My Billy Bob pizza fresh out of the oven.
    Dennis T.

Despite living in Milwaukee for more than five years, I had never been to this pizza cafe. My crowd went there recently and had an enjoyable afternoon. I liked the vibe of the place and we were seated at the front near the windows for a view of the entire neighborhood. Our waitress was knowledgeable of the menu and very helpful when we were placing our order. I had their Billy Bob specialty pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and green peppers. The crust was thin and baked perfectly. I've had better tasting crusts, but it was good nonetheless. The toppings were the star of the show, however, and were fresh and plentiful. A bridal party was there the day we were, so we couldn't sit at a table inside their city bus outside. Maybe next time.

Transfer has consistently been my favorite pizza spot in the city for years. Their pizza is always amazing, service can't be beat, you can get big group small groups, come here for a date night, it checks all the boxes. They now have a cute back patio in a renovated bus that is its own vibe, too. And Wednesday nights (or Thursday nights?) they have live music. My favorite pizzas are the white sauce ones! And I always have to get the salami bruschetta.

This inside of this place is so well done and fun. They specialize in pretty much only pizza and salad. The cheesy garlic bread was amazing. It was light and flaky, and we ate the whole thing, which I normally can't do and don't even get me started on the marinara sauce was soooooo good and it has a little spice to it. I highly recommend trying it and then asking it to be put on your pizza, we will definitely be doing this next time. The staff was attentive and very friendly. We got the pepperoni pizza it does only come in one crust. I'm a fan of thin crust, but this one was very good even though it was a little thicker. I highly recommend this place.

I have driven by Transfer at least 2000 times. Why did it take decades for me to walk in the door? Tonight is jazz night, and it feels like I walked into cafe in New York City. Holy moly, amazing sideline to a killer ensemble and patrons out of central casting for a gritty New York drama. Their Blood Orange Negroni was like a tonic after a night of Pinot Grigio. Pizza looks amazing, service is impeccable. Why oh why has it taken me so long to come here?!

Best pizza in the Walkers Point/ Bay View area!! This has been my go to take out spot since moving to the neighborhood. Super easy online ordering, and prompt pickup at the side entrance always makes it a smooth transition from restaurant to home. Now the pizza itself.... delicious! That solid combo of a crunchy/ soft crust with a nice crisp bottom is great! I consistently get the Hawaiian and have a hard time keeping leftovers for long (if at all).

We stopped by Transfer for an early Valentine's Day dinner and to use our City Tin coaster! We were able to be seated right away and they were just using the front part of the restaurant. It is such a nice environment and the staff is so friendly and on top of things. They even were able to hook us up with a special topping they don't normally have. My reason for not giving it 5 stars is that I think the pizza just might not be my style of pizza. I never gravitate toward it for some reason, but I know other people really enjoy it! The staff and environment are really great!

1st time trying based upon reviews. Not impressed! 1.Waited an extra 20 mins to pick up my takeout because they burnt my pizza which they acknowledged prior. 2. Dedicated take out parking was a log jam because people were squatting when their pizzas weren't ready yet. Although when I arrived at my dedicated pick up time, they asked me not to park when I arrived. 3. Most importantly, not impressed with the overall taste, the crust, the sauce, none of it. I was expecting a lot more based on the reviews and it fell flat in every way. Maybe it was rushed because they had to replace it, but I won't be returning much better options in Milwaukee for sure.

Visited friends in Milwaukee and they suggested this spot. Lots of room for seating, cute diner style bar area. We didn't have any drinks at this stop but looked like a full bar. I ordered a classic pepperoni pizza but my two friends were vegetarians and there were tons of options. Pizza was so good, perfectly cooked crust and flavorful toppings. This could be fun a spot for friends or family. Kid friendly!

Pie for pie the best za in the city! Transfer has been a staple in the MKE pizza scene for decades, and for good reason. They have an excellent variety of pizza options, but you must try one of their garlic sauce pizzas! 2 of our favorites are the Garlic Special: garlic cream sauce, cheese, sausage, mushrooms Or Garlic Lovers: garlic cream sauce, cheese, pepperoni, sausage You really can't go wrong with any pizza you order, although I will say the dill lacked any hint of dill flavor, so that was disappointing. The service is great, very attentive and helpful navigating the menu. Also fun: They have live jazz music every Thursday! Most pizza spots are made to carry out, but Transfer has created a warm and inviting space to dine in on some tasty za!

Honestly some of the best pizza in Milwaukee. Great place to hang out with a group! I would definitely go back!

A scrumptious Sunday evening meal! Hubby and I haven't been here in what feels like 5+ years so when someone reminded us of this gem we knew we had to go on our next date night. Such a cute atmosphere. We got a little two top but I'm determined to return at sit at the bar, it's such a vibe. I got the pear martini and would absolutely get it again, 9/10, sweet and refreshing which is exactly what I needed on this summer evening. We started with the Bruschetta, just the basic one, and boy was the flavor awesome!! For pizza, we opted for a large Diavola and added onion (because I'm obsessed w onions). And it was very good! I'd give it a 7.5/10. I feel like there's gotta be better pizzas on the menu but it's so hard to chose. My husband had the idea of a sampler pizza where you get a quarter of all different pizzas because it's honestly so hard to just chose one or two. We had 2 slices to take home (perks of ordering 1 large), and I will get to enjoy them for my lunch on Monday - lucky me!!

My favorite will always be the fried potato ball covered in cheesy goodness with sour cream and chives. I opted for the new Sammartino which is a brilliant combination of ingredients. Who could refuse an Italian sausage on a toasted bun with crispy bits of pepperoni, pesto, marinara and cheese. If you don't like spice do not get this sandwich because the Italian is a, medium hot which was a little too spicy for me. Also I think the sausage could have used a little more fat for mouth feel but that's a personal preference. Note that all the Italian sausage is made spicy because my friend had one with sauerkraut and it was spicy. I can't wait for it to be warm out to grab a beer and a craft hot dog on the outside patio.

We started with an order of cheese curds and poutine. The cheese curds were perfectly fried salty goodness and the poutine had plenty of gravy, sautéed onions, and of course, more cheese curds. We also ordered a Milwaukee-style bratwurst and a Chicago-style cheddarwurst. We both thought that the Chicago-style cheddarwurst had great flavor and delicious toppings. The Milwaukee-style bratwurst was tasty, but we both felt that it needed some type of sauce or something to bring it all together. Needless to say, we left completely full and actually did not even have room for dinner that evening. So if you find yourself in the Milwaukee area and looking for some delicious comfort food, come check this place out.

I called ahead to make sure they had room, and we arrived around 6:30 p.m. Food: We started with a couple of beers, and I also ordered one of their specialty cocktails, the Girl in the Neon Moon. I think of it as a Miller High Life Summer Shandy, and it was very tasty. For dinner, we ordered the Street Corn, a Double Palomino Burger, and the Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich. The Street Corn was just okay. I'm used to street corn being roasted, and their version was sautéed. In my opinion, roasted or cast-iron-charred corn delivers much better flavor. The burger was excellent. They nailed the medium-rare temperature, the patties had great flavor, and everything arrived hot. The toppings added great texture, although the bun struggled to keep up with all of the delicious beef juices. The Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich was nothing short of amazing. They use chicken thighs instead of breasts, which are almost always more flavorful. The chicken was lightly battered and perfectly crispy. The pickles and mayo were a great complement. I ordered the hot sauce on the side and mixed a little into the mayo, which turned out to be the perfect choice. The fries were also very good. My wife said she'd come back just for another order of those. The portions were generous, and we ended up enjoying another meal from the leftovers the next day. Service: Several different servers took care of us throughout the evening. We were seated quickly, water and menus arrived right away, drinks followed shortly after, and all of the food came out hot. Everyone was efficient and helpful, but we never really connected with any of them. The restaurant was only about half full, so I don't think they were simply too busy. It wasn't a deal breaker, but it's always nice when the service includes just a little conversation along with taking care of the essentials. Atmosphere: It's a neighborhood corner bar serving surprisingly good food. The bar itself is attractive, with oversized, comfortable bar stools. The dining area is simple but comfortable, with plenty of space between the tables, and the noise level made it easy to carry on a conversation. We're really glad we stopped in and would happily come back. Next time, I'd skip the Street Corn and order the Brussels sprouts instead, but I'd keep everything else exactly the same.

Our server, Bryak, although newer, was outstanding and the other staff fantastic too. They are passionate about their food and the history of the place. Brando, one of the owners, stopped by our table and gave us a brief history of the building and restaurant. It was originally a Schlitz brewery, and the decor is a nod to the original purpose of the building. They tell you on the menu that it will take an hour to prepare. Do NOT do what we did at my table and select something else. Our food took an hour to arrive ANYWAY. Wish I had the burek, because my chicken was disappointing. They give you five little slices of rye bread (for four people) and one pad of whipped butter while you're waiting. The appetizer came out 20 minutes later. The restaurant was a neat tribute to times gone by. The restauranteur revitalized a former Schlitz tavern, and preserved the Shlitz branding. You'll see the Schlitz globe on the spire of the building's exterior, and inside you'll see an oversized, cool ,retro Schlitz pendant light fixture. The tabletops are old school retro Formica, complete with metal edging. There was a large painting on masonite next to our table. The vibe is something I can appreciate. The service was warm, charming, and patient. The server offered recommendations, and told us a little bit about each dish. One of the kitchen staff came out to greet us and see how we felt about our meals. The food. Okay, again, it was just not my thing. For an appetizer we had the stuffed grape leaves--I've eaten these many times in my life. These were as good as any, and one of my favorite things to eat in a Serbian restaurant. We each had something different--one of us had eggplant, another stuffed, peppers, another the goulash, and I had chicken breasts in paprika sauce with a small side of rice. Everything is stuffed with rice. Everything. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food enough. I came in starved, having not eaten anything all day, and it was after 8 when our food came out. I was not a fan of my chicken dish--chicken prepared with the bones in -AND- the skin on (it seemed slimy to me). It was that sliding-off-the-bone slimy, that most people describe as "juicy." The flavor was onion-y and something that my palate processed as sour--and I tasted this all evening. This is not a dis to the restaurant. I think if you like this type of food, you can enjoy a good meal here. Dishes were about $28 on average. At that price point, I'd rather enjoy something else. Give it a shot. The service was impeccable.

We reviewed the menu while we waiting for seating, which took far longer than we wanted, more than 30 minutes standing in the cramped lobby area with a bunch of other people. Hats off to their host for being friendly and even a little entertaining and I like that you can order coffee at the register area and drink it while you wait. Too bad you can't get a cocktail out there. The menu sounded great and we were ravenous so we were excited to order. By the time we were seated we were limited to about 40 minutes to get to a ticketed event, all in. I told that to our waitress so she could pace the meal accordingly. While I understand that she can't control the kitchen time, I don't think she showed any expediency or attention to my statement. Spoiler alert - we were late. Two of us ordered the biscuits to start with jam. I was happy to try them and they were good. My coffee based martini hit the spot, but it was spilled a little when it hit the table and our server didn't say anything or wipe it off. My mom liked her bloody Mary and it was decent. When our food came I was immediately disappointed by the appearance. My chilaquiles looked like they had sat under a heat lamp for ages - the egg was dried and over firm. My chips were spicy, but 100% soggy and nasty. My black beans were - meh. Not a good dish overall. My mom actually didn't find fault with her Honeypie Benedict. I tried the hollandaise and it was fine. My cousin did not enjoy her Hopple Popple skillet at all. (Potatoes, bacon, caramelized onion, mushroom, bell pepper, cheddar, two scrambled farm eggs) She found it difficult to find any egg, as it was apparently shrunk into tiny bits. The potatoes were like fries and it was overall bland. Not a winner. We certainly won't be back. The dishes don't live up to the interesting descriptions of them and the hype seems to be from an earlier, better time for this restaurant.

Fucking love this place…read more If there is a highly rated small plates place in a location we are visiting, you can count on us to find it. We walked literally thirty minutes to this place from our hotel. It was a lovely walk in early August. We had a 5:45pm reservation on a Thursday (we are old now) and we were seated immediately. Service was excellent. Ok so they have a fantastic cocktail menu. I appreciate any cocktail menu that is more complex than vodka and cranberry juice but this takes it to another level of creativity. I also like how they name them with numbers. It's so much easier to say "I'll have a 42" rather than "I will have a duperbeamerscicle". I started with an "88" with pisco, rose-poached strawberry, amontillado sherry, verjus, rose port, and pink peppercorn. Served in a highball glass and garnished with berries. Very refreshing. GF started with the "91" mezcal, passion fruit, poblano, pineapple, amaro, lime. Gorgeous and chic. Very strong, smoky flavor. When in Rome, so the cheese plate did not feel like an option. Four fantastic cheeses were served with very tasty candied nuts, some jam business, grapes, and some of the best bread I have had on a cheese plate. Thick, soft, and fluffy. Paired absolutely perfectly with cheese. Only complaint is that I wish there was more of it. I haven't had deviled eggs in a minute so I went wild and also had the chili crisp deviled eggs which were SPECTACULAR. I also got the Egyptian fried cauliflower which is served on a smear of harissa and lemon tahini. Very flavorful. Star of the show tbh was the tagliatelle with squash, tomato, these fried cheese crisps. The noodles were al dente and SO GOOD in such a wonderful sauce. GF also got the steak, she says "very good seasoning". I helped her out with the kimchi pancake. Wonderful. Such a great sauce. For our second round of dranks we both went with the "77" makrut lime vodka, tamarind, bird's eye chili, cilantro, lime, lemongrass. Very tamarind forward. Very unique. I can see why it's our server's favorite drink on the menu. The desserts looked really good (something with sticky rice I think it was a cocktail and a bread budding that looked fantastic) but we just weren't feeling it.

Our bartender was incredibly friendly, charismatic, and genuinely passionate about the menu. He took the time to explain dishes, offered thoughtful recommendations, and made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Every dish we ordered was outstanding. The deviled eggs were easily our favorite and are an absolute must-order. We also loved the flatbread with fiddleheads, which featured a delicious curry-inspired flavor that reminded us of an Indian dish. My husband couldn't stop talking about the bread pudding and said it was one of the best desserts he's had. Everything we tried was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. If we lived in Milwaukee, Odd Duck would absolutely become one of our regular spots. We can't wait to come back the next time we're in town.

My sandwich was amazing, great dressing. The wasabi mayo was great for both the sandwich & the chips. One of the best sandwiches I have had recently. Both of us got the mix of the chips & slaw, best decision. Great mix & both are amazing!!!

First time dining at Cafe Lulu after many years…read more I ordered the K.K. Philly, thin slices of marinated flank steak grilled with melted provolone, sauteed mushrooms and bell peppers, tucked in a fresh baguette, for $15.25. The steak was tender. The sandwich needed a sauce, though.... it ate a little dry without one. For my side I chose A Little Bit of Both, which pairs the Asian slaw with Lulu chips. The slaw was the highlight of the meal, crunchy cabbage, carrots, scallion, peanuts and ramen noodles in a sesame oil and rice wine vinegar dressing. I wish I had gotten a full side of it instead of splitting it with the chips. The chips are thick-cut and made fresh to order, but they lacked flavor on their own. I was dining alone on a Friday at lunchtime. The place was fairly slow, and I did not feel awkward. My server checked in a couple of times and kept my iced tea refilled. It was hot and humid outside that day. The cafe was air conditioned, but it still felt humid inside, and the ice in my drink melted quickly.

From visit on: 2/8/26 - late review!…read more My date and I were so excited to try the Eggs Benedict flight. We had reservations for Sunday at 11. Our server was very kind, great atmosphere in the place as well. We ordered a side of the potatoes and they came out nice and hot. Unfortunately, both of our Eggs Benedict flights were lukewarm at best, from the first bite. My date made a comment to the server and she offered to reheat. We initially declined but within a minute changed our mind. Our server was understanding and quickly brought over an extra flight (which I saw her bring from the heating lamps). This plate was also the same temperature. I really don't like to leave neutral or negative reviews, but it's unfortunate to spend money and have a less than par experience on the food we were looking forward to eating. We did take a small box to go and the crab cake heated up later was very delicious, but just not the same as if we had been given a hot meal to start at the restaurant. I've eaten here for dinner and was super impressed with the serving size, but I don't think I'd come back for brunch.
