Best TJ store ever. Staff are always available on hand and with a smile. Lines can be long but no where near as long as any other TJs (ahem - Fremont but no fault to them) Plenty of times I've requested assistance and they have always been super friendly and willing to help. 9 cases of beer loaded onto a handy cart, checking open stock availability for popular items, etc. TJ team made my evening - I was inquiring about a baked good and they absolutely helped me out with no issue or hesitation. I live in San Jose, but I often drive to the Morgan Hill TJs to shop. It is a few more miles, but it actually takes about the same travel time as going to the Almaden store for me. This store is much nicer. Parking is easy, and it never seems to be crowded. It is not as hectic as some other TJs I've been to. The Almaden store is close to Costco...enough said. Some weeks ago, I was in the store buying some specific wine. There were only 3 bottles left, so I asked the "commander" (I guess they don't have managers) if they were getting more. He ordered me a case, right then and there. When it came in, they put it aside with my name on it. Nice service. I like just about everything about Trader Joe's, however I do find the produce is overpackaged in some cases. Perhaps they can cut back on the plastic and sell more bulk. read more

Great prices. Great staff. Good location with a standalone building and their own parking lot. Always enjoy when I shop there, and even the "busy" times are nothing compared to Safeway or nob hill. This is the first Trader Joes I ever went to I guess there was never really a reason for me to go but wow I like this place. I usually am buying food in bulk and this is not something you can do but although I am usually getting groceries at Costco or Safeway it's nice to come by here as well. They have a lot of organic and free range stuff and a lot of things you can use to cook with that you might not have thought of. These guys are the kings of wine as well. They have a ton of cheap wine and if thats your thing, you'll be sure to find something you like. I think the beer is all room temp though so it's not a good idea for a 2nd or 3rd beer run. If you only do shopping for yourself or maybe 2 people you could easily come here for regular shopping while avoiding the crowds. read more

We love Trader Joe's, but hugely disappointed in the decision by the Morgan hill store to discontinue the child sized grocery carts! It was a win-win situation! It was good for business and added a happy relaxed family atmosphere. Apparently they caved to complaints regarding "safety". Really? How dangerous is a small shopping cart, compared to , say, being hit by a car in the parking lot? We are grandparents and got lots of joy watching the little junior shoppers. It's so sad that something that so many kids and adults enjoyed was allowed to be ruined by a few. Shame on you Morgan hill Trader Joe's. read more

I love going to TJs. My wife doesn't like it because I take too long deciding what snacks to get. Not to mention, our bill is huge because I am the commander in chief of buying crap. She also restricts my Target freedoms. (sigh...) Back to TJ's. A much happier shopping experience than Safeway. This particular TJ's is never packed, the lines are short, and the workers are over the top friendly. I also think most of the Trader Joe items are better than standard store bought ones. Some of my favorites are the chocolate covered macaroons, vanilla jojo's, fruit gems, mini mint ice cream sandwiches, turkey jerky and Virgil's Root Beer to name a few. Sometimes, a Safeway run is necessary - but I prefer the trips to Trader Joe's. read more

I was going for 4 stars but just couldn't do it. This is my favorite TJ's and i'm a regular. Unlike other Bay Area locations this one isn't too big, it's the right size for Morgan Hill. They're always well stocked and the employees are friendly and will take the time to help you find what you're looking for. I picked up some cod the other day and the cashier, Dave gave me an awesome beer battered recipe that was off the hook. I had a day off yesterday and I decided to dress down for a comfortable day. I was super casual with a brown capri, Crocs shoes, and no make up. I started my day by doing grocery-shop at this Trader Joe's, to pick up some beverages and lunches, and then i would drive up to San Jose to give my daughter a ride to college and we would have a little mother-daughter time along the drive. As you all know, around the fruit/produce stands, there are rolls of clear plastic bags. So i put a box of lychee fruits in one bag, 2 boxes of salads in 1 bag, and then an Italian Wrap in 1 bag. Totally, i used 3 bags. Aside these, I also picked up chips and beverages. My intention of putting them in bags, so that when I meet my daughter, I can separate everything into her lunch and my lunch, and the bags are convenient for this purpose. I proceed to the check stand near the Exit. The cashier clerk there as she was bringing up the items, she asked me: "Would you take that many bags if you have to pay .10c/bag?" I said: "maybe not..., not sure" At this point, she made me feel very embarrassing in front of her co-worker (who were bagging my stuffs) and other customers, like I am a thief! She said: "do you know that in San Jose they charge 10c ¢or each of these bags?" I said: "I know they charge 10¢ for the paper bag and carry-on plastic bag, but not these." She said "oh no they charge 10¢ for each of these bags, too" I said "really?" I then added "but I recycle these bags, I use them for other purposes" And then she went on and said that manufacturers should crack down on packaging to reduce the weight, etc. The receipt grossed at approx 09:38 AM 07/16/2013. $21.49 . I paid everything with with cash. There was no "thank you" as she handed me the change, I guess I didn't deserve a "thank you" . I'm sure the store has surveillance tapes that you can pull and watch the whole scenario. My point is writing this is that, if a store employee or business employee has any personal opinion or personal/political/environmental crusade, they should take it directly to the business owners, manufactures' owners, or take it outside of the business. There are plenty of places to do your personal crusade! DO NOT TAKE IT UPON THE PAYING CUSTOMER AND DEFINITELY NOT AT THE CASHIER STAND!! Besides, don't you think the manufacturers or business owners already calculated the cost of packaging into the price or the production cost of the items? I am willing to pay for good foods and good services without questioning the item's price, so do not give me this kind of "KRAB" at the check stand. I have all of the legitimate and personal reasons for taking these bags! At the time of leaving the store, I was upset and aggravated. Instead of having a nice slow, relaxing day, and enjoying it with my daughter, this cashier clerk did a real good job at ruining my day. If this happened to me yesterday, I am sure it did happen to some other customers or it will happen again if it is not addressed. I would give a one star rating for this. But because I later talked to the store's associate manager, and the manager make apology for this, so I up one more star. I really hope that the store managers talks to the employee about this and reminds the employee to TO LEAVE ANY PERSONAL/ENVIRONMENTAL/POLITICAL CRUSADE OUT OF THE WORK PLACE AND RESPECT THE CUSTOMERS WHO PAY! Finally, I wanted to add that people go grocery-shop or shopping in general, it is not always about their intake need, it is also an alternate therapy of the day. So the last thing customers want to hear is to be criticized or lectured at a check stand! If you travel to country like Japan, you will hear nothing but "welcome to our store" and "thank you" repeatedly all the way in and out of a store, and it is all business and customer-oriented. And there should not be any difference between business there or here . Because the bottom line is to make the customers happy as they walk in and out of the store. It is service industry! And definitely, they are not the customers' mother! read more

The always reliable TJ's. Employees here are super polite, and the products they carry arent carried at safeway. I wanna safely say at least 60% of the products have the word organic on the labeling. Only tidbit I've had so far was their meet rack. Bought some chicken and didnt realize there was a puncture of the packaging, but I got it replaced with a bigger pack free of charge....so yeah!! read more

I love this Trader Joes! The staff is friendly, the store is clean, they carry a variety of foods you can't get at a store like Safeway and the prices are generally cheaper. Their flower and plant section is great and affordable as is their wine section. The only reasons that I didn't give five stars is that I don't like all of the packaging they use for their produce and that they get a lot of their products from outside the U.S. Some, like bananas, you can't get here but there are plenty of things that you can. A lot of items also don't say where they came from on the label only that it came from the distribution center in Monrovia CA. Knowing where my food is coming from is becoming increasingly more important to me. I also wish they carried more local wines from our wineries here. I hope to someday be able to do all of my shopping here! read more

Very happy to have a healthy store close to home...at least I can easily fit the trip into my schedule. Easy to access the store from Hwy 101 and parking is a breeze. Prices are easy on the wallet. The veggies last for awhile, I love their spinach and seasonal foods. They have great vegan options and other restrictive diet needs. They have a nice selection of protein/energy bars are low prices. They have general vitamins and toiletries, so it seems like it is a one stop shop. The employees are very helpful and go out of their way to show you were a product is located. They even had tahini! Most groceries son't have it OR the employees have no idea what I'm talking about. Nice to feel normal in this healthy store! read more

I am primarily giving 5 stars instead of 4 because most of the stuff I buy is priced better than the larger stores. The downside of Trader Joe's is the more limited selection, and the lesser selection of organic and non-GMO stuff as compared to Sprouts (all of which, of course, is more expensive). I can probably now get about 75% of what I need here. Love the Vanana yogurt, the best-priced Cliff bars, the nut selection, and the snack desserts. Bananas seem to be cheapest here, outside of a farmer's market. They stopped carrying the "American" bagged salad for some unknown reason, so I still have to go to Safeway, and they never had a good organic version of an "American" salad (which would be great because no one has that). Unique specialty items like the cookie butter is great. All in all, it's great to have a Trader Joe's in the area. read more

My first time at Trader Joe's will definitely NOT be my last. The products and brands are quite different from the usual markets. I felt like a kid in a candy store. There are lots of organic and healthy food choices that look and taste delicious. Price was not high like I thought it'd be. They had a sample stand and they got me. My mom loves their canned pinapple juice. I love the dried fruits selections as well as their flower bouquets or potted plants (depends on season). Also do try out their preserved fruit (jams/spread) on toast. Great pasta sauce selections if you dont like to make you're own. Tons and tons more fun things to list. Joe sure knows how to make some good trades because everything he is selling in his store is fire. He's not the best with grammar though. It should be Trader Joe's grocery store, Trader Joe's doesn't make any sense. I can't judge too much though, I need to proofread everything I write multiple times and I still mess up on something majority of the time. Anyways, Joe also knows how to hire super nice people. The cashier I had was either having the best day ever or he's just always in a good mood. He should be working a job where he can get tips because he'd be bringing in that guacamole (I use to say cheddar until I realized I'm lactose intolerant). Or people just need to start tipping cashiers because this guy definitely deserved it. He was one of those people that smiles so much that it makes me smile and then I'm like "why the hell am I smiling". My experience was topped off by meeting an old friend in the parking lot. As if I needed anymore reassurance to shop here. It was great catching up with her and to know my friend also trusts Trader Joe's to meet all of her grocery shopping needs. read more

If picture attached ok, it was top of the bag of trimmed green beans bought yesterday. Returned this evening due to slimy when tried to blanche them. Exchanged for new. Opened bottom of bag before leaving cashier station. Sour odor came out. Slimy beans also. Verified in front of management, who said they would pull the beans off shelf. Not chastising my new favorite TJ store in Morgan Hill. Just want to share fair warning to all. Beans can release sticky juice when smashed. These are intact green looking long beans. read more

Fantastic gluten free selection. They even have a list at the front of the store for those who are looking for GF products. Major bonus! I moved away years ago, but often go to this location when I'm in town visiting my parents. The staff still remember me, which is amazingly charming! Plusses: The parking is easy, the prices are low and, although smaller than other TJ locations, they do have most of the products the larger stores carry. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Negative: Although they have a nice gf selection, they don't have several of my basics that I can pick up at other TJ stores. I find the fruits and veggies aren't as fresh as other larger stores. I wonder if they just don't have the turnover; that would make sense. All in all, great store. read more

Everyone knows about Trader Joe's - and if you don't, just read the dozens of other reviews for this or any other location. The key reasons to come here: - store-label frozen, canned, and packaged foods and snacks - you can't find these anywhere else and they're generally inexpensive, delicious and/or really unique; TJ's is the only store I know of where the "generic" is better than the foods from the independent brands - decent selection of bread (compared to Safeway, not compared to Whole Foods) - the oat bran pretzel nuggets, the mochi ice cream The reasons to stay away: - any of their meats - steer FAR clear of the meat section. The magic TJ's formula just doesn't work here, and none of it that I've tried is any good at all - they no longer carry Plugra - if you aren't mad about this, you aren't paying attention - no more plastic bags (yes, I know some of you love this ridiculous concept) Yelp policies on including hearsay in my recommendation forbid me from saying too much about "2 buck chuck", the inexpensive Charles Shaw label which curiously is the only wine I can think of better known by its nickname that has a customer base outside of teens and drunks. This is presumably then simply the "Mad Dog" of the middle class - and available only at TJ's. read more

I love the quality and affordable meals at Trader Joe's. I shop here at least 2/week and never get tired of their selection. This store has plenty of parking, the store is immaculately clean and there's hardly any wait time at the registers. I believe this store is unique, because its in a small town like Morgan Hill. I've been to the ones in Campbell and Almaden Valley and its always mayhem there. Doesn't matter what time of the day, the Mo' Hill store usually isn't a zoo. Try the Chicken Teriyaki, ready-to-eat gourmet pizzas, turkey meatloaf and the delicious selection of cheeses. They also have a corn puffs, which puts Pirates Booty to shame. Most importantly, the staff here are amazing and most know me on a first name basis. read more

I love that we have Trader Joe's in town! The employees and managers there are always very nice, the service is impeccable and the range of offerings great. If there is a long line, they immediately open up another cash register. I've rarely had to wait more than 3 or 4 minutes to check out. I also know that most of the items that I buy at Trader Joe's are going to be healthier than what I might buy at other grocery stores in town. They offer more organic products I think than the others. My favorite thing about Trader Joe's is their pre-made meals, which are great in a pinch! read more

I went to this trader joes to gather up smoothie ingredients and some meat. I trust them for their quality food with a focus on health. It was quite busy inside. The place is kept very clean. They were out of frozen kale and it has been over a week now. However, it is a smaller TJ so I can't blame them. The employees are very helpful as well and won't hesitate to help out. The sample today was roast beef, mash potatoes, and a lemon cookie. I'll come back again probably next week. read more

This is my go-to store for wine. Yes, wine! They have wines from France, Italy, Germany ( love the Spätlese), Australia and of course California. The prices for wines are very reasonable. This may sound sad to some people but this is the first time I have stepped into a Trader Joe's. *Pausing till you stop laughing* Anyways... this is the first TJ's that they have built from ground up. All the others, they have used a building already there. The parking lot strikes me as odd. Not sure how to explain it but its just awkward. I was expecting it bigger, not sure if all of them are small but its like a 10 minute store, u can be in and out in 10 minutes and have looked at everything. I have a few fav's which is the only reason why I go.The homemade tortillas. They are really un "PC" because they are called Trader Jose's but they are the best ever and do taste homemade. The corn ones are also PDG (pretty damn good). As I was roaming for my whole 10 minutes, I happen upon MARINATED CARNE ASADA. YEA BABY. Safeway stopped carrying theirs and I am overjoyed that this place carries them. So I bot 2 packages. Each package is enough for 2 adults and maybe a small child. Beware, they are slightly spicy, u wont need hot sauce. Another Aarica Fav is chocolate covered naners. Comes in a pack of 4 and bring me to the doorstep of heaven. lol Ok and the checker was hot... hey call me. lol read more

I love this place for several reasons. First the employees are always kind, helpful, and available. Second the store is always clean, swept and well organized. Third the food here is always available, not like other stores that have a brand one month and not the next. Ugh! I really hate that. Especially since I always buy the same things every month.
