The way this restaurant treats potential customers deserves to be called out. The biggest problem isn't the food--I never even got the opportunity to try it. The problem is the complete lack of customer service and the dismissive attitude of the staff. This restaurant doesn't offer online reservations, so I followed the instructions on their voicemail exactly. I called before they opened, left my name, phone number, party size, and requested time as instructed. The message clearly stated that someone would call back to confirm the reservation. That call never came. Thinking it might have been an oversight, I called again after they opened. No answer. I called a third time. Once again, voicemail. We decided to take our chances and drove to the restaurant anyway. After standing at the entrance for several minutes while multiple servers walked past without acknowledging us, someone finally came over and asked if we had a reservation. I explained everything that had happened. Her response was, "Yeah, if you don't get a call back, you don't have a reservation." I replied that a call letting us know that would have been helpful since I had followed their instructions exactly. Her response? "Yeah, when you called we didn't have any tables available anyway." That simple statement summed up the entire experience. No apology. No acknowledgment that their reservation system had failed. No attempt to make things right. Just a shrug and an attitude that suggested our time didn't matter. If you know you can't accommodate a reservation, pick up the phone or return the call. If your voicemail promises a confirmation call, honor it. And if a customer shows up after doing everything they were told to do, the very least you can do is treat them with courtesy instead of indifference. My family lives in town, and we make a point of supporting local businesses. After this experience, this restaurant won't get another opportunity from us. There are WAY too many restaurants in town (actually several in the SAME PARKING LOT) to tolerate that treatment. read more

Awesome restaurant. The menu is excellent, always some great specials, have never been disappointed. Drinks are good. Service is good but they are very busy so a little patience is needed. New Year Eve dinner with family and friends. 8 people - seating at 7:00 pm as reserved. Great table facing the open kitchen. Menu expansive with lots of specials. Three of us had the duck breast over pears; three had bay scallops; one had swordfish and one had Delmonico steak. Chosen sides were roast potatoes; baked potato dressed. Pasta with tomato sauce also available as a side. Food was delicious! Restaurant was small and full and a little noisy but you could still carry on a conversation. Wait staff outstanding! Met one Cavalier King spaniel who was wearing a Dolly Parton hoodie. What a sweetheart - friendly and well behaved. Great night. read more

This place is a hidden gem. Food is very good, atmosphere friendly & warming. Sits along the bay you have a nice view. Though small in comparison to most restaurants, the food is very good. Has a nice outdoor patio. In addition to the menu offers many specials as well. NOISY! The three of us were seated inside, near the open kitchen with its grills located just behind a bar-height half wall. Between the roar of the grill's exhaust ductwork, the clatter of china, and the 60-year-old pop music, we could hardly hear ourselves at the table. The audiometer app on my iPhone often registered over 80 dB. The food was creative, and a bit untraditional: fried calamari (Rhode Island's official state appetizer, by the way) came unbreaded, for example, and my soft-shell crab hadn't been drained of olive oil. On the plus side, a pair of pups---Cavalier King Charles spaniels, I believe---would occasionally come by and very politely ask to be petted. How could we not comply? read more

I hesitate to review this gem because reservations are so hard to come by. This is the place to come for the best seafood in the region. Everything is great but if bluefish is on the menu get it. We went to Tav Vino last night . It is a lovely spot right on the Narragansett Bay. The kitchen is open to the dining area and everything works smoothly. Dogs in the kitchen are the main reason I wouldn't recommend this spot Two cavalier dogs were wandering in and around both the kitchen and dining room. Seriously? How does pasta come to the table without being sauced and finished in the pan? This is basic Italian food 101. Dry pasta with sauce ladled on top. Moules Frites? This dish is typically in a garlic white wine sauce. It was a cream sauce that was very tasty but should have been advertised that way. There were 8 frites in total and they were as salty as hell. The specials board was as big as the actual menu and having read some previous reviews it seems many of the 'specials' have been on there for months. The waitress we had was very nice and super helpful but we won't be going again. read more

The duck is often a special and hands down better than any restaurant in Providence, Boston or NYC. Drinks are excellent and the bread basket served with dinner can't be missed. Had a 7:15 reservation on a Fri. night. Though the server was nice enough overall service was poor and harried. We waited almost 10 minutes at the door for someone to acknowledge us and finally was pointed(!) to a table. I noticed another couple who came in after we were seated and they too stood at the door for quite a while and no on acknowledged them either! C'mon! Finally seated an no one came by the table for quite a while. Food was lousy. There were four of us an each dish was practically dropped in front of us and it looked like it was scraped out and plopped onto a plate. My wife and I had a yen for a nice sit-down seafood dinner on the Water Street waterfront in Warren. Comparing the menus on yelp, we decided to try this restaurant, which is new since we were last here. They offer offstreet parking, which is extremely tight and difficult to navigate with a larger vehicle. The restaurant interior was tight, crowded, and intimate. We were both seduced by the description of the scrod Portuguese style, which we both decided was excellent. The sauce itself was entirely authentic and superbly satisfying. I also had the wedge salad with Gorgonzola, extremely fresh and tasty. I would gladly brave their parking lot if I am ever again in the area. read more

Wear your white shorts and polo shirts, show up exactly at 5pm and grab a table on the water. OK I'm kidding about the attire but this is definitely a hidden gem of the upper crust crowd. Some of them even show up to the dock on their boats. Bastards. And I'm cool with that. In fact, I'll probably regret writing a good review because I want you all to stay home and leave the delicious food and picturesque view on the patio for me, me, me! I got the grilled chicken which was topped with Gorgonzola and laid on top of caramelized pears, carrots and squash. Amazing. My fiancé got the veal chop (special) which was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Seriously. And they make these tasty alcoholic smoothies too. And did I mention that before our meal came out we were served a plank of fresh bread and banana bread? Had dinner at Tav Vino's last night. The mussels marinara and calamari in the zippy sauce were delicious, however, the rest of my meal was very disappointing. I ordered the crispy salmon and was told that my choice of sides were either potatoes or pasta. I requested vegetables instead due to dietary restrictions and was told there were no substitutions. In my opinion, no great restaurant will ever use that phrase! I had to order a salad at a further expense! I love salmon and eat it often. I was looking forward to the dish which included maple syrup and pecans. I was presented with the worst dish of salmon I have ever had. The salmon was extremely dry and overlooked. I've enjoyed the last 2 Christmas Eve's at this small local restaurant by the water and both years have been great experiences. If you want a small business feel, and fresh food made to order with chaging specials based on what is in season and available it's definitely worth checking out. The place has been around quite a while and it's easy to see why. The night's specials included a long list of different seafood and italian offerings and their regular menu has a little bit of everything. I hear their Zippy Shrimp is THE thing to have for a starter, which features a spicy, "zippy" sauce that can be added to any type of fish on their menu. Unfortunatly my shirmp allergy has kept me from the zippy shrimp, but their little neck special appitizer was so delicious. Perfectly cooked in a white wine garlic sauce...a little piece of heavan. Now I'm going to keep this review short as their amazing bartender also makes an extremely strong cosmo and I was far from sober by the time our entrees made it to the table. I will say I enjoyed my eggplant roteli very much! But I think I'll have to go back and enjoy a meal without a cosmo in be before leaving a more in depth review. First time visit with four other family members. Had a striped bass in zippy sauce with roasted potatoes and a medley of veggies with a lemon drop martini. Everything was superb. All of us were pleased with our food. Server was friendly, accomodating and efficient. Fabulous location right on the river. Came to see if I could have breakfast here because I've seen the outside form the water (I now know they only serve dinner). I docked the boat and immediately got yelled at before I could even ask if they served breakfast. The two "gentlemen" in the restaurant were incredibly rude right off the bat, and I couldn't even get a word out so I decided to leave. Here's the scoop. I went here many years ago and remembered it as being exceptional. I made reservations and went tonight. I was disappointed. First the wine is very expensive. I will not pay $8.50 for a grass of cheap wine. That was the least expensive wine and it is a very cheap wine that most people would not buy if they had a choice. I ordered a beer out of principle. I ordered Portuguese scrod which was supposed to be scrod in a Mozambique sauce. I have made Mozambique sauce and it is a spicy butter based sauce. This was more of a seafood broth. It was not bad, but not a traditional Mozambique. I don't think I would go back. The wine prices alone will keep me away. read more

Used to absolutely LOVE this place (see previous review). We recommended Tav's to just about everyone that we met. Sadly, after a recent visit, it was abundantly clear that the service had seriously slipped. Rude, terrible service at the host desk and inattentive, spotty service once we were actually seated. Very disappointing. Might go back in a few months to give it another try, but I'm not expecting much honestly. Original Review: My husband and I found Tav Vino's while searching for a spot to host our rehearsal dinner a few years back. It's been one of our favorite restaurants ever since. Great food, great owner, and an absolutely amazing location right on the water. Sit outside on the back patio for a beautiful waterfront view. I'll admit that we've had spotty service here a few times... but that has only been when we've had some of the younger waitstaff serving us. Service will be perfect if you have Ellen as a waitress. Don't waste your time! The chef was digging with the waitress . Our salad was to have goat cheese and they forgot the cheese. Service was extremely slow My veal chop was so bad I took two bites and left out. Other meals drowned in garlic What's really said I spoke to the owner the next day and he was very condescending. Has no clue about customer service. We have all eaten here before and it's always been hit or miss. The owner told me you have to take the good with the bad. Warren definitely has some hidden gems. This restaurant looks like it is the same place as three rivers, which is right on the water, but it is actually its own place. The food was a little pricey for me to go alone, but when my parents are paying, I am all for it. The chicken sausage with portabellas, asparagus, and ravioli was delicious, though the cream sauce was a little too rich paired with all of the other rich elements. The sourdough bread that was brought out was still warm and really good - and the waitress asked if we wanted more bread - something that frequently does not happen. I was definitely satisfied with my meal, though I feel like I will be carrying it around with me for the next week. No one to blame but myself. Oh, not a place for vegetarians. My brother tried to order the side of pasta to go with his portabella appetizer and though it didn't say it on the menu, the side of pasta usually comes with meat sauce. She also kept talking about her faults (I always forget this, I always forget that). One of the worst vodka sodas I've had. Not sure what their well vodka is, but I did not enjoy it. Love this place. I have been three times in the past year. The first with a large group, next with a friend, and most recently on a date with my husband. All three times were consistent. Great service. Excellent atmosphere. DELICIOUS food. They have incredible specials and I still daydream about their Chicken Picatta. There are tons of excellent restaurants in Warren and I think Tav Vino often gets overlooked. It shouldn't be, but I love that it's not super crowded. The outdoor seating is wonderful and romantic... but if you want to be outdoors in the summer I'd recommend reservations. Seating indoors is still beautiful and you get decent views of the water as well. Go try it... just don't tell too many people how great it is. :) read more

This is the best restaurant in the east bay area. The clams zuppa is great and they make the best dirty martini I've ever had. We've eaten here probably fifteen times and aside from two times the experience has been first class. As far as the two "bad times." The one time they were super busy and it was obvious that they were breaking in a new wait staff (to me this is unfortunate, but acceptable every once and a while).The second time was a Sunday and they had held a private event that afternoon. In their defense they did warn us when we showed up that they were out of many of the items on the menu, but in my opinion they shouldn't have opened that night because the food was below the usual quality that I expect from them. Aside from the two times mentioned above I would strongly recommend this place on a nice summers night for an outstanding meal. read more

The chef and kitchen staff were incredibly slow. Arrived at 6 for our reservation and it was 8:30 before we were served. After ordering eggplant I and taking the orders of my three guests, the server went on her way. Fifteen minutes later she returned with " we are all out". Mind you all out at 6:30! I reordered scallops. Ten minutes she returned to say all out. I then ordered veal parmigiana - all out. Finally I settled for a veal chop. Why had the kitchen not let the server know of shortages. Mind you, place opens at five and this was 6:30. My wife's swordfish was " less than exciting" while the striped bass and tortilini dishes were good. No apologies from the kitchen, no reduction of the tab and no offer of a compensatory dessert. Not returning till I hear they gave their act together. Will cancel reservation for next Thursday as friends from NYC deserve better than this!!!! read more
