Hidden gem! My wife has eaten here a bunch of times and the leftovers were so good. Finally got a chance to actually eat here and I was not disappointed. Located in a random plaza, in a random industrial area of Vernon. Service was great. Restaurant was packed at lunch, which you would not expect looking at it from the outside. Food came out quick. I love the complementary bread they give. So good with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Even better with the pasta sauces. Risotto Nero di Venere con Scaloppina e Salmone - $15.50 - Risotto was cooked to a perfect al dente, had a nice bite. The squid ink sauce that is is cooked in was so delicious. Such a great sea ocean flavor. Salmon cooked perfectly. Great sear and soft and buttery inside. I do know where the scallops were thought. It might be mixed into the rice but I could not visibly see any. Fettuccine al Funghi Porcini con Capesante e Gameri - $15.50 - My wife's favorite pasta and fettuccine dish ever. Pasta is cooked perfectly. Mushroom sauce is perfect and adds a great umami flavor. You get a ton of shrimp and scallops. Sauce is perfect to mop up with the bread they give. went to dinner last fri night and they was understaffed with one waitress only working but she did a hell of a job with the restaurant being pretty busy. Hot bread and waters came out quick and food came out little after. Everything was delicious but was in shock on how much the prices went up with most pasta dishes in the $23-25 range which didn't shock me as much as the calamari which was $27 and the margarita pizza was around $20 but what got me was now they charge 3.5% for using your credit card which came out to $7 extra. I've been there many times before and they never charged anything for using card and I never ate at a restaurant that did charge for using your card. I have never ever been to this part of LA with its warehouses and industrial look, lunch at an "Italian Restaurant" in Vernon I was beyond skeptical to say the least. Was I wrong. To me, nothing is better than finding wonderful places to eat in what I would call the middle of no where and others would call their neighborhood. I give them 2 stars based on the poor service and the unusual business hours. The first time we went there, the waitress came to us 3 times. The first time was to take order, the second time to deliver food and the third time to give us check. We were the only table there so we knew for a fact she wasn't busy serving other tables. Since the food was pretty good, my boyfriend and I decided to visit again. We got there around 3pm on a Saturday. They told us they had a party that evening so couldn't serve us. Again, we were the only guests there. They couldn't serve 2 customers during their business hours? My boyfriend called them on another Saturday around 6pm, they said they were closing. Their business hour on Saturdays is 11am-9pm but they were closing at 6pm? I have a feeling that they either pick and choose their guests or just do business whenever they feel like it. So, call first before you go, especially on Saturday. I wouldn't go there for special occasions just to avoid ruining my mood lol. read more

We read that the restaurant didn't close until 10pm, so we ordered an Uber and arrived at 9:02pm. The sign on the door also specified the restaurant was open until 10pm but the waitstaff refused to serve us, stating that the restaurant was closed, despite there being a few people dining. We had a group of 20 people, it was a complicated order, and they delivered. Today I had the worst service I ever had and many of the silverwear and dishes were dirty! I'm the type of person that understands the service because I've worked at restaurant before! When the waitress took our order never did she bring the menu to us but as we see other people come in she gave them a menu. She had a really bad attitude and also not once did she came back to check up on us, we were here for about a hour. Fortunately, we got better service from the COOK himself! He brought us out our food and still brought us other condiments! He worked espectacular in back of the house and front of the house! He deserves 5 stars himself! Never coming back again! I was here for a business lunch. 7 of us in our group. Got seated timely. Ambiance is very simple and modern which is a nice find in the area of many manufacturing and distribution plants around. Food was decent. I myself had the seafood fettuccini with alfredo sauce. The seafood was fresh and pasta was cooked nicely. The complimentary bread was also delicious. The Best Kept Secret in East Los Angeles All the five star reviews piqued my interest, and there wasn't even a photo put up! Luckily I had a meeting in Downtown LA today and I was in the area so I thought I would give this place a try. Trattoria 25 is located in Vernon, the industrial district of Los Angeles by the garment district. Its a little strip mall with the restaurant in the corner. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the beautiful ambiance. Its a modern contemporary vibe, high ceilings, white walls, black tables/chairs, and dark hard wood floors. Its very modern, like one of those restaurants on "Sex and the City" Many of the patrons here worked in the fashion/garment, textiles and manufacturing industries. I ordered an appetizer called "MELANZANE AL GRANA PADANO" which was a grilled eggplant sauteed in marinara sauce, herbs and topped with melted mozzarella. It was a dip and it was soo good! The dip itself is only 7 bucks! They give you fresh soft Foccacia bread on the table. Next came my Chicken Marsala with herb potatoes and sauteed green beans. The chicken was so tender, juicy and moist. The marsala wine sauce was great and the chicken had the spices infused into the meat (similar to how Indian Tandoori chicken has spice in the meat itself, same with greek style chicken souvlaki) The vegetables were so tender, soft and flavorful. The chicken marsala mushrooms were plump and juicy, coated in thick sweet marsala sauce. Its only 11.95!! This is pretty cheap for an entree this size! For dessert I got the Tiramisu. O ! M ! G ! The tiramisu was heavenly! Wall to wall layers of soft sweet mariscapone cheese, chunks of chocolate and infused with mocha cakey goodness. Drenched in whipped cream, drizzled with shredded chocolate all over and topped with chocolate chips! The food here is incredible!! I dont get out to east LA much, but this place is definitely a winner! Cafe Trattoria 25: clean bathrooms, great food, wonderful service, low prices and an upbeat vibe ! Decided to come here for date night, after the reviews raved about this place, and the location seemed interesting The lack of stars are not for the food actually but for the service we were provided. As soon as we walked in their were like 3 tables occupied , bar had some people. So tables were empty and we stood their ... for like 5 min... behind the host table I can see 3 employees looking at a phone and not 1 decided to say one moment please .. NOTHING! I don't let myself so I told them politely can we please get seated. They sat us down. Server came and wanted to take drinks right away I wanted to read the wine list so asked for a moment, he came back literally 1 min later and asked again and I said sorry not yet. Well that did it he never came back! Luckily my date was going great so time went by faster but I had to get up and order my drink through the bar. I told them my waiter was taking too long. He was nice and said he'll bring my drink to the table. Bartender even took our order! The waiter never smiled said thanks for coming, anything just went with the motion. Disappointing! I read all the hype about this place on Yelp so I decided to go check it out. Authentic Italian restaurant, huh? I walk in to a bunch of pink pinatas hanging from the ceiling and Ranchera music playing from the kitchen. We sit down to order the basics: spaghetti bolognese, insalata salad, and Fettucini al salmon. Received: waterlogged spaghetti in a blandish-Prego'ish sauce, wilted lettuce in the salad, and oily, over-salted fettucini with fish that tasted like they plucked it right out an aquarium from a smelly pet shop. I get it. The place is located in a cold business district where there is nothing but cheap food to eat. You'll see some nice cars here. The people that do business in Vernon don't want to deal with the madness of lunch time in DTLA. In an area where there is cheap food abound, Trattoria 25 just presents the cheap food nicely and charges you high prices. They aren't fooling anybody. read more

I'm not sure what to say here. I know this place had rave reviews from those who work downtown and I get that. It's pretty fantastic (especially the staff, who are supreme!!) but the food and wine I really do have to give a B+ to. It's just OK. To date, I've had 3 entrees, two pasta (OK, not great, not al dente) and one eggplant mozzarella appetizer (enough for a 2-course dinner, mind you) which was, in its simplicity, quite amazing. The table service is top-notch (and in this area, where are you really going to get that), and the atmosphere lively but not loud. The wine selection is decent. Not impressive but one that is totally acceptable for lunch crowds. Again, I'm just going to say that the service is A+. Food, wine and all that aside, the waitstaff remembered me every single time (and I'm a 3x a quarter customer...so, greatly impressive considering how busy they are). So to combine all the factors: if you're in the area EAT HERE. You will not regret it. If you are closer to downtown and have 3 hours to spare, eat at Louis'. But this is a more satisfying experience (and not because you have little to choose from in the vicinity; see my other downtown/Vernon/Commerce reviews) but because the food is truly good and the service superb for LA where most waitstaff not only assume you know the menu but care more about you as a customer than you'll find anywhere in a 10-mile radius. read more

I came here at noon for a business meeting. I was very hesitant at first, because I'm very picky about Italian food. People think they can make Italian food by boiling water and adding sauce? My italian taste buds have been forever changed by two people: My italian girlfriend from Termoli, Italy. Who used to cook me up some freshly made pasta and homemade sauce. And my best friend's grandmother. Who used to cook her homemade spaghetti, everything made from scratch. They basically ruined Italian food for me. This restaurant is in a commercial industrial district. Which is a genius move, because a lot of businessmen/women come here to dine and there is no competition. It was clean, orderly and with opera "hall" like acoustics. The interior design was simple modern and the noise level was moderate to loud. The service was fast and the kitchen was on fire. First impressions always count for me, therefore the point of axis is the bread. Warm, flat 1 in thickness, retangular, with an outside crust that resembled biscotti, but had the flavor of pizza crust. The inside tasted like naan bread with the hint of freshly risen bread yeast. It was really tasty and floured to perfection. I asked the waiter, what dish they were known for and he stated: "Bigoletti ai frutti di mare". I responded by "mmmmm, that sounds tasty...I'll have that" --(Dumb and Dumber). The dish was spaghetti and seafood (crab, mussels, clams, shrimp). The sauce was absolutely perfect, especially after the parmesan cheese melted right into the food. I was very impressed with the sauce; it was light, rich in flavor, surprising morsels of garlic, yet had no fishy smell or after taste to it. I can not give it a 5 only because I haven't tried the rest of the menu. And because they probably will never make their own freshly made pasta with those prices. I don't know how such a great Italian restaurant ended up in this little hell hole we call Vernon, but I'm glad that it did. It's in a strip mall in which none of the other storefronts have businesses. That's how tough it is to get shoppers to this locale. The food here is amazing. It's the closest and best place for a business lunch. During my most recent lunch experience, I had the seared ahi salad. The waiter told me it was his favorite thing on the menu, and I can see why. The tuna was perfectly seared on the edges and raw in the center. The fish was fresh - I was surprised and elated by the quality. I had a business dinner here recently and tried the beef medallions. Not so great. The meat was tough. I should have known better and stuck to anything Italian. The bread is served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and is shaped like biscotti. But it's delicious Italian hard crust bread and addicting beyond all words. So I happened to be driving by the area with my daughter and we wanted something other than the "norm" so I found this place here on Yelp, of course and I've got to say it's a hidden gem. I've passed by it so many times, never saw it before and I'm so happy I found it. I can't wait to take my boyfriend for lunch. Excellent service; seated right away, within minutes we had drinks on hand and the waiter was taking our order. The place itself is beautiful, very open and the bar area very trendy. I ordered the black Risotto with Salmon (amazing) and my daughter ordered the spaghetti; I asked if it was as good as her mom's and she said very close (I love the lies)! Really a 4.5 Star by me, but as you shall see, its effective location pushes it over to the top. Really, the one and only (bar none no joke) fine dining experience in Vernon. It is hard to believe such a gem exists... It can quite accurately be described as a diamond in the rough (disgusting, boring, dirty rough). Food: great above average Italian. Though not traditional, each dish is filling and delicious. Decent wine and drink selection, wonderful bread, and I especially enjoy the sea food on the menu. Service: Great rapid waiting staff - courteous and professional despite being a little understaffed. Expect a wait if you come after 12noon. The staff will gladly make recommendations, they will recognize regulars, and will accommodate for bigger groups and parties. Price: You get what you pay for. For being the only acceptable fine (but not too fine) establishment in the entire city, you're looking at $15 -$23 a plate, about $50 for 2 people. Whether you're trying to impress a client, treat someone to a deserving celebratory meal, or even a semi-romantic meal, this is worth it.
