Tranquility Outdoors removed an old brick patio and put in a new one for us in Culpeper Virginia. They built a stone wall for us last year and did such a great job we hired them again for the patio. Brad Harris, the owner, came out and talked with us to see what we wanted and to take measurements and discuss materials. He promptly sent us a proposal by email. We were not ready to move forward immediately and before we could set a date we were contacted again by Brad. He had paving stones left over from previous jobs and sent us a photo to ask if we liked them -- and told us that he would give them to us for free to save us a little money. This is typical for this company. They are always striving to provide a great product at the least cost for the customer. At the end of July we were ready to have the patio installed and Brad and his crew showed up on time and ready to go. They do one job at a time and stay until your job is done. Unlike some other companies, they do not disappear for days at a time to work on another job while your job is half done. They are very professional and have a huge trailer to carry their equipment. Brad and his crew are always ready for the unexpected. When digging up the old patio they discovered there was a cement slab beneath the bricks. A lot of companies would tag on extra charges for something like this but not Tranquility Outdoors. They had a jackhammer and busted up the concrete and added it to the debris to be carried off. The completed patio is absolutely beautiful. They used surveying equipment to get the tilt perfect so that rain would run off one side. It is such a slight tilt you would need the surveying equipment to know it's even there. The stones are laid in a beautiful pattern and look like they were part of the original landscaping. They scattered seed and covered it with straw around the edges for us. Tranquility Outdoors is known to do little extras while on site to help the customer at little or no additional charge. A neighbor wanted the old bricks from our patio. Brad went to the neighbors house, hooked up their trailer and brought it over to our house, loaded the bricks and returned the trailer to the neighbors home. We noticed that a slate step coming down from our porch was broken and Brad repaired it with a piece of slate from an existing walkway -- again at no cost to us. He even noticed a low spot in our front yard where we had put some fill dirt and took some extra seed and scattered it covering it with straw for us -- at no charge and without us asking. We have always been extremely happy with this company's work ethic and with the end product they create. They are just a stellar company all the way around. I should probably wait until the job is 100% done, but my patio already looks amazing. Brad was really helpful and came out personally to measure and help us pick stone and other options. He gave us a better price than the first quote we got from someone else- much much better price, and they were able to start pretty quickly. He's been here working on it himself with a few guys, all very nice. He has been very accommodating and makes sure the yard is safe for our dogs to roam after they've left for the day, which in my experience isn't something most contractors bother to do. Brad and his crew just completed installing a large dry bed and walkway around my home. My home is a long narrow one-story building that has been surrounded by standing water and deep mud since last September. Brad corrected the grading, installed buried drainpipe, poured concrete across a section of driveway to stop erosion and put pavers in the front yard. Best of all, he showed up on time, and communicated when there was going to be weather delays and the effect it would cause on the timeline. Tranquility Outdoors recently completed a project for us consisting of design and build of multiple retaining walls, outdoor lighting, grading, and sodding. They did a fantastic job and, despite being a smaller company, worked extremely hard and got the job done according to their initial cost and schedule estimate. Brad (The main designer) was a pleasure to work with and very prompt to answer all of our questions that my wife and I had about the project. One of the selling points for us was that Tranquility Outdoors only works on one project at a time. We could not recommend Tranquility Outdoors, LLC highly enough. You will get exactly what you want, a beautiful finished product and it will not cost you one dime more than it should. In late October 2016 we contracted with Tranquality Outdoors, LLC, to build a stone wall in front of our house. We had a problem with drainage whenever we had a heavy rain because the front yard slopes towards the house. We wanted to construct the wall to keep the water from coming into our front door and to guide it away from the front of the house. Brad Harris, the owner, came out and listened to our ideas and tweaked them to get us exactly the results that we wanted. All of his suggestions saved us money and made the wall more efficient. He never tried to push or sell us more than what we wanted. Mr. Harris is a great problem-solver. He had some very creative ways to get around a window which would be behind the wall and also a unique way to run one of the rain gutters down through the wall. Aesthetically his fixes worked very well and the finished wall adds a very nice look to the front of our house. We showed him the stones we wanted at a local supplier where we had planned to purchase them ourselves. Instead he purchased them for us at about $400 less than the price we had been quoted by using his contractor discount and passing the savings along to us. At every step of the project he did his best to save us money and still get a finished product we would be happy with. Brad and his crew only work on one job at a time so there were no half days of work and no disappearing for days at a time to work on another job as we have experienced with other contractors. He arrived on time every day with his workers exactly when he said he would. Work went very well on all levels of the job. Each day when he was finished they would clean up the area and blow the leaves off of the porch where he was constructing the wall. He even did a few extras like filling in around the paving stones we put down two years ago. Our driveway in back of the house was full of leaves and woodchips from a tree we had just taken down. We arrived home to find that he had used his leaf blower to clean the driveway for us before he left one day. There were stones left over and he took those to the back of the house and piled them neatly on a pallet for us. He also moved a large statue from a flower bed for us and put in a cement base for it to sit on at no charge. We called him a couple of times after the job was finished to ask questions and the calls were always returned promptly. The finished wall is about 85 feet long approximately 2 feet high out of the ground with a bottom layer running below ground level for stability. The price was $7300 including materials. We've had our patio for a few months now, and let me tell you it looks great! We decided to go with this company for many reasons. From the first meeting when Brad came to take measurements and discuss the project it was clear that he was so sure about his product that he did not need to push it. He was right! Brad was a pleasure working with, from selecting the materials to the design and the presentation of what they can/cannot do (they can do pretty much anything!). This company has outstanding customer service, from the sales to the installation to addressing issues presented to them without hesitation always to the betterment of the project. The design received for the approval from our HOA was impeccable and allowed us to have it approved in no time because all details were all already detailed in the plans. There was no need for haggling, the price was discussed and even when there where minor modifications along the way that never meant that we were short changed or that the cost was increased. In the contrary, they did everything possible to allow us to save some money in the project without cutting corners in the results and in some cases absorbed the cost as a courtesy to us. The owners supervised and actually worked in the project which to us meant that they wanted to make sure our project was one that they too could be proud of and I'm sure they were because they left behind an excellent finished product! I live in Culpeper, VA and in 2018 discovered that part of my septic tank was under my current patio when it came time to have it pumped. This allowed me to see that I had more patio issues than I originally thought. After speaking with several contractors about my project it was clear that the whole patio needed to be removed and start over. I choose Brad, owner of Tranquility Outdoors, he was very professional on the phone and always on time. I felt very comfortable working with Brad. He gave me a very long list of references (I think 10). I manage to reach 2 of them and he got such rave reviews I didn't call anyone else! He listen to what I wanted & gave me clear details of all the steps needed in order to have a good foundation for the patio. He assisted me in picking out materials & how to resolve some issues with the location of my patio in relationship to my house and had great ideas to improve on the new patio. In our original discussion I was going to remove all the brick and stone of old patio to save money, however Brad had a cancellation and called and said he would adjust the cost we originally discussed on removing the old materials and he could move my job up to help his schedule. I really appreciated that he started when he said, & if weather was going to be a factor he called or texted the evening before and his estimated length of job was very close!! He did run into a few unknowns but he always let me know, we discussed and he fixed with no additional charge. He worked on the project everyday and his employees were young, courteous and knowledgeable. One day Brad had to leave the job & a piece of equipment stopped working, instead of sitting down and waiting for Brad to return, they worked on it diligently and finally got it working. That could have been over half a day lost! I really appreciated Brad's honesty, timeliness, knowledge, work ethic (cleaned up job site every day) and just a very pleasant person. This is the type of person I want to always do business with and unfortunately they are few and far between. I look forward to working with him again on some landscape issues.
