We had a nice dinner here on a Saturday night. They have some pros and cons. Pros - parking available for free right next to the restaurant The calamari was cooked to perfection - highly recommend. They house make gnocchi and it's good - soft and pillowy. We had it with pesto. The service is friendly and everyone pitches in so you aren't looking for just your waiter if you need anything. Food came out fast ...... Which leads me to a couple of cons The food came out fast. Really fast. Our whole dinner was finished in 45 minutes. We could have lingered but when the mains come out you want to have them while hot and fresh. The atmosphere was not inviting - I think the space could be made more welcoming The wine by the glass choices were limited and not the best. Their better choice was Caymus and the rest were substantially lower end than that. Overall I think they do some things really well which is commendable in the over saturated world of italian restaurants. I'd like to try some more dishes like their pizza and seafood ! And yes , I would go back to do just that. Definitely worthy of being on your list of new places to try if you've never been. read more

My daughter found this gem! She kept talking about their lasagna and she is one of the pickier eaters so I knew this placer had to be legit. We decided to go for dinner for one of our birthdays and it didn't let us down! The menu is a pretty good size but not overwhelming. The restaurant is not huge but it's very cute and quaint. A go-to for me when I'm in the mood for gnocchi in malibu. I always get the burrata to start -- the beets with the burrata are delish and refreshing. My favorite dish is the fungo selvatici and it's the perfect serving, filling, and always hits the spot. The sauce is so so tasty and the gnocchi is so fluffy and such a great vehicle for the sauce. Honestly every dish I've had here is yummy, but I always get it in addition to ordering the fungo selvatici bc I feel like I would regret it if I left without ordering my fave. I recently came by with friends with some hungry toddlers in tow for the first time, and so we got the kids orders in first (basic pastas with red sauce or butter, etc) and were able to get them fed and calm before we got our mains in. The ambiance may not appear to be particularly kid-friendly, but it actually worked out perfectly. Service here is always consistently great - there's always an abundance of help around if you need anything at all. Also, if you wish to linger, you can def just order as you go and go with drinks and apps first etc. We never feel rushed to leave when we're here even when we've finished eating and are packed up. An extensive wine list should cover just about any wine option you might want to choose, with many options by the glass if you don't want an entire bottle. The mozzarella in the caprese was perfect. Firm, slightly salty, but melt in your mouth. The tomatoes was what you would expect for January, but wasn't bad. The bread brought to the table was incredibly soft, yet still had a crunchy crust. Delicious! I had the veal with melted brie. It was so tender I didn't need a knife to cut it, and the brie on top was amazing. I'm not sure what the sauce was but it was the best complement to the meat and cheese. It was served with steamed mixed vegetables, with butter and garlic. They were cooked to be soft but not mushy, and were delicious. My companion had the sole and it was moist and firm without being overcooked and rubbery. It came with a sage based sauce that was quite tasty! Steamed mixed vegetables also came with the fish. If you are in the mood for pizza, while we didn't have one, they looked and smelled incredible. We saw many people coming in to pick up their orders - no less than 8 in 90 minutes. The dessert menu looks yummy, but there just wasn't any room. It does not have a view but it does have patio seating out front on PCH, we found it to be quite loud and choose to sit inside. Service was excellent. Hector our server was friendly, prompt and made some great suggestions. The menu is quite extensive and they have a very nice wine list. The food was excellent except for everyone that had chicken. They complained it was overcooked, rubbery, tasted like it was microwaved. This the four stars. May have been an off night for their chicken. The meal began with delicious fresh warm bread served with flavorful tapenade. The beet salad was fresh and flavorful. The Scampi Francese was amazing, the shrimp cooked perfectly. The grilled Scottish Salmon was slightly over cooked but seasoned nicely. The Bolognese Gnochhi, the Tramonto Fusili were cooked perfectly except for the chicken. I had to order the Orechiete Noodles with black truffle. It was tasty, cooked perfectly but overpriced in my book, I would not order again. Every dish exceeded expectation: Vitello tarfuto (veal with melted cheese) orrecchiette (gnocchi), Lamb chops, scampi francese (prawns in lemon caper sauce), cioppino, tiramisu, chocolate dream (chocolate cake with Pina colada ice cream), tarte tatin (upside down apple pie Ala mode), torta Della nonna (custard filled slice with ice cream). Even the complimentary bread with olive dip with delish and we asked for seconds. Service also excellent. Humble, attentive, spot-on recommendations. We visited Tramonto specifically for the freshly shaved truffle pasta dish and enjoyed it. It's tossed in a hollowed out wheel of cheese and then served into a small bowl with very generous shavings of fresh truffle. I'd suggest they serve in a large plate instead, but maybe a bowl is more authentic. If anything the dish is actually too rich (the serving seems smallish but is a challenge to finish). Still, that lush truffle experience is well worth the money. If a couple is dining together, I'd suggest only one person orders it and then sharing. read more

I was driving up the PCH one day to enjoy a wonderful day off work, only to discover I also had a stomach that had not seen care since earlier in the day when I had a light breakfast. Upon finishing a scenic drive north, I started my descent, whilst my stomach growled even louder than before. Eventually, the pangs stopped, but that was like a moody teen girlfriend, just because she isn't saying anything, doesn't mean she still isn't upset. I decided then to stop at the first place I could get to, that being Tramonto. It was a relatively uneventful afternoon on an overcast Wednesday, no one there except for a nice French family chatting away over a pleasant meal (they were unaware that I picked up a little including their friend Camille's upcoming divorce which I was sorry to hear about). The service was pristine, very quick and warm. they took my order and were pleasantly quick in getting it to the table. I ordered a carbonara, something basic, but warming to counterbalance the overcast, slight drizzle and sea breeze. When served, I dug in. The carbonara was superb, a wonderfully creamy sauce with pancetta that was excellently crisped and tasted perfectly aged. I ordered coffee after the check came, drank a wonderfully brewed house roast, and left to drive back in Los Angeles. A wonderful detour from a day's trip, and honestly was a perfect addition to that experience. Absolutely worth my time to come here, and I do plan on coming back some day soon to try more of the menu. Had the most amazing takeout experience tonight. The gentleman who answered the phone was so sweet and patiently took my order with many small edits to items. They even made me a special order (GF pasta primavera w oil & garlic instead of red sauce) and it was INSANE!! Cannot wait to order it again highly recommend. They prepared everything very fast aprox 20 min for 2 salads three entrees and row childrens menu items. They then also threw in a brownie because I told him I had children and wrote "thank you" on the package. Just so sweet all around u cannot wait to order from here again. The takeout quality honestly was as good as in restaurant. The salmon and chicken Milanese were devoured by my family in an instant and the chopped salad was perfect. I took my daughter here after a day date in Malibu to celebrate her birthday. She wanted to go to an Italian restaurant, so I looked some up in the area & decided to try this place out. I made reservations for 7, because I wasn't sure how busy it gets on Sunday night but it wasn't too busy. It seemed as though people were able to walk up & be seated. Service was amazing. I love small, intimate restaurants for that reason. The wine was delicious & my daughter got a raspberry tea that came out in a glass over a little pitcher of ice, that she thought was super cool. The food was the best part though! We ordered the crostini with prosciutto & burrata as an appetizer, and I still can't get over how good it was. We both got the lasagna and it was probably the best I've ever had. (Sorry mom lol) They brought out a little dessert and sang Happy Birthday to her. Good neighborhood place to eat This place is one of my favorite Italian places to eat in Malibu. The staff is friendly and you can go casual! I love the lamb shop there, all the pasta dishes are great! This time pizza the garlic was a little bit undercooked but that is unusual. The food is amazing!! My daughter and I stopped in and had the special burrata crostini with roasted grape tomatoes and micro greens. It was the bomb!! I had the lasagna and it had so many layers of pasta!! It was so good! My daughter had the spinach and ricotta tortellini with a pink sauce and was also very good!
