc. I don't buy my meat from there, a little too outta my price range and I love the old time feel of Rocca's. They have a ton of organic and "free range" stuff, tons of neat ingredients that most people haven't heard of till' the Food Network brought them to light (greek yogurt, Cremfresh {I know that is spelled wrong!}). Look at their wall when you come inside, there is a price comparison of things that are there that you can buy at another local store, you save I think over half!!!! Can't beat the chocolates above the freezer section, they always have something neat dipped in chocolate. Where else could you get DARK chocolate dipped Espresso beans for $3.99 for a HUGE tub? They are my favorite. Try the Chicken or Beef Flautas (not the hand rolled ones, I haven't had those) for something like $3.99 for 12, they rock! I could go on and on about all the things I love. Of all the stores I shop Trader Joe's consistently has the best produce. That's important to me. No rotten apples here. TJ also has the best selection of fine cheese and charcuterie in town. Try their organic Black Forest ham. I shop TJs for a friend in SJ who can't go in stores. His list has things I don't buy, so I asked for help finding things and an associate cheerfully showed me where to find everything which made subsequent shopping for my friend so much easier. TJs is a real asset to our town. I love how the shelves are labeled with big lettering and the seasonal specialties are on display. The store is clean and the aisles are wide enough. I believe they are doing a great job keeping everyone safe. My first choice for in town shopping. read more

Loved this place. Nicholas was very helpful; he showed me where some items I needed could be found. He also rang up my purchases. If you've never been to a Trader Joe's they are pretty small compared to a traditional grocery store, but they have a good variety of unique foods to try. Who doesn't loooovvvveeee Trader Joe's? I remember signing the petition to bring TJ's to MH. I was ecstatic when I heard on the radio years ago that they were coming to us. Store: Always fully stocked with awesome and fresh goods. I always leave this store with more than what I came for. Prices: Decent probably much cheaper than Whole Foods. You can expect to pay a little more for hard to find things but for the most part it is inexpensive. Service: there's always someone there to help you find things if you need it. While I love Trader Joe's and the specialty food items that they carry, they have lost a star because they stopped carrying the olives that we loved and have never carried the butternut squash ravioli that everybody swears up and down that they have. We also aren't fans of their bread, as most everything we've tried has been very, very dry. They sure have cute reusable shopping bags, though! Great selection of deli meats and cheeses, coffee and teas, and other beverages. Good prices on cereal, but overpriced on meat and veggies. Yes, I know it's organic, but I can get it for less at Nob Hill and it won't be encased in scads of plastic--thus negating any carbon footprint shrinkage I'd get by buying organic in the first place. But really, any place that offers free coffee samples with a tray of cream and sugar nearby gets a pass from me for just about anything. read more

I love this Trader Joe's. Great location, right off the freeway. Clean facility, everything looks so organized and fully stocked. Friendly staff!! They are always smiling and greeting you (I've never had a bad experience here). Last time I came in, I was the next person to get checked out, but a staff member opened up a register just to help me out. He was extremely friendly and lively. We need more people like him in this world!!! I love shopping at Trader Joe's for their dried fruit, banana chips, and assorted nuts (especially the big bag of nuts that come in individual packages). Their produce section is also great. For example, you can find $0.19 for a banana and you'll always find fresh fruit that is in season. read more

The negative reviews for this store make me laugh harder than seeing someone slip and slide down the lane at bowling. I don't think I have ever met a store's team with more patience, politeness or energy. They're always quick to recommend something if they see you staring at a couple of options. Someone is always available to talk shop about the wines or other liquor. If you're a regular, they are always saying hi and smiling. I know they are supposed to smile anyway, but they always seem to mean it. My toddler loves all of the nice ladies and he even says "Trader Joe's" whenever we drive by. Just an all around great store... even though they stopped carrying my honey mustard pretzels... Oh well. But about the "bad people" who work here... #1 - You shouldn't use more bags than is necessary and reusable totes are the way to go for portability and are more convenient in general. They even have insulation. #2 - If you're some religious nut that needs specific everything and don't like today's fashions, then go to whole foods and get your stuff with your fellow hippy kinsmen. Not to mention the cashiers and Whole Foods are about as crazily dressed as they come. Don't bitch and whine that a small niche store doesn't have everything that a corporate giant has in its mall-sized anchor location store, you make yourself sound silly. #3 - There are a few workers that seem to not really interest themselves in talking excessively with the customers, but I've never thought I was let down or offended. Big hint there is that you're projecting a bit much and need to relax. :-) To those who try to say Joe's competes with Whole Foods... think more before you speak. They are completely different and I'll pay what I pay at Joe's to stay away from smelly hippies and the weird cashiers and Whole Foods. Go Joe's! read more

Well stocked, clean, great service, not too crowded, what else is there to say. In general I love Trader Joe's because: 1. My grocery bill is always smaller than at Safeway, Nobhill and even Walmart. 2. I can buy reasonably priced organic food. 3. The meat and produce is fresh (Walmart produce seems to go bad on the drive home!) 4. Trader Joe's brand foods (for the most part) does not contain MSG, high-fructose corn syrup, trans fats and other frankenfood ingredients. I enjoy not having to read every single label. read more

There are lots of delicious vegetarian things to purchase, and they carry awesome dog treats. The prices on most things are very reasonable.
