Overall I'm satisfied with my move. I used Transparent back in 2015 for a small move. This time I needed them to move my items from storage to my new home (from Newbury Park to Tarzana) with 1 drop off location - goodwill for a drop off location and 1 another pick up location- my rental. The move took a total of 8 hours including labor and driving. I had them start a few hours earlier to finish packing the kitchen at my rental, which I started by got tired after a bit. They came with bubble wrap, various size boxes and other packing material. My rating to be more specific would be 4.75. The only thing I would like better is for them to have a more specific arrival time. My arrival time was from 7 to 10 am. They did call me when they were on the way. Another thing is we had a small issue with disassembly, but it was because the screw was stripped. We luckily got it done but it took some time. As far as the movers go they were very nice, good looking, and strong. They were professional and you can tell they know what they were doing. I had a electronic temperpedic bed which weighed at least 300 pounds and the 2 movers (James and Manny) took care of it with no issues. A plus I did like is they wrapped all the furniture moving pads, my mattress has a mattress bag, everything was disassembled and reassembled, and all my items arrived in the same condition. Another good thing was they brought a full sized moving truck. Even though I didn't need all of it I'm glad we had one trip. I remember I did a move a long time ago and the movers brought a small truck and I needed two trips. I definitely didn't like that. But this time it was great. Pros: The movers were great (Alex and Nik I believe). They showed up right on time, were very communicative, handled my furniture very carefully and efficiently. They were super patient with me and overall made my move a quick and easy experience! Cons: Archie, who I believe is the owner. He was very confusing and unclear when I was trying to get a quote from him via email. I tried calling the phone number listed but he didn't pick up and the voice mail box was full. He charged me a $50 deposit to reserve my appointment which I promptly paid. After my move, I realized that when the guys charged me they forgot to deduct the $50 I'd already paid. I immediately emailed Archie about it and he didn't respond. I followed up several days later and he didn't respond until 3 days after that. He said he would take care of it but it's been nearly a week and I have yet to be refunded. I followed up 3 days ago and have heard nothing. It's too bad the customer service is so bad because the movers themselves were really great! UPDATE: I have to change my review from 3 stars to 1 star because it's been 4 months and I still haven't been refunded my deposit. The owner had several excuses and kept telling me I'd be refunded "next week". He has since stopped answering my calls, texts, and emails. At this point I don't even care about the money (it was only $50), it's about the principle. I don't get how you can run a business like this ANOTHER UPDATE: The company is under new management and I was contacted to resolve the issue I had 2 years ago. I'm not quite sure where to begin. I've moved three different times in LA and had movers each time. I've always had an amazing experience, but couldn't find the info for them for this move. I've never had such a stressful and quite frankly horrible move. Let's start with the fact that I first purchased a Groupon. When I called to make a reservation, they said I needed to cancel the Groupon and they would match the price I paid. I used an extra 20% off on my Groupon so the total price was $112. They (from Archie's email) sent me a quote with that price for the date I had asked. A week and a half before the move, I called their office and asked if we could move the date to the day before (19th) and they agreed. They were supposed to send an email and they didn't. I tried following up with them and they never answered the emails or phone calls. The 19th showed up, no one came. I tried to find another company but no one was available for under $250 that late of notice. So they came the next day (the 20th) When they arrived the gave me the price of $199. Called Archie, I end up speaking with him. He was rude, inconsiderate and completely oblivious to customer service. He said that the email with the price wasn't valid because he didn't send it (but it came from his email address??) bad business. Anyway, he continues to speak disrespectfully so I hang up because I don't need to be yelled at. I'm already in the middle of a move. Workers complain I should have ordered more movers. (It's a one bedroom - 600 sq ft ) I don't have a lot of stuff. The same amount I had when I moved and it took only two hours moving from the 4th floor. I had already spent the day moving carloads of the small things to help things along. All of the boxes were labeled with instructions on whether it was the first floor or second floor. Also, I moved .5 miles away from the place I lived. They broke stuff, tried to tell me my mattress wouldn't go upstairs (I ended up pulling it up the stairs myself - I'm 5'6" 125lbs) and they huffed every time i asked them to take things upstairs. They kept telling me to empty the boxes so I was literally throwing my shoes out of the box to get everything out of their way. They dumped everything and left. I haven't been able to contact them because they won't answer my calls. WORST MOVE OF MY LIFE!!! Don't use them. It was so stressful. read more

Came to my apartment and moved all of my things very quickly. No damage to any of my stuff and didn't drop anything. Re-assembled my bed easily and were nice enough to move my dresser around till I figured out where to put it lol. Price was fair but the only thing I didn't like was the guy didn't calculate the transport miles before quoting me a price. Out of the 15 or so moving companies I contacted, they had the most competitive rates. The day of my move, Nick and Victor arrived 15 minutes early and did a fantastic job. The guys at Transparent were awesome! They called with their arrival window the morning of the move and came right on time and before I knew it I was moved! These men are incredibly quick, respectful and professional. They came early, and got the job done right. You must understand, moving is such a tenuous and hard process, but these guys where able to move four boxes per dolly. even the heavy ones! They come with a very professional truck, it has the hydraulic machine to move the big stuff like couches and washers. I moved 20 miles away and they finished by 1 pm, started at 9 AM. I am based in Tennessee and my son who is disabled is moving to Tennessee. I needed someone to go out and pack his albums which is the most expensive items he owned. I virtually worked it out with them to got to his apartment pack up and take them to FEDX to ship here in Tennessee. They were excellent in helping us to make this work. My husband worked with Fedx and I worked with One Shot Movers. Veronica was excellent an worked with me to make it happen. I would recommend them. There was a 3 hour minimal and packing material and transporting. It was less than 500.00. The movers were very polite and worked well with my son. I would like to thank them for such great service. Pros: Cheap; IF they show up with the right number of people, they will probably do a decent job Cons: May change the reservation, and attempt to pressure you last minute into accepting a worse deal than what was agreed upon. Do not use unless you can afford to cancel and move another day, or are willing to accept a longer move at a worse rate! -- So, I've now moved with these folks twice, and it was a completely different experience. The first time I hired them to move my stuff into storage, they were efficient, courteous, and careful. I hired 3 movers for 3 hours, at $240 (minimum), and $120/hr after that, which seemed a very good rate - and they were done slightly before the 3 hours were up - yay! Fast forward a few months - I'm now moving my stuff out of storage, and since I had a good experience with them the first time, I use them again, at the same rate. On the day of, a truck shows up with only one guy... a short wait later, another SUV pulls up, but only one more guy gets out, and asks to start moving. Confused, since I only see 2 guys, I double check my reservation to confirm I had arranged for a 3-man team... and then ask where the third man is. I'm told that there was a no show, and not to worry about it, they will just charge me the 2-man rate, of $200 for the first 3 hours, and $100/hr after that. NOTE: they did not even MENTION this to me until I asked, not to mention apologize in any way! In fact, since the guy I asked seemed somewhat surly about it, I ask if they could put me on the phone with their boss. At this point, the surly man turns to face me, and informs me he IS the boss, so what did I want to say? Somewhat surprised, I say that since this wasn't what was agreed upon, perhaps we could reach an accommodation, and offer what I think is a reasonable compromise - that I still pay them the $240 we originally agreed upon, but that it now be good for up to 4 hours, not 3, and then pay them their 2-man $100/hr rate after that. He's immediately suspicious, asking why their standard 2-man rate isn't good enough, and why I want 4 hours? Do I know it's going to take longer? I explain that I hired HIS MOVERS earlier, and a 3 man team took a little less than 3 hours before, so since they only have 2 people this time, yes, I'm worried that it will run longer than 3 hours now. At this point he tells me it's not HIS fault his guys were a no show, and that he drove all the way down here personally so that the move could still happen today. That's nice, but also kind of irrelevant, so I say I'm grateful that he came out, and I'm sure he's very strong, but that I think we can both agree that he's probably not as strong as two guys. To which his response is, "How do you know that?" At this point, things go south pretty quickly - I try a different tack, and explain the basic math - that, at $200/hr, and $100/hr after that, if it DOES run to 4 hours, I'm now paying at least $300, which is more than the $240 I originally thought I was going to pay. He starts trying to argue - how did I know I would get it done in 3 hours with the original 3 man team anyway - which totally doesn't make any sense, because if it DID run over 3 hours with a 3 man team, it would DEFINITELY run over 3 with a 2-man team... and I'm now paying a worse rate, to boot. To which he asks, what do I mean it's a worse rate, it's now $200, instead of $240... so I again explain the basic math - that, for the first 3 hours, with 3 people at $240, I would be paying $80/person, and that with 2 people for $200, I'm paying $100/person. Now, he starts asking why am I dividing per person - you can't just do that, what if there's stairs, what if I have a piano, why am I telling him how to do his job, it's not that easy, etc. Now, there's a certain amount of truth to this - there's inefficiency as you add more people, so 2 people in 3 hours will not do the exact some amount of work as 3 people in 2... but he's not exactly presenting it in manner that's going to lead to any sort of reasonable discussion, and honestly, at this point, I'm not either... we're basically just yelling at each other by now, and shortly thereafter, I call off the move entirely, because no way am I going to trust him now, or give him my business. At the time, I thought he was just too dumb to understand basic math, and thought I was somehow trying to rip him off... but now that I've cooled off a bit, I think that if this IS his business, he MUST be able to understand the basic pricing model... and so, in fact, I think he was probably just pressuring me, assuming that I would cave because it's the last minute, and I wouldn't have any other options. Thankfully, I was in position where I didn't have to move that day, and could call it off... but, really, that was just luck, as most other times I've moved I would have HAD to move that day, and would have had to cave to his demands. I had a garage filled with racks of clothes and boxes for my job. It was equal to the amount of stuff in my house. We arranged to move half to storage and half to Laguna. I wouldn't use this company again. I've had my 2 bdrm townhouse moved to a 3 bedroom townhouse with all heavy appliances and full load of furniture moved in less time. This time I only had one bedroom of furniture and no appliances, just living and dining room furniture and these guys took forever. Were told by owner not to carry two chairs at a time, only one. This was with several items and if we hadn't stepped in to help, would've taken even longer. They were alright but this is my honest review so hire them knowing that's possible. Good luck read more
